I bought an E Machine 11-30-07 from Best Buy in NM. After 3 months, it was failing to boot. I contacted Best Buy about it, took it in, and had it shipped out to have the power source replaced. Two months later, it started making a clicking sound so I took it back again. After I was supposed to get it back, I find out that the manufacturer didn't fix it because of them claiming that it was infested with roaches and that most of the screws were missing from the MB. Now, I don't know much about computers much less about going inside the unit to fix a problem. Furious, I go to Best Buy about the problems claimed and after being persistent, I convince a store employee to take the unit outside and open up the unit. There are no signs of a roach infestation or screws in the MB missing so they send it back to the manufacturer again. Because of all the hassle/time spent traveling by city bus, I get a new unit after it is fixed 3 times.

Because I do not have a vehicle, I had to take this unit to Best Buy (where I bought it) 4-5 times. I did pay for some extended coverage beyond the warranty so I didn't have to pay anything. I am worried though about what is going to happen when the warranty runs out in Nov. 2008. When the time comes to buy a new computer, I am not going to buy an E Machine ever again nor will I recommend that anyone else buy one. Every time I turn the unit on, I am afraid of something going wrong again. This experience has left me 'gun shy'. If this needs repair after the warranty expires, I may not spend the money to have it fixed because I am wary about throwing good money after bad and because I am on SSI.

I bought an emachine T6520 2 years ago, it is now a paper weight. It just quit working. I did regular maintanence, ie..using canned air to clean it out, extra fans to keep it cool and it still fried the processor. It just quit working, I replaced the power supply, the hard drive and the memory, to no avail. The processor is fried and the motherboad along with it. Computers should last longer than 2 years.

I spent a minimum of 200 to try to fix it. I do bird watching and all of my bird fact sheets were on the hard drive and all of my pictures. I take a lot of pictures of my birds and nature. I also have all of my holiday pictures from the past year on the hard drive. I can probably get the hard drive cleaned off, but why should I have to go through the expense and time if the emachines were made to last. I have an original home computer(the flat desk model)from 10 years ago and it still works. I have a friend that had the same problem with her emachine and I also have my sons emachine that just quit on him too.

I have purchased (2) different eMachine computers. On both computers, the motherboard quit working. One just over one year the second lasted two years.

The repair shop told me they could not get parts for this machine. Cost me 40. 00 to check out and another 35.00 to back up my files. You can find motherboards on the internet but they cost more than the machine is worth. Did not bother having the second machine checked out.

My restore CD for my emachine will not work, I went to the store that I purchased it from (Tiger Direct) and they informed me that to contact emachinge directly. After three days, and 3 hours of being on hold, I have been unable to order/buy a new restore CD for my computer.

I have traveled to the store and spent several hours of my work time trying to resolve this issue as my computer is needed for my job. I had to purchase a laptop until I can resolve this matter.
