2003 Vue oil filter cover/holder - The original failed to seal well. Two replacements have failed as the overpressure spring broke out of the housing causing the engine to knock and crush the filter. Two in a row - must be defective. Please respond.
Consumer Complaints & Reviews

Saturn Vue original trans failed at 121,500. Based on what I read, I was lucky to have had it last that long. As new GM failed to uphold the results of the lawsuit, that is to cover replacement for a defective product, I had to pay $5000 for parts and labor to replace. I was told warranty is 3-year/36k miles. I went ahead, thinking if I get three years that would be great and worth the money. Now, at 2 years and 34,000 miles, I have a failing trans and am being told that no, the warranty is only 12/12. I am screwed. Even my mechanic was told 3/36 by dealership where he bought it. Get it on paper, people. I cannot afford a new car or $5k to get another bad trans. I am stuck in PA.

The anti-sway bar of my 2006 Saturn Vue snapped when making a right-hand turn at normal driving speed. The Vue was taken to the local Chevy dealership. The vehicle spent 21 days in the shop because they were unable to locate a new part. The dealership found a used part and charged the new part price. Six days later, this same part broke again, this time making a left-hand turn into my driveway. The vehicle is again in the shop.

My transmission went out in my Saturn Vue on February 14, 2012. It did not give me a warning or anything; it just went out while I was driving. I looked up the info about the transmission and contacted both CarMax and GM about this due to the fact that I purchased the car in June 2009. After a month of back and forth with GM and no one wanting to take blame, I was told that though I have the faulty transmission, I am not covered under the warranty because it would have had to go out before March 2011 and I was 2000 miles over the warranty (100,000 miles).
I explained to them that the average car comes with the same warranty and I cannot tell my transmission when it needs to go out. GM refused to help pay for a new transmission and refused to give me a credit towards a new car, though they said they were or take responsibility.
I am a single mom with 4 kids, and though it is not their fault I am single or have 4 kids, it lets me know they do not care about the consumers. I need transportation to get them back and forth to school and me to work. I have no car and rely on someone to take me to work and take my kids to school, or I am forced to use public transportation to get where we need to go.
I have no idea what to do at this point, and I do not have the money for a new car, new transmission; nothing. I just wanted GM to fix the darn car or give me a credit towards a new one without having to take care of the negative equity or putting money down. I am just frustrated. I need to know what to do to resolve this issue,

I have a 2008 Saturn Vue. At 80,000, the transmission went out, I assumed that when Saturn went out of business so did the bumper to bumper powertrain warranty. Weeks after having the transmission rebuilt, I found that the warranty work is still done. So I called a Saturn dealer in Utah to see if there was a possibility to be reimbursed for the cost of the rebuild. The dealership sent me a form and I got the paperwork together and sent it to GM. Fairly quickly, I got a call saying that our vehicle did not fall under a recall. I told the person from GM that I knew it wasn't a recall but a warranty issue. The GM rep referred me back to the dealership. The dealership told me that there is no other option. I am not out to get money, just an answer to why nothing could be done and is there anything that really could be?

Saturn 200 VUE, Bad Transmission Chain - My CBT transmission chain belt went out, after only a couple of years! The car has been sitting in my drive way (not drivable) for the last 2 years! I have been awaiting a recall! I cannot believe with all the issues viewed here, still no recall has been done. Disgraceful!

The timing chain broke and caused the valves to bend which means the car needs a new engine. It looks like this is a recurring problem with Vue's. Our car has 105,00 miles on it. It seems to me that the company needs to make some kind of offer to remedy this issue since it happens so frequently on these products. In talking with many mechanics, this is the only car that has this problem.

I fell in love with the Saturn VUE's when they first came out with them in 2000. I wanted one so bad. In 2002, I was in an accident in my 1995 Saturn Sedan with a tractor trailer. After 2 years of lawyers fees, I had enough settlement left over to buy a 2003 Saturn VUE. It was exactly what I was looking for, the color & all. I didn't care about the size of the motor. I was excited to be able to buy the car I wanted.
Last year, I started hearing a noise coming from the motor that turned out to be the timing chain. Just recently, I had to take it off the road to keep it from blowing the motor. The 1995 Saturn was just taken off the road a couple weeks before with shot piston rings after 135k miles. We are now down to borrowing my father-in-law's truck, leaving us with no vehicle for me to take my kids to their doctor's appointment while my husband is at work. I have to drum up $700.00 to replace a timing chain that Saturn knew had problems way back when.
I understand that Saturn is out of business, but they are still repaired by GM parts. With all the complaints that I have been reading, you would think that GM would figure out in the long run that it would probably be cheaper to fix the problems rather than wait for the government to finally force a law suit causing more money to be paid out.
I still love my Saturn VUE even though the transmission will most likely go out yet. But I have had this car for 6.5 years now & this is the first major problem I have had with it. Many others of you have had major problems from the start. I just want mine fixed. I just don't feel I should be responsible to pay for the problem GM knew was there.

I bought a 2004 Saturn Vue, second hand from a dealer in 2007. The first sign of trouble (2008) was a loss of power coupled with clutch to the floor. I managed to get it in gear and drive it to a repair shop (not a dealer, but a very reputable local shop). The master clutch cylinder was shot. Its cost was $400. The mechanic also informed me the car was going into gear, but with a grinding chirp in third. He said it was most likely a synchro ring.
I then left on a cross-country trip. A day into my trip the clutch was springy again, so I topped it up with Automatic Transition Fluid (Oops--should have been brake fluid). Four hours later my clutch pedal froze and then finally just fell to the floor. Luckily I was right at an exit with another very nice repair shop. It needed a full clutch system replacement. One week in the shop, and $1500 later, I was back on the road.
The second sign of trouble was last winter (1/2011). The car would run and shift, but not go into gear again. The clutch, however, was still feeling normal. Having no money, I started researching possibilities. This was when I learned of all the Saturn transmission problems. Luckily, I noticed an anomaly on the shift linkage. The tension pin in the shift linkage sheared off both sides of the input shaft. I managed to get two thirds of the pin out, but the middle pin was fused. I couldn't get the new pin in more than half way. It was in far enough to shift the car so we just left it at that until I could get back grinding the pin out or whatever.
The third problem (3/2011) was a replaced, worn, passenger side, wheel bearing. The fourth problem (6/11) was a severe loss of power and blinking check engine light. The AAMCO repair shop found a bad coil pack, $500 to get fixed, but the engine light is now steady on. (The original repair man said a very narrow fault tolerance on one emissions computer was known to put the light on in this model of car and it would sometimes be on and sometimes off).
Finally (10/11) I start having problems getting my car into third, then a clunk and now I can only use 1, 2, 5 and R. It is likely that the synchro ring finally broke. I might replace the transmission myself because I can almost afford $1k; no way I can do or would do more. I emailed Saturn to see what they would do about the transmission which is known to have many problems.

My 2005 Saturn Vue auto transmission started slipping and banging after about 3 years. I was in fear of a major repair bill. I received a letter in the mail from GM stating that the 2005 Vue transmission was being recalled due to faulty assembly. I was instructed to take the car to the Saturn dealer. If I had already repaired my transmission, I was supposed to submit receipts for reimbursement of repair cost up to $3000. I took it to the dealer and they found the transmission was faulty and was covered under the recall. The dealer installed a new transmission at no cost to me. The limitation was the car had to be 5 years old or less and/or certain amount of mileage. Check the Chevrolet dealer who should be able to research this for you. Hope it helps.

I took my 2006 Saturn Vue to Larry Green dealership for simple diagnosis. 2 hours later, I found out that they ran a compression test with the cover off of my timing belt. The belt slipped and bent the valves. This was the beginning of all my major problems. They kept the car for 2 months trying to correct their mistakes. I got the car back and it was never the same. I took it back 2 times, then I didn't see my car for 3 more months, getting the runaround about parts. There were several mechanics working on my car within those months that are now no longer there. I finally got my car back, after they ruined it telling me to go to another GM dealer to have them fix what they couldn't. This car was a great car with 65,000 miles, not even 5 years old, and I am still paying for it at the tune of $29,000. The body and interior are still like new. I take very good care of my vehicles and I have had a Saturn for 21 years.

Within 8 weeks, my 2004 Saturn VUE (V6, FWD 3.5 Honda Motor) has been in the auto repair shop four times for a front brake issue. At first, it was the master cylinder, then it was a caliper and then it was the ABS master switch, all which have been replaced and now today, again the VUE is back in the shop for a defective brake line.

I purchased a 2008 Saturn Vue on 7/7. A month and a half later, the issues began. On 9/2, I started seeing smoke coming out of the vents with a strong coolant smell as if the antifreeze was burning. There was also an oily film on the windshield. I thought that it would go away but it continued the following day and the day after. It worsens if the air is turned on.
Not even two months after purchase, my vehicle took its first trip to my privately owned auto shop. I was told by the mechanic that the hose for heating and air conditioning needed to be cleared out for any blockage. The vehicle was fine for a day or two and the same issue occurred. On 9/9, I returned to the shop and the hose was checked. There was no smoke or vapor from the vents or oily film on the windshield for two days.
I called Saturn customer service to report this issue. They took all of my information and told me to take it to a GM dealer. I made an appointment with Mike Anderson, a GM certified dealer in Merrillville, Indiana. I was told that I will be charged $79.95 for each problem or complaint. On 9/16, I took the vehicle back for a different diagnosis and was told that the heater core needed to be replaced due to a fracture causing the antifreeze to leak. The antifreeze or coolant drips on the engine causing a vapor or mist to blow through the vents, causing an oily film on the windshield.
On 9/21, my vehicle was dead. It wouldn't start at all. Yes! A vehicle that wasn't even three months old had a dead battery, I assumed. I used jumper cables to revive it. On 9/23, I took it to the GM dealer to be told by Joshua ** in customer service that the diagnosis is a fracture in the heater core and the entire part need to be replaced. In order to perform this repair, the entire dashboard had to be removed. Also, the battery was very weak. Joshua quoted me $1,600.00 plus $79.95 for the diagnosis. Who has that kind of money these days? Joshua attempted to bring me the vehicle and the vehicle was dead again. He used jumper cables and drove it for about five minutes and delivered it to me.
I called Saturn customer service back and gave Julie more information on the diagnosis and the cost. She asked for my private auto shop that I use normally and I gave that information also. She worded the complaint as seeking "reimbursement" for repairs and gave me the misunderstanding that I could take it to my privately owned auto shop.
I got a return call two days later only to be told that I should have taken it back to the GM dealer for repairs because they reduced the cost. What a disappointment! Why wasn't I told that in the first place by Red at customer service when I called on 9/9 or Julie when I called on 9/26? In the future, customers should be told not to take their vehicles to an outside shop because assistance cannot be given.

