Joyce of Etters, PA September 8, 2008
Joyce of Etters PA (09/08/08) I purchased a Toshiba 305 Satellite A300 Series Laptop. It worked fine for about 6 weeks then the DVD quit. I called and spent 4 1/2 hours on the telephone which ended in me driving 80 miles (back and forth twice) to an authorized repair shop for Toshiba products. A week later I got my laptop back with a new DVD.
Three weeks later the DVD quit again. Again I took it to the repair shop (authorized) after spending 2 hours on the telephone with Toshiba. Eight days later and another 80 miles later I had my laptop back again with a new DVD and Mother Board -- three weeks later it quit again. I was upset and again spent 2 hours on the telephone with tech, supervisor and customer service -- this time I was told to use the recovery disk -- I didn't feel comfortable using it and besides the DVD didn't work so back to the repair shop again --
Ten days later I call to check on the repair -- they have totally rebuilt the computer with another mother-board, DVD and they can't get it to work and the Recovery disk shuts down -- now I have a non-working Laptop and I have been waiting 5 days for a box to sent it to Toshiba for them to repair or replace after they determine what is wrong -- I have had it with them -- Once I send the computer I asked how do I check on it and was told to go on line -- that made no sense because they have will have my computer -- I didn't tell them I have an old computer which I rarely use (except for now). I can't wait to see what will happen next --
Dennis of Baguio City, OTHER September 4, 2008
Dennis of Baguio City OTHER (09/04/08) I have bought a TOSHIBA laptop with a model of X205-S9349. And I have encountered DVD drive problem which resulted to non-functional of the drive. I have not been using the dvd drive frequently. And it's only 1 year and a month. And it suddenly broke down.
I will not recommend to others to buy TOSHIBA laptops! I think TOSHIBA laptops are not made for quality! The subcontractor service center is charging me 500 US dollars for the replacement of the drive. They should have given me consideration on warranty and free service charge! Mary of El Paso, TX August 27, 2008
Mary of El Paso TX (08/27/08) To get overnight warranty service on my Toshiba Satellite, they made me purchase a second warranty plan at full cost within 6 months of buying the laptop. Now they have no record of that purchase and will not provide the services as outlined in the contract they sent me w/ the receipts of purchase. Furthermore, the computer possibly needs a new hard drive as it no longer works. It is only 1.5 years old. I have been trying to send it back to the repair depot, but the owner of the UPS stores that Toshiba state will send in the computer tells us that since Toshiba has never paid him for the shipping and boxing of the repair computers, he refuses to take the computer and ship it. He owns all of the UPS stores that are listed as repair/shipping depots.
To get Toshiba to send me a box to send it in, Michael (a Toshiba supervisor) states that since the repair depot must cancel the old number and issue a new number, but runs on eastern standard time and is closed when I call (mtn time), that I must wait again for them to contact me. They want to call during my classroom teaching time because they are on eastern standard time. I refused and demanded that they give me a direct number to speak with someone at the company. Michael stated that Toshiba has no direct lines for their costumers and that we must wait for when it is convenient for Toshiba to call. Thus, I have a broken computer, no way to send it in for repairs, and have been charged for two warranties that they are not honoring. I am disgusted.
I was charged twice for a warranty that does not work at 324.74 extra, have a 1800.00 computer that does not work, paid gas mileage and time to drive to UPS stores that do not ship their product, and have lost several hours to phone calls regarding this issue. Moreover, I am stressed beyond belief at the ineptitude of this company and how much time I will lose from work trying to deal with this issue during their and my business hours. Vujadin of Wageningen, OTHER August 19, 2008
Vujadin of Wageningen OTHER (08/19/08) I have bought Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop 6 months ago. After one month disc failed. I gave it for a repair. However, this one lasted only for a week. I gave it again for a repair. They changed it again. After two weeks, I experienced problems again. However, this time it didn't fail totally since I stopped using the latopo. But the laptop is useless. I'm reluctant to give for a repair again since they are making a fool out of me.
I'm loosing my time and money for their bad product. Of course, I have complained and wrote emails to every [person] in the company, from Netherlands to Japan headquarters. They don't care. Never again Toshiba. Moreover, I will do all my best to divert people away from their garbage-quality products.
Lost money and time on going to repair centre. Lost nerves since I was in the middle of my academic work (thesis). I bought the laptop to ease my life with the work. Several times I almost lost all my 6-months work. Numerous times I wanted to crush the laptop off the wall. B. of Gilmer, TX August 8, 2008
B. of Gilmer TX (08/08/08) In May 2008 I bought a 17 Toshiba lap top from Office Depot. I bought the 17 inch because I liked the ten-key key pad. They had one with a black keyboard, but it did not have the ten-key pad and one with a silver keyboard that did have the ten-key pad. I asked the salesman should I have a problem with the silver coming off. He assured me that I should not; it was made with the same quality as a black keyboard.
Well, within two months the silver on my E key is off, about the size of my finger tip -- the majority of the silver is rubbed off of my E key. I approached Office Depot. They told me to call Toshiba. I called Toshiba and they told me it was a cosmetic problem and that that was my problem. So this email is just to warn other consumers to be very cautious before buying a Toshiba silver key keyboard.
