My husband and I took our 2003 Pontiac Sunfire to get an oil change. We were told that it would be 30-45 minutes. An hour later, my husband got up to look in the work area. Our car was lifted on the risers. My husband asked the man behind the counter how much longer it would be. He was told 'a few more minutes'. Our car was still on the lift. Four employees returned from lunch. The man behind the counter seen that we were irritated and said he would check us out, they were done with our car. We checked out, I looked at the receipt. It was not ours, and our car was still in the bay.

My husband pointed out the error, and then one of the mechanics that I had just seen returning from lunch came to advise us that the previous people that changed the oil in our car (which was ANOTHER Wal-Mart) had put our air filter in wrong and the oil cap was broken. We have had NO oil leak or engine problems to substantiate this.

They told us that they were calling around for a part to repair. Finally, after being there for 4 hours, we were told that the part would not be in until Tuesday (Mem. Day weekend) and they would reimburse us for a rental. My husband refused to pay for this, and by this time, it was near 4 on a Saturday and Wal-Mart claimed that they could not find a place that was open.

We are stuck without a vehicle on Memorial Day weekend. My husband has no way to work, and I am not even sure that they are authorized to make this sort of vehicle repair.

David of Pasco, WA May 3, 2007

After changing the oil in my new Dodge diesel truck, the attendant pulled the truck out of the stall, made a u-turn and damaged my truck.  He hit the right side of the truck, the right tire and rim at about 15 mph.

Wal-mart's insurance is refusing to pay for the full amount of the body repair because it is a "used" truck.  It is 2 months old, with 3K miles!

They say they will pro-rate payment for all parts used to fix it.  They will not pay for the tire, that has sidewall damage or the rim that is cracked since the truck is "used" and they might not have caused the damage!  They claim the truck struck the pole while "parking at a very slow speed".  Actually the truck was being driven to the front of the building.

I had 3200 worth of body damage, 1600 for rims (I could not replace just one rim), 300 for a tire, 280 for a rental car and way too much of my time.

Went to Wal-Mart car service to have them mount and balance some tires and rims I just bought. First of all, the machine placed four groove marks on my new rims, which cost me 526.00 for the set. Second, they were afraid to take the center caps off the rims. I end up entering the service area with my dress shirt and pants on and taking them off. Third, they told me that they couldn't place the tires on my vehicle because they were not the proper size for this vehicle. They acted like nothing was wrong and charged me full price. I didn't want to cause a scene so I paid it and left.

I was checking out and the woman at the register asked me if I was racist. She is African American, I am caucasion. I was driving my husband's truck and he has confederate flag stickers on the back. She said the person who was servicing my truck wanted to know who I was. There were other costomers behind me as well as my children. I feel it was extremely unprofessional behavior.

I had my oil changed on 01-19-2007 which included fluid checks. Right after we had a winter storm which was expected. But they must have put water in my windshield wipers, because the whole system is now froze. Which is a real hazard, since the roads are a mess and all cars are throwing crud all over. I now have no way to clear my windshield, because the fluid that Wal Mart put in my windshield wiper fluid is all frozen. I checked their cheepest fluid and it is suppose to protect to 0 degrees, and it has only been down to 8 and the lowest. When I asked them about it they got real smart mouthed. I was upset and told them thank you for the favor that they charged me for, and one of them said I was welcome!!! I sure don't appreciate being treated this way, when I paid for the service of the oil change and trusted them to do a good job!! Well obviously that trust was unfounded!

Donna of Rockport, TX January 5, 2007

On December 29th, 2006, my husband's truck had a flat tire, so he took the tire to the local Wal-Mart for repair. A young employee had great difficulty getting the tire off the rim on the machine and after several attempts, he summoned another young employee over to help him. They then resorted to force it off, using a tire tool. They fixed the flat, which had a leaky valve stem.

When they tried to balance the tire/rim, they were unable to. I was then told that my rim was cracked. I told them it was not cracked when it arrived. The crack is 4 inches long and very visible. We would have seen the crack had it been there when we took the rim in to Wal-Mart.

I returned early the next morning and the manager turned the claim in, but it was denied because the rim was “already cracked“. I went back to the store and spoke with yet another manager, who told me that he would do further investigation and that there are 10 cameras in the work area that film all activity. He was to check the films to verify that the 2 men had a problem getting the tire off the rim and that they used the tire tool on it. He assured me he would call me back that day. No call.

After days of phone calls and rejection, I called the Wal-Mart store to ask if they can change 18" tires and I was told, yes, unless they are aluminum! I then called the claims adjustor who told me that the machines are designed to remove tires unless they are 18" tires. DUH! This is what they worked on....an 18" tire and rim! He then told me that no matter what the tapes showed when viewed, that the claim is denied and will remain denied.

I am appalled that we were treated this way. They have lost a customer who spends thousands of dollars there yearly. We have a cracked aluminum rim that we cannot use. The replacement cost is 569.00 and we have to bear that cost.

