Unintended Acceleration

You recently ran an article dealing with unintended acceleration on the Plymouth Neon, and the Jeep Cherokee.

These are not the first vehicles to have this type of problem. I was a mechanic with the city police garage in Louisville, Ky. for 25 years, and experianced this same type of problem on Ford Crown Victorias.

It was determined that Ford had installed a number of defective electronic cruise control modules. The module would short out, causing the vehicle to go into wide open throttle, even though the cruise control was in "off" position.

Of course, I cannot guarentee that this is the problem, but I would definitely make this my first area to check. Thank you for taking the time to read this, I hope it may be of help.
