Toshiba Settles TV Lamp Suit

Carol of Boardman OH (12/22/08)
12/22/2008 I am currently the VERY unhappy owner of a Satellite 135 AS2276 laptop, purchased in May '07. It was a fairly decent computer until this summer, when it locked me out with the BIOS password issue. I had to drive all the way to Cleveland, Oh to get it resolved ( a 3 hour round trip!). Shortly after that, ALL my USB ports stopped working, giving a USB device not recognized etc... message.

Now I am also experiencing frequent shutdowns and extremely slow processing speeds (intermittent). Attempts to get tech support have met with no success, since the computer is now out of warranty. The last tech I spoke to told me that he had never heard of this USB problem, even though I have found several references on the web about others having it, and even gave him the website address. I purchased this computer because I relied on the Toshiba name, but am now wondering if it is going to be another major problem like the 1800 series.

In addition to the cost of the Cleveland trip, I am a real estate agent relying heavily on the computer for my work and have been forced to go into the office for Real estate multiple listing access on MANY occassions because the Toshiba wouldn't work, or was too slow.

I bought a Toshiba laptop Satellite A205-S5831 in June 2008. I've owned laptops before but the problems here are rediculous!! - It takes hours to do anything at all!! It's constantly thinking, that little circle spinning. When you type in Windows Mail or Word the cursor jumps to some other part of the document in the middle of your work leaving you with a mess. Sometimes it freezes up or tells you the program is not responding.

I'm an independent Technical writer and depend on my laptop for my entire income. This laptop is worthless to me. I have lost many hours of work through this laptop.Besides that 1- I have to get up half an hour earlier each morning to allow the laptop to boot with all its thinking and problems and many times needs retarts 2- It is an embarassment to go to a client using a laptop that freezes up or takes all this thinking time 3- I spend many extra hours on each document because the cursor has jumped (I read on the internet a way to solve the problem but the cure lasted only temporarily and then it went back to jumping) 4- I have wasted hours on the internet looking for cures for many of its Vista problems (ex - A- cursor jump, B- office products require authorization each time opened C- Skype non-compatibility There are temporary cures This is not worth my extra hours and aggrivation.

I will probably just throw it out at a 500 loss so that my business won't be ruined. Suggestion for settlement (other than refunding my 500) - The whole problem may not be the Toshiba computer but the Windows Vista that they supply with the computer. - I would be willing to take a copy (or installation) of Windows XP and hopefully that will solve the problem. (Toshiba must already must know that's the problem, so let them come clean instead of thinking they can keep putting band-aids on a faulty product thus ruining their good name on a product for a defect that isn't their fault. Thank-you

I bought the Toshiba Satelite A305-S6837 in August 2008--within 3 weeks it would go to a blue screen and crash. I took it back 5 times and nothing could be found where they could identify the problem. Imagine two weeks without your life line. Luckily the last time I took it in--a young seventeen year old did some research and found out that the Vista program and Skype were incompatible--but there is no fix for it.

To this date Toshiba is not fixing this problem. In the meantime I can use my computer and it will just crash for no reason. Can you imagine how pissed off I am right now. I will never ever buy another Toshiba product again as long as I live.

I lost all my documents and have a continous problem with the computer crashing.

I bought a toshiba A 135 at best buy in pittsburgh march 23,2007. March 16,2008.In the middle of uploading my photos, the computer freezes.I was unable to do anything. I take the computer to Best Buy where I purchased the computer and they tell me they are going to run a diagnostic on the laptop. Told me they could do it that day. It was not done.

The next day I called Best Buy and asked for my computer back, that I was going to take it to a Toshiba authorized dealer to repair my motherboard. Best Buy can't find my computer. I get a call saying they found it in the pile to ship out. I was ticked. So my computer not even a year old needs a new motherboard.

After about a month and a half with out a computer, i get it back with a new motherboard. Now in November , I go to turn on my computer and it doesnt work! Im ticked again. Again i get a diagnostic and find that my motherboard is fried...AGAIN!! The laptop isnt even 2 years old.

I called Toshiba and have spent hours on hold and on the phone with toshiba When I call I get people that do not speak clear english. and clearly don't understand english. I want a new working computer and i'm not paying for it, is what I said to the two gentlemen I've spoken to. I keep being told all they can do for me is have the computer sent for a new motherboard and I'd have to pay for it all. SORRY..not good enough. The computer is not even 2 years old and I have to get my 3rd motherboard in the system...AND i have to pay for it. So when I go to be transferred to Customer Relations, I get disconnected. I will not stop fighting with Toshiba until they give me a new computer for free. Not fix mine..give me a new one..!!

As a result in losing my computer, I have losts hours of my work. I do a ton of work from home and am unable to get any thing done with out a computer.
