My husband and I took our 2003 Pontiac Sunfire to get an oil change. We were told that it would be 30-45 minutes. An hour later, my husband got up to look in the work area. Our car was lifted on the risers. My husband asked the man behind the counter how much longer it would be. He was told 'a few more minutes'. Our car was still on the lift. Four employees returned from lunch. The man behind the counter seen that we were irritated and said he would check us out, they were done with our car. We checked out, I looked at the receipt. It was not ours, and our car was still in the bay. My husband pointed out the error, and then one of the mechanics that I had just seen returning from lunch came to advise us that the previous people that changed the oil in our car (which was ANOTHER Wal-Mart) had put our air filter in wrong and the oil cap was broken. We have had NO oil leak or engine problems to substantiate this. They told us that they were calling around for a part to repair. Finally, after being there for 4 hours, we were told that the part would not be in until Tuesday (Mem. Day weekend) and they would reimburse us for a rental. My husband refused to pay for this, and by this time, it was near 4 on a Saturday and Wal-Mart claimed that they could not find a place that was open. David of Pasco, WA May 3, 2007
Wal-mart's insurance is refusing to pay for the full amount of the body repair because it is a "used" truck. It is 2 months old, with 3K miles! They say they will pro-rate payment for all parts used to fix it. They will not pay for the tire, that has sidewall damage or the rim that is cracked since the truck is "used" and they might not have caused the damage! They claim the truck struck the pole while "parking at a very slow speed". Actually the truck was being driven to the front of the building. I had 3200 worth of body damage, 1600 for rims (I could not replace just one rim), 300 for a tire, 280 for a rental car and way too much of my time. Jeremy of Erie, PA April 7, 2007
Went to Wal-Mart car service to have them mount and balance some tires and rims I just bought. First of all, the machine placed four groove marks on my new rims, which cost me 526.00 for the set. Second, they were afraid to take the center caps off the rims. I end up entering the service area with my dress shirt and pants on and taking them off. Third, they told me that they couldn't place the tires on my vehicle because they were not the proper size for this vehicle. They acted like nothing was wrong and charged me full price. I didn't want to cause a scene so I paid it and left. Patricia of Jasper, HI March 16, 2007

Donna of Rockport, TX January 5, 2007 On December 29th, 2006, my husband's truck had a flat tire, so he took the tire to the local Wal-Mart for repair. A young employee had great difficulty getting the tire off the rim on the machine and after several attempts, he summoned another young employee over to help him. They then resorted to force it off, using a tire tool. They fixed the flat, which had a leaky valve stem. When they tried to balance the tire/rim, they were unable to. I was then told that my rim was cracked. I told them it was not cracked when it arrived. The crack is 4 inches long and very visible. We would have seen the crack had it been there when we took the rim in to Wal-Mart. I returned early the next morning and the manager turned the claim in, but it was denied because the rim was “already cracked“. I went back to the store and spoke with yet another manager, who told me that he would do further investigation and that there are 10 cameras in the work area that film all activity. He was to check the films to verify that the 2 men had a problem getting the tire off the rim and that they used the tire tool on it. He assured me he would call me back that day. No call. After days of phone calls and rejection, I called the Wal-Mart store to ask if they can change 18" tires and I was told, yes, unless they are aluminum! I then called the claims adjustor who told me that the machines are designed to remove tires unless they are 18" tires. DUH! This is what they worked on....an 18" tire and rim! He then told me that no matter what the tapes showed when viewed, that the claim is denied and will remain denied. I am appalled that we were treated this way. They have lost a customer who spends thousands of dollars there yearly. We have a cracked aluminum rim that we cannot use. The replacement cost is 569.00 and we have to bear that cost. I cannot determine the extent of damage, but I know a defective service when I see it. David W. Winkler of Mission, TX August 10, 2006
Since I caught it this time, I brought it to their attention. The gentleman in the shop understood the dilemma, but the cashier was the one who needed to correct the problem. Since she did not understand what was wrong, a manager was brought in. After a long while of explaining the problem, he agreed to give me a credit back for the 5 quarts- a difference of nearly 15. Again, I was in a hurry and said, just give me the oil that I was charged for since the return would have taken another 30 minutes out of my day. I ended up leaving with a gallon instead of the 5 quarts, but I was happy to get that and be on my way. I live in an area where several Winter Texans visit. A lot of them drive diesel trucks along with so many other people. Without a doubt, Wal-Mart gets away with overcharging like this on a regular basis. They did it to me once before, but I caught it.
