My C Drive without warning became full. And the computer took it upon itself to create something called a D Drive and dumped everything there. But I could not access it in any way. Now a message keeps coming up that the D drive is full.
Consumer Complaints & Reviews

First, my wireless card died shortly followed by my motherboard. Now, my Compaq F700 laptop will not turn on at all.

I restarted my computer because it was going way too slow. So when I restarted it, I noticed that my internal camera was "not found". I don't know how to solve this problem and I'm finding it very annoying.

I bought a $300.00 laptop for my son. Within two days he was complaining that the touchpad did not work correctly. I gave it a few days to see if he just was not used to a touchpad. Once I checked on the problem a week had gone by. I called Compaq. They were polite and walked me thru a few steps to attempt to correct. It was determined the computer had a hardware fault with the touchpad. I was then instructed that I would have to pay $35.00 to send the unit in for repair. I can buy a regular mouse for less than that. I informed the tech that I would that the computer back to wal-mart. I did just that and got a Toshiba instead. I have always been pro Compaq, but it appears they are having real greed problems. It also appears I was fortunate after reading other people story. I will not buy another Compaq without a detailed warranty that includes shipping the unit to them for manufacture defects.

I have a Compaq Presario CQ 50-139WM. When I received the class action notice (NVIDIA GPU), I was surprised that my model was not on it, since it has all the problems mentioned especially screen going blue with running lines particularly while playing games, sound and game remain, no screen for extended period of time, etc. Why wasn't my model included? It has all the problems and needs to be fixed. It sounds like I am not the only one. Also, you cannot have the laptop on your lap while you are using it or it will burn you.

Bought a computer from Walmart 2 months ago. The computers hinges were so stiff that the screen cracked. Contacted their customer service department, and the rep said that it would be covered under the 1 yea warranty given at the time of purchase. I sent it to the repair site only to be informed that they would only fix it for $500. I only paid $350 for the computer brand new.

My son's laptop is 6 months old. This week, the screen is messed up. I went to Best Buy, where we purchased it, and they were no help at all. They said that it was impact damage and they wouldn't do anything to help. So I called Compaq directly. They were less than helpful telling me that because I hadn't purchased the accidental warranty, they had to charge for the repair. They wanted to charge me $427! My son only paid $423 with shipping and handling! I am so upset! They were rude and blamed my son for misusing his computer. He babies his laptop and takes great care of it!

I purchased a Compaq Presario cq40 133tu from door computer center, Durgapur City Center. Since the first day of purchased, it creates problem at first DVD writer problem, they changed the writer. After some month, arise another problem, display problem. They also changed the display but after one month of warranty period display became damaged. Repair cost is too big for me to spend.

Speakers aren't worth [anything]! Can't hear them!

I bought a Compaq F700 Pasario laptop from Aron's rental. I got it paid off. Just last week, it died. The hard drive went out and it was still new looking. I lost all my info and it will cost me big to fix the hard drive and reload Windows. I wished I knew about these laptops and how a lot of people tell me they had their hard drive go out just over a year old. I had to replace that computer with another. It cost me big! I thought I was going to experience some time without buying a new laptop!

I bought a Compaq laptop in November 2008. 2 months later, it crashed. I phoned HP, and they told me what to do. 2 months later, all I got was a white screen. I phoned HP, and they told me to remove the battery and put it back in. This relieved the problem for a while. Then I had to phone again for the same problem. Acted up all summer and had to wait till I came back to my winter home to take it back.
While it was still under warranty, I took it back, and they had it from November 4 to 20. They finally replaced the LCD. Now 6 weeks later, it's not under warranty, and they won't look at it until I pay $18 per hour. I don't have that kind of money. I have had nothing but trouble with it, and I always heard HP was a good product. I can't hardly get on my computer anymore, because it jumps all over the place and I can't read it. Please help me.

2. both the laptops come with same configuration and have amd processor.
3. within 3 yrs of purchase motherboard of both the laptops has gone bad and the laptop is not swiching on. moreover, when shown to authorised compaq service station they are asking for Rs 12000 to change the mother board with only one month wty.
4. i seek company's help in either resolving the problem of the laptops, else i have decided to go to consumer court.

