Russell of Normal IL (01/25/08) I bought the emachine on 12/03/07 and sent my rebates in on12/07/07. I sent all my rebate papers and receipts and cut the upc code off the box and sent them in. Now they are cheating me out of my rebate. They must have gotten some of my paper or they would not have sent me the postcard. This is the second gateway I have owned. It is really sad they want to beat me out of the rebate when I did what I was told to do.
I will not buy anymore of their products.
Robert Bonita Springs FL (10/24/07) On July 13, 2007 I purchased an EMACHINE T5088 computer. It came with rebates from Office Depot, Cannon and EMACHINES. I received rebates from Office Depot and Cannon, but can't get the EMACHINE rebate. I mailed all forms, upc's and receipts as instructed. When I inquired a couple of months later, They said they had no record of the rebate. Then I faxed them all the copies as directed. When inquired as to the status of my rebate, they said they had only received the fax cover. My fax said all pages were transmitted. I then scanned and emailed the same information. I received an email saying they couldn't use my P.O. box so I replied with my physical street address. A few days ago I received an email saying they could not find my rebate in their system and said I should fax or mail the same things I had mailed, faxed and emailed.
$50 and hours of time.
Millicent of Decatur IL (07/11/07) My 83-year old husband started this journey in May 2006 after he waited 5 months to hear about his rebate. He received the Best Buy rebates, but the E-Machine rebates for the PC and the monitor never came. First they said no record of rebate request; after faxing it again, they said it would be reprocessed, then they said, unable to locate rebate submission, then our records indicate a valid rebate submission and is being processed. Sorry to post that he died in January 2007 at Age 84 - never having received his E-Machine rebate. He had records of everything sent as required.
Duane of IA (05/26/07)
There was a $50 rebate for the monitor and a $50 rebate for the desktop. I mailed in the required forms and UPC codes shortly after the purchase. About a month later I received an email and post card saying what I sent in was not correct. I filled out their web form three different times to try to find out exactly what else I needed to send in but never received a reply or phone call. I also added a comment to call me to get this issue resolved. I did not receive any reply or phone call.
I resent the information they requested a second time and again added a note to call me if the information I sent was not correct. This week I received an email saying the rebate had been rejected because it was received 30 days after the date of purchase.

Peggy of Portland OR (03/03/07)
I have had this T2542 for 3 1/2 years. It worked fine until a couple nights ago. When I pushed the power on button trying to turn it on, it lit up, but the fans and the hard drive were not on. I purchased a new power supply and tried it again. The only sound I could hear was the low humming sound from the power supply-the fan on the power supply didn't run either.
Ron of Linden, NJ (01/20/07) I was lured into purchasing an emachine desktop with the offering of several rebates. The store where I purchased the desktop helped me fill out form and they even attached the UPC Label to the rebate form so it would be noticed immediately by the rebate center. All I needed to do was to put it in an envelope, add a stamp and mail, which I did that very same day.
4 weeks later I get a postcard stating the UPC Label was missing from my forms and my rebate denied. I called customer service and I told them what I had done and was repeatedly told "sorry, but denied".
I faxed in all my info - again denied. I called customer service and was told to go back to the store where I purchased my unit and get a copy of the label. Now I find out the item is a discontinued unit and getting a label is impossible.
Steve of Olympia WA (01/08/07)
I didn’t receive my rebate from eMachine and I’ve lost $50.00 because of it.
Michael of Ashland OR (09/30/06) Bought an Emachaine computer in May 06. Sent in rebate forms for 300.00. Recieved one rebate check for 150.00. But, nothing from Cannon or the othe rebate from emachines. When I try to call their rebate phone I get stuck in voice jail.
Bonnie of Calgary, Alberta (09/29/06) Did not receive $50.00 rebate. They sent me a post card several months after the initial mailing of the information asking for miising info. This was sent to them and have not had a response from the company or rebate people. This was instigated with a purchase of an emachine T5010 P4 on January 30, 2006 by my 14 year old son with his own money. $50.00 is a great deal to him.
My son purchased the computer and $50.00 to a 14 year old is a great deal of money and would take a long time to make in the work force that he is eligible for.
Cathy of Bristol, TN (08/26/06) On May 1st, I purchased an emachine package because of the rebates offered. A $150 rebate, three $50 rebates, one being from Canon for the printer, all others were offered from eMachines.
The sales person told me send my rebates by certified mail, which I did. After a while, I received emails saying I had NOT sent in the required information, then I received postcards saying I had to resend UPCs for the products and the serial numbers, which I did.
They have sent emails saying that two rebate checks were mailed on 8/23/06 for $50 each. They have said nothing of the $150 rebate and I have not heard from Canon about the $50 for the printer.
Shawn of Starke FL (08/24/06) Had a mail-in rebate sent in & had no response back on the rebate, which was $150. It's pretty bad when you have rebate & you send off for you should get something back.
Perly of Las Vegas, NV (08/20/06) On December 19, 2005, I purchased an eMachine D3107 Desktop PC for $549.97, that supposedly had a $150 mail-in rebate. The rebate was never sent and the company didn't even have an explanation for their false advertisement.
The computer stopped working after exactly 29 days. The first thing to do was to contact Office Depot but I was informed that they have nothing to do with malfunction of a computer, to contact eMachines. eMachines is giving me the running around and refused to take responsibility for their piece of junk. I believe they are both responsible, Home Depot and eMachines.
David of Thousand Oaks, CA (07/17/06) I purchased an eMachine in Dec 2005 because of the price after rebates. I mailed all the rebate paperwork in the next day.
When I never heard anything, I e-mailed them a few months later and I got a form reply indicating I should fax the materials. I did so the same day.
I haven't heard anything (two months later) so I e-mailed again, and got the exact same form reply.
Dale of Saint Albans, MO (07/13/06) On 2-22-06, I sent all the appropriate forms for the emachines $50 rebate. I still have a copy of the rebate form, rebate receipt, and UPC.
When I did not received my rebate as of 7-13-06, I called their automated phone line and received a message that there was an error in my submission. I never received a written message to that effect.
emachines has lost my family and me as a future customer.
Barbara of Houston, TX (07/02/06) I bought a computer with a $50 rebate and promptly sent all the information needed for my rebate only to receive a notice a little over a month later saying I didn't send the upc symbol, which is ridiculous because I did.
Looking into this problem online I discovered many other people getting screwed out of their rebates for similar unfound reasons.
One of my reasons for buy the computer was the fact that it came with a $50 rebate.
Don of Portland, TN (06/30/06) I was due a $200 bundle rebate and did not get it. I looked on the web site and it said I was missing some receipts, which I did send. It also had a deadline on it for sending proof. I never got that mail that I was missing any receipts. I emailed them twice with no response.
I could have bought a good Dell for the $200 more.
Kara of Brandon MS (06/24/06) The problem is i have about $170.00 worth of rebates due from them and they were all sent off in February 2006. I have tried to contact them on several occasions and they refuse to respond to me. I have been quite patient and now I am getting very upset by the fact that they don't respond to anything.
I am a stay at home mom and my husband is the one who works full time. We live on a fixed income and money is not something we have to spare. I have 3 small children and they are 2, 4, and 6 years old. The money is to be used for my children's school supplies and stuff needed for school. This has really put us in a bad way and I want something to be done about it.
Rayworth of Windsor, Nova Scotia (06/11/06) I submitted my rebate form with all proper infromation 2 days after purchasing my new computer in Dec 05 from Future Shop Canada. After several telephone conversations, emails and faxes, 6 months later, still no $50 cheque. I had no idea they were such a disreputable organization. Very disappointing.
Mark of Orem, UT (06/05/06) I purchased an eMachines computer and monitor on December 29, 2005, at Circuit City. My decision to purchase this product was based upon the offer of a mail-in rebate.