For the third time now, in the last nine weeks, my Saturn VUE 2005 has been towed in to the mechanic for shutting down on me while driving. My T/C light and engine light would come on as well. My service light and anti-freeze overflow lit during the third time. I contacted GM numerous times to find out what can be done. The first time, they reprogrammed the TCM, then the second time, they replaced the Torque Convertor. Now the third time after a diagnostic test was done, they are not 100% sure if the converter is causing these codes to come up or if it's the one damaging my transmission. I am still making payments on my truck and I'm stuck without a car. At this time, the dealer/mechanic and GM is refusing to provide me with a rental car because they say I am not eligible for one. The dealer/mechanic is waiting for GM to decide if they will cover the expenses to open my transmission, further diagnose it, and fix it properly.

I have a 2003 Saturn Vue, which I purchased used in 2009. The transmission went out in '09 and I had to replace it. GM would only do 50/50 so I had to come up with over $2000 myself.
I am now having problems with it again. It needs another replacement and I was told that the warranty on the first transmission was for 12,000 miles or one year so GM will not help with replacement. The only thing GM will do is give a small credit towards a new GM vehicle.

I purchased a 2008 Saturn Vue XR on July 7, 2011. On September 2, 2011, smoke started coming through the vents with a strong smell like something was burning. It went away and didn't return for the rest of the day. Well, I didn't drive it for the rest of the day actually. On September 3rd and 4th, it did the same thing while I was driving and became worse if I turned the air conditioner on.
Not even two months after purchasing this vehicle, and already the vehicle's first trip at the shop on September 5, 2011. The mechanic explained that the hose for heating/air was cleared of any blockage. On September 9, 2011, I had to return it to the shop for the same problem. They gave me an oil change and checked the hose. There was no vapor/mist coming out of the vents for 2 days. The third trip to the shop was on September 16, 2011 for the same issues; strong coolant smell, vapor or mist coming out of the vents, and oily film on the windshield.
On September 9th, I called and filed a complaint with Saturn customer service. I was told to take it to a GM certified dealer and have them diagnose the problem. My appointment was on September 23, 2011 at Mike Anderson in Merrillville, Indiana. On September 21, 2011, I attempted to start the vehicle and it wouldn't start. I had to use my husband's vehicle to take my child to school. In the meantime, my husband used a battery conditioner to recondition the battery and jumper cables to start the vehicle.
I went to Mike Anderson Chevrolet on September 23, 2011. Joshua ** took care of me in the service department. They kept the vehicle overnight. On September 24, 2011, I was quoted $1,600.00 for Heater Core Replacement due to a fracture in the core causing an antifreeze leakage. Also, the battery needed to be replaced because it was dead again when Joshua tried to bring me the vehicle. Joshua used jumper cables and revived the vehicle.

I was driving to work on the expressway. The car just stopped moving.

I have a 2003 Saturn Vue. The last couple of years I've had the same issue with my key. First it would just come out with the car on. Then periodically stick and not come out.
I was just searching a website to find out where to get another key and found all these complaints. The key actually is shaved down and the teeth are almost smooth, so I know it's grinding on something. I just figured with Saturn out of business, I have no recourse. Now to hear the expense it will cost is crazy.
Is there anything can I do?

I purchased a 2005 Saturn Vue in 2008 and I have had nothing but problems since day one. Every time I brought my truck back to the dealership, they never admitted to hearing noises coming from my engine. I received a letter in the mail about a recall for my Transmission Control Module (TCM). I had the TCM reprogrammed one week later but my truck was still giving me problems. It won't accelerate and my TC & engine light would come on.
I brought it back to the dealership and they are trying to convince me to open the transmission for further diagnostic testing but not at their expense. They want to change the converter but the service manager thinks that it's a waste of time. Now, I have no vehicle at the moment and I am still giving payments to the bank. I contacted GMAC and GM and they are not willing to provide me with a rental car. They are also not willing to fix my truck properly.

We have had numerous problems with our 2006 Saturn Vue, which all started with having to roll over extra payments from a 2005 Vue that we had multiple problems with. The first major issue we had was the torque converter, where they said they could never recreate the incident so couldn't help us.
They finally replaced it (before the recall came out) and at that time, they also "replaced" the ignition because of the problems we were having trying to turn the key to start the car. We're unsure if they actually replaced it or not.
Now, we are once again having ignition problems and we are out of warranty. The GM dealership wants to charge me $80 for the ignition tumbler and $60 per key to recode them. That is with me installing it by the way.

In January 2010, my family purchased a one owner, 2003 Saturn Vue 6 cyl. It was a great SUV until last week. That was the day the VTI transmission decided to come apart whilst I was driving on the Interstate at 70mph in rush hour traffic.
Upon getting it into the "old Saturn dealership", I was told by the service manager that this was a known problem, GM had an "extended policy" on it and I should call the above number to start a claim.
I went home and looked this "known problem" that was not issued as a recall but rather as an "internal service memo". Imagine my dismay at finding out that the previous owners had been informed of the problem, traded the Saturn in and were able to buy it all within the space of a month. It seems, according to the attorneys that filed the class action suit against GM, that the notice was to travel with the title (of course it didn't or we'd not have bought the car). We were to be offered 5K in credits on a new GM car and there would be no "punishment" on the trade-in of the piece of junk we now owned. Because it was not recalled, Carfax, NTSB, et al. didn't warn us either.
A week later, I finally got a call from GM and was told that I was "outside" the class, but GM would look into getting me "something, no promises". The "offer" came through today. They'd give us the 5K in credits toward a new GM car, but nothing else. No trade in ("that 5K is the trade in) value and nothing more.

We have had Saturns ever since they first came out in 1991 and never had a problem until last night. Our daughter's 2003 VUE kicked up a fuss and would not give us the key. She had been out to Colorado recently to see a friend who flew her out there. He works there in Aspen as a valet, etc. She called him to see if he had run into this and he had. First, the VUE was at standard shift and the car was off. My wife had used the key to roll the windows up when this all started. She came in to report what was going on, so I went out to try it and was amazed at how tight the key was -- like it had been seized. I tried wiggling the steering wheel -- a lot, but it did not help. I also rolled the car back a bit and popped the clutch to jar the tranny -- no success.
Our daughter then called her friend in Colorado. He told her to turn the steering wheel all the way until it locked or it would never come out, which was quite a task, but she did. Then once it locked, he told her to wiggle it back and forth, like you normally would do. She did that and out came the key. I checked the key and was astounded at how badly it was worn. One person here commented on the metal flakes found inside the switch and my first guess would be those were from the key itself. I had the spare key and compared the two. I simply could not believe how badly it was worn. I have a 1983 Lincoln with 168,000 on it that has better keys than that. He then told her to get some graphite into it which I am going to do this morning. I have some powdered graphite I'm going to use. I'm not too sure on the overall effectiveness of graphite oil because of the washing effect of the oil, though it would be easier to use.
I would not use WD-40. I love the stuff and use it a lot, but not for locks. Ask any good clock maker (I'm not one) about WD-40 and they will tell you it eventually causes gumming. I have seen many Saturns with over 200,000 on them that never had this problem, and some with over 300,000. But they were older models. The newer ones seem to be more susceptible to this -- maybe the ignitions were made in C____. Who knows? Our daughter's neighbor has 2 Saturns and has had the problem with both. My wife's cousin bought a Saturn at our recommendation and soon had the same problem. They got it fixed and dumped it. They have been such good cars. It's amazing they ever had this kind of problem without addressing it properly, but they did. My advice is make sure to check your key. I would not even take a chance of ever sticking my daughter's key back in the ignition. Then get some graphite into it. Then pray. In fact, pray first. Then pray some more.

I purchased my new 2006 Saturn Vue from a Saturn Dealership in Niles, OH (this dealership no longer exists).
At 16,000 miles and less than one year from date of purchase, the ignition housing would not turn. I took my car back to the dealership and at first was told that 'sometimes if the wheel is locked, that will happen'. I was aware of the wheel lock feature on cars and further explained that this issue was not that. The technician ignored my complaint. I then took my vehicle back another time and they finally fixed it by replacing the housing/ignition.
I continued to have some difficulty starting my car after a while, but had nowhere to go because Saturn had gone out of business. It has become nearly impossible to start my car and takes an average of five minutes to start my car each time.
I tried finally to obtain help from General Motors on July 1, 2011 when I went to a GM dealership for an oil change. This problem is so severe that a trained technician/mechanic had to find me in the waiting area to help me start my car as he could not turn my key. I obtained GM's customer service number at that time to try and get this issue resolved. I was told that due to the amount of miles on my vehicle, GM would not help me on this matter. Even though this part had been replaced by a GM dealership before, I was told that there was no warranty on the part. I then went online a few days later to find prices on this unit and maybe some help on how to fix this on my own. Along this search I found NUMEROUS complaints on this exact issue. I then called GM again and they refused to resolve this matter.

