Taiwan's Acer Buys Gateway, eMachines
Gateway Buys eMachines

Larry of Powell, OH March 11, 2006

I purchased an Emachines computer at Circuit City on 11/26/05. I mailed the rebate form on 12/20/05. Emachines sent a postcard stating that my rebate was not postmarked within 30 days, and the rebate request for 50 was denied.

Jim of Riverside, CT March 10, 2006

I bought an eMachines tower from Circuit City in October 2005. The main reason I chose it over the comparable Compaq was due to the 50 rebate. I immediately sent in the required info to get my rebate and periodically followed-up (unsuccessfully) to see if it had been processed. When I finally got an answer in early 2006, the eMachines rep told me that my information was never received!! Per the suggestion of the rebate center, I went back to Circuit City to get a photocopy of the UPC from the same model only to find out my model had been discontinued.

Circuit City searched their warehouses for that model and were unable to locate one. I was told by the rebate center that since I had sent in the original UPC cut from the box, I had no recourse. This is unbelievable to me. I have all the dated purchase and rebate receipts that prove that I am elligible for a rebate but due to my letter getting mysteriously lost in the mail, I have been refused my rebate. After seeing dozens of others' similar complaints, I am starting to seriously doubt that my information was not received.

In an effort to get my 50.00, I called a corporate customer number in Utah and spoke to "Michael" who was rude, totally unhelpful and left me completely frustrated. On a subsequent call weeks later, my wife spoke to "Matt" at the same Utah number and was treated equally rudely and unfairly. This process has had me wondering and finding this list of complaints has confirmed that this is one big scam. Get consumers to run out during 4th quarter and the Holiday season with a promise of a rebate and then provide some lame excuse or invalid reason to weasel out of it. I can't believe this has not yet been exposed. I plan to take this to the top and hopefully we will all get our due money.

Purchased eMachines at CompUSA 1/30/06. Mailed rebate stuff (completed to the absolute letter)on 2/7/06 - well within 30 day deadline. Online status kept showing as "in process". I inquired on-line several times with no response as to status. Finally got thru to live body (incredible wait - thanks for speaker phone)to be told that my on-line inquiries represented a "second request" for the rebate. Therefore, my claim is rejected because I "applied twice". Pete was very pleasant, but it was obvious there was no appeal - they just get to keep my 100. No more rebate purchases for me - if the price isn't good without it, I'm not buying.

My boyfriend Jeff and I bought an EMachines computer with LCD monitor at Best Buy on 12/26/05. We promptly mailed in the 250 worth of rebates (which were not well advertised to begin with!). EMachines sent us our 150 rebate for the printer quickly (we had filed online). The 50 rebate for the desktop came timely as well. However, the 50 for the monitor has been ridiculous.

Although we sent all of our rebates in on the same day, in the same mailbox, we received a postcard stating that they could not honor our request because our submission had not been postmarked within thirty days. We have had to wait on hold, over and over. We had to fax all the information in again. We have had to pull our hair out waiting for our money back for well over the time originally stated on the receipt just because some how they entered the purchase date of our item as November instead of December. AND we still haven't received our 50 rebate! I am going to try again to reach them, but this is unacceptable business practice, in my opinion.

I purchased an emachines computer at Circuit City on 11/22/05. I put my rebate form in the mailbox 12/17/05. However, I received a communication from emachines that my rebate was not postmarked within 30 days. I have complained to the BBB, the Ohio Attorney General, and the FCC. I hope that others in this situation will contact the same officials. I believe they are running a scam. If they make it difficult for people to receive rebates, they will make more money. I still have not received my 50.

Same old story as the other customer's complaints already listed- I purchased an EMachine Bundle from Best Buy 12-9-05 and all rebates, etc. were sent 1-03-06. I have received the checks from Best Buy but NOT from eMachines itself - and by the sounds of things - never will. I wil try to follow up with eMachines itself, but now I am not hopeful. The stores themselves probably have no reason to enforce these rebates since they have gotten their money, but this is false advertising and someone - other than we customers - should be able to do something to stop the thievery. Maybe we should stop buying the product?

I sent my eMachines rebate reform in a few days after purchasing a computer on Dec. 5, 2005. About a month and a half later I received a card stating that my submission exceeded the 30 day limit. Hogwash! I have contacted the Postal authorities to find out if it takes three weeks to send mail to Niagara Falls, NY.

I purchased a eMachine for my daughter on 12/24/05 I have been waiting for the rebate checks and never got them I did phone them -- they said with in 2-4 weeks. I cannot get a answer and I WANT one NOW

Van of Stockton, CA February 14, 2006

I purchased an eMachines Desktop back in November 2005 from BestBuy with 4 rebates totals 2 of which was from the Gateway (eMachines) which total up to 100 dollars. After 2 months after sending it, I checked the status of the rebates to find that it was NOT honor because they said I sent it beyond the 30 days after purchased which was NOT even true. I email them and explain to them that it was purchase on 11/27/05, postmarked by 12/19/05 throught certified mail which I also provided confirmation numbers to them and note that from USPS.com they received it on 12/22/05 all within 30 days.

Then I didn't hear anything from them anymore, no return emails, nothing so I called them and the customer service said, they can't take my words for it, WHAT kind of crap is that? I have proved through the confimation numbers.

I bought an emachines computer @ Best Buy in OKC, OK on 11-6-05 with the understanding that if I filled out the rebate forms and sent all the information requested with the form I would receive a total of 300 in rebates. I sent the filled out rebate forms and all the other information they requested on 11-15-05. I received 2 rebate checks from other companies I had sent rebate forms to, but I still haven't received my 100 rebate from emachines. The only reason I spent 300 more than I planned to spend on a computer was because I had planned on getting the 300 back.

I took some of the money I used to pay for the computer out of my small business account thinking when I received my rebate checks I could replace the money I took out. If I had known emachines wasn't honest about sending out rebate checks I would have never bought their computer. I could have bought a cheaper computer so I wouldn't have had to take money out of my small business account to help pay for it.