My purchase constituted my acceptance of the offer, creating a binding and enforceable contract between us. I have performed my obligations under the contract. I paid the full purchase price, and then proceeded to fill in the rebate form. I included all information requested to process my rebate. But to date I have not received a check.
I lost $100.
Valerie of Modesto, CA (05/25/06) Rebates have not been received for the BestBuy Bundle package. I received BestBuy rebate for $150 timely but not the $200 from eMachines. I received postcards, with several different reasons for not honoring rebates.
My neighbor bought the same computer and has had the same experience. After receiving the postcards, she mailed copies for the eMachine rebates 2X and still hasn't received them. She said she isn't going to bother anymore and I believe that is what eMachines wants people to do, just give up on asking for the rebates.
Clifford of Fletcher, NC (05/25/06) I purchased an emachine from Best Buy to receive the rebates that was offered. The rebates from Best Buy & Canon were handled with efficiency, but the two $50 rebates from emachines has not been received.
Seven weeks after I sent in my rebate forms to emachines, I received a post card saying that they required my street address - I returned the info the next day. One month later I emailed emachines for status. They replied a few days later that they required street address, serial # and upc symbol. I told them if their company was that disreputable & needed the money so bad that they should just keep the $100.
Jimmy of Washington, GA (05/20/06) I have not received the promised rebates. I met all the conditions.
Obviously others have the same complaints.
Jacqueline of Bethlehem PA (05/18/06) I submitted 2 rebates to e-machine (both 50.00 rebates) items bought through Best Buy. I have been checking on line to see their status since I have not gotten a check and today I called their 1-800 number given to me by Best Buy to check the status that way and it said status INVALID! I did everything I was suppose to do and I do have copies of what I submitted. I then came to your website and see that a LOT of people have submitted the same types of rebates like myself and are having the same problems in getting their rebates back as well. We are talking 100.00 here and I would like to know if there is any way to get my rebate!! This is such a rip-off and I also think that Best Buy should be aware of this and not offer this rebate if there are so many problems!
Charles of Decatur, IL (05/14/06) In January 2006, I purchased an E-Machine with a rebate from Best Buy that offered a $50 from the manufacturer.
First, emachines told me they didn't receive all my information. Luckily, I had a copy of everything and told them what I had. They asked me to fax it - which I did and received a confirmation that they received it. Now they deny receiving it!
Mary of Fairview, NC (05/09/06) In Nov. 2005 I purchased an emachine from Best Buy that had $300 in rebates. I have never received a rebate from emachines on the modem.
This company should stop the rip off. It takes time to fill out the forms, cut out the required info, mail it in...all for nothing!
Loren of Brielle NJ (04/23/06) On 1/8/06, we purchased an emachine computer from Circuit City in Eatontown, NJ. The computer was purchased with the promise of rebates from emachine of $250 (one $150 rebate and two $50 rebates).
None of these rebates have been paid to date, however, we have received two postcards from emachines stating 1. The serial number was not submitted and 2. An original UPC code was not submitted. I photocopied everything I mailed to emachine and these items were included in my requests. While I haven't heard about the $150 rebate, I'm sure it is only a matter of time before I also receive some sort of postcard on that also.
Attempts to contact emachine have not been successful to date, although I will attempt to continue these efforts for satisfaction. Unfortunately, at this juncture, I have very little faith I will be satisfied. I believe this a bait and switch on behalf of both emachine as well as Circuit City who advertised these computers.
Wayne of Callao VA (04/10/06) I believe emachine rebate ads are a bait and switch. I sent rebate forms, jumped through all their hoops and sent in plenty of time BUT now they say it was sent late and they can't send me my $50.00 rebate. This has not just happened to me it's a lot of people. But I sent them so many emails that they couldn't keep up with what they had said. Below are quotes from their emails to me.
"We are not in a position to assist you further with this rebate. Your documents were post marked 01/18/06 and your purchase date is 11/06/05." " We cannot honor your request without your street address. Your submission was not postmarked within 30 days of the purchase date. >>>>>-Purchase date: 11/26/05 >>>>>-Postmark date: 02/05/06" "Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding your rebate. We have your purchase date as 11/29/05 and we have your postmark date as 02/05/06"
They can't decide which lie to tell!!!
Barbara of North Highlands CA (04/06/06) I purchased the T 33IT Computer desktop with flat CRT Monitor that promised 2, $50.00 rebates and I mailed in my rebates three days after purchase only to find out 9 weeks later that they say that I did not send in my rebate in a timely manner they did not even notify me, I had to call them and tried to email (to no prevail) to fine out that my request for my rebate has been denied. I mailed out all of my rebates except for the two for Best Buy ( where I made my purchases) those I did on line and I received all but one that is still pending and of course the emachine rebates I will never receive.
My purchases were many and I must say that I will never buy from emachines again and I was tempted on returning it to best buy for a full refund for bad customer service, but... the receipt states: Receipt valid for rebate purchases only! Products which have the UPC CODE REMOVED may not be returned for a refund. It is a big scammmmmmmmmmm! I am so disgusted!
I am a disabled veteran and can not afford to be ripped off.
Rebecca of Roanoke VA (04/06/06) My situation is liike many others. I purchased computer bundle from Best Buy 12/11/05, mailed all required documentation 12/16/05 for two $50 rebates, received rebate for monitor but they are refusing to pay $50 rebate for tower. I was told to re-submit documents by FAX. I did so on 3/1/06 but the UPC seal was mailed in December and I have no copy. I have made numerous, exhausting calls and always get nowhere.
I do not intend to give up. I complied with the rules and expect my rebate to be honored. If they do not want to pay them, why do they offer them? I will never purchase another Emachine product or deal with Best Buy again, since they choose to do business with a company that cheats customers. How can I resolve this problem?
I had to retire recently and have income of less than $1,000 a month. I purchased the computer system due to the rebates so that I can possibly work from home to help support myself. $50 is not important to Bill Gates and his company, but it is important to me. Please help me!
Roberta of Humboldt TN (04/04/06) I received a postcard stating I could not get the Christmas emachine rebate because I sent it in too late. I sent in two rebates to emachine on the same day and did receive one back. I went on line to rebates.com and never got a response. I feel that somewhere someone has the rebate in their pocket. Like the emachine company.
Dale of Slc UT (03/29/06) I sent in rebate form but didn't receive money back. Said I was late but when sent it at postoffice it wasn't late. I won't buy from them again.
Robert of Rocklin CA (03/26/06) I purchased a emachine and monitor plus upgrade vidio card from circuit city about 12/5/05 as a Christmas Gift for my daughter before going in for major back surgery on 12/14/05 they quoted me with mgrs. rebates I said I dont trust them from what others have said about thier rebate practices, they claimed thats not now it was years ago,and besides that these are from the mgr.not them so I completed the deal and now months later they sent me notice I did not return within 30 days, so I'am not entitled to there rebate but rebate was mailed to them with a postage meter stamp Dec.09 2005 prior to my surgery.
Michael of Raleigh NC (03/17/06) Purchased eMachines PC & monitor on 11/26/05 from Best Buy. Mailed completed $50 rebate form for monitor on 12/20/06. Received notification of denial for late submission (>30 days) early Feb. '06. Called three times to learn that they recorded the postmark on 1/3/06, yet recorded it as 1/7/06 (IMPOSSIBLE!). They say they're looking into it, but still no resolution (3/17/06).
Larry of Powell OH (03/11/06) I purchased an Emachines computer at Circuit City on 11/26/05. I mailed the rebate form on 12/20/05. Emachines sent a postcard stating that my rebate was not postmarked within 30 days, and the rebate request for $50 was denied.
