Rebate advice from Tiger Direct

Marc of San Francisco (6/28/04):
I purchased a Toshiba 6100 notebook computer on 2/3/2003. I also purchased from TigerDirect.com an ONSITE extended 3 year warranty. This service was advertised on their website and sold to me when I bought the computer. On 6/25/04, the computer died and I called the warranty company Warranty Corp of America (1-888-969-2260, contract H2FTD210828). I was told they do not do onsite service. They did offer their standard depot service which takes about 4 weeks.

I am out of business until my computer is picked up, fixed and returned. I will have to borrow or rent a computer, reload my software, and make it work in the meantime.

Douglas of Harrisburg PA (5/5/04):
11/7/03, bought notebook computer and a 2 year ON SITE warranty. On 4/30/04 the machine starting malfunctioning. I called the Warranty Service and was told that they would not perform an ON SITE repair and that I had to ship my computer to them and wait 4-6 weeks for them to repair or reimbuse me for the purchase.

I contacted Tiger Direct and they agreed that I purchased a 2 year ON SITE warranty. They ordered me to contact the warranty company again and advise them that Tiger Direct agreed with me. I've now called the Warranty Company (a subcontractor of Tiger Direct) three times and they state that the warranty was sold to me in error; they will not honor it.

I can't get either party to accept responsibility. They each tell me to contact the other party, they can do nothing. In the meantime, I have a defective machine and can get neither party to act. At this point I neither trust Tiger Direct or the Warranty Company and just want my money back - $1000 - so I can buy a computer from a local company that I can deal with directly.