I have a 08 Saturn vue that has essentially been in the shop since January when the transmission locked up making it inoperable. Customer service has been horrible and the division specialist has been equally unhelpful. We have not been told what is wrong with the car, only that there are a lot of "issues" besides the transmission. It looks like we have a car that is under warranty, that the dealership can't seem to fix! We have no idea what is going on with the car or why no one will give any information.

I purchased a new Saturn Vue in 2007. This was my third Saturn and I had been very happy with my first two. Both of the first two cars had very few problems, none major. The first one was sold by my daughter at around 100,000 miles. It needed a new clutch at the time so she got next to nothing for it, but she was going away to college so she didn't care. It's hard to guess if we'd have gotten many more years out of it if we'd put in a new clutch.
The second car was totaled at 65,000 having had almost zero problems. I believe I had the ignition cylinder replaced under warranty, which is a common problem among Saturns (shame on Saturn/GM for not recalling or somehow addressing this ridiculous problem).
This car, the 2007 Vue, has been nothing but trouble from day one. Since I got it, the heating element in the seat malfunctioned and was replaced, the driver's side seatbelt malfunctioned and was replaced, the air conditioning/heating fan switching mechanism in the dash malfunctioned and the computer unit was replaced (this didn't completely solve the problem). Both front windows don't seem to stay closed completely (a lot of air noise develops which usually improves when the windows are rolled down and back up, the rubber seal looks fine. This was "adjusted" one time which actually seemed to help temporarily).
The most difficult problems have been multiple failures of the air conditioning, the hoses have been replaced 5 times. Once the compressor was also replaced and was named as the cause of the hose failure, but another hose failed within a year and, fortunately, was covered under parts warranty even though my bumper to bumper warranty had expired.
The other significant problem has been recurring problems with the shifter. It becomes increasingly "tight" and eventually will not shift into reverse without several tries and often a grinding sound. The shifter cables were adjusted once, have been replaced once, and are being replaced again. Although my bumper to bumper warranty has expired, this work is being done on the "factory warranty" which I think must mean that the parts are still under warranty from the previous replacement. Thank goodness, since they wanted $600 until they checked the computer and saw how recently the work had been done.
My ignition cylinder needs replaced again and I'm guessing I will pay for this one. Shame, shame, shame on GM. I am so disappointed with my 2007 Saturn Vue. I doubt I've listed everything I've had the car in for. It feels like I've had the car in the shop every few months for repairs, not just service, since I got it. I was shocked and sad when I heard about Saturn being dismantled since I so loved my first two cars, but now I'm glad. For whatever reason, based on my experience and what I've seen on the Internet, they were no longer producing a quality car anyway.
Although I'm not educated enough in big business and car manufacturing to know how much GM is complicit in the problems with the latest model of Saturns, I certainly hold them responsible for my 2007 Saturn Vue and expect them to respond to future problems. However, since my warranty is expired this is unlikely even if the company is at fault so I expect to dislike my 2007 Saturn Vue more and more over the next few years. I will be glad when the time comes for me to purchase a new car (not this year, unfortunately) and it will not be a GM car.

I purchased a new 2007 Saturn Vue (4cylinder) and almost within months, I started experiencing ignition problems. Key getting stuck in the ignition, and car not turning on because of ignition problems, being stranded for hours or days without a car because of ignition cylinder problems. Called Saturn Dealer and they acknowledged several complaints regarding ignition problems but "not enough" to do a recall to fix the problem.
I would have to pay for repair. I paid $230 to replace the ignition cylinder/labor because the dealer was going to charge me over $700 to fix it even though it was a defect obviously, and they were aware of the ignition problems. Called customer service only to be told it did not cover the ignition, and they will not recall the product.
Then on 04-13-11, my key would not come out of the ignition and the car engine was still on, with the radio still playing. Several hours later, no key would come out of the ignition. I also could not turn the engine off. Finally, after the battery wore down, I kept trying to get the key out and turn the engine off. It finally released the key but the ignition was still on,and radio still playing. I had to have my car towed to my mechanic, and I'm currently waiting for the total cost of fixing the same problem I had less than 1 and 1/2 months ago. I cannot believe Saturn/Chevy will not admit they need to recall these vehicles due to the ignition problems. It's ridiculous
I am a single mother of 3 daughters, and we have been stranded in a church parking lot for 3 hours, Wal-Mart for hours, out of town in Temple, Texas at a gas station for 4 hours, and my home residence for 7 hours, with the ignition not turning the car on and the key stuck in the ignition. It would not turn the ignition at all with 3 daughters in the car, during the blazing summers of Texas!
I cannot believe these problems with the ignition cylinder are not enough to do a recall for Saturn or Chevy who is now well aware of the problems but offers no help, instead, they charge $700-$800 to fix the problem that my mechanic does for $230. It is bad enough that it is a struggle for people to afford a new car much less get ripped off by Saturn / Chevy, with no solution to the problem than just keep fixing the ignition cylinder at our own cost!

The rear main engine seal is leaking. I only have 51,000 miles on the Saturn 2008 Vue that I own. I still owe Harris Bank for the car payment. Oil has leaked on my driveway. I still have a car payment and feel at 51,000, the car should not have a rear main engine seal leak.

Our Saturn VUE had been in several times and they replaced the torque converter. It broke down again same problem Torgue Converter. It broke down on the highway on Thanksgiving Eve. It's been towed to VA where it sits waiting on a torque converter. This dealer has been of no help whatsoever in resolving the issues and GM is dragging their feet.

A couple of years ago, our 2006 Saturn Vue airbag light began to activate, meaning that the airbag system was off. We took it into the local dealer and they kept it for about 10 days. A block from the dealer after picking it up, the light again activated. I turned around, returned it to the dealer. About 3 days later, they returned it to me. (It was fixed under warranty with free rental car.)
They related that the wiring for the airbags and seat heaters had issues, causing the airbag system to shut off. Now, two years later, my airbag light indicates that it is off most of the time. I can't afford to leave it with a GM dealer for two weeks while some other mechanics try and figure out what the problem is. Is this a secret warranty item with the Vue models?

My complaint is against GM as Saturn is no longer in business. I have a 2007 Saturn Vue. I started replacing front wheel bearings at 42,000 miles and I am now replacing my 4th one at 67,000 miles. I have driven many cars over 100,000 miles without ever having this problem. A quick google of this problem brings up many owners with the same experience. My cost so far is over $1,200 and there are no guarantees I won't need additional wheel bearings every 12,000 miles or so.

I purchased a used 2003 Saturn Vue in October 2008. My car was documented as having one owner previously. In November 2009, I took the car in to have the transmission rebuilt (a VTI transmission). Here it is August 2010 and I have to get the transmission rebuilt again. The only option I have been given is to turn my car over to GM and they will give me a $5,000 rebate. However, it can only be used to purchase a vehicle from GM (brand new, not used). I am a single parent and buying a $30,000-plus car is not possible. This is an injustice and shows GM's ability to take advantage of honest customers. I have recently learned that there are 100's of complaints like mine; how has a lawsuit or a recall not occurred? There are thousands of other complaints about Saturn cars' performance?

I think we purchased a lemon. We purchased a 2007 Saturn Vue from the dealership in Watertown, NY. in May of 2007. We know that the warranty is now gone and there is 43,000 miles on it, but in 3 years we have replaced 3 of the 4 wheel-barring and the 4th one is now going. We know Saturn is no more, but we thought we were purchasing a great product. In fact this is our 2nd Saturn Car. We purchased one of the first ones out and loved it.

I own a 2005 Saturn Vue. The check engine light came on, stayed on for a little while and then went off. This happened several times. I took it to a Saturn dealer to have it checked. I was told that it was my transmission. In November, 2009, I received a letter from Saturn stating that the 2005 Saturns had a faulty transmission. A special warranty was issued for this transmission. Even though the letter is dated Nov. 2009, I was told that the warranty expired in Oct. 2009. If I had received this notification sooner, I would have been able to get a new transmission for free. I believe this was done this way deliberately.
If Saturn had done a recall on this transmission, it would be replaced for free. Instead, they figured a way to save themselves a lot of money and ** the consumer. I was told that a new transmission would cost $6,000.00. It cannot be repaired. I would have to pay $3,000.00 and GM would pay $3,000.00 through a reimbursement program. I have only 30 days to decide. I do not have $6,000.00 to spend. I have no savings and no assets. I am on a fixed income and I have a disabled daughter that I must take care of.
I had to cancel two doctor's appointments for my daughter and myself. I was told that the car would just stop and we would be stuck. My car is our only means of transportation. I need it to pick up our medications and grocery shop. I have no one to do this for us. This car should have been recalled, but it was not. The consumer is ** again. I have the letter they sent me if you would like a copy. It is very ambiguous. It states, "do not take your car to a dealer if you are not having problems now," knowing that you will have problems eventually. Please contact me as soon as possible because my 30 days are running out. Thank you.

I have a 2006 Saturn Vue which I drive only 24 miles a day on my round trip to nearby work. One day last year, the ignition started sticking. The key would only turn part way, not even to the ACC line, and then stops. I can play with it, jiggle, remove, and try again about 10 or 15 times, and then eventually, it turns all the way and I can start the car. This continued for about a week. On some days, it was fine and on some days, it would stick. My boyfriend used graphite in the lock, thinking that would help, but I'm pretty sure it's done nothing at all. I tried the spare key, same thing happened.
One day, it was fine again and no trouble. I never took it to a dealer or mechanic for this. Now, the sticking has started again. It's been happening 4 days in a row, exactly as before. I'm low on gas right now and was actually afraid to stop at a local busy gas station on the way to work because I was worried I'd get stuck and irritate a customer who wanted to pull up behind me. I'll go to a less busy station later and see how it goes. I can jiggle the key in and out and up and down a fraction and try moving the steering wheel a little to make sure it's not locked up, and eventually, I can get the car to start, but there's no repeatable fix.
Except for this, I love the car. But now, that I've read here that it's happening to others, I'm thinking of trading it in. This is unacceptable, especially for those who are trying to turn the car off! I haven't had that situation yet.