Jim of Riverside CT (03/10/06) I bought an eMachines tower from Circuit City in October 2005. The main reason I chose it over the comparable Compaq was due to the $50 rebate. I immediately sent in the required info to get my rebate and periodically followed-up (unsuccessfully) to see if it had been processed. When I finally got an answer in early 2006, the eMachines rep told me that my information was never received!! Per the suggestion of the rebate center, I went back to Circuit City to get a photocopy of the UPC from the same model only to find out my model had been discontinued.
Circuit City searched their warehouses for that model and were unable to locate one. I was told by the rebate center that since I had sent in the original UPC cut from the box, I had no recourse. This is unbelievable to me. I have all the dated purchase and rebate receipts that prove that I am elligible for a rebate but due to my letter getting mysteriously lost in the mail, I have been refused my rebate. After seeing dozens of others' similar complaints, I am starting to seriously doubt that my information was not received.
In an effort to get my $50.00, I called a corporate customer number in Utah and spoke to "Michael" who was rude, totally unhelpful and left me completely frustrated. On a subsequent call weeks later, my wife spoke to "Matt" at the same Utah number and was treated equally rudely and unfairly. This process has had me wondering and finding this list of complaints has confirmed that this is one big scam. Get consumers to run out during 4th quarter and the Holiday season with a promise of a rebate and then provide some lame excuse or invalid reason to weasel out of it. I can't believe this has not yet been exposed. I plan to take this to the top and hopefully we will all get our due money.
Dave of Vancouver WA (03/08/06) Purchased eMachines at CompUSA 1/30/06. Mailed rebate stuff (completed to the absolute letter)on 2/7/06 - well within 30 day deadline. Online status kept showing as "in process". I inquired on-line several times with no response as to status. Finally got thru to live body (incredible wait - thanks for speaker phone)to be told that my on-line inquiries represented a "second request" for the rebate. Therefore, my claim is rejected because I "applied twice". Pete was very pleasant, but it was obvious there was no appeal - they just get to keep my $100. No more rebate purchases for me - if the price isn't good without it, I'm not buying.
Julie of Evanston IL (03/07/06) My boyfriend Jeff and I bought an EMachines computer with LCD monitor at Best Buy on 12/26/05. We promptly mailed in the $250 worth of rebates (which were not well advertised to begin with!). EMachines sent us our $150 rebate for the printer quickly (we had filed online). The $50 rebate for the desktop came timely as well. However, the $50 for the monitor has been ridiculous.
Although we sent all of our rebates in on the same day, in the same mailbox, we received a postcard stating that they could not honor our request because our submission had not been postmarked within thirty days. We have had to wait on hold, over and over. We had to fax all the information in again. We have had to pull our hair out waiting for our money back for well over the time originally stated on the receipt just because some how they entered the purchase date of our item as November instead of December. AND we still haven't received our $50 rebate! I am going to try again to reach them, but this is unacceptable business practice, in my opinion.
Lana of Dayton OH (03/03/06) I purchased an emachines computer at Circuit City on 11/22/05. I put my rebate form in the mailbox 12/17/05. However, I received a communication from emachines that my rebate was not postmarked within 30 days. I have complained to the BBB, the Ohio Attorney General, and the FCC. I hope that others in this situation will contact the same officials. I believe they are running a scam. If they make it difficult for people to receive rebates, they will make more money. I still have not received my $50.
Donna of Pittsburgh PA (03/03/06) Same old story as the other customer's complaints already listed- I purchased an EMachine Bundle from Best Buy 12-9-05 and all rebates, etc. were sent 1-03-06. I have received the checks from Best Buy but NOT from eMachines itself - and by the sounds of things - never will. I wil try to follow up with eMachines itself, but now I am not hopeful. The stores themselves probably have no reason to enforce these rebates since they have gotten their money, but this is false advertising and someone - other than we customers - should be able to do something to stop the thievery. Maybe we should stop buying the product?
Ron of Detroit MI (03/01/06) I sent my eMachines rebate reform in a few days after purchasing a computer on Dec. 5, 2005. About a month and a half later I received a card stating that my submission exceeded the 30 day limit. Hogwash! I have contacted the Postal authorities to find out if it takes three weeks to send mail to Niagara Falls, NY.
Timothy of Scotts Valley CA (02/19/06) I purchased a eMachine for my daughter on 12/24/05 I have been waiting for the rebate checks and never got them I did phone them -- they said with in 2-4 weeks. I cannot get a answer and I WANT one NOW
Van of Stockton CA (02/14/06) I purchased an eMachines Desktop back in November 2005 from BestBuy with 4 rebates totals 2 of which was from the Gateway (eMachines) which total up to 100 dollars. After 2 months after sending it, I checked the status of the rebates to find that it was NOT honor because they said I sent it beyond the 30 days after purchased which was NOT even true. I email them and explain to them that it was purchase on 11/27/05, postmarked by 12/19/05 throught certified mail which I also provided confirmation numbers to them and note that from USPS.com they received it on 12/22/05 all within 30 days.
Then I didn't hear anything from them anymore, no return emails, nothing so I called them and the customer service said, they can't take my words for it, WHAT kind of crap is that? I have proved through the confimation numbers.
Marla of Waukomis OK (01/27/06) I bought an emachines computer @ Best Buy in OKC, OK on 11-6-05 with the understanding that if I filled out the rebate forms and sent all the information requested with the form I would receive a total of $300 in rebates. I sent the filled out rebate forms and all the other information they requested on 11-15-05. I received 2 rebate checks from other companies I had sent rebate forms to, but I still haven't received my $100 rebate from emachines. The only reason I spent $300 more than I planned to spend on a computer was because I had planned on getting the $300 back.
I took some of the money I used to pay for the computer out of my small business account thinking when I received my rebate checks I could replace the money I took out. If I had known emachines wasn't honest about sending out rebate checks I would have never bought their computer. I could have bought a cheaper computer so I wouldn't have had to take money out of my small business account to help pay for it.
Scott of Streetsboro OH (01/26/06) I Purchased desktop PC package with two rebates ($250 & $50) from E-machine at Circuit City on Nov26th and mailed the rebates on December 14th. E-machines / Gateway said the mail was not postmarked within 30 days (it was and I sent it with a receipt from the post office). Gateway "Customer Relations Manager" Micheal (That was how he spelled it) was arrogant, actually said "Your post office and rebate receipts mean nothing to me", refused to give me his actual name or employee I.D. or number, and made statements like "You don't need to know anything else because you are wrong", he refused to notify or allow me to speak to his supervisor, and told me that Gateway's policy is that they will not check my rebate unless I pay him a $29.00 fee with a credit card.
Jane of Wellston OH (01/21/06) I bought an Emachine @ Circuit City in Cols, Oh. I took the time to fill out a ton of paper work. My mailing address is a PO Box. The US Postal service will not deliver my mail without this address. I have waited patiently for my rebates, which by the way are sent out to different addresses. I received to cards today, that was sent to my PO Box #, stating they could not send my rebates without a street address. They can send correspondence to my PO Box #, why can't they send the rebates to the PO Box #?
I sent the rebates out on 11/30/05, and on the 01/21/05 I receive a card stating they will not send it until I send the cards back with a street address. Which means if they don't mail it to the PO Box # I may never get it. Why are they allowed to make everything so complicated. I took the time to send all the info ALL I WANT IS MY REBATES! They are the ones that made the offer. I have never had a problem with any other rebates from other companies. Why should this one be so complicated?
Jim of Slidell LA (01/05/06) Never received my $50.00 rebate. I have sent 2 letters, went back to best buy where i bought this emachine with the box. this upc code that is in question is no where to be found. i have everything, receipts serial #'s. not to mention this box went through hurricane katrina. If this is the case i will never purchase anonther emachine nor my family friends, co-workers or neighbors, this rebate is one big scam.
