Dell Talks Back

We are awash in complaints about unpaid Dell rebates. The complaints below represent just a tiny fraction of the megabytes of complaints we've received over the last few years. There is no sign the situation is improving, so buyer beware!

Anyone with a similar complaint should do the following:

  • File a complaint with us; complaints to our site often lead to class action lawsuits which penalize offenders and get at least some recompense for consumers.
  • File a copy of the complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, which prosecutes violators;
  • File a copy of the complaint with your state's attorney general. You can find the address in our Resource Directory.

Ordered two extended service plans with 40 mail in rebate on each. Had to download rebate form from website. However, form will not download. Made numerous phone calls, received numerous answers as to how because they acknowledge problem. Received numerous promises to mail the form directly to us, never received any form. Rebates expired due to this problem. No resolution from Dell, made phone calls to Dell and was transferred to numerous departments.

Mail in Rebate for an extended warranty was held up because they did not receeve a packing slip or invoice. I provided Dell with what was provided to me.

I purchased the extended warranties for my two Dell computers and supposed to receive 75 rebate for each warrranty purchased. I sent the rebate form and packing slip for each computer. Each warranty rebate was sent in separate envelopes. After 10 weeks I called to see why I did not receive my rebates and they said the envelopes must have gotten lost in the mail. So, what are the chances that both envelopes would have been lost and since I had the return address on them, they should have some back to me. Also, they said that I should go back to the email concerning the rebate and reprint the forms and then fax them to them. But guess what, when I go to the email and click the link, it no longer works, so it is impossible to get the rebates forms. When I call back they say that they have changed the site and have no idea, guess I'm just out of luck.
