Sandisk

Carla of Mt. Upton, NY June 5, 2009

I purchased a 20.00 cruzer micro 8GB USB flash drive. I put pictures and documents on the drive and couldn't back it up for reasons unknown. The drive stopped being accessible, the light wouldn't light up, and the drive wouldn't start when put in the computer. I was told the drive blew but the information was still accessible. I was told that I would have to pay them 125.00 to recover the information using their contract company L.C. Tech. It's a con that is all over the web. I didn't know about this and there are pictures and legal documents that I must retrieve from the drive.

I placed an online order with SanDisk and verified the order information. I received an order confirmation along with an invoice from SanDisk and also an acknowledgement from my credit card company that they had authorized the transaction to SanDisk. Later the same day I received an e-mail from SanDisk that they had cancelled my order. I called SanDisk customer service and was told that they had limited information about my order and could not tell me why it was cancelled. They also told me that they could not reinstate the order and to go to their website and place a new order. This I did only to discover that the prices for the two items I originally ordered had now increased over 200%. Now I understand why they did not want to fulfill my original order.

Beware of the SanDisk online store. This is very reminiscent of the old bait and switch scheme.

SanDisk company advertises on Netzero, which I've trusted. I placed an order for an advertised product which their ad said had 2,000 units available. I placed the order about 2pm. I received notice from them more than 24 hours later informing me that the item is on back order. In order to cancel, you must notify them within 24 hours. I don't consider this a proper way to do business. If I must notify them within 24 hours, they need to inform me of the BACK-ORDER status, before their established period has expired.

NONE, but when I order on-line, I don't wait for back-ordered orders. I always cancel and look for the item elsewhere. Occasionally, in the past, I've waited several months for back orders to be filled, (not by this company) and in the meantime, the price has dropped by the time the order is filled. I shop on-line to save money, AND time.
