Bank of America Credit Protection Plus

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I have been trying to get my credit protection activated since October and I keep getting the runaround. They took forever to send me the activation form. Then, I faxed them the info and waited. They told me they never received it. I faxed it 2 more times. They finally said that they received it. That was a month after the original fax. Ever since then, they've been requesting one thing after the other. I've given them more than enough information and it's something else. Most recently, I just received a letter stating that they needed my employer to complete one section. However, they told me that if they received the info from the work number showing that I was full time and my termination date, it would suffice.

I spent another 3 hours working on trying to get this info by calling them. I was getting the correct fax number again. I was told that this information was exactly what they needed. They said that it has to be reviewed so that it can be activated. I waited another week. I called them and they said they have everything. It took 7-10 business days before it was activated. I called again. They said, "Yeah, it looks fine." They have everything they need, but the activation has to activate, so give it a few more days. Two weeks later, I received a letter stating that they now need the employer to show that I was a full time employee, working the last 30 days. They said that the info was missing or my pre-printed name was not on the documentation received and they can't accept handwritten names. I went through the same nonsense with Discover, Amex and my vehicle loan protection.

I found out through Bank of America that I am eligible and covered under Credit Protection Plus Plan that I have under them since I am unemployed. I have been calling and sending info that is needed to have this plan activated while I am unemployed. But they are giving me the runaround so that they don't have to pay my payments. It's been going on now for the last four weeks.

I also did some research on them, and it seems that other consumers are having similar problems with them as well. It seems like fraud to me as I am being charged and paying for their service as this is the first time since I am unemployed but they continue asking for this and that. When I asked them if that was all the information they needed, they said, "Yes, that's all I need." I just want to see if you can help me on this. Thank you in advance.
