Compaq - Printers

William of Azle, TX, writes (3/29/01):
I bought a brand new Compaq IJ 600 printer at a garage sale. After using it approximately three months the black ink quit working. I went on line to the Compaq support forum, explained the problem and was told what to do to rectify this situation. It did no good, I then went to their discussion group and posted my problem. In reading through the message board I find that a lot of people have this problem.

The bottom line is, if all the things they tell you to do does not work they tell you to take it to Radio Shack (that's another story in itself). In checking with Radio Shack they inform me that it will be approximately $70.00 to repair, and they could not give me an estimate of how long it would take. The irony is you can go on line and buy a brand new identical printer for $50.00, but who would want one that only lasts a short time?

There was just a lot of wasted time and effort, and eventually I had to go buy a new printer anyway.