Michael of Belton SC (01/02/06) I purchased a T6522 emachines desktop computer from circuit city. It had a 50 dollar rebate which I sent off immdediately with all the proper forms included. Lo and behold, 2 months later, I get a card in the mail stating that my promotion wasn't valid, with no other explanation, and not even a number to call and inquire about. Since I worked at Circuit City where I purchased it, I found a number to the circuit city rebate line, which in turn eventually allowed me to find the number to the rebate center.
After explaining they had made a mistake, the guy ADMITTED they were at fault. He said an employee there mistyped the promotion number so that was why my rebate didn't process. He said he'd make a note of it, and would gladly give me the 50 bucks rightfully mine. But I had to re-submit everything.
That was a hassle as I'd already sent the original everything. But eventually I got it three days later, and mailed it off, with a note reminding the company they said even though the deadline had passed, they would still give me the rebate since it was their fault it failed the first time. And I'm simply furious right now because I recieved a postcard informing me my rebate was not honored because it wasn't sent during the right time period.
Francis of Ormond Beach FL (12/31/05) NEVER RECEIVED REBATE MONEY, AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPS.
Kristi of Papillion NE (12/27/05) I bought an emachine and sent in my proof of purchase and all paperwork for a rebate and now they are asking me to resubmit all my information (again). Good thing I'm prepared to send all copies again, but what about people who are not? This is a scam.
Tracey of Wake Forest NC (12/27/05) Like other consumers, we purchased an eMachine computer which offered $100 in total rebates. About 60 days after submitting all the required rebate information - receipts, UPC codes, Proof of purchase - we rec'd a postcard indicating that we did not provide valid information for the $50 rebate on the monitor and we're still waiting on the other $50 rebate.
Tried to got to the www.rebatestatus.com website, but everytime we entered the information to contact eMachines about the rebate - the web site always errors out (how convenient). I am going to contact our local TV station which has a consumer advocate desk (Five on your side) and see what they will do - for all consumers that have been duped by the this obvious scam!!!
Julie of Omaha NE (12/19/05) Emachine kept saying I didn't send them all the proper material, and I did somewhere in this house is the copy but I have broke my leg and unable to find it. I will always document after this. This is just a ploy to get the consumers business. My computer was at NFM which give me a good price. Apparently the company thought this was too good of a price to get a rebate.
O.d. of Monticello KY (12/18/05) I bought an emachine at office depot . It came with a $100.00 rebate. I filled out all the paperwork and sent off all the info for the rebate. I wated for my rebate and it never came. I called the 800 number and the opperater said that thay could not give me a rebate because I had a P.O. address. No one said at the store that I had to have a resident address when I paid over $900.00 for this piece of junk.
I gave them the address of my brouther. It has never been sent. Thay told me it would take 2 weeks it has been over 2 months. I am tired of getting screwed by everyone. If I tell someone that I will do something I do it no matter what the cost. Even if I lose money.
Janet of Greensburg PA (12/05/05) I purchased a "bundle package" claiming $450.00 worth of rebates. All rebates from Best Buy and the Lexmark company have been received but nothing from emachines which should total $125.00. The purchase was September 21, 2005 and the interest is now piling up on my credit card bill. I can't get a human to talk to at their 800 #. This is a bunch of garbage. I would not even have bought this computer if it hadn't been for the rebates.
Bruce of Newburyport MA (11/29/05) I purchased a EMachine computer package 8 weeks ago I told I would get a $50.00 MONITOR REBATE + a $50.00 DESKTOP REBATE. I decided to call the rebate center and they they said they didnt receive anything from me. I paid over $1300.00 for my system and trying to stick me for my rebate but I made copies of everything. They told me to resumit my proof of purchase. I'm going to but I was told it would take another 6-8 weeks. Something should be done to stop this.
Rene of Matthews NC (11/21/05) I purchased eMachine through Best Buy 9/27/05. Have received rebates from Best Buy but nothing from eMachines. Not even sure who to call to find status of rebate and have no correspondence from eMachines.
Cristina of Jacksonville NC (10/25/05) I have resubmitted my rebate twice now and I am getting the same runaround as i did the first time I sent it in. First they told me they didn't have it and i was always told they never even heard of the model computer I purchased. i was told to resend it and they would see what they could do in contacting them to see if they got the resubmittion i was asked what address i sent it to and they couldn't help me without the information
C G of Sayville NY (10/25/05) In august I bought a computer from them, and it was advertised for $50 in mail rebate. After I sent EVERYTHING they needed (including the original receipt) I got a card in the mail telling that I didnt send the right bar code. I know for a fact that I sent it. Anyway, I dont have the original box, the original receipt I already sent it and when I tried to talk to somebody on the phone (the 800 number) and complaint about it all that this woman could say is that they were right and I was wrong. She was very very rude; I tried to talk to somebody else but she was keep repeating that there is no one there, even though I could hear voices on the phone. After I while I gave up, because everything was absurd. I never thought that this could happen in America- and I'm sorry I don't have that woman's name, because she is the worse I've ever seen.
Paul of Beaufort SC (10/19/05) I purchased a T3882 tower, and an Innovision monitor from Best Buy on April 9, 2005. A $50.00 rebate came with the purchase of the tower, and a $50.00 rebate came with the purchase of the monitor - both totaling $100.00. I promptly mailed both the $50.00 rebate forms - with all the necessary forms - to the eMachine rebate center for the rebate of the tower, and the rebate forms to the Best Buy rebate center.
I received the $50.00 rebate for the monitor on 6/1/2005, but have yet received the rebate for the tower. I called eMachines on 6/27/2005, and spoke with Erika. She said eMachines' records showed my $50.00 rebate check was cashed on 6/2/2005; however, I told her I have yet to receive the check - (gee, maybe someone forged my name). I asked her if she could send me a copy of the cancelled check. She said there would be a $29.00 check copy fee. In my experience with dealing with banks, I have never had trouble getting a copy of a cancelled without paying for it.
On 6/28/2005, I mailed a certified letter to eMachines' customer service supervisor in Magna, UT, explaining my rebate situation, and Erika's poor customer service skills. The return ceritified receipt indicated someone signed for the certified letter on 7/5/2005. I have yet to hear a response to my letter. I am not concerned about receiving the $50.00 rebate, as I am disgusted with eMachines' response (or lack thereof) to my complaint. As a courteousy, the least eMachines can do is provide a copy of the cancelled check at no charge. After all, I paid $369.00 for the tower. Can anyone help me gain satisfaction in this matter? Dealing with eMachines has been a nightmare...
Jim of Sayreville NJ (08/15/05) I purchased an emachine monitor and pc at Best Buy. If the machine does not function, you must return it to Best Buy within 30 days. ALSO, usually unbeknownst to the consumer, you must mail in the rebate forms with all the attached documentation, to numerous addresses, within 30 days; "Catch 22". In my case there were 9 addresses for rebates. Now emachines refuses to give me my rebate, stating that "their policy" dictates that the rebate form must be postmarked within the 30 day period.
Presumably, the reasoning behind running a sale with rebates attached, is to lure the consumer into making a purchase in a timely period, in order to move the product off the shelf. When I asked what is the reason for such stringent regulation on postmarking the rebate forms, I was informed, "...because that's the policy." "In other words...", I replied, "it is because it is because it is." Erica's reply..."I'm not going to argue with you, that's the policy". Perhaps they should just say to the consumer, "We've got your money, sucker!" I have, by the way, already received 4 of the 9 rebates, promised at purchase, and expect to receive another 3. I'm certain that emachines cannot afford to be a decent corporation, and return my other 2 rebates.
