Back in January 19, 2011, I brought my 2003 Acura CL 3.5 in for a transmission repair. They had to replace the transmission, costing $1628.47. When it was ready, I went to get the car and I noticed a warning light was on for the traction control SRS. I asked Rob to come out and see, he said he would get the technician that worked on the car to look at it. The technician came out and hooked up a computer to the vehicle and said that there was no code so he could not reset the light. I went in to speak to Rob he told me that his computer was not as accurate as Acura's computer and if I would bring it to them to see if they could diagnose the problem, then he would take care of the repair.
I brought the car to Acura after a while and they checked it and said that the left front cabin wiring harness was damaged after transmission was replaced. They wanted $1699.00 to replace the harness and fix the problem. I told them to hold on and I would get back to them. I called Rob at Trans-Plant Transmission and told him what they said and if he would like a chance to fix it first. Rob said he would like that and to drop the car off on Tuesday, 6/21/11. He needed a couple of days to work on it. I agreed dropped the car off as scheduled, waited a few days, and Rob did not call to let me know what was going on.
I waited until Friday, 6/24/1 then I called and spoke to Rob and asked what was going on. He said he didn't know and that he would call me back in 15 minutes and that the technician was on a road test. That was around 9:30 a.m., I called him back at 12:00 noon. Rob had left for the day and would not be back. So, I asked if he knew about my Acura and he stated he was the technician that was working on it and that he has not had a lot of time to look at it because they have been busy. I asked how much time have they have spent on it, he said a couple of hours. I was mad at this point. I said to him, "You have had my car since Tuesday and it has been 4 days what the heck is going on?" I told him that I would be coming to get the car on Tuesday, 6/29/11, ready or not. I want someone to repair what Trans-Plant Transmission broke. He said that he would look at it.
On Tuesday, I went to pick up the car, hoping that they fixed it. When I got there, of course Rob was gone for the day and again was not coming back. I dealt with the technician that was working on the car. He again said to me he only spent a couple of hours on it and would need more time. I said, "You have had my car for 8 days and only looked at it for around 5 hours." I told him that I would be taking it.
I then asked for paper work on the vehicle, he said to me that the only paper he had was a handwritten one. I asked him if I have to sign anything. He said, "No." I said that I needed paper work. He then gave me a copy of this handwritten one and it had very little information. There were no dates, no drop off time, and no pick up date. I made him put a drop off date and a pick up date on the repair order. He crossed out one of the dates, I made him initial it. I asked if this was a common practice for paper work, he had no answer. He said he is not the owner and could not supply anything else. I took my car and left.
Since then, I contacted the B.B.B. They said they would try to find out what was going on and that they would write him or call and see what he has to say. I waited a couple of weeks and B.B.B. contacted me and stated that they had not heard from Rob and that they would try again. They emailed me a week later and said that they did not receive a response from Trans-Plant Transmission and that they could not go any further and that they would list my complaint on their site for further customers to see. I am now trying to file a small claim suit against Trans-Plant Transmission to see if I can get the vehicle repaired. Oh boy, what a nightmare.
Thank you.Benjamin
