Richard of Green Valley, AZ August 15, 2009 After using the product noted, both the wife and I experienced mouth irritation. Additionally, placing the toothpaste tube in our medicine cabinet at the same location over months resulted in product leaking from tube and removing the paint from the steel medicine cabinet. Contact me at the email above and I can provide a graphic picture of this. Does not seem to me that one should put the product in one's mouth if it removes paint from steel. Connie of Petaluma, CA July 30, 2009 I ued crest pro health for a week, had very dry mouth, very sensitive gums could not even floss. I work in a dental office. I mentioned it to a co-worker and they said they felt the inside of their cheek was sluffing off. We both stopped and now are back to normal. When a patient calls in with these symptoms, I ask them if they changed their toothpast and to what and then say to stop using and see if symptoms get better. Laurie of Chattanooga, TN July 8, 2009 I began using Crest Pro-Health toothpaste several months ago. In the last few weeks I noticed that my tongue was tingling and hurt. It felt swollen and any drink or food or anything that touched my tongue made it hurt. I noticed sores on my inside cheeks and the skin felt like it was being peeled off. Then my neck starting hurting. I could barely move my neck, I couldn't find a comfortable position to sleep. I felt like I had masses on the sides of my neck pushing down on the muscles of my neck. I was in a great deal of pain. I even tried going to a chiropractor twice a week, but I didn't get any relief. I knew something had changed so I didn't go to my doctor, I thought I could figure it out myself. Then I realized that it must be something I was doing different. It took about a month for me to figure out it was the toothpaste. I quit using Crest Pro-Health and switched to another brand. The next morning my tongue felt better and so did my neck. I wasn't completely over the pain, but I could tell a difference. Just wish it hadn't taken me so long to figure it out. Why is this product still on the market? How can I complain to the FDA about this product? Michelle of clearwater, FL July 2, 2009 On the evening of 6/29/2009 i brushed my teeth prior to bed with crest pro health night.after getting into bed,i then started to feel severe pain and then started to feel somthing very slimey in my mouth.i then returned to the bathroom mirror pulling out long stringy skin, coming from my gums, lips and the inner parts of my cheeks.my gums are extremley sore red and swollen. i then began to panic and called my parents right away.my mother then advised me to google complications with CREST PRO HEALTH toothpaste,so i did and with finding i was not the only one that has expierianced this and all the complications hurt and pain this product has caused to MANY.i was outraged...i have suffered from headaches, sore throat, face boils, numb lips, skin peeling off of my inner cheeks, gums & lips.THIS is not normal.somthing needs to be done about this NOW... Natalie of Macungie, PA June 17, 2009 About 4 months ago, I purchased Crest ProHealth Toothpaste. I didn't know at the time why I was suffering from a continuous headache, lower and upper jaw pain. My teeth felt like each had a cavity, my gums, my tongue and the roof of my mouth were in so much pain that I barely survived each day. I had an MRI, saw a facial pain specialist, a dentist and my family doctor. No one had a clue what was happening to me. They put me on antiseizure medication to block the nerve pain. By chance, I discovered a complaint blog about Crest ProHealth and it became very clear that was the culprit. I don't understand how this toothpaste passed the FDA process. Dianne of Ashland City, TN June 9, 2009 I purchased both the Crest Pro-Health toothpastes, morning and night formula. After using for about one week, I noticed that my cheeks were peeling. I was continuously removing stringly white skin. My lips became swollen and red and BURNED very painfully 24 hours a day. I purchased every OTC lip medication that the local Wal-Mart carried and none of them gave me any relief. The area around my mouth was also red, blistered and peeling, as was my lips. My teeth ACHED, my gums were sore, and I could no longer taste anything. After about 2 weeks of trying to clear this up with no success and losing sleep because I was continuously applying lip balm in an effort to releive the pain, I finally made an appointment with a dermatologist. He questioned me about any changes in any food or products I was using and when I said I had begun using the Crest Pro-Health, he immediately told me that he had seen other patients with the same reactions I was having. His receptionist had also experienced the same problems after using this toothpaste. I would like to know why Crest has not recalled this product or at least acknowledged that there are severe reactions from it's use. It has been about 3 months now and I am still having the problems with my mouth and lips. I have seen the doctor 3 times and taken 4 different prescriptions that have increased in strength with each new one. It mostly clears up with each new medication, but after about 2 weeks my mouth and lips again become red, swollen, cracked and VERY painful. I just made another appointment with the doctor today. I have permanent scarring around my mouth from the sores and the pain continues to be excruciating every time this reoccurs. I look like a freak that had a very bad botox treatment. I am out the cost of doctor fees, prescriptions, time off from my job to see the doctor, not to mention the embarressment and pain from the continuing occurances. Denice of Cheyenne, WY June 4, 2009 I started using this toothpaste about a year and a half ago. I noticed almost right away that the insides of my cheeks would start peeling approximately 30 minutes after brushing my teeth. I mentioned this to a friend that also uses the toothpaste and she has the same problem. I recently switched to the enamel shield variety ( have always used the clean mint flavors) and am also having the same issue with the peeling. I have only been using the enamel shield for about a week and already have a small canker sore on my gums and the right side of my tongue is really sore. When we went on vacation to Hawaii, I took a travel size of the Pro-Health and did not haved the issue there. Was it the difference in the water or the size of the tube??? As soon as we came back home, the peeling started again. My daughters cheeks also peel on the inside. Every morning, before I go to work, I have to take a paper towel and wipe the inside of my mouth to collect all of the stringy looking skin that has peeled. I have used Crest all of my life, and this Pro-Health is the only one that has ever caused me issues. Sandra of Chelsea, AL May 19, 2009 My son began using Crest Pro Health and in a week noticed peeling of the skin inside his mouth, swollen and bleeding gums and sensitivity to all parts of his mouth. He could literally peel the skin from his cheeks with his tongue. We immediately switched to another brand and his mouth got better or so we thought until his routine dental appt. The Crest Pro Health toothpaste had removed gum tissue and exposed a root from one of his back teeth. The dentist mentioned that he sees lots of patients who experience the same symptoms while using Crest Pro Health. It should be removed from the market and after reading the other complaints I am very upset and disappointed that Crest has not done so already. They need to remove this product before someone has a severe reaction that causes permanent damage or death. My son will have to have a skin graft in order to correct his problem. Susan of Joliet, IL May 17, 2009 Had allergic reaction to Crest Pro-Health enamel shield. inside of mouth extremely sore, swollen, large sores on inside of cheeks and sides of tongue. Tongue swollen and sore. Teeth, gums are throbbing. Hard to eat and drink. To sore to talk, I run my own business and I am having difficulty speaking with my clients. Can't sleep mouth is very sore pain is keeping me up all night. I have no insurance to go see a Dr. or Dentist. Serena of Penn Valley, CA May 11, 2009 "Crest ProHealth Toothpaste, Whitening" removes HUGE sheets of skin from the insides of my cheeks every time I use it! I am not allergic to any toothpaste nor had any problems from any toothpaste, in my entire 49 years! There is something majorly wrong with this toothpaste, and it should be removed from market immediately! Whatever is in it, I saw others reporting that Colgate toothpaste is also doing the same thing. | |||