I purchased a 2002 Saturn Vue 5 speed about one year ago. My ignition is locking up and will not turn on without jiggling the key and the steering wheel at the same time. My key will also come out while ignition is on and the key slid out while going down the street the other day.
I called a mechanic and I am planning on bringing my car in, next week, but I don't feel that I should be responsible for fixing this after reading all this info. This sounds like a recall to me. Also in January, I had to replace the ignition control module and two months ago I received a recall card in the mail regarding 7251 ignition control module and I called Saturn and was told I had to wait to receive a second letter in the mail to make sure my car was affected.
I tried to explain that I just had this issue and had changed the module already but the customer service rep insisted that I had to wait for the second letter. At this point, I am furious with the whole situation. I am a single parent and can not afford all of this to happen.

I have been trying to locate a part for a Saturn 08 Vue. It is a bumper bracket and I can't get any information as to when the part will be produced (1 week to a year, no one knows). They also won't give me a loaner car or pay for a rental and can't confirm any dates on when I can expect this part to be finished.

I took my 2003 Saturn Vue to a dealership when it stopped dead in its tracks: the transmission went out. It has 75,000 miles on it. The problem is, I had the car brand new--only 3 months when it needed its second transmission due to faulty construction, I suppose. It is now on its third transmission and it's on my dime: over $2,500 worth. This problem supposedly is covered under warranty until the 10,000 mile mark. Consequently, I have to do without a car for nearly 2 weeks, and have the added expense of the transmission repair, time lost from work and the cost of a rental car.

Our 2007 Saturn Vue had to be towed because we could not get the key to turn in the ignition. This is the third time, it will have to be repaired for this! Last year, when it was still under warranty, Saturn replaced something, so they say and here we are, a year later. Aside from the tow, it is going to cost us $250 for the repair. I have been stranded at places before when it seizes up and then eventually, it just wont turn (no matter how much we wiggle steering wheel etc). This should be recalled. Had it repaired 3 times.

Essentially, my 2007 Saturn Vue was purchased in February 2007 brand-new. I love the car! Then, the air conditioning started to not work. They stated that it was the Freon being low. It was refilled, and the air conditioning worked again. Suddenly, surprise, surprise, it didn't work again. There was a "slow leak" that they "fixed."
Then it happened again, and the valve for the Freon/hose needed to be replaced, which I had to wait to get ordered. And then right now, it still isn't working. Since the overtaking of General Motors, I am forced to pay a nonrefundable 85 dollar diagnostic fee, and the workers seemed as though they really do not want to fix the problem, rather than fix it right then. I feel like they are just searching for easy quick fixes to something that is still covered under a warranty and not fixing it for good.

My Saturn Vue 2005, which I bought new and absolutely loved up until now, is giving me problems. In the past few weeks, I have had trouble getting the key to turn; and it is getting worse. I take good care of my car and do all the maintenance work on time, every time, so I am a bit frustrated with the ignition that I can no longer count on.
This problem with the ignition, accordingly to the site I just read over thoroughly, confirms my suspicions that I'm not the only one with this problem. I don't know how much I will have to pay to repair this issue, but I feel that Saturn owes us the cost of repairs, or at the very least, partial reimbursement.

First time I took my 2003 Saturn Vue in, the front lights and the dashboard lights were blinking off and on, the evening before. Upon their review they told me Saturn had sent them a notice, not to replace the alternator for this problem. Of course the blinking did not happen, the service light was on they turned it off. One week later I had the same problem, only this time the horn went off by itself. I turned down the dash lights and the horn. Stopped. Again I took the car in they had it for two days and could not find the problem. They were nice enough not to charge me again. This is the only car I own, am retired and cannot afford to buy a new car again. What can be done to fix this problem, apparently the dealers don't know?

For the second time in 2 months I've had to pay to get my Saturn Vue fix because a "pin" broke in the gear shifting area of the engine. I love the Vue, but I don't like being stuck on the side of the road waiting for the tow truck. I've checked around to see if the 2005 Saturn Vue has been recalled at any time and I don't see anything about it. I'm not the first person to complain about this type of problem on the 2005 Saturn vue and I probably won't be the last. They need to recall these vehicles and fix the problem or take this vehicle off my hands and give me my money back because I'm a hard working single mother of 2 children and I cannot afford to fix this problem when it's clearly a problem that Saturn needs to fix!

Do not, repeat, do not buy a Saturn Vue! My Vue has been a trouble since the day I drove it off the lot. From the replacement of the rear differential to replacing the torque convertor, to replacing suspension bushings and ball joints, to a service engine light that has been on since the day I bought it, to $600+ problem it has now with the rear ball bearings. I am so done with GM! I am going back to my Honda vehicles, I must have been on drugs to ever sway from a good car. The guy at the Traverse City dealership told me yesterday, "sorry, you are having problems with your car. You know, most everyone that walks through our doors loves their cars, but it just takes that one bad apple/vehicle (meaning mine)".
I hate my car and cannot wait to get out from under it. If I knew how to make GM reimburse me for this piece of crap, I would do it. At this point, I'm waiting for them to send me my title so I can get rid of the lemon. Do not buy Saturn/GM!

I have a 2007 Saturn Vue, with 40,150 miles. The air-conditioning compressor clutch assembly came apart. The estimate repair cost is $1,150.00. The service mechanics stated they have never seen this happen before, but because I am 4 months and 4,000 miles over warranty there's nothing they can do about it. I can't even get them to get me a partial reduction in cost. What else can I do? AM I shafted as normal?

My 2003 Saturn Vue's transmission went out with 117,000 miles. I want to know my rights if any. I bought the car from a private owner when the car had 114,000 miles on it.

I bought a used 2003 Saturn Vue in '05 with 55,000 miles on it. The O2 sensors went out in '06 but I didn't have any other problems until paying it off. Around 133,000 miles, in Jan. 2010, I began experiencing transmission problems. I took the car to Saturn of Memphis and the diagnosis was a new tranny, O2 sensors and wheel bearings. I took the car home and began trying to price a new tranny cheaper than Saturn's $5,000. Searching pulled up a recall from 2004 on 2003 Vue for faulty tranny but was only eligible for replacement at GM's cost if you were the first owner. When I bought this car used in '05 from, a Saturn dealer it was never mentioned there was a recall for transmissions on the exact model I was buying and that because I bought used, they would no longer be accountable for the tranny going out. There was no option but to take the car to Saturn for repairs as every other repair shop could only buy the VTI transmission from Saturn.
At the end of Feb. 2010, I got my car back from Saturn. (I took it to another repair shop for the wheel bearings.) Today is May 21, 2010 and on my lunch break, my Vue shuddered. The RPM's revved up to 5, my speed was 40 and slowing as I approached a light that had just turned green, I was not pressing the gas. The reduced power light came on, service engine light too. I pulled over and turned off the car, sat for a minute and then tried again with the same result. I took the car straight to Saturn and they are going to call me later with the diagnosis. I have no idea what to expect as far as charges but based on other people's experience on here trying to get help with their 2nd, 3rd, 4th VTI transmissions is as many years, I am not holding my breath for a reasonable phone call.

We bought a 2003 Saturn Vue in Sept 09. It had about 55,000 miles on it at the time. It was purchased from a local used car dealer. Now, it is May 2010 and we have had it in the shop for two weeks waiting for GM to tell us that it needs a new tranny. In the course of our waiting, we found out that the transmission had been replaced in July of 2009, several months before we bought it. However, we did not know this at the time.
In late April 2010, the transmission began to act up. It would not shift into gear when put into drive. You could rev the engine but it would not move. So, we returned the car to a Saturn dealership to correctly diagnose the problems. Now, after waiting two weeks for GM to get back to us, today we found out that the car does need a new transmission and since we have put over 12,000 miles on the present transmission, GM will only pay half of the costs to replace the tranny. They estimate that the cost (our half) to us will be about $2,600! The car is only worth about $5,500 and we still owe $4,700 on it! We are both retired teachers and this car, we thought, would provide reliable transportation for us. Boy, were we wrong! Now, we are faced with making some big choices about whether to repair it or junk it, which is about all it is worth at this point.
GM, apparently, has had many problems like ours. But they give no real satisfaction to the consumers, who put their trust in the company and bought these cars. What recourse do we have? It is just us "little people" up against the big corporation. We are up the proverbial creek! I wish there could be a way for all us disgusted Saturn owners to come together and get some satisfaction from this company. Guess next time, I wont be so loyal to GM!
We have to pay half of the cost to replace another tranny in this car. It will be the third one in this car during the 77,000 miles of its existence! How many other makes of car have had this kind of problem? We are not rich people and replacing this transmission will be an extreme hardship on us.

I purchased my 2003 Saturn Vue in January 2009. In March 2010, that's when I noticed the coolant looking like chocolate milk. I thought the mechanics at the shop did something to my car. I went on the Internet only to discover that Saturn was going out of business. Why are these dealers allowed to sell these vehicles and all consumers that have ownership of these vehicles deserve a full refund. Is this covered by a third party extended warranty? It is not the customer's fault. Well, the oil has been leaking into my coolant and both of them leak. If I do not check, the low coolant comes on, and once I fill the reservoir, I can start the car again. I am driving on pins and needles. Who can I write or e-mail for my complaint?

Manual transmission shift cables just broke while driving down the road in rush hour traffic on a freeway overpass nearly hit twice while trying to get the car off the road. I had to have the car towed home (which luckily was only five miles) at a cost of $62.00. The repair, that's another issue. First the cables are extremely hard to locate, the installation and parts cost has yet to be finalized. But well over five hundred (estimate at this point), this is a known issue with the Saturn Vue all model years when the vehicle reaches between fifty and sixty thousand miles on the engine. My vehicle has 55,515 miles on it.
This is an issue that needs to be addressed by the manufacture as it is more and more apparent judging from the online reports that this should be considered under the lemon law as it is affecting this model by the same manufacturer.

