Gamers Irate Over NFL Madden 2008 Glitches
Consumer complaints

I've purchased three copies of EA Sports Madden 2008 video game for X-Box 360, and none of them work. In fact, I bought the 400 X-Box specifically for this game. The game always freezes either at halftime or at the end, and you end up having to turn it off and you lose the game. I'm disgusted with this thing. And the company is supremely unhelpful in troubleshooting. I cannot get them to respond. They just say look at our message boards. Judging from the complaints on their message boards, I'm hardly the only one having this experience.

Many glitch problems with their popular game, Madden 08 for ps3. One major glitch happens during online play. Your opponent is somehow able to disconnect from the game and no matter how bad you are beating this person, you get the disconnect and the loss. Many people know how to do this and use this to their benefit. It is very poor and greatly takes away from the fun of playing the game. Problems like this should not be missed prior to releasing the game. 60 is a lot to pay for a video game, the least the maker can do is attempt to release a problem free product or attempt to correct the problems once they surface.

EA Sports is a monopoly when it comes to their Madden NFL product. They have the exclusive license for the NFL and provide (in my opinion) a completely sub-par product. Starting with Madden 09, they are taking away the ability to play a new NFL game from PC users by cancelling their PC version of Madden. Unfortunately this version was smooth and easy to play with customizable features such as the View of the gameplay. I purchased the Xbox360 version of Madden08 to get used to the idea of playing Xbox360 and was greatly disappointed in this product.

The fact that EA Sports has the exclusive NFL license makes it impossible for the competition to put out a better product. The play on the Xbox 360 is slow and choppy with many glitches. With their exclusive license, EA now has the ability to take away the possibility of playing a new NFL game on your PC. Just like any other monopoly, EA makes ruthless decisions to accomodate their bottom line without considering the needs of the consumer. I personally know hundreds of people who will lose the ability to play Madden 09 when it comes out because they do not have the money to play hundreds of dollars to buy an next generation platform when they already have a perfectly good computer.

This is a monopoly because they are forcing the consumer to spend even more money on a video game machine if they want to use the Madden product. Each year, the Madden team does not put the best quality possible into this videogame. When they had competition, they made leaps and bounds in quality. Now with no pressure from losing money to other NFL videogame manufacturers, they provide almost the same game every year. I wasted 50 in buying the Xbox 360 version of Madden. It is a disgrace to advancements in technology with a large pricetag.

Even though this is just a video game, this situation shows the ability for two large corporations such as Electronic Arts and the National Football League to tie the hands of the consumer by providing a product without the opportunity to allow for the consumer to be able to make a choice in the price or quality of the product. By this agreement, they have the ability to raise prices and reduce advancements in technology without fear of competition getting in the way.

By the increase in price and only small changes in graphics and gameplay in recent years it shows that EA Sports is trying to minimize costs and maximize profit. Also taking away the ability to play the game on a personal computer forces millions of customers to have to buy a next generation videogame platform to play an up to date NFL football game.

Madden 08 Freezes trying to play Franchise Mode. Deleted cache, Profile and all Madden data (Games Profile etc.) Reviewed many posts applied all solutions no cure. EA Sports deleted from their forum all posts referring to game locking up or freezing. Class Action Lawsuit Pending

It seems I am running into the same problem as everyone else, my franchise froze after 4 short season. Now, I updated my rosters when I had my free trial of LIVE, cause Vick is gone. However, now I dont have LIVE anymore and am not paying to fix a game I paid 60 on that should work properly from the start.

I have bought every madden football game since 96, dating back to my playstation days, and it has been the best game ever. This year however, is a pathetic product. I hope John is aware that a product he endorses and plasters his name on is something of little or no value. It is more arcade style than it is realistic. 06 for X-box was a far superior game, NEVER froze once in 19 seasons!! Now this game wont let me past year 4, inverts sacks and interceptions in team stats, and does not even correctly add turnovers in team stats (only in madden 08 can a team have -11 turnovers with 17 int and 12 fumbles) Your coach doesnt retire anymore, he simply disappears. I can also throw the ball through my lineman, juke through a defensive player, get intercepted 14 times in one game (4 by a defensive tackle!!), sacked 23 times in one game, and watch line backers and other defenders jump 5-6 yards to intercept every pass.

This game seemed like it was aimed at nothing but profits and forgot COMPLETELY about quality. It has made my decision about selling my X-Box very simple. After 12 wonderful madden seasons, lucky 13 has seen its time run out.

60 dollars wasted, simply put, HUGE disappointment. I hope you have something to say EA Sports. John Madden, please reconsider your endorsement next year.