Ronald of Boca Raton FL (06/22/05) I was denied some of the rebates the offered by EMachines through Office Depot. I sent in the required forms, receipts, UPC codes, etc... My wife and I purchased the computer package 2/16/2005, returned and upgraded the hard drive pkg on 2/17/2005. we submitted the paper work and received rebates on some of the pkg totalling $200.00 back. We at this point e-mailed EMachines to find out we were rejected on the bundle rebate of $150.00 for not having the proper upc code which was offered through Office Depot for this rebate.
I have copies of all my paper work which was mailed mid Feburary. My wife and I made several requests finally getting a response june 3rd stating that the upc code did not match the one needed for the offer and that at this time they can not accept any re submissions for this offer. I believe they just told me I have the proper paper work but they needed to drag there feet... My son in law bought the exact coputer package as I did at the same store the same night my wife and I upgraded our pkg and he has also not received all his rebates. The sales clerk at Office Depot convinced us to upgrade to the better model which also offered the rebate. We are extremely dissatisfied customers of Office Depot and EMachines products and promotions.
Al of Springfield VA (06/01/05) I bought an Emachines Desktop Computer last December 2004, and I have not received the $50 rebate. Customer service at Emachines told me that the check was sent and cashed already. They would not tell me who cashed the check.
Misty of Arlington VA (05/17/05) eMachine told us we cannot get our rebate for a $449.99 CPU purchased on 10/17/04. Even though we received notices from the printer and monitor manufacturers that more information was needed [such as UPC codes], the eMachine CPU manufacturer told us the closing date was 12/2004.
Brenda of Toledo OH (04/29/05) My mom purchased an eMachine monitor for me in August of 2004 and with the monitor came a 50.00 rebate soon after purchasing the monitor I sent off the rebate they received it on 08/30/2004 said it was processed on 09/09/2004 and shipped on 09/17/2004 said that I should receive it on 10/07/2004 they had the correct address information but it never arrived. So I called them to let them know that I never received the rebate so they issued another they said to the same address which was my mother's address. We waited another 30, 35 days but that one never arrived either. So I called them again to let them know that once again the rebate didn't arrive so they suggested we use another address so I did, I used my address.
I still didn't receive the rebate and the reason I used my address is because my mail comes inside my house so just in case someone was taking it out of my moms box I figured my would be safer. So I called them today and they tell me that they can not issue me out another one because they issued out three rebates and they didn't arrive at either address they can't issue out any more.
They also said because they are getting lost in the mail it not there responsibility and thats why they can't issue any more.Thats not fair to me because when my mom purchased the monitor they said I would get a 50.00 rebate and thats what I expected. And like I told them the rebates is the only thing that get lost strangely because all other mail have no problem getting to our mailboxes at either address. What I think is they have never issued the rebate.
Joel of Neosho MO (04/29/05) Rebate was sent complete to emachines. All contents of letters were collected by me, rechecked by my wife and rechecked again by me before sending. (I made sure that they were given no oportunity to decline my request) On April 28, 2005 I received their letter declining my rebate due to lack of store receipt in package. The letter gives me 7 days from receipt to dispute and is dated April 20, 2005. I thought that was so cute...maybe this is another way of getting out of their obligations.
Sonia of Lancaster CA (04/25/05) I have waited 2 and a half months for my mail-in rebate.
Timothy of Worcester MA (04/12/05) I bought an eMachine computer with numerous rebates at Best Buy. It took me a while to send in all the stuff. I got all the rebates except the ones from eMachines. They are refusing to issue the rebate because in the fine print there was a requirement to have the paperwork to them in 30 days. I think this is unfair to the customer. How is eMachines harmed by not getting the paperwork in 30 days, they just get to keep the money longer. It is OK for them to take weeks or months to send you the rebate. This is just one of the ways they are trying to save money by denying rebates for any reason they can come up with. To them, customer service is an oxymoron.
Karen of Niagara Falls NY (04/05/05) I'm waiting for my $50 rebate. sent it to the place listed on the rebate form, I received word to send it to another place, did it and still haven't heard from them. I really would like my rebate since compusa said I could get one from emachines. I hate dealing with companies who can't stand by their rebates. I won't buy from them again if they are playing these games.
Jhenny of Hallandale FL (03/28/05) In date 2/26/05 I bought an eMachines in Best Buy store located at 21035 Biscayne Boulevard, Aventura Fl 33180.When I bought this computer the store offered me five rebates, so I sent originals and copies to eMachines and Best Buy. Today I received a letter from eMachines in which they asked me for the originals of serial number barcode and UPC (Universal pricing code) but ,how I can get the originals if I sent them to Best Buy because they ask for the originals too?
I went to best buy and talk to manager (Brian) , he called eMachines and he said to me that they wanted the serial number back of my monitor. When I got home I called eMachines to make sure about their requirement, and they said they only receive and accept original barcodes and they never received any call from any manager from Best Buy, and I sent the originals to Best Buy as instructed by sales representative and instructions on the receipt.
Catherine of Westland MI (03/28/05) I called to inquire about two $50.00 rebate checks due to me. I received the checks after I had called the company earlier and told them I didn't know if I had lost them or what. The woman I spoke to the first time said they were good for 90 days from issue date. She also told me they were mailed January 3, leaving me to believe they were good until April 3. However when I finally did receive them they were dated 3/13 & 3/17 making them null & void. The company says it is too bad because I reported them lost and they can't do anything about them. She also told me they were mailed January 4th but issued on the 17th of December.
John of Evansville IN (03/11/05) My wife and i purchased an emachine computer at best buy. they offered multiple rebates which we took advantage of. we recieved the rebates from best buy but got a letter from emachines informing us that we had submitted our request after their 30 day limit. i do not doubt that we did not comply with their time restraints but i think that it is an unreasonable policy especially when we received our other rebates that were mailed at the same time.
When i contacted emachine and talked to their representative named Joy she told me that this was their policy and they would not reconsider. when i asked to speak to a supervisor she told me that her supervisor used the same guidelines and ther was no need to talk to him. after this i contacted best buy to try to get some satisfaction. they said they had no control over emachines, so i am stuck without a rebate because we let emachines use our money a couple extra days.
Andrew of Cincinnati OH (03/02/05) Best Buy was advertising an Emachines laptop which with rebates made it cheaper than the comparable Dell I was going to buy. One of those rebates was a BestBuy rebate ($150) the other was a Emachines rebate ($100). The BestBuy rebate form was provided at the store the Emachines rebate was downloaded from their website on the day I made the purchase. The promotion was quite heavily advertised on the web and the sales clerk in the store was aware of it. I did all the necessary stuff, fill in forms, attach UPCs etc and mailed off both rebates.
The BestBuy rebate came back without any problems. However when I chased the Emachines rebate the rebate people told me that although my application was perfectly in order Emachines had told them the offer "had been withdrawn". So contacted Emachines customer services and was given the runaround, the only comment being "read the small print - we can do this" - now unless in CA it is legal to bait and switch I don't think that they can.
Andrew of Wilkesboro NC (02/23/05) emachines rebates must be post marked within 30 days of purchase -- this is typical practice for them but not clearly stated in advertising campaigns by retailers nor do retailers inform you of this on purchase. Let the buyer beware!
Lisa of Wood Ridge NH (11/27/05):
I purchased an e-Machines computer on 10/4/05 from Office Depot in Paramus, NJ specifically because it came with a $300.00 rebate. It was for my daughter because she had entered high school and needed a computer. I filled out the all 4 rebate slips, put all the information on them, took the upc codes off every box and made copies and sent them to the correct addresses (there is more than one).
I never heard anything more till I went online and sent them a letter (www.officedepot.com/rebatecenter. I got an e-mail back from them stating that I did not have 1 upc copy of a upc code that they claim I didn't send with the other paperwork. I then took the upc code from my paper and e-mailed it to them, they cannot accept it it has to be mailed. I have not mailed it because I feel like I am getting the run around, I do not have time for all this nonsense, I bought the product I filled out all the information they wanted (which alone was a task) I feel like they should just sent me my rebate as they promised.