I own a 2003 Saturn Vue with 78,500. Just this week, the car broke down; and it's the transmission. It cost $6,000 to replace the transmission at the dealership. This is more than the car is worth if I were to trade it in. The car is still in good condition, fully paid, and we don't have the money to fix it. What now? I heard there was a class action suit filed in California for transmission issues with Saturn Vue's 2002 to 2005 and how over 90,000 Vue and Ion owners had been part of this suit, due to the same issues with the VIT transmission. I want to know the outcome of this lawsuit.

I purchased a 2004 Saturn View from the Saturn dealer in 2006 with 22,000 miles on it. At no time was it mentioned that a recall letter was sent out in March of 2004 advising there was issues with the VTi transmission. Therefore, at the time that the car was sold to me the dealer was aware of a major defect on the transmission and it was not disclosed prior to the sale. I received a letter from the Saturn Dealer in November 2009 which again stated there was a problem with the VTi transmission and a recall but they would replace the transmission with a 50/50 split on the cost but if the car was not showing a sign of transmission problem do not bring it back to the dealer repair and mine was not, so I did not bring it for repair.
Now, the car had 109,000 miles on it and I was driving and it stopped in the middle of the street couldn't get the car to go forward or back. AAA towed it back to the Saturn dealer at my request and advised there was a recall on the VTi transmission and they are constantly in need of new transmissions. So I took my case to the Service Manager at the Saturn dealership after staying up almost 24 hours reading stories on Consumer Affairs, blogs, Google, Yahoo and I had a thick file of back up and off to the dealer I went to state my case.
At first, I was told there was nothing they could do. Then, I started spitting out facts and figures (thanks to all of the posts on Consumer affairs) and the Service Manager now advised he would work on it but a new transmission would be $5000 and he would see if he can get it covered on the 50/50 split ruling, so my cost would be $2500. Although this seemed very unfair in general with a recall all of these VTi transmissions should have been fixed for free.
Well, I still needed a car and $2500 was the only way I would get it so I confirmed okay to put in the new transmission. This story gets worse. I went to pick up my car and I was told before I came in that the bill would show that is was a new transmission cost of $5000 but they would notify the service clerk to only charge $2500 or my 50% of the cost. It seemed to be okay with me so I agreed. When I got to the dealer and looked at the bill it nowhere said that the transmission was "new" it just said transmission and no mention of a warranty on the bill either?
So I asked them to record new on the bill and the service person I was dealing with said, "I can't do that." So I asked, "Why not?" He then said, "Because it is not new, it is rebuilt. So I refused to pay for something that I was lied to about and now charged twice as much because remember my cost was 50% of the new transmission at a cost of $5000. Now I would be paying $2500 for the rebuilt transmission which 100% of the cost!
The service person advised that the Service Manager was not available for discussion, so I told him that I was not signing the bill and would come back when he was available because he is the person who falsely advised I would be getting a new transmission. This service person walked away and as he did he said with the use of profanity I am ** sick of this! And this was said to my embarrassment in front of my 70-year old Mom who I brought along at both visits as my witness. I was shocked that a "service" person would use such language! I am going back to the dealer to work with the Service "Manager" tomorrow but wanted to post this because no matter what nobody should ever be lied to or spoken to like this.
What ever happened, the customer is always right and to service the customer with respect?! We as tax payer bailed out a GM who in my opinion is a fraudulent company that has cheated the customers who bought Saturn Vues from 2002-2004. How is this fair or good customer relations? The commercial that the new GM took over the old GM is a false too because they are not honoring the replacement no charge on a recall of these VTi transmissions either!
Mr President, you bailed GM out with our tax dollars and there are about 90,000 Saturn customers all Paying to replaced a transmission that is on recall. What are you doing about that and the way we have been unfairly treated?! Why are Toyota customers being treated so much better with their recalls? PS. The dealer had my car for a week and refused to give me a loaner car, so I also had to pay for a rental car while waiting for the car to be repaired. This is a bad economy. I have been out of work twice in the past 3 years. I am working 2 jobs to keep my house out of foreclosure. Now I need to come up with $2500 to fix a transmission that was a recall. I can't afford a new car, so I am stuck paying for this. It will now go on a credit card with high interest and who knows how much it will really end up costing me?!

On 2/17/2010, I was involved in a three car accident. I was eastbound on I-64, doing 65 mph, when the man in front of me hit the woman in front of him without slowing down. It was 7:30 am, bumper to bumper rush hour traffic, and the only warning I had of the impending accident was him hitting her. I do not know if his brake lights did not work, or if he did not apply his brakes. I only know he hit her hard and I hit him. My 2007 Saturn Vue, which I had owned since it was brand new was totaled, and not a single air bag of mine deployed.
I was taken immediately to the hospital and later released that day. My injuries were not and are not life threatening, but I feel strongly that they would have been much less severe if the air bag would have deployed. I have had several electrical problems in the dash board, all of them, along with my regular maintenance's were handled at the same Saturn dealership. A few of my electrical problems, shorted out wiring to the lights in the heated seat switches, which required the entire dash board to be removed, including the steering wheel. Plus, the Onstar hard drive crashed, which I guess is quite rare. I also had several problems with my Onstar phone volume control, which is normally through the radio.
I told the dealership, and when I would have the problem, I would have to hit on the dashboard, and it would come back in. It was not in a certain place, just anywhere in the middle of the dash would get it to work. They wrote it up as bad communication in the satellite and I was just a woman. Plus, just last December (2009), most of my dash gauges quit working and bottomed out. I called the dealer, as I was quite worried about safety, and called Onstar, and did a little research online, as they could not get me in for two weeks. It seems they had laid off all but one mechanic, as they were getting ready to close their doors for good and were paring down to the bare minimum. My fuel gauge, speedometer, tachometer, temperature gauge and oil gauge all read to the far left, with no fluctuations at all.
Well, they assured me it was safe to drive that way, and after everyone had assured me, I did drive it that way. It was very strange, and one by one, the gauges came back, and I never did find out what caused it, as by the time two weeks was over, and my appointment came around, they did look at it but said they were unable to determine a cause and the computer was unable to come up with anything. To be honest, I think they just did not want to bother with me as they were closing the next day for good and just did not care. Anyway, all worked, so I let it go as I felt like I was trapped in a corner. The next thing I knew, I had this accident, and no air bag. Too many coincidences, and not enough answers. I wrote them, they did look at the car and even though the front end was broken, and substantial damage was done, it even broke the motor mount, there was nothing they could do. It was just an offset hit, and basically, too bad.

I originally purchased a used 2002 Saturn Vue. In retrospect, it had a transmission problem, which they fixed because it was under warranty. Subsequent to that, I was in an accident where I was hit broadside at supposedly 30 mph and my car was tuned on the driver's side. At that point, the car skidded and the only breakage of glass occurred at the drivers window. It resulted in my arm being dragged over the pavement through broken glass as the car skidded.
Unaware at the time, of what caused this, I purchased a replacement vehicle, a 2005 Saturn Vue with same features. In reviewing the previous accident photos and looking at the wrecked car, it was clear that the cause of the window breaking was the outside mirror, which folded back and was between the pavement and the glass. This would seem like a major flaw in manufacturing of a safe car.
Now, at miles, my 22005 Saturn Vue transmission (gear box) has failed. It began with being difficult to shift into reverse or gears 2 and 4. The forward gears worked. Now the whole thing has snapped and cannot be engaged at all. Additionally, I have problems periodically, disengaging the key from the ignition. It will lock it and it is difficult to remove. What is my recourse? I still owe $6000.00 on this lemon of a car!
Most recently, I have had to miss work for lack of transportation. I will be out a major sum, if I repair it at my expense. The 2002 Vue resulted in a hospitalization and surgery to repair my arm injury, which left a significant scar. I had to replace the car, should it turn over at such a low rate of speed on impact?

Saturn has informed me that they will cover a percentage of the cost, but my share is still nearly $1700. Who can afford to replace a 2 to 4 thousand dollar transmission every 20,000 miles? Transmissions should last longer than a year and a half. I cannot understand how Saturn has not placed a recall on these transmissions? Don't they care about reputation?
I am a full time student and a single mother and cannot afford to replace a transmission every year or so. I bought a Saturn because I was under the impression that they were reliable cars. I was wrong, and now I'm stuck paying a loan off for a car that is useless. Even if I could afford $2000 to replace the transmission, why would I pay that much for yet another transmission that will just go out in a year or so? At least that's what the last two have done. I for one will spread the word as much as I can about the unreliability of my Saturn and strongly discourage anyone to buy it so they won't be left in my situation. A car with 80,000 miles that has gone through 2 transmissions. GM should place more value on customer service. No one wants to buy cars from a dealer who is aware they are providing poor quality transmissions and simply doesn't care.

I purchased a 2008 Saturn Vue in May of 2008. I was a GM employee so I received the vehicle for the invoice price. My issue is now that Saturn is no more. I ran a blue book and my vehicle has depreciated over $12000. I am now stuck in this vehicle. I can't even trade it in. I would like to know what is going to be done for me. I want to trade my car in but do not feel it is right for me to have to lose 12000. I would like for Saturn to compensate me for the depreciation of my vehicle. Had I known that they were going out of business, I most likely would not have purchased one. The damage is $12000. My vehicle blue books for $12000 and I purchased it for $25000 which is what invoice was in '08.

My transmission light recently went on in the car. I brought it to a mechanic and he said it was the transmission. I had the car towed to Saturn of Fairfield and just received the call that I am responsible for half of the repair costs ($2,600). I don't think so, since they knew these cars had faulty transmissions. I still have the car up at the shop in Fairfield.