I bought a Compaq Presario desktop computer (Vista) in 2007. The recovery disc creation as explained in the user manual does not work. Compaq no longer give the recovery cd at the time of purchase. The consumer has to download the driver and copy it on a cd. Compaq wants to charge me a fee of $200.00 for sending me a component (The recovery disc drivers) that is part of the computer at the time of purchase.
The Compaq Presario (Vista) that cost me around $700.00 cannot be used because I get an error message suggesting a recovery disc needs to be created in order to save the computer. I lost $700.00

I bought a compaq presario V5201US about 2 years ago in the US at Staples it has been working properly for less than a month. then all of a sudden it became slow (by that time I left the US and couldn't return it or have a warranty repair) it takes about 5 to 7 minutes for the windows to start. it can't do anything the media players (even new ones thta I had installed) can't play media///well they can but so slow that it's impossible to watch, it takes 2 minutes to open an internet broser and when it stats glitching it sounds more like washing machine than a computer.
I tried to fix it and( reinstalling windows and now its gone) It was the most useless 700 bucks I had ever spent. compaq is to be voted the worst laptop ever

I have had my Compaq Presario for about 2 years. Although I use it daily, I am the only user. About 2 weeks ago the hinge on the right-hand side snapped out. Today the hinge on the left broke. I think there will be a time soon when the screen will not remain upright. I wonder if this problem can be fixed.

In early March 2008 I order a Compaq Presario desktop computer from Walmart.com for my mother. The order went fine and the computer was received fully intact. After setting up the computer and installing all the software updates, the computer began experiencing problems. When it would go into standby mode it would crash. The only way to turn it off was to do a hard shutdown, which caused the computer to crash again.
I called Compaq and spent several hours on the phone with them trying to correct the error. My main complaint lies in what the Compaq technical assistance told me about my computer. I had given them the serial and part numbers and they told me that this computer had experienced similar problems in December 2007 and asked if this was the second time I was calling. I told him that I had just purchased this item, which was listed as new. He told me that someone else had called complaining about the same problem with this computer. He could not give me any further details, but this lead me to believe that my computer, which was listed as BRAND NEW and not REFURBISHED, was bought and returned by a previous consumer and then sold to me under false pretenses.
This was unacceptable, so I called Walmart and told them what had happened. They paid to have the computer picked up and refunded my money. I am filing this complaint because I fear that the computer that I returned will just be re-fabricated, boxed and sold to another consumer as new. Items that have been returned after being opened are supposed to be listed as open box or refurbished or used. Walmart is targeting their unaware customers and it is unacceptable. I do not intend to purchase any electronic goods from Walmart in the future but wish to warn future customers of my experience with this company.
My mother had to go over a month without a computer because of this experience. After removing her old computer and setting up this new one, I had to spend hours on the phone with technical support trying to correct the error. After that, I had to re-box and return the computer, only to leave her with no computer at all. It took me weeks to find another computer and to have it delivered and set up. While Walmart did refund my money very quickly, it still cost me a lot of time and energy to remedy this situation for my mother.

I had a Compaq laptop. it had insurance and it broke. i caled compaq and they sent me a new laptop BUT with NO serial or MODEL number tag. It looks as though is was intentionally cut off. This is against the law in CA to have something with no serial number. I have called them and they say they cant do anything about it.

I have had my Compa Presario for almost two years despite one major flaw. It gets extremely hot. The box on power cord gets so hot that even brushing it with my hand just briefly is enough to make my arm jump away. It has become even more of a hazard now that I have pets, as I do not want them to get injured. Additionally, the top left corner of the unit gets extremely hot as well, though not to the extent that the box (the adaptor?) does. This overheating problem has also caused the pixels in the lower portion of my screen to die.
I feel that I must state, having dealt with many laptops in the past years, that I am well aware that laptops do get warm and sometimes hot to the touch. However, the amount of heat that is put out through the box on the power cord is unacceptable and poses a serious threat to myself and others around me.

