SunRocket Internet Phone Service

SunRocket closed its doors abruptly July 16, 2007.

Nilofer of Glendale Heights IL (03/05/08)
After they went out of Business I never got my money back. They sent me a claim form to fill in and fax it. I did that long ago, but still no response. Tried to call the number they called from with no answer. I called the bank to claim the amount but they say I could only do that only within 90 days.

I paid $225 and I signed up for 1 yr and 3 moths. After they went out of Business I had to stay with no phone for sometime and then had to find a career. Lots of Hassles to go through, no word to explain. Also I only had service for few months but they took all the money.

Steve of Wayne PA (12/11/07)
As you are already aware that Sunrocket went out of business in July? But in their website they have mentioned that the creditors will be notified in 30 days . Still they have not done anything.

I am assuming they just changed the name and started Teleblend...which operates exactly the same way as Sunrocket .

Danielle of Rochester NY (09/06/07)
Sunrocket recently went out of business. I started my service on 6/27/06 for $199 per year. On July 4,2007 Sunrocket billed me for a 1 year service charge of $214.11. My service was cut off in the end of July. I can't seem to find any number to call to tell them about the over charge.

Nathalie of Gastonia NC (07/22/07)

We paid up front $349.00 for a full year. We've been using the service for only 5 months. ($29/mth x 5 = $145) Loss of $204! And we don't count the days where we couldn't use the service and all the time spent on the phone with customer service.

Rakibul of Ozone Park NY (07/21/07)

I signed up for Sun Rocket VoIP phone service with a contact that said that I would receive 2 years of phone service from Sun Rocket for a one time price of 199.99. After having the service for about 9 months the company goes out of business and I still have 15 months of service which I paid for. No one at the company answers phone calls it just plays a recording saying that how they are no longer accepting sales or customer service calls and that's it. Also all emails sent to support or billing are ignored. All I got from them is an emails saying that they have gone out of business and that I have to find a new VoIP provider.

Jose of Charlotte NC (07/21/07)

I paid a total of $ 321.70 in advance for the whole year, and now my money is gone. They said I could switch to another company but only the first month would be free.

James of Mt Shasta CA (04/14/07)
After spending many hours on the phone with SunRocket support and never being able to get the SunRocket system to work. I canceled. I received a conformation of cancellation via e-mail. Well they only canceled half of the service and continued to bill me. I called, I e-mailed, and now finally I called while informing them I was making recordings. I have some very interesting things about how they have and it seems they intend to do business.

SunRocket is using the scam that makes a customer jump through the right hoops in the right order to CORRECTLY cancel. Until a customer cancels correctly they may think they have canceled but the SunRocket automatic billing continues. If you call and say hey I tried to cancel SunRocket will offer to refund the last billing cycle but nothing beyond 31 days.

I had to explain to a supervisor (good luck getting hold of a supervisor) that I was going to take the company to Small Claims - after reviewing all the problems I had with support he finally agreed i was due a refund. (we will see if that happens - he tried to get me to agree that the refund resolved the issue, i only agreed to accept the refund but I did not agree the issue was resolved (remember I have the tape).

Eric of Moorpark CA (02/19/07)
I signed up for Sunrocket service in January 2006, and today it is February 2007. I only hooked up my Gismo, their VOIP device, last month. I have been waiting for Sunrocket to transfer my number for a year. I have retained the emails sent to them asking for help. Anyway, as of today Sunrocket has told me that they do not give credits of any kind and that I am out of luck. A supervisor, who refused to give me her name, hung up on me. In reviewing the emails over the year from my perspective is that the company was simply unable to complete a number transfer due to inability, or a lack of caring/follow up. I am now out of $200.00, lost time, and even more money due to having the old service still connected and Sunrocket's.

Damage: $208.00 sign up. Current cell phone charges due to roll over activity.

James of Troy MI (02/05/07)
My telephone went out of order from 2/2/07 until today 2/5/07. The problem is with the adopter sent me to connect the telphone. After a long discussion the representative agreed to send me one overnight and I should have it by Saturday. I waited afternoon of saturday and called the company, that UPS will not deliver the overnight goods on Saturday, therefore, I will have it by Monday.

Monday I called around noon to find out the status, the reps telling me that the item is on back order, I will get one when the company get one meaning they do not know when, and I will be out of phone by all this time. This is an unreliable and irresponsible company just to get the customer the money upfront.

Anne of Wallingford CT (01/29/07)
After spending nearly four hours trying to resolve a credit which was due to me, I was able to talk to a person when I got my credit company to set up a conference call, I was told, in a conference call, that I was owed $407.63. Then SunRocket credited me for half that on my credit card. When asked, I was told that the billing department has rejected what their representative has told me and the credit company representative in a conference call; there is no way anyone in SunRocket could reverse what the billing department did and I was not allowed to speak with the billing department.

Mary Munoz of Canton MI (01/12/07)
SunRocket is billing unauthorized monthly credit card charges after several communications to cancel services.

I am paying for a service I no longer want.

Karen of South Lake Tahoe CA (10/30/06)
Signed up for monthley phone service through our cable, Charter, and when the product arrived I set it all up. It never worked just right. The calls were delayed and hard to hear sometimes. I called a few times and hoped it was resolved. Then a month later we were getting booted off the internet every time we used the phone and it would take hours for the internet to work again. We had the cable company out a few times trying to resolve the problem.

I stopped using the phone in late july and called Sunrocket for some help. They emailed me some things to do and this did not help. At this point they told me they would refund me for September and not charge me in October. I was never refunded in September and they did charge me for October.

I called and talked with I believe her first name was Amy and I was told I would recieve a complete refund from when I first signed up. I then only recieved a refund for one month. I called again and once again was told by a supervisor Ken I believe that I would be refunded the full amount. Today I recieved a letter stating I would not recieve anymore refund than the one month.

Robin of Gardnerville NV (09/01/06)
In December of 2005, I signed up for Sunrocket's VOIP internet phone service. In June 2005 Sunrocket was made aware by the FCC that they had to make their service compatable with 911 service, but did not tell me this was pending. On June 28th at noon, I received an e-mail that because Sunrocket did not get their system in compliance with the FCC ruling of a year before, they were terminating my service. They in fact terminated my service THAT morning before alerting me by e-mail.

I have a home-based business and also tele-commute for Barclays Global Investors and was suddenly cut off. I wasted $85 for the printing of cards for my business, lost business that was calling that day, and this also impacted my work for Barclays. All communications with Sunrocket have been stonewalled, and they will not pick up the phone. And to get another line, I had to get a whole other number because they cut it off so quick, Verison had nothing to change over, I had to start from scratch and alert all of my colleagues and customers.

Hyung of Fairfax VA (07/14/05)
I purchased a unit of internet phone on Dec. 12 and retured it a few days later, but I could not get refunded yet. I contacted them several times in Feb, March, April, and May, but they always change their words.

I want to get compensated for monetary and mental damages.