I just saw a television show on rebates and how extremely difficult these companies make it for the consumer and I am fed up. I want my $300.00 rebate that was promised!
I was expecting that money for Christmas gifts for my family and trust me, if I don't get it, I will not give up.
Gregory of Coram, NY (11/5/05)
I bought my eMachine because of the $150 rebates that were offered, and considered it to be a good deal. I filled out all the information as required, made sure everything was correct to avoid any rejection, and then had my wife double check the information. I received an email stating that the rebate information I sent had "Incorrect product or insufficient product purchased for this rebate."
I am very disturbed by this, and am wondering if the rebate offers were merely a ploy to get me buy the products.
Damages: I am due the $150 for my rebate.
Waltherine of Las Vegas, NV (11/5/05)
I bought an eMachine with a $50 rebate. I have requested my refund two times with no response.
Gloria of Fort Wayne IN (10-29-04):
I purchased an eMachine on 4/14/04 and like many other complainants, I still have not received my rebates. I resubmitted my request three times to eMachines, and now they tell me my receipts and info were thrown away because I sent them to the wrong address, even though they replied 3 times. I am at my wit's end.
I am a 64 yr old retiree on a limited income and need the rebate dollars desperately to repay borrowed dollars.
Vickie of Hiddenite NC (10-16-04):
Having trouble getting my $100 rebate from eMachines. I sent proper UPC papers in June, called and resent copies, and called again. I have seen where many others are having this problem also.
Greg of Laguna Hills CA (09-04-04):
Please post my SUCCESS at getting my $100 rebate out of eMachines' rebate organization. After months of denial of receiving my materials, I contacted eMachines directly at (801) 401-1199. An employee named Lori fixed the situation and I got my money after an additional 30 days. No more eMachines rebates for me, though it's a great monitor! eMachines is making no friends using this rebate scam.
William of Greenbush ME (08-07-04):
I purchased an eMachine, monitor and printer on 4/24/04 from Circuit City in Bangor ME. This machine was purchased for the price of $1,007.97 with rebates of $350. The store printed out the receipts that we had to mail in, and we mailed them along with the bar codes and various additional info that was required.
We waited for about 4-5 weeks, and we received $150 in rebates. We then received a letter from the company stating that we were not eligible to receive the remaining $200 as we had not sent in the serial number from the machine. We did so, and sent it along with all other info back to the company. About 2 weeks ago, we received another letter saying that we would not be receiving the rebate.
Well, about this time I was getting a little upset, so I phoned a number that was on their letter and talked with a customer service rep named Tina. She looked all of my info up and said that she could see no reason why the rebate had been denied. She then told me to put the letter back in the mail, telling them to send the rebate as all requirements had been fulfilled. I did so, stating that it was per request of customer service rep Tina. As of this date, 8/7/04, I have still not received anymore info from them, nor my rebate.
Needless to say I am getting disgusted. When I purchased the machine, it was with the understanding that we would receive $350 back from eMachines. I would never have purchased their machine if I had known the way that they treat their customers.
Herbert of Etters PA (05-28-04):
I bought an eMachine tower on 12/18/03 (model T2682). I was to receive a total of seven rebates for the tower, monitor and system upgrades I purchased.
I have received all of the rebates except for the monitor. They lost the original rebate documentation that I sent. And though I followed their instructions and sent the copies to another address, they still haven't processed any paperwork.
It has been six months since I submitted the original documentation and have received no answers to my letters. In telephone conversations the answer always is it takes eight weeks. So far my rebate of $100 has taken 24 weeks.
Carmen of El Cajon CA (5/31/04):
I purchased a computer I saw advertise with a $250 rebate. I received a form which I filled out returned. They told me that I would receive my rebate within 10 weeks. I made the purchase January 13, 2004, and I still have not receive the rebate. I have called the company and each time they tell me to mail in the rebate form, but I have already sent it to them.

I purchased an eMachine tower with a $50 rebate. I sent in my receipt with the price circled and the bar code numbers that were on the box. I had written them down because I was afraid the box was going to be thrown out and it was, so I sent in the written numbers and not the bar codes because the box was gone. I got a letter saying they wouldn't honor the rebate because of this. I sent in my receipt and I certainly didn't make the numbers up. Can this be fair?
I feel I have been cheated out of something that I proved I bought.
Kevin of W. Springfield VT (5/22/04):
We bought our eMachine pc on Jan. 30, 2004. There were 2 rebates that came with purchase which were to be mailed in w/info. Best Buy gave us the 2 extra cash register receipts. I mailed them in about 4 weeks later. After at least 6 weeks, one came back. This week I called on where the other rebate is, and they told me they never received it. I was told to re-send it in again by copying Winter Rebate form off web site.
I could not find the correct pc rebate & came across this site. When I read what the first gentleman wrote about his experience w/eMachines, it was exactly like mine! So I chose to get in touch w/you first before putting myself to all the frustration I know I will go through after reading that the same thing has happened to others.
DC of Wichita Falls TX (5/15/04):
Purchased eMachine system 2-27-04 with a package of rebates totaling $350. It was advertised for $539 followed in small print after rebates. It cost me $1011.26 then had to wait for my rebate returns. $50 Lexmark printer rebate, $150 from Best Buy ... eMachines said it did not qualify for $150.00 rebate. As many of you before me, I tossed the boxes before gaining the necessary documentation for the rebate requirements. After regaining my composure, I made my calls to each of the companies offering the rebate explaining everything. Lexmark and Best Buy honored the rebate offer. Emachines has been a different story.
The initial call I was informed under no uncertain terms the offer would be rejected without the original paperwork and UPC codes, no exceptions. I found this unreasonable. When I hooked up my machine, I registered with emachines online that night. They had all the necessary information needed to confirm I was the new owner of one of their products. They had all the information concerning the machine, where it was purchased, and even me. They pulled it up on their machine as I sent out my call of distress.
In the meantime, the 1st monitor failed within the first 14 days of ownership. I returned it to Best Buy for a new one with no problem. I was able to obtain the necessary UPC codes from the second monitor which I sent to emachines within the limited time frame. I checked online several times for my rebate status, and was informed they had no record. I sent in the information certified mail. Finally I received a letter informing me I did not qualify, failure to meet the requirements as stated for the rebate. Plus they were sending back all the paperwork I had sent them!
Yet they failed to return the UPC codes I included in the original send. With my hand on my hip, I made my call to the rebate number. I wanted to know what they claimed I failed to provide to disqualify my rebate. I also had the pleasure to inform them they had failed to return all my stuff. The reason for rejection was never stated. Instead, I was informed to resubmit, within 7 days, copies of the UPC codes along with the other papers. I explained that was a catch22, copies do not qualify for rebates. I was reassured in this case there would not be a problem as long as I sent it with the rejection letter, a written explanation for the copies. I have jumped through all the hoops and yet to be honored with a rebate.
In checking status, last entry was disqualified 4-01-04. There is a time limit for rebate payouts. Emachine drags out the rebates challenges to the limit, exceeding the time frame to receive a hopeful rebate. Thus disqualifying the rebate offer from another direction.
Sandra of Monroe GA (4/25/04):
I bought a computer from Circuit City for $1000 with promised rebates of $350. The $50 rebate was returned saying that I had not included the serial number. I resubmitted with serial number and it was returned again. I called and was told to resubmit the exact same thing they ahd returned to me by mail. This would continue to extend the time I received the rebate IF EVER. They refused to allow me to submit the information over the phone or email it to them. Funny they don't receive emails but they sell the machines.
