My Applied Card Bank Visa Card is paid in full, and has been for approximately 4 or 5 months. Last June I paid the Annual fee of 70 (to which they automatically add some sort of cash advance fee.) Yesterday, August 18, I received a letter dated August 7 that Applied Card Bank is now dropping the 70 annual fee from their contract with me and replacing it with a 15 per month Monthly Maintenance Fee. They further stated that if I choose not to accept these new fees, I can cancel my account by sending them a letter to a PO Box. No where in the letter to me do they offer to refund any portion of the fee that I paid to Applied Card Bank in good faith just two months ago.

I have spent over two hours on the telephone attempting to contact someone that works for Applied Card Bank. Their customer support line, which their web site claims is staffed from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM only connects to a recording telling me what my account balance and available credit is.

Having sent them payments through the mail, I know that they have a habit of letting mail pile up and then process the payments after the payment due date. All I really want is a real mailing address, so I can send Applied Card Bank a Registered Letter, and get a signed receipt proving that they received my letter that I canceled my account prior to their required date of August 27.

Janeen of Tacoma, WA August 19, 2009

I just received a notice that Applied Bank will not be charging me an annual fee any more. Instead they are going to charge my account 15 fee every month starting in September and they raised my interest rate to 29.99%. I have been a customer for several years and have always made more than the minimum payment and in some months paid the whole amount. I can't get any satisfaction from Applied because their call center is in a foriegn country which makes it impossible to get any where.

I was approved for a card by this company and was making payments no problems untill I was medically injured by a doctor. In November 2008 I accepted to a payment plan of 50.00 a month for 6 months and there would be no finance or late payments on my account. Well all of a sudden the amount started going up instead of down.

I had called in to move my Feb payment to make 2 payments in March due to I was diagnosed with Breast tumors. They told me it was not a problem to move it and would not affect my payments. I indeed kept my payments like I would and paid the 50.00 every month for 6 months. When I found out they were charging me they completely lied to me on the phone to where I went and wrote a letter to Customer Care. This has yet to be settled.

In July 09 I spoke with a man (of indian accent) who told me he would take care of everything and that customer care would be in touch with me. I went ahead and authorized another payment of 65.95 to be withdrawn from my account. Once again I still haven't been called by Customer Care and now I am receiving Harrassing phone calls. A total of 30 calls in 4 days is just ridiculous. The one call I took they wanted me to pay the outstanding charges. I told them to get "bent" and that I was disputing them and I was reporting them for Fraud.

I haven't even started business with them yet and they have already been very rude. I haven't gotten the small deposit into my account yet and I was guessing that there must be a problem so I called to see what the next step should be. I got this total ass on the phone who sounded aggravated that I was even asking my question. I applied for the card on 7/31/2009 and I'm pretty sure that I should've gotten the deposit by now but since they won't help me get past that point, I will take my business some place else.

I signed up for a secured credit card with a very small limit of 200. I eventually got behind on payments and was assessed late and over-the-limit fees. Fair enough. Then I called to make a payment of 320 to zero out my account and re-enable my card.

Recently I tried to use the card, and credit was denied. Their website says that I still owe 233. There are no charges on my statement to justify a payment due of that amount.

I tried to call, and I can only get an automated system. I do not owe this money. There is nothing on my statement to reflect my current balance. This is very poor policy, and in the event that Applied Bank continues to charge fees on a fictitious balance, it is also robbery. 433 in damages. This includes the missing account balance of 200 and an expected payment of 233.

i was paying them 48.00 per month and was not late with any payment. then starting in may they put my payment up to 123.00 per month. i ask them why my payment went up and could not give me an answer other than you have to pay the new amount. i told them i could not pay this amount becaused my wife and i are both disabled. he told me too bad. i told him go to hell and i wont pay and i havent and i will not pay

Jennifer of San Francisco, CA July 17, 2009

I applied for a secured credit card on or about 7/13/09. I cancelled the application on 7/16/09. During the application process, I gave them my checking account number and routing number. On their website it says the application process would not continue unless I verified a small amount ( .04 cents, in my case). They went ahead and withdrew the 700 from my account that I was going to secure the credit card with before my verifiying my checking account. Now they say I won't receive a refund for 30 days. I have called the bank several times and they flat out state this is how long the process takes, even though I have cancelled the application. Also, no where does it state this in their Terms and Conditions that it takes any refunds this long to process.

I am being called by these people on an everyday bascis and it is not nice they call me at work and home they sound like indian people and i don't owe these people any money my credit cards was paid off many years ago an i have never had a credit card since 1998. they said they was going to make my credit report look bad. when i asked them on the phone what did i purchase on the credit card they could not tell me. and when i get a statement in the mail it dosn't tell me what i owe money for. or what i purchased on this so called credit card.

Frank of Weymouth, MA July 15, 2009

I had told them I would pay them the same amt of each month and that they keep calling us 2-3 month and then either my wife or my self has to go over the same routine every time. Plus, these people that call are not even American,so that sometimes they cannot understand me & I cannot understand them. This time they wanted to tell me that they would take money out of my bank acct. automatically & I said "no, I will send you a check like usual. By the way I am on SSDI.

Mario of Moorhead, MN July 6, 2009

I waited two weeks after receiving their authorized online offer to receive the secured credit card. One day after I had used Money Gram Express to wire funds to this company there was a problem. Of course I didn't find this out until after calling three days after the initial transaction to verify receipt of the Money Gram.

THERE WAS NEVER AN ACCOUNT CREATED. The number that is given is was not even a number of any account, and it is NOT a credit card number. It is only a reference number used to match up the incoming funds with a request. Even though you may have been approved for an account, an account is never created (at least for the majority). There have been some of the outsourced personnel that stated "there was a letter sent to you by mail regarding the problem."

I responded "NO bank would send a letter to a customer that something was wrong with their account in this case." I then stated "how was the company going to reference the account? So far there was only a transaction of me wiring this company funds." The personnel grieved, and I was referred to another. At that time I requested to process a refund. I was then explained that it would take 30 days to process the refund. At a week later from the initial transaction I was thinking "Why would a bank need 30 days to process a refund...IT'S A BANK!"

So I called back and verified the processing of the refund. This was an excellent conversation because you certainly learn that this company IS NOT A BANK! I explained that my main reason for calling is to have someone explain to me what process is needed that it takes 30 days to process a refund. It was explained that "I would receive a check in the mail." I returned fire and stated "it would NEVER take in person on THIS planet 30 days to receive an item by mail." I then asked "now what is the 30 days for... when this company is supposed to be a bank?"

It was explained that "the PROCESSING of the refund would take 30 days, then a check would be mailed out." I stated "this is great...it went from 30 days to 60 days because it would take 10 business days beyond the 30 days to receive the check provided that something else doesn't become an issue." I then asked "what kind of check takes a BANK 30 days to write and mail?" There was no response, and at that moment there was no since in waiting for something that no longer existed.

But I did ask this "supervisor" one last question: If an account was never created, where is the money?" The supervisor responded "the money is here we can see it." So I said "okay why is this company sitting on my money when a refund was requested?" At that point the script started over...
