Thompson Ford
Tullahoma, TN

Brian of McMinnville, TN, writes:

I bought a 1999 Ford Explorer XLT loaded in July. I have since had many problems which started only two weeks after we purchased the vehicle.

Let me name the problems

  1. When starting the vehicle "mechanical error" would show up on the display area

  2. Ppaint was flaking off the hood and top

  3. After being painted we noticed the paint was a different color

  4. Sstarter was hanging when first started of the morning

  5. Sspeedometer would hang on 30 mph.

  6. Popping in the frontend

After taking the vehicle back for the paint being a different color we asked Mr. Thompson to order us a new Explorer (2000 model) . We were told it would take a couple of weeks to get here and he would call when it came in.

The problems were resolved in this way:

  1. We were told to keep a CD in the changer at all times to make it stop showing up

  2. The vehicle was painted

  3. They offered to paint the entire vehicle the color that was on the hood and top , we refused to have it painted a color that we did not pay for

  4. Put a new starter on it

  5. Put a new speedometer on it

  6. Replaced a tie rod

W

e are not sure what they really did, if anything, because it started popping again two days later.

Now a bolt has worn loose on something and they screwed it back in place and put Locktight on it so it would not loosen again

We have been back to the dealership in different occasions to see if the new vehicle is in yet and they say it is on back order. It was supposed to have been here almost three months ago. We are getting the impression that they do not care if the vehicle gets fixed or replaced. We do not know what if anything will go wrong next or if we will be stranded. We bought a new vehicle so we would not have to worry about that.

After all this, you ordered another one of these things from the same dealer?
