Super Sport Auto, Miami, FL

J.M. of North Miami Beach writes:

Three months ago the engine in my car blew. (Someone at SuperSport) said he would help me find an inexpensive engine to replace the blown one. He called me and told me he found one for $500. That day he said he put out his pocket $200 and the balance would have to be paid off. He came to my home and I gave him $180.

This was 3 months ago. My car is still not fixed and and now he upped the price to $600. I have come to find out by the person who is actually doing the work on my car that a new engine or newer engine was not replaced. I have been ripped off, lied to and abused by this operation.

On December 16th I was told that my car would finally be ready. I missed a day of work to go pick up my car. When I arived the car was still not done. I gave an additional $175.00 I was told that they were waiting for parts. They now agreed to give me my car on the terms that I give tem my title, provide a work verification, social securtiy number, drivers license, and an  additional $25.00 leaving my balance $240.00 which they want me to sign a UDCC form allowing me 30 days to pay off teh $240.00 or they will repo my car.

My car is worth a lot more than $240.00 and I feel that I have been abused by these people. This isnt right.  And it sure doesnt take 3 months to fix a car. Please help me.

This has caused me to miss several days of work over a 3 months period. I am a single mom and have not been able to make the money i would have made if i had my car. Its has caused me emotional distress as well, being told next week next week everytime i would call to find out about my car. It has also put my job on the line because I feel abused and this isnt the way business is supposed to be done.

I am dependant on having a car to get my child to and from daycare, doctor etc and myself to work to make the money to pay my bills. It does not take 3 months to fix a car. Please help me.....

Our attorneys have reviewed your complaint and they recommend that you hire a local lawyer to help you. If you do not have a lawyer, you can call the Dade County Bar Association and they will help you find one.

You can also find a lawyer by searching the Martindale-Hubbell Directory, located at http://www.martindale.com/ It lists lawyers and law firms by specialty and contains quite a bit of background on each attorney's educational background.

Good luck. Let us know what happens.