I purchased a 2008 Saturn Vue on November 28, 2008 from Saturn of Elmhurst in Elmhurst, IL. The vehicle had 312 miles on it and I was the first consumer to purchase and title the vehicle. It had previously been on the showroom floor at the Saturn of Schaumburg in Schaumburg, IL. On December 2, 2008, four days after I purchased the vehicle, it was already in for its first repair. The vehicle would not start and was brought to Saturn of Elmhurst for repairs.
The dealership said the battery was the problem. They replaced the battery and the vehicle was released back to me. A few days later the vehicle again would not start, and it was towed to the dealership again for repairs. Once again the dealership replaced the battery and released the vehicle back to me.A couple of weeks later the vehicle again failed to start. It was towed to the same dealership and, with pressure from me and my husband, the dealership looked deeper into the problem rather than just replacing the battery again. The dealership ended up replacing the starter motor and the battery.
They released the vehicle back to me. At first, this seemed to have fixed the problem but once again on October 30, 2009 the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to Saturn of Naperville this time because Saturn of Elmhurst was no longer in business. Saturn of Naperville tried to tell me that it was the battery at first, so I had to run through all of the issues that had happened with this vehicle and explain to them that it was not the battery. Saturn of Naperville had my vehicle from October 30, 2009 until December 9, 2009. They replaced several parts including the battery, alternator, cluster, computer module, etc. While my vehicle was being serviced at Saturn of Naperville, I filed a lemon law claim with the Better Business Bureau's (BBB) Auto Line program. A customer service representative at Saturn Corporation advised me how to do this. Once the claim was filed I was in contact with William C. from the BBB and Morgane (last name unknown) from General Motors (GM).
I had a conference call with the two representatives from the BBB and General Motors in which Mr. C. had no idea what my case involved and followed everything that Morgane from GM said. At first, Mr. C. said that my car would be considered a lemon under Illinois law. Morgane said that GM had found it not to be a lemon. Mr. C. then said that she was right, and it was not a lemon because it had not been in for service four times for the same problem. Both Morgane and I had to correct Mr. C. and let him know that it had been in for the same thing four times. It was actually still in the service department for the fourth time. Morgane told Mr. C. and I that GM did not believe the vehicle was a lemon because the bill of sale was marked "used" when it was sold to me. Mr. C. then agreed with Morgane and said the vehicle was not a lemon because the bill of sale was marked "used".
Mr. C. then said that any offer GM gave me was good will from them because the BBB was ruling the car was not a lemon. Morgane from GM then said that her company wanted to make the situation right and apologized for all I had gone through with the vehicle. She offered me an extended warranty on the vehicle and one month's car payment. I told her that I was not planning on keeping the vehicle because I could not trust that it would ever start, so an extended warranty would do me no good. She then said that she would put together another offer and get back to me with it. We ended the conference call.
Mr. C. continued to keep the case open and waited for a settlement between me and GM. Morgane called me back with another offer. She said GM would give me three car payments for my troubles. I decided to consult my husband and my lawyer before accepting any offers as I was not too pleased with this offer. I had wanted GM to replace my vehicle or buy it back from me. My lawyer believed that my car was a lemon under the law. He said that my vehicle was never sold or titled to a consumer before me; therefore, it would not be considered a used vehicle when I purchased it. He contacted Mr. C. from the BBB to discuss this with him and try to get him to re-review the case. Mr. C. was not helpful and would not re-review the claim.
My vehicle was released to me from Saturn of Naperville after its fourth repair attempt. As I was driving home I realized that I no longer had a digital compass in my instrument panel. I immediately called the dealership to see why it was not there. The representative I spoke with told me that the software that was on my vehicle was incorrect, that the compass should never have been there, and that they removed the software and reinstalled the correct software. I asked him if there was anything else I should know about what will no longer be on my vehicle.
He said that the compass is probably the only noticeable thing and "at least I have a car that starts". I told Morgane from GM about all of this. I was obviously upset that the vehicle was sold to me in the first place with software that was corrupting the entire vehicle and that the dealership took features out of my vehicle without telling me in order to repair it. She apologized again and said that she would put together another offer and get back to me.
I contacted Morgane from GM to get an update on their third offer, and she said that because my lawyer was talking to the BBB on my behalf, she would also have to talk to my lawyer instead of me. My lawyer tried to contact Morgane at GM on several occasions. He left messages and got no response. When he finally got in contact with her she told him that the BBB has closed my case, and that GM was no longer going to offer me any settlement. My lawyer told her that the BBB has not closed the case, and he called Mr. C. to confirm this. Morgane said that she would have to confirm that with Mr. C. and the BBB and get back to my lawyer.
After a few days my lawyer had heard nothing from her, so he called her again and again with no response. When he finally got in touch with her again she said that she no longer had the authority to make any offers. She gave him a number to contact someone else who he could explain the situation to. When my lawyer called this other number it ended up being the General Motors general customer assistance division.
The representatives there have been transferring him to the Saturn customer assistance division where he has tried to explain the situation to two different representatives with no response back. I am ready to file a lawsuit against General Motors. I tried my very hardest to settle this matter in other ways and give GM the opportunity to make it right with their customer. I have no options left. I was without my vehicle that I was paying for a significant amount of time. Features that were on my vehicle at the time of purchase have since been removed by the dealership. I was unable to work on multiple occasions because my vehicle would not start.

