My partner was scammed by them when she bought a digital camera the other day. She got a call from them with bogus question ("forgot to indicate if signature was needed at delivery..."), to get his foot 'in the door'. He then told her that she needed a "special high speed, high capacity, high def SD card" for it, directed her to Amazon.com listings for the cards he recommended which had them listed for $199.99 (4GB) and $149.99 (2GB). They had posted them for sale at Amazon with these bogus prices which no one will buy but apparently to dupe people like my partner into thinking she is getting a bargain. He said he could give her a reduced price if they were shipped with the camera and proceeded to sell her the 2GB one for $125. You can get 2 and 4 GB class 10 cards for under $10, for chrissake! I didn't find out until after she had opened the package and used the card. What a slimy tactic. Yes, he claimed that this was a "high def" card, whatever the hell that is.
Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I was overcharged for an item and I'm still waiting for the correct amount to be credited.

They are a bunch of crooks! They sent me wrong lenses then resent another after I told them not too and now I am out over 150 dollars for unauthorized shipping and a 20 percent restocking fee. The guy on the phone was a total jack wagon! Don't buy anything from here.

I wish to amend my previous negative review, resend my complaint of 42nd St. Photo.com. Complaint has been resolved. Please, email me upon receipt and change in review. Thank you.

42nd Street Photo.com refuses to address my request to return a product for refund. I want to return and get a refund for the products purchased in amount of $280. On October 18, 2010 I placed a telephone order for a Canon camera body, a Canon lens, a set of lens filters, and a 42nd Street accessory package. At that time, the salesperson (Elloit) suggested a memory card as an in-store special and an extended warranty. I took his suggestion. The total order amounted to $1559.92. The invoice number is **.
Upon arrival of my shipment, I discovered that the 8 GB SD memory card for $79.99 was a product that was inferior to other, much cheaper, memory cards. And the warranty for the camera and lens costing $199.99 was quite limited and a better, more inclusive warranty could be purchased for much less. I contacted the store by telephone on October 28, and spoke with Elloit, I think, and explained my desire to return the products. I was told that I could return the card, but the warranty was non-returnable.
I stated that it was not explained to me that the product was non-returnable when purchased, that not accepting this return was unacceptable to me, and that their web page states 100% satisfaction guarantee and that I am not satisfied. I was told that he would have to check with the manager and would contact me the following day. Daily emails are not returned and multiple daily telephone calls are not answered. It is my belief that my request is being willfully ignored and the return and refund of the product is being refused by their silence. I will be filing a complaint with whatever venues that I can find until this matter is resolved to my satisfaction.

On september 15 I walked into the store to reapair My professional SONY video Camera. They told me that they will have to ship it to get it repaired, but everyother company in NYC does the same, so I give it to them with the promise that it will take the 3 to 5 weeks at most to get the job done. They charged me $163.33 in advance, and promised me they will call me when the camera was ready.
One month later I stopped again since there wasn't any call, and they told me the camera will be back in one or two weeks, and they will call me. Well today is December 29th. 3 months and a half, and they don't know where the camera is.
I'm a professional filmmaker, with a registered production company. This camera is worth over $2,000 in the market, plus is extremely hard to find a rental house for it. I have lost potential clients, and creative opportunities for not having my camera with me.

I bought a camera and other things. I bought a memory card (2gb) He over charged me about $150. I called him up and told him I found a better one at a cheaper price and he kept telling me that the one he sold me was a special type. I then called the manafacture and found out that that was false. So I took it back to him but could not get my money back because of store policy. I did exchange it for a lens that he said was worth $800 dollars but I can not find it any were on the internet. He also sold me a care kit that went along with the camera but left out 3 items that went with it then tried to sell me the items again.
