Brian of Nevada City CA (10/30/04):
On 9-14-2003 a Sony computer monitor model GDM-F00 caught fire while in sleep mode. Office door was kicked in fire was put out. Desk damaged, monitor destroyed, smoke damage and damage from fire extinguisher.

Both the responding fire department report and the investigation report cited the monitor as problem. Photographs show nothing else near monitor. Eyewitness as well. Sony insurance claims fire started elsewhere. Office closed for two weeks, repainted, and cleaned, door repaired. Total cash damages less than $4000.

Joseph of Downey CA (8/25/04):
Purchased Sony monitor HMD A440, has blank screen upon receipt, thus sent to San Diego Repair Center. After the completion of repair, the return shipping was delayed and held at facility, while their repair status site indicated it would return to me within 1 business day.

Called tech support and they had no idea about the situation. Tech inform me, a person from San Diego will call within 24 hours, but never did. Called once again next day, tech support told me same thing once again and just told me to wait, without any definite time period. I complained about the situation, since I can not just wait without knowing how long I have to wait, and got transferred to supervisor.

Supervisor Jeff was very rude in providing any information. He did not show any effort in resolving the matter and refused to answer the questions in truth. He denied the knowledge of existence of any superior management who will take customer complaints. (I found out the mailing address of customer correspondence office, through another rep.) He, just repeated and told me to wait without any time frame or reason for delay.

Now 5 days already been passed with status still showing, product is repaired and will be shipped back to me in 1 business day.
