Siemens

Carlos of Lancaster CA (4/1/04):
Regarding my SpeedStream 2604 DSL/Cable Router, the quick-start guide states, in order to configure the router, I would need to go to an HTTP address where a setup wizard would launch and I would need to follow the on-screen instructions. Well, no wizard and no instructions. I clicked on the links I needed to get the router going and I was directed to invalid pages. I am online, but I cannot configure the firewall (which I paid for) thus allowing me to get the Blaster worm as soon as I got online.

I contacted them via e-mail twice with no response from the company. The last time, I told them that if I didn't get a response, I would file a complaint...so here I am.

Damage Resulting: Had to kill the Blaster worm on my computer and the headache of dealing with a non-user-friendly, mediocre product. I guess you get what you pay for!

Lohan of New York, NY writes (7/6/02):
I purchased a SpeedStream SS2614 DSL\CABLE Router on Tuesday 7/2/02. On the packaging, the manufacturer clearly indicated that the product comes with 24 hours per day, 7 days per week tech support. I called on 7/6/02 at 2:10 am in order to obtain tech support for the Router. I needed to find out why some of my applications were not able to detect an internet connection after the installation process.

I called and spoke with Geannie. After describing the situation to her, she informed me that she cannot provide me with support for she is the only person at the call center at the time. She then went on to describe to me that someone would have to give me a call at 7:00 am in the morning of 7/6/02. i told her that when I purchased the product, I got it because it came with 24/7 tech support. She said that there is nothing she can do and I would have to wait till the morning.

I went further and informed here that by not providing me with support, the company was in fact in breach of contract. I told her that not providing me with support was simply unacceptable. She then hung up on me.

We would say that Siemens may indeed have violated Truth In Advertising laws but it's not likely Lohan has suffered sufficient monetary damages to make legal action worthwhile.