I'm highly upset and willing to allow my (attorney) son to sue and return the computer to the store for a full refund along with cancelling the extended warranty. Four months is way too long to wait for their piddling little $50 and I refuse to wait another two months and then have it returned again.
I'm sure they'd like for me to give up and let them keep the money and extend the 12 months of payments to they will receive interest also. Mostly I'm just highly ticked off.
Robert of Sewickley PA (4/6/04):
I purchased an eMachine locally (Pittsburgh) to be shipped to another address (Philly area). When I was unable to get the UPC codes for my $200 in advertised eMachine rebates within 30 days of the purchase (2 weeks before Christmas), I contacted their rebate center to ask what provisions they make for such situations and was told by the operator that no exceptions could be made if the 30 day period expired. (This is in contrast to the rebate centers for Lexmark, Best Buy, and Motorola, all of whom sent me rebate checks within 2 weeks of my phone calls explaining my circumstance to them.)
Not willing to take the rabate center operator's word as final, I asked to speak with a supervisor and after some back-and-forth was given the number (NOT an 800 #) of someone called Vaughn H. I came to believe this person exists only as an answer-machine voice because in ONE MONTH of constant attempts I never managed to catch him when he wasn't "out of the office", and in spite of the message asking callers to "leave name and number" was never contacted. Eventually it became clear that eMachines is doing whatever was necessary to avoid paying off on their advertised "deals".
Barb of Woodbury NJ (3/30/04):
We spent $1,400 on the entire computer package at Best Buy in Feb. 2004. All of the rebates came back except for the eMachine one for $50. The UPC is off the box so I know I sent it. Also I did receive the rebate for purchasing the entire package, which only needed copies of the original UPC symbols because, of course, the originals had to go to their respective companies (Lexmark, Linksys, etc.)
Now eMachine mailed be back all that I sent them saying that the UPC was never sent. However, they didn't realize I had stapled it for a reason. You can see where my staple was that held the UPC. After speaking with them on the phone, they said to go ahead and mail it back and they will "take care of it." Now, according to their Web site I am not to receive the rebate due to "insufficient" proof of purchase.
I know it's only $50 but it was what made the difference in which one we purchased. I am tired of getting screwed.
Hnryk of Parsippany NJ (3/16/04):
I bought a monitor from eMachines at Best Buy in 9/03 for $200 and there was a $100 rebate. I sent the rebate in with upc code and a copy of my receipt. I waited and waited. December 12 2003 I called eMachines to find out about my rebate since I wasn't able to find it on their website. The customer rep told me that they did not get anything from me. He asked me to give him the upc code and serial # with model #. Then told me to resend everything including a letter explaining why I couldn't send the original upc sticker that was on the box. So I did.
On January 17th 2004 I received a letter that stated that I couldn’t qualify for the rebate. The same day I called them and a rep told me that there’s been a mistake in processing my rebate and to send back the letter with a new explanation why am I sending it back and I did. A month later 2-14-2004 I called eMachines to check my rebate progress. No luck, I was told that they "eMachines" didn't receive a thing from me about a rebate and that I need to make new copies with a new letter and send it in. At that point I said to my self I need more help, so I went online and found ConsumerAffairs.com Inc. :)
I've read couple complaints about eMachines and their promises with the rebates that never come so I wrote a letter to the Council of Better Business Bureaus, Inc. Within five days I got a response from BBB that they will take care of my rebate issue and they did. :) It’s March 16, 2004 and my rebate is shown on eMachines website that it should arrive around 4-4-04. For all of you out there who have rebate issues, write to Better Business Bureaus. IT’S YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY. If I did so can you. Special Thanx to ConsumerAffairs.com Inc. and Better Business Bureaus, Inc.
Larry of Sutton MA (3/13/04):
I bought an eMachine laptop from Best Buy. The purchase included a $150 rebate from Best Buy and a $100 rebate from eMachines. I disposed of the box before processing the rebates, so I didn't have the upc codes required of both rebates. I called Best Buy rebate center, and they had a process in place that allowed me to process my rightfully-deserved rebate. However, when I called eMachines rebate center, eMachines flatly refused to honor the rebate, even though I and eMachines have ample documentation to show that I did indeed purchase the laptop and had not processed an earlier rebate claim for the laptop.
Les of Indianapolis (3/7/04):
In Jan 2004, I bought an eMachine, model T2542/T2682/T2751, from Office Depot. There was a $50 rebate offered. I filled out the form and mailed it in to address given. Late in Feb 2004, I received the paperwork back without rebate saying it was not filled out correctly. I double checked the paperwork and when I determined it was ok, mailed it back. I have not received the rebate. Why and how soon will I get it? This is my second eMachine but will be the last if company can't get a small thing like that corrected.
Sybil of Chattanooga TN (2/21/04):
On Dec. 12, 2003, I purchased a EMachine package, complete with a EMA EVIEW17F2, EMAT2682 and a scanner from Circuit City. The EMA EVIEW 17F2 was advertised at Circuit City with a $100 rebate and the EMA T2682 was advertised with a $50 rebate in addition to the $200 rebate offered by Circuit City. Two weeks later I submitted the forms provided along with a receipt to EMachines and to Circuit City.
On Feb. 5, 2004 I logged onto EMachines website to check on the status of my rebates. I was informed thru their web site that there was no rebate in their system. When I called and spoke with their representative I was informed that they never received a request for rebates. He said that a check had been processed for the $50 rebate. He did not give me any information as to how to resubmit my claim. In fact, he was quite rude and not a bit helpful.
I then called Circuit City and spoke with Rebecca. She informed me that the Circuit City rebate had been processed and their check for $200 has been cut. This rebate was received just a few days later and has no relationship to the rebate offered by EMachines. She suggested that I resubmit my claim for rebates to EMachines and attempted to locate the resubmission address but was unable to locate it.
I then called EMachines back the second time at 1-888-786-0797 and spoke with Justin. He gave me the address. Of course, I did not have the original receipts as they were submitted with my original request for rebates. I informed him that I did not have the originals as they were submitted previously. At which time he told me that a copy of the copies would be sufficient. These I submitted on February 5, 2004 along with a cover letter in explanation.
As of today, Feb. 21, 2004, I have not received the $50 rebate check I was told on Feb. 5 had been processed. Nor have I received any communication from EMachines. Today, Feb. 21, I logged on to EMachines web site. I still get the message that there is no "rebate request in our system at this time."
Randy of Littleton CO (11/25/03):
I have mailed in my rebates for my monitor and tower. I did this back in August and have not received them back.
Pericles of Maynard MA (9/28/03):
Did not receive rebates on emachines computers. Twice I bought an emachines computer and twice I did not get the rebate. Once in 1999 I bought an a tower 466is from Microcenter in Cambridge Ma. I sent in the $75 rebate form and UPC barcodes from original packaging, went through the phone calls checking on rebate status.
First I was told that they did not receive the information and for me to send it again. I resent the info and checked a few weeks later. At this time I was told that "the rebate time had expired and was no longer valid". I chalked it up to bad luck at that time. Next in December 2002 I bought an emachines 5541 system package along with a LexmarkZ25 printer from Best Buy in Watertown, Ma., sent in the $100 emachines rebate and $75 Lexmark rebate forms/UPC's/etc a few days later. I promptly received the $75 Lexmark rebate check (about 3 weeks after mailing form in).
I allowed 6 months for the emachines rebate before checking into it. Apparently this was a mistake on my part because emachines claimed that they sent a check for $100 around two months after they received my rebate form. The woman I spoke with at emachines (Gerald) also stated that emachines had "no records" that the check was deposited/cashed. To me this means that the check was either lost in the mail, lost by me, or never sent. There is a chance that I may have lost the check, but I don't think so since I was waiting for it to show up in the mail.
