Toshiba Settles TV Lamp Suit

Daniela of Moodus, CT August 31, 2009

Bought a Toshiba Laptop in July 2008. November of 2008 i had to send Laptop in for the first time because of Windows trying to load. Toshiba repaired it. Had to send it in ever since 2 more time (in one year) Toshiba does not offer to replace me with a new Laptop instead chose to keep repairing the old one.

Now that i am out of warranty but with the same pre existing problem they told me they will hang up the phone on me. Toshiba? Never again! They are the worst!

I purchased a Satellite® E105 laptop from Best Buy on 07Aug09. On 16Aug09 the screen cracked. I had simply adjusted the screen by lightly pinching the middle top of the screen between my thumb and index finger and the thing popped, then cracked. I HAVE NEVER SEEN a laptop do this. In fact, the IBM Lenovo I am writing this on simply flexes under the same condition. I took the laptop to Best Buy and was quickly informed that physical damage was not covered by my warranty and that it would have been covered if I purchased the extended warranty --- unfortunately, I was never offered this extended warranty by Best Buy. I also called Toshiba and was told the same thing.

I also purchased a Toshiba labpto Model: PSU42E-005003KS, Within couple of months the keyboard letters started to pop out. The TECHGUYS replaced the keyboard. The system reboots for no apprant reason. All the rubber padding came off bit by bit.

Later on the headphone jack stopped working and a minor crack appeared in screen, the crack was no bigger then a one millimeter, it started from the top part of the screen, within days the crack went right across the screen. I believe the crack was a result of not sufficent support is given to screen to absorb minor shocks. Every time you close the laptop there would a minor vibrational shcock. Again the teckguys fixed the keyborad and headphone but NOT the screen

Would I buy a TOSHIBA laptop again? Definiately NOT. For 4 years I had a HP compaq nc6000 laptop, I never had any problem with it even though it was droped several times.

I purchased 3 Toshiba Satellite Laptops in 12/2007 for Christmas gifts. One of them has had very severe overheating problems which happen within minutes of starting the laptop which cause the computer to shut itself down automatically. This has been happening for quite sometime. Their were several articles on Toshiba's website indicating that a BIOS update would resolve this issue. Well I tried to do the BIOS update and in the middle of the update the laptop turned itself off automatically. Now the laptop will no longer boot. I am very frustrated and would like to find out how you may help resolve this issue.

I have my satelite A200-P532 Laptop. it's allways restart when I enter an Application. I notice that happen while its come to much overheating. Then i check to internet to solve the problem, then i found its said may be its becouse my fan was blocked by dust. so i start to go to toshiba repair service, hopping their will fix it fast. They said its only take 2 Weeks to repair it. After waiting for that long i call costumer service center, and they said they need 1 month to repaired it since it may my motherboard has a trouble.

so i wait for 1 month. then i call it again. after that they say need another 1 month again, so i asked why?, then they said because the motherboard must be delivered from singapore and the one that has been ship from singapore earlier is not match to my laptop so they need to make a new order for one motherboard to singapore again. now i have waiting for 2 month. and still not knowing my laptop status. what i mean is if they found that the new motherboard that has been ship from singapore not match with my laptop again, then its mean i need another 1 month again waiting, since they need to make a new order for one new motherboard from singapore, and this is very not suitable for me.

Purchased 900 Toshiba laptop 8/08. 5/08 computer would not start. Toshiba service had me re-install entire computer over the phone. Probably still existed. Toshiba had me take the laptop to an authorized dealer. They replaced hard drive and ram. Two weeks later, laptop would not boot again. Toshiba wanted it sent to them. They received it and did exactly what I did on the phone the first time and mailed it back. They will not answer questions regarding how many times it takes to repair before replacing. Three times in one month is out of the question. They will not replace the Office Product and Anti-virus software I purchased and installed three times. Customer service asked me what I wanted. I told them I wanted to know exactly what the technican did. Jessi would not answer the question or call the technican. Claimed I was yelling at him and that there was no one above him and hung up on me.

Toshiba Satellite A215-S5837 Burning up power cords. I bought this laptop a little over a year ago. About six months ago, I started having issues with it being plugged in, but the laptop didn't register that it was plugged in. I would jiggle the cord, and that worked for a while. Then the end of the cord would get hot, where it was plugged into the laptop. It was still under warranty (barely) so I sent it in. They said it was a bad power cord, replaced it, and sent it back. Two months later, another cord burnt out. I called, and since it was not longer under warranty, they would charge me to look at it. We argued about it, and they agreed to take a look free of charge. They said again, that it was a bad cord, and replaced the adapter. Here it is, two weeks later, and that cord has burnt out too. Toshiba insists that the problem isn't with the computer, but I think they're wrong. They are now refusing to look at it at all, unless I pay for it. I don't see why I should have to pay for a problem that occurred while under warranty that they refuse to fix.

I bought a Toshiba laptop from pc worl serial number PSPA3E18KO26EM. The lid on this laptop is forever cracking at the hinges. To be quite honest im getting fed up of sending the laptop back to be fixed. I think upto date i must have done this at least 7 times. I took out the life time insurance on my laptop. I never would have believed that id be using it SO much!! It really is the worst laptop i have ever had for problems!! At the moment im arranging for it to be taken away yet again for the lid to be fixed. This will be the last time. Id like something to be done about this please!!

Claims to have no record of my extended warranty and will not allow me to purchase extended warranty, wants me to pay 450 for repairs I called and was hang up on when I asked for a supervisor. I explained that I had bought my notebook from Circuit City and had mailed in the card that came with the notebook and had since verified that the extended warranty was in place though I had never used it. When I was told that repairs would be 425 (without even explaining what was wrong) I told them I would just like to purchase a new warranty plan, and they said they don't allow that. I asked them if customers who purchased extended warranties in they past could continue to purchase them indefinitely and they would not answer, and said they had no managers, and then hung up (Claudia was her name. My warranty was in place a month ago when I upgrade my RAM and ordered replacement system software CDs free of charge, what happened over a month to change my warranty options if my warranty expired 12/2008??? I told three reps at Toshiba that I was told when I bought the computer that I would be able to add extended warranty at any time by simply calling Toshiba, now Circuit City is closed and Toshiba is giving you a phone number an no company name to call and try to figure something out
