Apple iPod Touch

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I got an iTouch for my birthday in January 2010. I have taken great care of it. I used it on Saturday at the gym and was attempting to go for a run the next day on Sunday, when I noticed it would not turn on. It was requesting a connection to iTunes. On connection, it asked for a restore which I did. Once restored, the screen would not unlock. Several restores later, no change. I called Apple and made an appointment with the "genius". I drove 56 miles after a hard day's work to see the "genius" who couldn't explain himself or why the device suddenly stopped working. He however suggested I pay them $150 to get the same device that he cannot explain why it suddenly stopped working. I refused to part with a dime and I felt cheated. I had a sick feeling that I was being scammed.

If my iPod could not be fixed, why would Apple want it? And why in the world would I pay $150 dollars for a device that would more than likely break down again in a year? I asked for the same offer to get another device like the Classic or a battery for my daughter's MacBook, but he insisted I must get another iTouch to get the 50% deal. When something makes no sense, it's most likely untrue. Apple are making billions, raking it in with gimmicks like this. It's like buying a specific car which suddenly stops working for no apparent reason and choosing to trade the car in for the exact same model! This is the new age scam and many are falling for it. I will never ever buy another Apple product again, ever!

My complaint stems from checking my son's homework. While doing some subtraction, we noticed the iPod Touch refuses to subtract 29 from 58. I since asked all my friends who have an iPod Touch to do the same and it did not work for them either. Default, I will say so! Please follow up and let me know your findings. Thank you.

I purchased an iPod on February 10, 2012. It went totally dead on March 5, 2012 and would not charge or turn on or anything. I called customer service. I sent it to be repaired on the 7th, got it back on the 9th from Virginia to California and back in two days. And oh yeah, the same excuse they give everybody, water damage. I mean are they kidding? I am 51 years old not a child. I know it has not been out of my living room. What can we possibly do besides a class action suit? I feel totally cheated. Three weeks. How is this a multi-billion dollar company? I just don't know what to do.

I had an iPod, and it stopped working, so I went and bought an iPod Touch, 84 GB with a camera, and it didn't work. I brought it back where I got it from, and the people said there is no return. I've been wanting an iPod for a long time, and now I'm really upset, because I don't have the money to buy another one. I'm not a happy customer, and am going to tell everyone not to buy Apple products anymore.

I purchased 2 Apple Ipod Touch last year for my sons on Christmas. These have not been allowed to leave the house and have been well cared for. Exactly a year from purchase, one of the ITouch is showing a white screen. I am so disappointed with this Apple product. I phoned Apple and they want a credit card to give me advice, which may not even be useful.

No one there seemed to care that I was disappointed or that my product was not working. I have looked online for solutions but have had no luck. Since Apple is considered to be the best I did not expect to have any difficulty after just a year, especially as this product was not abused in any way. Apple is no better than any other brand. We had been considering upgrading to iPad, but we will not, after this experience. Is anyone else having the same trouble with a nearly new iTouch?

I am highly upset with Apple and I feel like their products are a waste of my time and I don't understand why I keep buying them. My camera gave way after a year just before my contract was up, so I could not get it fixed for free (how lovely). So in order for them to fix it, I have to pay money, which I don't have. Instead of wasting my time on buying the product, they should've written right on the package that the camera will give way during usages. I will do everything in my power to stop people from buying Apple products and recommend them to not purchase it at all.

I have purchased an iPod touch 4G last week from eBay. It has an authentic bill with warranty and with serial number **. I have registered the same. I feel very sorry that its speaker is not working since day one, although it is giving audio output with earphone/headphone. What to do? Really, it is a shame on Apple. Please do something at the earliest to maintain faith on the Apple brand.

My iPod touch 2nd gen, which I purchased last December 2010 shuts down all of a sudden this June 2011. It came to my knowledge that they offer a 1-year replacement warranty to their product. I went to one of their authorized service centers here in the Philippines. It was located at the 4th floor of SM Megamall. The diagnostic results were devastating. Apple would not replace my broken iPod; and there's nothing that they can do to repair the merchandise. Instead, they offered me an advance replacement, wherein I would pay half the price of the item. I told them that I would not accept their proposal, simply because, it was an insult to my part and unlawful.

My 4 month-old iPod Touch, 4th Gen died on Sunday, 3 Jul 11. I sent it to Apple for repair/replacement. Apple says that accidental damage or misuse caused the iPod to not work, and is not covered by warranty, AppleCare, or repair program. The service advisor says a photo of the docking port showed corrosion, like the iPod was exposed to fluid. I live in the Gulf Coast of Florida. This iPod was given tender-loving care and was used in a DryCASE while running. I'm getting less happy about Apple by the day.

I purchased an iPod Touch 64GB 3rd gen in September 2009. It worked fine until 3/11 when the multi-touch screen just froze. I took it to Apple store and was told that it was out of warranty. It was never dropped, wet in any way, and in fact, was protected with cases and screen shields since day 1 of purchase. i had no physical damage and no water damage as is written on invoice, yes invoice.