Let me start by saying that I am a very unsatisfied customer and I cannot believe the way GM deals with its customers. I think they need to review their policies that are posted right on GM website. In February of 2008, I purchased a new 2008 Saturn VUE XR loaded. To this day I have not been happy with the Saturn Vue or the service that I have received! In April of 2008 I had to have my OnStar fixed because the battery was not working. In January of 2009, the vehicle shut down for no reason while I was driving down the highway going a 100 km/hr and I was told I had to take it in to get it looked at which is 2.5 hours away from my home. I was told that GM does not have loaner vehicles for Saturns.
I was misled by the salesperson, but I guess that is my fault for not checking into it further. Not only was I without a vehicle for 5 days before I could inconvenience someone to drive me to pick up my vehicle and miss a day of work. They told me that the sensors get moisture on them and freeze up and the vehicle shuts off. I was told that there is nothing that they could do about this. This is very unsafe when we live in Alberta and have terrible roads and your vehicle just shuts down while you are driving! Also at this time there was a recall about the power steering and I had to take another day off of work to get this fixed.
At the beginning of October I had my vehicle in at my local mechanic for 5000KM check up and oil change and he informed me that there was a leak in the transmission and a crack in the strut. My mechanic informed me that this vehicle was not safe to drive. On Friday, October 23 when I could finally get my vehicle into a Saturn dealer to get this fixed and when I called I asked if they had all the parts for warranty work and I was told that they did, so I would not have to make more than one trip and miss more work. When I took my vehicle to the dealership, I was informed by the dealership that not only was there problems with my transmission and strut but that the transaxle converter seal had to be replaced, the transfer case had to be replaced, the front stabilizer shaft had to be replaced and there is also a problem with the torque convertor.
They informed me that they did not have the parts and would have to order it out of the States and they would need my vehicle for 4 days. When I inquired about a loaner vehicle because I live 2.5 hours away and this is my only vehicle they told me that they do not have loaner vehicles. Not only was I out of a vehicle for that long, but I also missed work for those days because I had no way of getting there. I also yet again had to inconvenience someone else to drive to pick me up and bring me home and then yet again to pick up my vehicle.
On October 27, I mailed a complaint letter to GM and by November 19 I had not heard anything from GM in regards to my complaints. I called the customer service line and Francoise opened a case file for me. I called Gary Moe Saturn to see if my parts had arrived there and they informed me they had been in for a bit and someone should have called but it must have been overlooked. I then received a call from Gary Moe Saturn from someone else on November 20 to inform me that my parts had just arrived. I told her I had already talked to someone else yesterday and they had informed me that they were there for some time. On November 21 at 11:00 A.M., I called Roadside to tow the Vue to Gary Moe Saturn and to also call Gary Moe and let them know that the vehicle would now not start. It was running the day before as I had to move it in my yard so I could plow snow.
Roadside informed me that they would have to tow it to Denwood Motors in Wainwright, Alberta. I asked if it could be put throw to Management to have the vehicle towed to Gary Moe Saturn as they had the parts to do the warranty work and I was not waiting another month to have my vehicle diagnosed and parts ordered in. I called Gary Moe and they said if Denwood's did get the vehicle they would have to diagnose the problem and order the parts themselves. I decided to call Denwoods and when I talked to the Service Department they told me they were not qualified to work on a Saturn. At 11:40, I called Francoise to give her an update and she was going to talk to Roadside. Roadside finally towed the vehicle on November 22 to Gary Moe Saturn for me. I had talked to Doris and it was Lori who dispatched the call.
On November 23, I called Francoise at 7:30 am and left her a message to let her know that the vehicle was towed the day before. I called her again at 12:21 for an update but again there was no answer so I left her another message. She returned my phone call at 12:32 and she was going to contact Gary Moe for an update and she would get back to me in the next hour. I called Gary Moe myself at 12:44 and they said that they could not get the vehicle started and someone would get back to me. I had not heard anything yet from Francoise at 4:07 so I called her and again there was no answer so I left her another message. On November 25, Gary Moe called me and informed me that my vehicle was complete with the warranty work and they just had to boost the battery to get it going but everything is good. Francoise phoned me and said they were closing my file.
I told her I wanted compensation for everything I had lost without having a vehicle and she informed me that all that GM would do for me is give me a $100 fuel card. I knew that if I took that fuel card it would be considered a settlement and I told her that I would not accept the fuel card. On November 30, my dad and uncle were going to Red Deer and they offered to pick up my vehicle for me. When my dad arrived at Gary Moe they had to boost the Vue to even get it going. Why they would let a vehicle go with having to boost it when that was one of the issues in the first place is beyond me; but they informed my dad that everything would be fine. My dad stopped at my uncle's house at Castor for a bit and when he went to leave, the vehicle would not start again. They tried to boost it but it would not start. I tried to call Francoise and could not reach her after leaving numerous messages.
On December 3, I was fed up with not hearing back from Francoise so I called GM Customer Service at 9:06 and spoke to Anelise. She informed me that Francoise was no longer with the company. I tried to get her up to speed of what was going on with my vehicle while Francoise was covering the case. I then informed her that the dealership let the vehicle go with a bad battery and that I would be calling Roadside again to get it towed. I called Roadside at 9:39 and talked to Sue, she said they would have to tow it to Stettler GM as that was the closest GM dealer, yet again I had to inform her they were not able to do work on a Saturn even though it was a GM product and it would have to be towed back to Red Deer to Gary Moe Saturn.
Sue told me that she would have to check with Management and get back to me. At 11:00 Brigley's Towing called and informed me that they got a call to tow my vehicle to Red Deer and they would not be able to do this till sometime that afternoon. I called Anelise back to update her and there was no answer so I left her a message. Finally on December 8, Anelise returned my call so I brought her up to speed. I received a call that afternoon from Gary Moe and they said they could not reproduce the problem but want to keep the vehicle until they do.
On December 9 at 9:30, Anelise called and left me a message stating that they were going to close the file. At 10:17 I called Gary Moe and they said that the Vue would not start and they were now trying to figure out why. I returned Anelise's call at 10:45 and of course there was no answer so I left her a message stating that I did not want this file closed until my Vue was properly fixed. I called Anelise again at 2:16 as I wanted to make sure she was not closing my file and again there was no answer so I left her another message. I called again at 2:45 and got her voice mail again. I did not leave a message this time. On December 10 by 1:09 I still had not heard back from Anelise so I attempted to call her again.
Again I only got her voice message. I was getting very frustrated with her not returning my calls. I called Customer Service Line at 1:38 and talked to Jody she put me right through to Anelise. Anelise informed me that Francoise was back working at GM and she would be taking my case over and would be in contact with me later that day. I called Erin at 1:55 and he informed me they changed out the battery and would test it for a few days to make sure that was the problem. By December 15 I still had not heard back from anyone at GM so I called Francoise at 10:00 she said she wanted to talk to Erin at Gary Moe and would get back to me in 2 days. I also asked her what GM was going to do to compensate me for everything yet again. My mom was in Red Deer that day for a course and she picked up the Vue for me.
On December 17 Francoise called at 8:18 am and informed me what I already knew about how the battery was replaced. She informed me that GM would not compensate me in anyway but the $100 fuel card was still there if I wanted it and they were sorry for the inconvenience and grief it cost me. I was able to pick my vehicle up from my Mom's house on December 18. On January 7 at 10:24 while I was driving down the highway at 110 km/hr my vehicle just shut off by itself. I had no power steering or anything. Fortunately I was able to make it somewhat to the side of the road. My vehicle would not start again. I called someone I knew to come and try and boost my vehicle. When he got there he tried to boost the vehicle but it would not start. I had to get a ride to Consort to my appointment and he had to leave work to do this for me.
I called Roadside to come and tow my vehicle again. They informed me that it would be towed to Wainwright to Denwood Motors because they were now able to do warranty work on Saturn products. I knew this because I received a letter in the mail stating that any GM dealer would now be able to do warranty work. They sent Brigley's at 1 pm to tow the vehicle but they informed me that they would not be able to take it to Wainwright till the following day. I had to get my Mom who lives over an hour from my house in Consort to drive me home. I called Francoise at 2:41 and left her a message regarding what happened again and to please give me a call back.
On January 8 I talked to Denwood Motor's at 2:35, they informed me that they still could not work on Saturn's as far as they knew so I read them the letter I got from GM they said they would look into it and they were always the last to know. Denwoods also informed me that the soonest they could look at my vehicle was January 14. Yet again I was without a vehicle again. I called Francoise at 2:57 and there was no answer so I left her another message. Finally on January 11 at 4:15 Francoise returned my call and I updated her. She informed me that she wanted to talk to Denwoods and would get back to me first thing in the morning. On Jan 12 at 4:20, I sent an email to GM Sr Management and have not heard anything back from them. On Jan. 16, I got my vehicle back from Denwood Motors in Wainwright, AB. Chris sent in a letter to GM about the problem.
There is no fix at this time and he also let his district sales manager know all the problems this vehicle is having. Apparently water gets up in the snorkel/baffle and air filter and the vehicle just shuts off. He also informed me that this same issue is happening with the GM Acadia models and that it will keep happening with my Saturn. By Jan. 18 I had still not heard back from Francoise so I desided to call her. She informed me that she was going to call the district sales manager and see what they are going to do about this problem and get back to me ASAP.
On Jan. 21 at 5:50 Francoise called and informed me that GM is considering the problem with the vehicle as an environmental issue, not a vehicle problem and is not going to do anything about it. GM offered me $1500 off a new vehicle if I wished to trade it in. The problems that I have had with GM why would I want to trade it in on another one? The one problem is not only happening to my vehicle but other vehicles out there on the road. What is it going to take for GM to see that my vehicle is a lemon and they need to buy it back. Do I and my unborn child, my family or someone else have to die before GM does something about this issue? I do not even feel right about trading this vehicle in on another one as I would feel absolutely sick if something happened to someone else because of this vehicle!
I am really glad that I spent almost $50,000 on a new vehicle that I thought would be reliable which is farther from the truth and really have not had a vehicle that I can trust at all. Who is going to reimburse me for all this expense incurred for a vehicle that only has 40,000 km on it? Since I have had all the problems with this vehicle I have lost my job plus over $5000 in previous wages, plus over $600 in fuel driving for warranty work, plus 3 meals a day because I will be on the road all day just to get me to the dealership to get this fixed, plus all my vehicle payments for a vehicle that I have not been able to use? To this date I am lucky that I have not been in an accident with this vehicle but like I stated before am I going to have to get seriously injured in this vehicle or die before GM does something about it?

I brought 2004 Saturn Vue in for timing belt replacement and oil change. It was estimated to be about $800. I asked for them to check issues with water pump. I told them to call me if there was evidence that it needed work and an estimate. I told them that if it needed replacing, I wanted to get it done at the same time. I was informed that timing belt work was done and to call back for an estimate on the water pump.
I was then told that to replace the water pump, it would be about an additional $1130. I reminded them of my request for estimate before they put it back together. I asked to speak to the service advisor manager. There was no service manager. I went over all charges. I was told the car was not put together, then that changes and then it started to get really confusing.
I called the office manager. He looked into the matter, called me back, and asked what would please me. I asked for a few minutes and to call him back with a proposal to pay for new parts and not labor again. He informed me that the car was ready with the timing belt replaced and the oil change. And his general manager Lori said, "That's it. If you want to replace the water pump and associated parts (about $588 quoted), you would have to pay for the parts and labor again. That's all we are going to do." I told them I would then report this to corporate and they said fine.

In May 2008, I was driving over a bridge and my car just changed gears and the speed decrease on it own. The car refused to pick up speed while driving up the bridge. The next day I took the car to the Saturn dealership to be checked out. The guy in the service department stated nothing was wrong with the car. The same thing happened again a couple of weeks later. Again, I brought it to the dealership and was told there was nothing wrong. At this point I am scared to drive my car so I only drive when necessary.
On October 2009 my car refused to go more than 20 mph. I was unable to bring it to the dealership I went to before because they were no longer in operation. In November 2009, I received a letter in the mail stating Saturn is aware of their faulty transmission and they are will to pay for repairs. But when I brought my car in for the repairs, I was told I do not qualify because my car's mileage is over 100,000. I have tried to explain to them over and over and over again that I reported the transmission problem before my car was at the 100,000 limited. I received a nice, polite, "We can not help you." How am I going to pay to replace a transmission, which is $5K on top of paying for the car note because I am not finish paying for the car? I am paying someone to bring me to work every morning or borrowing a car to get to work.

While driving to work in my 2002 Saturn Vue, my timing chain snapped. After researching on the internet, I found so many other examples of the same thing happened with this particular engine. Faulty timing chain. I read an article on consumeraffairs.com about so many similar problems. The car only had 90K miles on it, $4000 to repair. Where am I to get that kind of money?

I purchased a 2003 Vue. What a piece of junk. I am glad they are out of business and GM should be the next to go. I will never buy American again. Key locked in ignition, I replaced cylinder three times, and the intake gasket went, but since I can't replace just the gasket only, I had to buy $1000 for an assembly. Other problems are the gas gauge stopped working, the door gaskets leak air making it very noisy, the door panel broke loose and wedges door open, so I had to break the panel, and now security doesn't work, etc.

Bought a 2004 Saturn Vue Sept. 15, 2004. Had nothing but problems. Between noises, squeeks, rolling backwards on hills, rotors, and more. Every time I brought the car in they would say nothing wrong. They would say drive the car and see if you still hear or feel it. Like I had nothing better to do than travel 1 and half hours each way to bring the car back for the same problem I brought it for the first time. Oh, they were very nice alright, a little to nice. Like they were trying to con me.
Well, after having the rotors changes, twice, somekinda linkage thing done, something with the transmission done, my car is totally dead. After my warranty expired I just kept taking it to regular mechanics. Well the transmission finally went. Saturn sent a letter out telling me if my warranty expired they would cover 50% of the fix and I would be responsible for the other half. Unfortunaltly, can't afford it and don't think I should have to pay a penny for something Saturn and GM knew. They knew that the car was not good, and that the VTI transmission would fail. There should have been a recall on all the cars with VTI's in them. I ended up hiring a lawyer from lemon law, and he's getting me the same deal I was already offered from Saturn. So where's the justice.

I had timing chain failure in my 2002 Saturn VUE. The engine only has 72,000 miles on it. Thousands of dollars in unneeded costs at shops to try to figure out the problem.