I asked for another check to be sent to me. Their answer was "we are very sorry, but we cannot send another check". I am not fully aware of my rights in this instance, but they admitted that the check was not paid out since it did not show on their end. In any case, two times is not a mistake as far as I am concerned. I don't have a problem with the computers (you get what you pay for), but I don't think I will buy any more emachines hardware. I would rather pay a little more for stuff from a company that shows good faith.
Priscille of Lubbock TX (6/21/03):
I purchased an Emachines computer package with 4 mail in rebates. Three of them were honored but Emachines is till to send me the $100 rebate that they owe me. I am a single parent and solely supporting my one child. I need the $100 that was promised to me by Emachines.
Wendy of Johnston RI (5/27/03):
I purchased an emachine on Feb. 17th, 2003, and mailed in all the required rebate information on March 12th, 2003. At that time, the expected time frame for rebate check processing was 6-8 weeks. I periodically checked their rebate status site, and discovered that my data hadn't been entered. Upon this discovery, I called emachines customer service on April 28th, 2003. At this time, they told me that they hadn't received my rebate and to wait another week. I called again on May 7th, 2003 and was told to fax all copies to "special handling" and it would be expedited.
Apparently "special handling" should really be named mediocre handling. I called again on May 27th and was now told that rebate processing takes 10 weeks, and that any faxes rebates take 5-6 weeks to be entered into the system..."try back in a week". FIVE WEEKS! Just to receive a fax that took me less than a minute to send? Ridiculous right? So how about that $250 rebate? Maybe they're making the paper to print the check on from scratch.
Henry of Cerritos CA writes (2/24/02):
I purchased an eMachine T1090 computer from Frye's Electronics in Anaheim, CA Dec. 17, 2001 and sent in all the required information and receipts for my $75.00 rebate. Till this day Feb. 24, 2002 I have not received my rebate. I had emailed them once before and I have not heard from them at all.
I am living on very limited income next to the poverty line. I need every dollar I can get. The $75.00 rebate means a lot to me.
Sam of North Highlands CA (11/27/01):
Emachines refuses to issue a $75.00 mail in rebate check. PC was purchased April 6, 2001 and the appropriate paperwork was mailed shortly thereafter. It is now November 27, 2001 and still no check.
Jewel of St. Petersburg FL writes (8/22/01):
I bought the emachine as part of a package sale from Fingerhut. It was advertised to have a $75 rebate. A few days after the machine arrived I mailed all the paperwork that was required to emachine. I waited for 6 months and did not receive my refund so I mailed a copy of the rebate form that I got from Fingerhut explaining that I did not have the paperwork as I had mailed it in October. I did not get a reply.
In July I had a problem with the modem and the man that I talked to at that time told me to fax what I had, which is the statement from fingerhut listing the machine & the mail-in rebate copy form from Fingerhut and it would be taken care of within 48 hours. It is now August 22, well over 48 hours and I still have no reply from emachine. I truly am begining to believe the rebate was never intended to be paid, it was only a sales tactic and the company is defrauding the public to make sales.
Katherine of Riverside CA (2/18/01):
I purchased a computer from Best Buy on 10/01/00 which included a $75.00 rebate from E-Machine/E-Tower which takes 6-8 weeks. I waited the specified time, called and was told it was never received and to re-mail, which I did. I called a few weeks later and was told it was never received. This time I was asked to fax the information, which I did. I called again and was told it was being worked on and should receive a check in 10 working days.
This never happened so I called again and was told they had thousands of people waiting on rebates some as long as two (2) years and I simply had to wait or I could call back in a couple of months. At the time of purchase I was not imformed the rebate promised was a shot in the dark and might not ever get it. I think this is totally misrepresentation.

I sent in for my rebate as prescribed. Waited the amount of time called for, then called and was told they had no record of my claim. Was told to send another copy of it. I did so and was sent a postcard this time saying they would not accept a photocopy of the UPC symbol.
I found the box and luckily there was another UPC label left. This time I sent it certified mail. I waited 7 weeks and called today 1/18/00, they again say they have no record of receiving it. Now they want me to send a copy of the certified mail receipt. I feel they are going to defraud me. I would not have bought the computer had I known how much trouble it would cause me.
Keith of Modesto, CA:
I purchased an Emachines computer from Circuit City in early January of this year and I mailed the rebate form and all the required material within a week. Almost three months passed and then I received a card from Emachines saying that I didn't enclose my receipt and UPC tag. After talking to their customer service department I had to return to Circuit city and obtain a form saying I purchased the computer and had not returned it. I mailed this material over a month ago and have not heard anything yet. Emachines has failed to send my $75 rebate.
Dongmei of Normal, IL:
We brought an open box eTower 466is machine at the Circuit City store in Bloomington, IL, without original box. The reason we brought the machine was because the price plus $75 rebate from manufacturer. But, when I filed rebate request, I noticed the manufacturer request the original UPC barcode. So I called the store, they assured me that the manufacturer will honor the rebate as long as we send in the original receipt.
So, I filed the rebate and 10 weeks later, the rebate was refused because of missing UPC barcode. I went back to the store and told them what happened. The store manager told us if we write eMachine a letter, we are going to receive the rebate which is totally different from what I was told from eMachine.
The representative from eMachine told me they have strict policy about not giving rebate for open box machine. But the store manager refuses to call eMachine. He also specifically told me that he didn't have time to deal with my case. I am very surprised by his rudeness and arrogance. The Circuit City not only did unethical thing by telling me the wrong information when trying to sell their product, and also acted in bad faith in this case by refusing to correct their mistake.
Tami of Clendenin, WV:
Like many others, I purchased an eMachine computer from Staples on July 12, 1999, mailing in the rebate info 3 days later. After many letters, phone calls and faxes I still haven't received my $400. Every one I talked to says that it's CompuServes fault and that they will fix the error and mail me my rebate. It's now January, 2000, and still no $400.
What's more frustrating than not receiving the $400 is the incompetence of the rebate centers. Everyone acts like they know what's going on and that the last person I talked to was wrong and they will see to it that it gets fixed, but I never does.
I continue to pay interest on my credit card for this $400. I stressed to the rebate office on numerous occasions how important it was that I receive this money for Christmas. I started Oct. 4th contacting them so get the money by Christmas. I was very upset that I didn't get it for Christmas - I had planned to buy my son a bike but couldn't because I didn't receive my money. The only reason I purchased the e-machine was due to the rebate and this computer has been nothing but junk. I want my $400 and I want to cancel my Compuserve account without penalty.
Jeffrey of Muncy, PA:
I bought an eMachine computer 5 months ago at Circuit City. At that time there was a special, if you bought an eMachine there would be a $50.00 rebate. I bought it, sent the rebate in and never got my money or heard anything from them.
Then a couple weeks ago the eMachine breaks down. It was still under warranty and they told me to ship it back and they would replace it. The bad news is I had all my records from my business stored on it. I asked them if they would just replace the power unit and they said no they could not do that. That information on the hard dive is very important to me. On the other hand to I have to pay about $50.00 in shipping at my own expense to ship it back to them. I'm out my important files, a $50.00 rebate and $50.00 in shipping. Do you call that FAIR!
Mick of Fremont, CA:
I purchased an eMachine from Best Buy in Milipitas Ca. I sent in my $50.00 rebate as described and received a card in the mail saying I didn't send all the correct info. I sent it all again and still have not received the $50. This process has been going on for 4 months now.

I purchased an e-Machine computer. It came with a $50.00 rebate. I mailed
the sales receipt, the serial number and the ucp code to them. I received a card from them stating they will not send me the rebate because they did not receive the information listed above. I wrote to them and told them that I already sent the information they
requested and would like my $50.00 refund.