I was told that the way the iPod was made, made it impossible to repair and that the best they could offer for an out of warranty (1 year and 1/2 old) was half price on a new one. I paid a little over $400 for the 1st one and because of a glitch in Apples product, now I had to buy a 2nd iPod or else my library of music was held hostage. I asked if the new iPod was going to be new or refurbished and was assured that it would be new (since I was stuck). I paid the $200 (under protest).I was then asked to give them the frozen iPod to be exchanged for the "new" iPod.

I asked what they would need the old "non-repairable" iPod for if it could not be fixed. It's just what they do, that was what I was told. I gave it over (library still hostage) and out came the "new" iPod in a plain white box (nothing says refurbished like plain white box). Again, I asked if this was new or refurbished. I was assured it was new and left the store with the "new" iPod. Feeling ripped off, I arrived home and examined the invoice and the letters at end of serial numbers lead me to believe that I was sold a refurbished iPod. Believe me, I would have complained anyway since this was their glitch that caused my iPod to malfunction, but to lie and say that replacement was new is unacceptable.

I recently purchased my iPod touch. It's an 8gb. I haven't had it for more than two months and it's done nothing but freeze up and the batteries die very quickly. When I am on the internet, it will pause and kick me out of what ever I'm doing. I have never had this much trouble with an apple product before.

I have the LCD light turned almost all the way down to save power. I don't have any worthless apps. And I get my music straight from the iTunes store.

Great idea but honestly, it seems like they tried to make a pile of garbage seem nice.

I bought an iPod touch for my son in March. While he was using it, it got really hot and burned his hand a little. The screen went blank and no longer works. It's still covered under the warranty but I cannot get a hold of anyone to help me without a credit card. Why should I have to pay extra for something that's still covered under the warranty? This should be illegal.

I purchased a iPod touch in March 2010. Less than three months later, it quit working. It would freeze up and would not take a charge. Upon calling Apple, I was advised to take it to the UPS store they would know what to do with it. It was shipped back to them on June 7th. I was told if it could not be fixed, they would send a new one. After contacting them on June 21st, the first time I called, they cut the call off. I called back ask for a supervisor, explained everything. He checked the original person had put my address email and serial number in wrong. Then I was told he was not even a supervisor then I was placed on hold about 45 minutes waiting again.

Then the supervisor Paul explained it was my problem. They overnighted it to me on the 11th and it is now in transit back to them. They should have it back on the 24th. At that point, they can re-ship it. Also, I was informed it could not be fixed so they were sending me a refurbished one. Less than three months ago, I purchased a new one. By the time I get it, it will have taken a month and I get one made of who knows what kind of parts. I have always purchased Apple products but this will be my last. Their products and service have gone way down. I have been an Apple fan since the 1980's back when they took pride in their product and cared about their customers. I am still waiting, no ipod yet. I purchased a new one and waiting for one made up of used parts.

I purchased an iPod Touch (32G) at X-mas time 2009. A month ago it started to freeze! I contacted Apple about the issue and I sent it to them. They sent it back to me saying they couldn't help us as the iPod had come in contact with liquid. I explained it had never come in contact with liquid or fallen. The product specialist told me not just once they couldn't help us as it's not covered under warranty. I would like to further investigate this problem. I have heard numerous people complain about this problem. I am 110% sure this iPod Touch did not come in contact with water. I asked to speak with a manager of the product specialist and he explained he was the highest in his department. He would not give me any other managers' names to talk with.

I'm very upset over this. These electronic devices are not cheap! We did not damage this product. It froze on its own! It was not near water. I was told by an iPod operator that when it comes back to re-call Apple and have them look at it a second time as sometimes they get them mixed up with other iPods when they come in to the repair center. Something very fishy about this ordeal!

I purchased the Ipod touch for my daughter for Christmas 2009. After two months of use, the earphones supplied with the unit separated at the plug and the end of the plug was stuck in the unit. I contacted Apple for repair and they sent a mailer. After about 3 days the unit was sent back to me with a note saying basically this was not their fault. I then sent the unit to be repaired at my cost. I was forced to pay for repairs on a warranty item.

We bought an Apple iPod touch from Dick Smith and at the time, queried how many come backs were experienced. We bought an extended warranty as well as two docking stations for our car and home and the pod stopped working after three weeks. After spending time on Internet and call centers, we mailed the pod away and were refused a replacement due to their claim that the pod had been submerged. This is nonsense and Dick Smith has not been helpful at all.

Apple iPod 3rd generation Touch. Battery junk in two months. Apple wouldn't honor warranty. They said there was liquid damage. Yep. Even though their built-in liquid damage indicator showed no damage. I will not buy Apple products ever again.

Cracked screen on my iTouch. It began from a chip on the glass screen. Apple refused to cover damage under warranty. They claim it's "customer misuse". Why would the company sell and market the device as portable if the screen can't hold up? The unit cost $300. It still works, but has a crack across the entire screen.
