Barbara of Lorain, OH, writes:
I was unhappy with my job and was desperate for an out.
Stefanchik promised me that for $600.00 I could find privately
held mortgages and offer to buy them. I tried and could not.
So I thought okay that was a hard expensive lesson.
Then all of a sudden I see a charge
for $24.95 on my credit card bill from Stefanchik. I did not
know why I was charged this so I called them. They said I ordered
this tape newsletter back when I ordered the course. I told
her I don't recall that and to credit the charge on my credit
card because I had not recieved this tape and newsletter. She
said no problem they could do that.
In about 7 to 10 days later I received
a package from them, so again I called them. I had checked to
see if a credit was on my card and it was not. I had asked her
if they sent out the package when I specifically ask them not
to and to credit my account. She said that a credit takes up
to 2 weeks to process and the reason the materials were probably
sent out was because my name did not get taken off the mailing
list fast enough.
To this day I have not seen a credit
for that amount and then on top of that on 03/16/2000 they bill
my credit card again, for $24.95, after repeated requests not
to send me anything or charge my credit card. I was furious
when I called and threatened to file a dispute form with my
credit card company and she sort of laughed and said that is
what I would have to do in order to have a chance at getting
my money back.
I don't understand how they can keep
charging items to a credit card without authorization. I have
tried to see if I could put a block of some type on my credit
card, but I can't. My credit card company told me even if I
close that account and open a new account there is still no
gaurantee that will stop them. Please help me get this resolved,
I am in desperate need of help in this matter.
I am a single parent and struggle
at times to make ends meet. I can't afford this charge to randomly
appear without my consent. It puts financial hardship on me
and my son. It causes me unnecessary stress on me to have to
keep fighting with these people. They think it is a joke, but
unfortunately it is not their money being stolen from them it
is mine.
Barbara should sue these characters
in Small
Claims Court and, if any of this transaction occurred through
the mail, file a complaint with the Postal Inspector.
