About 10 months ago I started experiencing a filmy, stringly coating on my tongue and mouth -- that was very prevalent in the morning. It was not aesthetically pleasing to say the least. So I would have to go through a whole process to rid my mouth of this before I would leave for work. I went to my doctor who put me on an anti-yeast medication called diflucan -- he put me on a 20 day course - when that didn't work = he gave me another 20 day supply. After that he sent me to an infectious disease doctor -- who put me through a battery of tests which came up with nothing.

After that I went to an eye, ears, nose and throat doctor -- who determined it was an infecton and put me on CIPRO for three weeks -- that didn't work. Then I was sent to a doctor that specializes in skin issues both external and internal -- I had a biopsy done -- with them cutting out some of my cheek. Anyway, no one found anything.

Approximately 9 months previously I had purchased the 4 box package of Crest Pro at Costco. As soon as I ran out of the Crest Pro -- within two days my mouth returned to normal. During my usage of the product -- I experienced blisters inside my mouth, periodic breathing problems with my throat swelling at times. It was truly a bummer. I had also asked my dentist during that time -- who said he didn't deal with that kind of problem.

The damage that resulted was literally thousands of dollars in medical care, prescriptions and tests besides the trauma of not knowing what was going on. My mouth was sore, tender and blistered during much of that time. I had to use an inhaler many times to be able to breath as well. All in all it was a totally unnecessary and traumatic experience.

I used Crest Whitening Expressions Cinnamon Rush flavor toothpaste November 19 2008. When I finished brushing my teeth, I noticed that where the foam had gotten on my skin around my mouth was red and raised, numb to the touch, and there was a weird red line around the raised, swollen skin. It didn't go away with washing my face, and as my face had been normal before I used the toothpaste, I concluded that the toothpaste had caused this reaction. I was pretty freaked out because it was hideously ugly and I didn't know if the reaction would go further.

I got online and looked up allergic reaction to Crest and found this consumer list of complaints. I decided to take a Benadryl and go to bed. I woke up and everything looks normal and fine, though the skin that swelled up is a little dryer than the rest of my face. I am not going to be using this crazy toothpaste ever again! It is also important to me to note that I've never had a topical reaction like this before in my life and I'm 25.

I've never experienced anything like this. Really freaky stuff. I'm really angry that Crest or any company would have a product on the market that produces so many negative and dangerous reactions in people. It's unethical, dangerous, and not right.

I recently purchased a tube of Crest Pro-Health Night Toothpaste. I used it for probably four nights before oddly realizing that my sense of taste had completely disappeared and I have a build up of nasty slime on my tongue. I have not used it for three days now but my sense of taste has not yet returned. And, my tongue continues to build up even if I brush it. It also burns a little still and feels the same as when I used to whiten my teeth years ago.

I am furious about this and am just hoping my sense of taste comes back. So far, everything just takes like water would and I have no desire to eat anything despite being hungry. I have an appointment at the dentist and can't wait to hear what he has to say. In the meantime, I have made a point to tell everyone I know not to use this toothpaste and have thrown it away. Besides, the cap of the tube is worthless and every morning I open my vanity drawer to a puddle of toothpaste that leaked everywhere. I will never buy Crest again.

I had used the whitestrips premium before but did not have any reaction, however when i used the whitestrips proeffects, i had a very strange taste in my mouth, and my tongue went through numb phases.

This progressed for a week (I no longer used this product) however about two weeks after using this product and having mild symptoms, one evening my entire mouth and throat area swelled up and I was very near to going to the ER because I thought I would not be able to breathe. the next day my throat was not as swelled up but my tongue is stil feeling swollen and sensitive. I have contacted crest, but they say that this should not happen with their product. This has been a horrible experience and am hoping that there is no permanent damage.

I have been using Crest Pro Health Toothpaste for some time, It causes a tingling, burinng sensation on my tongue that I have kind of gotten used to. It has also caused a discharge in my mouth. At first it was odd - maybe some age-related thing that no one talks about? Then it became annoying, as I manually removed strings of white, filmy stuff from my mouth as surreptitiously as possible. It has lately become embarrassing in amount and frequency - almost continuous.

I have to make sure I have a kleenex handy. I was finally going to speak with my doctor about it, but had a dental hygiene appointment first. When I described this situation, my hygienist said she was stumped; often, it can be a sign of gum disease but since my dental records are excellent and have been for a while, she suggested I do more investigation. In the meantime, she continued with the dental cleaning, and stopped. She said I may have found the source of the discharge. Your cheeks' tissue is sloughing off. They are coated in a white filmy, stringy substance that is simply sloughing off.

She asked what toothpaste I was using. I told her Crest Pro Health. She said she had a number of patients complaining of unusual dental issues. We all had one thing in common: we all used Crest Pro Health toothpaste. She suggested I change toothpaste and gave me a tube of ________ to try.

I used it for the first time that night and the effect was instantaneous and stunning. My tongue felt good. My cheeks felt good. I threw out all my Crest Pro Health product. That was two weeks ago and I am amazed at how completely normal, clean and good my entire mouth feels. It took a few days to get used to not having a film to remove. I started investigating on the Internet.

When I Googled Crest Pro Health-Problems, I was amazed at the quantity and variety of complaints. I investigated further and found the ingredient cetylpyridinium chloride. More Googling revealed that this is toxic and can be very destructive of mucous membrane. How can P & G use a substance that can be very destructive of mucous membrane in a product destined exclusively for a mucous environment? How can the American Dental Association be endorsing this product?

With the quantity and variety of problems going back for two years, why is this product still on the market? Why is there no warning on the tube or box? And finally, if P & G won't do anything, how come some enterprising lawyer or law firm hasn't taken up this issue?

Aside from the money I have paid for toothpaste, I have no economic damage; the physical damage described above has disappeared immediately after stopping use of the product. I have been fortunate to avoid the staining, spotting, etc. that others have experienced.