I received a Compaq Evo for Xmas. Worked great. Then, the battery died. This cleared the bios. Could not restart the computer. I took it to Best Buy geek squad. I was told to throw computer away, as there is no way to reload bios if battery fails. A $15 battery supplied with the computer failed, and now I have a fancy bookend. I am a home-ridden disabled senior on a pension. Obviously I cannot buy a new one. This is a product that cannot be fixed. This is a first for me.
I am a home-ridden disabled senior. I sit alone in my room. I cannot get out. Now I have no diversions. Just sit here until I die. I have advanced heart disease. No cure. Diabetes, etc.

For a month now I have been getting pop-ups about renewing the service agreement on this computer. They interfear with theprograms I am running at the time. They appear 10-20 times a day I repeatedly click on not interested or I have purchased one indesperation and they keep comming back. I have never dealt with a company with such poor customer service. your overseas people don't know what they are doing.I am still dealing with with a notice on the computer that I called about months & months ago. I did step by step what you person ( who didn't even have the decency or respect to ask how to spell my name when she didn't know how to. So when my power unit went and they sent a new one for me to put in it came with some god awful mutilation that the postal workers found very funny. (Well, I didn,t I found it insulting and even though an american employee called on that subject and corrected it I still find your overseas employees attitude sickening) insulting)You can't hardly understand them, they sound like they are talking with a mouthful of something discusting and warm.
And when you ask them to "please seak more slowly" or repeat what they said they act like your insulting them. What is wrong with Americans? There are plenty of unemployeed americans you could train to do the job better or at least as well and we could understand them & they would probably have the decentcy to ask how to spell a name they weren't sure of. I have no interest in a maintainence agreement with a company who doesn't think Americans are at least worth the U.S. minimun wage. Please, stop these pop-up ads and don't send any more to this computer.
Thank You P.S. This hotmail email address is Valid!!!!Another example of your arrogance!I' use one I use for less important things join the throngs .

We bought a Compaq SR5152NX from Circuit City in Mobile, AL. on August 12th, 2007. when we got it home there was a problem right off the bat, so we called Compaq and they said it was a internet problem and to contact then. So we did. Three telephones later and a brand new one at $399.99 at Verizon wireless expense and it the problem was still there. So we recontacted compaq and they at that time told us that this new computer we had just purchased was not really new, it was REFURBISHED, but other than that what was the problem. Well, at that point, that was the problem. So after a couple of month's arguing with them, we contacted the BBB and The Attorney General's office. Finally this Ginger Borge called my wife and admitted to my wife that after throughly checking both of their data bases, that yes this computer was indeed refurbished and they had agreed they compaq would give us our money back and that Ginger would send a confirming e-mail so things could start moving.
Well we got the email and Ginger stated in the email that they wanted us to send the defected tower to them and then they would send our money in 4 to 6 weeks, but on the phone they were sending a return label and to send via email or fax a copy of the receipt so they could get us our money and then send the tower back. We have also asked for a little compensation for the hours on the phone and researching into this matter. Ginger then stated we do not compensate and our company policy is you send the tower then we send the money. Now as a consumer, we had been frauduently sold a REFURBISHED as new and then compaq wants us to wait, wait, and wait some more.

I purchased a compaq presario computer from office depot. I had it one week and then it stopped working like it should. HP had me restore it to factory setting, then they reformatted the harddrive and i'm still getting nothing but trouble from the computer. It won't boot up right, it don't download like it should. It keeps saying your computer has a problem and i want a something done about my computer

My power supply was overheating, I called a CSR for compaq and explained what was going on. There is no public recall on these items. The CSR said he would take care of it right away and ordered me a new one to be shipped right away to me. I just want everyone to know if yoy bought a Compaq laptop, mine was a c555nr model. Check how hot your power supply gets while using your pc at the same time you are charging your battery. If it gets extremely hot to the touch, call them and they will send u a new one if it is still under warrranty like mine is. It was worht calling them for this issue. First time Compaq has ever just said, sorry and they would send me something with no charge. It is the lowest end model of laptop that they sell.