I took my car to Walmart Express for Lube, Oil, Filter on 6 different occasions. We travel around the country and it was a convenient place to get the car serviced. Last week I was doing brake work on my car when I noticed that the upper ball joints had definitely not been lubed 300 miles before. Checking the service record, Walmart's printout showed they had lubed only 2 fittings. Going back through my previous Walmart records I found that they had lubed anywhere from 0 (zero0 to 9 fittings.

I always trusted that when you pay for a lube job, you get a complete lube job. When I returned to the last Walmart, they took my car in and greased two additional fittings. I was told to always mention that there were 6 fittings on the car. Not 9? Not 2? Not 6? I don't know how much damage was done to the car. I change the oil and get a grease job every 3000 miles so my car will be well cared for. But Walmart cannot be trusted to do the work. Please check your service records. Walmart shows how many fittings are greased. Other, more legitimate services, do not need to do this because they can be trusted to do a complete job.

I cannot determine the extent of damage, but I know a defective service when I see it.

I take all 3 of my vehicles to Wal-Mart for an oil change. 25.96 for an oil change and fluid check is not bad. I had never really had a problem until I got my diesel truck. The problem happened the first time I took it in for an oil change. I was in such a hurry that I did not catch the problem until I got home, and I never got around to going back. Well, my truck was due for another oil change so this time I made sure to check everything before I left. Here is the problem. My ford diesel truck holds 15 quarts of oil. When you get the 21.95 oil change it includes 5 quarts oil. However, since this is not enough oil, Wal-Mart charges for the additional oil they need which in turn is all the oil they use. So, on the receipt, I was charged the 25.96 (which includes 5 quarts) and then an additional 28.67 for 14 quarts of oil. I was charged a total of 18 quarts for a truck that holds 15, and only got 14 quarts put in it.

Since I caught it this time, I brought it to their attention. The gentleman in the shop understood the dilemma, but the cashier was the one who needed to correct the problem. Since she did not understand what was wrong, a manager was brought in. After a long while of explaining the problem, he agreed to give me a credit back for the 5 quarts- a difference of nearly 15. Again, I was in a hurry and said, just give me the oil that I was charged for since the return would have taken another 30 minutes out of my day. I ended up leaving with a gallon instead of the 5 quarts, but I was happy to get that and be on my way. I live in an area where several Winter Texans visit. A lot of them drive diesel trucks along with so many other people. Without a doubt, Wal-Mart gets away with overcharging like this on a regular basis. They did it to me once before, but I caught it.

Pamela of Florence, SC August 6, 2006

I took my 2000 Mecedes Benz E320 to Walmart Supercenter in Florence SC for a oil change on 24 May 2006 prior to going on to visit my mother in NC. I smelled oil for the entire road trip and had my cousin check under my hood when I got to my mother's house. He found oil all over my engine, so he cleaned it up the best he could and I called the nearest Walmart in Franklin, VA. They told me to check the oil and immediately bring it into the store. Larry729 check my car and discovered that the oil was blowing back from the oil filter because it was not tight, so he called the Florence SC Walmart to inform him what he had found and that his store was going to replace the filter and oil. No one ever contacted me about the mess up in Florence SC.

My car now has damage from that incident and the Becks Imports Mecedes Dealer in Charlotte NC is telling me that the care may have damage to the Mass Air Flow system because of the oil blowing back for the three hour drive or oil damaged a sensor or the plugs which has caused a safety device to kick which has caused the transmission not to come out of low gear to help prevent damage to the engine. The Service Manager at Becks Imports told me to take the car to a local Mecedes Dealer in Florence to have the car checked and it would cost 140.00 just for the test and repairs could be as much as 4500 depending on what they find. I do not have this type of money to put in my car or have money right now to get a new one because I'm attending a nursing program with two kids, one only three months old, and only working on the weekends. My husband is carrying most of the bills and we have a second car payment.

I wish I hadn't of listened to my husband when he told me to forget about it back in May when Walmart didn't contact me back, because I never would have throught that I would have this damage 2 months down the road. Walmart had changed my oil for two years straight with no problems and I always had to take my filter because they didn't carry it, but I should have know something when the service tech was complaining to the lady at the register about changing my oil and saying that he wasn't sure if they could change it on that type of vehicle and he wasn't the one that normally changed it in the past. She had to inform the technician that my vehicle was in the system at their store and he had an attitude from that point on.

Octavio of Loxahatchee, FL August 4, 2006

I took my car to get an oil and filter change at walmart, well they never tightened the oil filter and my engine blew, i contacted wallmart and they put in a claim with their insurance. the insurance called me and sd that wallmart is not responsible and that I have to pay an independent agent for a report on the vehicle wich will cost me 1000.00 dollars that they don't cover. now the car is only worth 3,000.00. I now have no car because of walmart and their insurance company made it so difficult for them to pay that is just not worth it. also i lost my job because now i have no car.
