I was also scammed by Quasar for five months. Be careful. They target Hispanics.

This company is garbage. Be careful. They usually contact Hispanic people. They cheat you offering fake credit cards or gift cards. I had to complain to avoid charges. Bad ATT, they let this happen to their customers.

I'm not sure when this became my long distance carrier. But now they are billing me a second Universal Service Fund fee of $24.16. When I called to question, they were rude and told me that we needed to call our local company. The charges are under them. Please check your bill very carefully.

Without my authorization they changed our home phone to their services. They say we did it in 10/28/2010. Our AT&T bill included their charges but we did not realize we had changed companies. Their charges were higher than those of AT&T. We received a letter from AT&T advising us of the change and immediately we returned to their Long Distance Service.

On our December bill, only the charges for fee and for taxes were on our bill and we called Quasar to complain about it. We were told that we had authorized the change, but I told them that we had no intention of leaving AT&T and immediately went back to them. They agreed that they were going to cancel their service the next day and that only their fee could be cancelled that we were going to be charged for the tax. We called AT&T and they fixed that.

This company claimed to be my mobile phone carrier and they call me to tell me that I was going to receive a 500-free minutes card as a courtesy for our good standing record. They said my name, my address and phone number, then told me that they were going to repeat the same information and that all I needed to do was to say yes to confirm it was correct. At the end of the conversation, they asked me to give my maiden name and I hear fast the name of "Quasar Communication", I immediately asked what that name was and what was the relation with my carrier, but they brushed me off saying that everything was okay and wished me a good day. I immediately became suspicious and called my mobile phone carrier only to find out that they didn't have any record of any courtesy free calls much less to have any association with this company. So beware.

I switched back to my old phone company and now I am being billed for long distance with this phone company Quasar without asking for. When I have called to complain, they said they have a voice recording from me authorizing Quasar to handle my phone long distance service. I think the only way they can have my voice saying yes to their offers is from 6 or 8 months ago when I have changed my phone company to Selectel that was not good enough to stay with it, and it's why I have switched back to Verizon.

Quasar is billing me for 5 phone calls totaling 100 minutes to Hackettstown, NJ; one minute to Rockville, NY and 83 minutes to Ecuador. I was informed on Saturday, February 27, 2010, by Verizon's automated system that my long distance company was switched to other carrier, and it's why I was surprised and called as soon as possible on Monday, March 1st, 2010, to make sure I stay with Verizon. My request is that I won't have to pay for a service I did not ask for as I have said already to Quasar on Monday, March 22nd, 2010.

I have been recently notified by Verizon, that since February of this year, Quasar Communications has been my long distance carrier, charging me outrages rates. I never authorized that they become my long distance carriers.
Early this year, I was getting multiple calls per day from the number 500-500-5000. After doing a search online, I found a website where several people were complaining about this same number calling them, even though we all were on the "Do Not Call" list. When

they called, they only spoke Spanish. If I said anything in English, they would hang up. The next time they called me, I spoke Spanish to them in order to find out who they were. They informed me that they were offering me a free calling card, and asked me if I wanted it. They recorded the conversation asking me if I would accept the free card and if the address that they had on file was correct. I answered yes to those questions in order to find out who these people were. This all happened in February of this year (2008).

I never received that free calling card so I was unable to ID who these people were, until I noticed a charge on my May 2008 bill from a company I didn't recognize.
Verizon informed me that this is common,
that they get many complaints from other
subscribers concerning this company. The person I spoke to even went as far as telling me that they will "doctor" the tape to make it sound like I authorized their service.

That is exactly what happened.

I called
Quasar Communications. They only spoke
to me in Spanish and after disputing that I accepted their service, they played back a recording where I said "yes" to accepting their long distance services, even though that question was NEVER put before me. The woman said that she would cancel my account if I asked for it to be canceled and I
told her VERY clearly to cancel the account I never authorized. Of course, they were NOT recording that onversation and I'm afraid they will NOT cancel the account.
