Cosmetics
Many of us don't spend much time thinking about the material we routinely smear on our faces, brush onto our eyebrows or rub into our pores. But cosmetics and other personal care products are chemicals -- and like any chemical substance can do great harm under certain circumstances. Most of the time, of course, they do nothing at all, which is why they're not tightly regulated by the government.
So are cosmetics a waste of money? Some might say so, as our Tom Glaister reports in Cosmetics: A Fresh Face or Just a Waste?
