Simply Sellular

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I've sold used phones before. Simply Sellular was a bad experience. Bait-and-switch is the modus operandi.. They promise the most for your phone, and the buyback prices advertised on their website are attractive. However, after you send the phones, they always claim a minor problem with the phone, and counter with an offer of 50%-75% of the price advertised on the site.

I sent them a Blackberry 8520 Curve, which was used very little, and a Samsung SCH-U310, which was never used., and they claimed that both were worn out, and offered the reduced buyback price. I complained to the site, and received a gramatically-incorrect one-line response stating that I needed to understand that their process was similar to buying a car at "Bluebook" price. When you see the car, you reduce the price because of use? Stay away from these guys! There are much better quality buyback businesses out there!

I wish I had done some research before sending my phone to this company. I've sent phones to other companies before with no problem. This one offered more than other online cell phone buyers, which should have been the first flag. Anyway, they sent me an email stating that they would only give me half of what was advertised on their site due to "bubbling" on the battery cover. I don't recall anything defective looking on my phone, other than normal wear and tear. And they want $10 to send it back to me! I told them to send me the half amount. We'll see if I get it. I'm not paying them $10 to get my phone back.

I'm not one to go on websites and complain, because I know people make mistakes, but this company really is a scam, and you should be aware that though you send your phone here in good condition, they can make any excuse up in order to not buy your phone. I'm very sure they'll resell it anyway, and if I were a crook, I'd do that too.

I sent in a charged Blackberry that I stopped using, because I switched providers. These people said that the phone wouldn't accept a battery, which has never been the case. The kicker is that they charge $10.00, if they think your phone is not working. Save yourself the egg on your face, and try another company.

I went to their site where you type in your information about the cell phone you're trying to sell. They tell you how much they are going to pay you and send you an envelope to send the phone in. They say they will then test the phone then pay you via check. They sent me an email saying the phone which was working properly had water damage. It is impossible for it to get water damage and said that they are not going to pay me anything and they would "recycle the phone." I contacted them and told them I wanted them to send the phone back, and they say they would charge me $10 to ship my phone back. The phone worked great before I sent it in. They are defrauding people by saying the stuff doesn't work when it gets there, and then hope people don't send the $10 and they keep your phone for themselves for free. This is fraud!

Okay so I went to their site where you type in your information about the cell phone your trying to sell. They tell you how much they are going to pay you and send you an envelope to send the phone in. They say they will then test the phoine then pay you via check. They sent me an email saying the phone which I tested myself a bunch of times before mailing to them somehow would not hold a charge and that they were not going to pay me anything and they would "recylce the phone" I contacted them and told them I wanted them to send the phone back, and they say the would charge me 10 dollars to ship my phone back. The phone worked great before I sent it in, they are defrauding people by saying their stuff doesnt work when it gets there and then hope people dont send the 10 dollars and they keep your phone for themselves for free this is FRAUD!!!