I have a 2008 Saturn Vue. The defroster stopped working so I took it to what is left of the local Saturn dealer. They determined that the heater core needed replacing as it is cracked and leaking coolant. They ordered the part and I had to call a week later to find out if the part had come in. It did, so I tried to schedule an appointment and was told that they are down to 2 technicians and it would be another week before they could get me in. Due to the coolant leaking, it is apparently dripping on the hot engine parts and it then creates a greasy smoke, which comes up through my vents. I have to drive with my windows open and it is now around 35 degrees here in NY. I am breathing in this smoke and it also covers my windshield creating a greasy film, which I cannot see out of. I have been driving with a towel and have to keep wiping the windshield so that I can see -- not to mention the smoke I am breathing in and taking a chance on the engine freezing due to leaking antifreeze. I called Saturn Customer Care, and got no where. All GM dealers in my area are not authorized by GM to complete warrantee work yet, which means I have to wait for the local Saturn dealer to squeeze me in... General Motors cares nothing about its customers.

My car has 157,000 miles on it. It makes me sick to think that Saturn ADMITS to a problem but offers little to help the customer who trusted them to pay good money for their vehicles. I am going to try and contact corporate on Monday for some resolution as I have never had a transmission problem with a car. The Saturn dealer would like to charge me $6,000 for a new transmission. Merry Christmas...to them.

My 2005 cyl Saturn Vue already needed to have a new transmission and it is only at 64,000 miles. Why was there not a recall on this? Others on line have said this also. It is a Honda engine and it was 2300.00 to replace. Why? I feel Saturn needs to step up and say why they used an inferior transmission on this model vehicle.

We bought a used 2004 Saturn Vue with 24,000 miles. At 59,000 we had to have the transmission replaced. We conacted general motors about cost assistance and they paid 75% which left us with a $1200 bill. My husband went after work with a check to pick up the car when it was ready. This dealership actually held him there for 3 hours and wouldnt give him his keys until they drove to our bank to cash the check and get a cashiers check. This was after they called my bank and verified funds were available. At no time did they ever tell us a preferred method of payment.
When my husband asked them what was taking so long the service mgr told my husband that he was lucky they were doing that for us cause he could have given him the check back and sent him on his way. Really? Who treats people like that? They also would not give us an itemized receipt so I really don't know if I got ripped off or not. They told us since they had to charge GM for 75% of it and us 25% that they had to put it all on one line. Sounds a little fishy to me.
I called GM again to complain about the service we received and they basically told us they had no control over what the dealership does. 3 months after the transmission ordeal I find us right back up at Saturn of Gainesville with a broke down car. Now they tell us it's going to be $80 for them to even look at it. They call my husband later on and tell him that they can't pop the hood so they are going to have to charge us $120 to get it open..What? $200 before you even start? That's a little ridiculous. Especially since the last time that hood was open was when they did the transmission job. They tell us we need a coil pack and an engine control module.
I call GM again to see if we can get some cost assistance since this was an unusual thing to fail and the vehicle at this point only has 66,000 miles on it. The people at GM gave us false hope and said wow that is an unusual problem and the car does have low miles let us see what we can do. They call back and say sorry we can't help you cause it's out of warranty. Ok well they knew when when we started the conversation so why even entertain the idea?
Long story short I end up paying the entire amount...almost $500. Oh yeah and right before the transmission we had a cracked oil pan...$800. That bring the grand total out of pocket to $2500 for a car that has 66,000 miles on it. Bottom line Saturn and GM don't care about their customers. They care only enough to cover your 36,000 mile warranty.

Bought my 2007 Saturn Vue in July 2007. I noticed clutch problems when shifting, my car would chatter. I kept taking my Vue back for repairs, but the dealership in Anaheim and Santa Ana, CA could not figure out the problem or fix it and of course they both shut down. Then I ended up taking it to Irvine, CA dealership. My husband told what he thought the problem was and they looked into it and found that what we have been saying was the problem. Keep in mind, my car problems have been under warrenty at this time.
During June 2008 my air compressor for my air conditioning went out. Took the car in and Saturn of Henderson, NV had to replace the whole unit. Now that I have had the whole clutch issue taken care of after 2years, under warrenty, the dealership had to do a GoodWill on my clutch to repair. Why, they did this we still do not understand. Now 2009 my air compressor went out again, and Saturn Customer Care Center will not take care of my car, due to it is now out of Warrenty and I already had a Good Will on it with my clutch. So now I have an air compressor that has been going out for the year of 2008 &2009. My Vue only has 43K miles.. it should be like a new car, not a lemon. Saturn Customer Care will not take care of any of this or correct the mistake of the Good will on my clutch issue, which should have been under warrenty.Saturns has not been helpful or accomadating at all with my Saturn Vue. Will neve buy a Saturn or GM product again. NOw I am stuck with the lemon. Just want either my car taken care of or have Saturn take my car and take care of the loan I have with them.

I am the owner of a 2008 Saturn Vue which I purchased in August of 2008. My vehicle has 13,788 miles on it and should be covered under the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. On Friday afternoon, October 16, I experienced a burning smell and smoke coming from my front end. I was very close to home and returned to the house. My local dealership has been closed so I called your customer service department to find out what to do about getting warranty service. My initial contact was with Maria. She advised me that I need to have the vehicle serviced at the nearest Saturn dealership located in Green Brook, NJ. This location is 16 miles from my home but as usual in New Jersey it is over 1/2 hour from here.
Maria called this dealership and was told that they only have 3 people working in service and would not be able to look at my car until Monday or Tuesday. Given that fact, they would not be able to supply a loaner or authorize a rental because they cannot confirm that it is actually a warranty repair (here I question bumper to bumper). They also confirmed with her that being familiar with my vehicle type, I should absolutely not drive the car (no kidding). I can't help but wonder if they are not familiar with the particular problem and perhaps should be able to confirm without looking that this is a warranty issue.
I am in quite a bind without a car until Monday or Tuesday. At that point, she suggested that I call the dealership and I contact Roadside Assistance to make the appropriate arrangements. I explained that I felt it was not my responsibility to do my own customer service and asked Maria if one of the many GM dealerships located here in North Brunswick could service my car. She told me that she would work on the problem and call me between 6 and 8 pm EST.
At 8:15 pm I called Maria back. She told me that she knew she had to call someone back and couldn't remember who. With that statement I felt comfortable that she did absolutely nothing and that it was 8:15 on Friday so not much was going to happen. She did confirm that no one but Saturn could service my car, that no one from the dealership called her back and they were close. She said that all she could do was arrange to have the car picked up and towed. If I wanted to I could rent through Enterprise at no more than $42.00/day and Saturn will reimburse me.
I requested to speak to a supervisor, Amanda P. Amanda explained to me that the warranty does not state that a courtesy vehicle would be provided immediately. Now, let me just say that I find that ridiculous. When might I want the vehicle? Perhaps in two weeks? Maybe, next time I'm on vacation? I advised Amanda to make sure that car was removed from my driveway this morning between 8:30 and 9:30 as I would not be available at any other time. Fortunately, a very nice man came at 9:15 and took the car.
This morning, I spoke to Carl in the service department at Green Brook Saturn. He told me he has no loaners and won't until maybe Monday or Tuesday. He also said that he would try to look at my car today but may not be able to and until he does, he cannot authorize a vehicle. He has since called me back for my information and details of the complaint and is writing up the ticket to see when they can get to it. At least I feel like he is trying to help.

i bought a saturn vue last year from a small dealer i drove it for 6months then transmission went out and now it will cost more than the cars value it sick dont ever buy a saturn ever they should make it right by fixing this problem or at least give the parts away free the cunsumer is willing to put it in !!!!

After about 75000 miles the rear seal of my Saturn Vue V6 started leaking. That was a very $$$$ repair as the engine & transmission had to be dropped. No factory warrenty here. Rught after that the bracket of the rearview mirror simply broke. I had to get a whole new mirror as the bracket was not sold indepently- that was a $300+ repair.
Had to put repairs on a credit card at 25% interest. By the time I pay them off it will have cost me over $4000! Would you care to wonder what GM product I will not buy next- ALL OF THEM!

I find this "software" problem worrisome. If I crashed (and I have) I would have no way to get out of the car if the electric door lock is disabled by the crash.
Upon initially contacting the dealership ( and every few weeks since), I have been told GM is aware of this software problem since April 2009, but no solution is at hand.
My 2005 had no such problem, why not create a "patch" using previous software? What does it take to fix this "glitch"?
Whereas I previously felt quite safe in my 2005, I don't feel that in the 2009.

My husband and I purchased a 2005 Saturn Vue new. We have taken to the same Saturn dealership for every kind of maintence. At 44,000 miles the transmission failed, luckily we were just leaving somewhere and not driving down the highway. It was replaced under warranty at no cost to us. Since then the catalytic converter and gas gap were also replaced under warranty, and a bearing in the front end which we paid $150.Now the transmission has completely failed for a second time at 84,000 miles. Only 40,000 on the transmission and it died. We had to get it towed to Saturn, luckily I was just leaving work and not driving again.
When we went to Saturn I was in tears because at the last tranny replacement they said it was covered until 75000 miles, so I knew it wasn't going to be covered, however just 6 days before our Vue tranny dropped for the second time the mechanics informed us Saturn has extended the warranty to 125,000 miles only for the original owners. This is a huge relief yet so aggrevating. Saturn knows the transmission is junk, and they keep putting the same faulty transmission back in. This transmission was completely recalled in Canada.
Why has nothing been done here? This is incredibly dangerous, you can be driving down the highway and all of a sudden you stop, the vehicle cannot move. Saturn acts like this is not a big deal, it is a huge cost to us the consumer. We owe $5000 on our loan for the Vue, this is the second transmission, at a cost of $5000. After reading about the saturn Vti, it seems we were lucky to get 40,000 miles per transmission. This is outrageous that Saturn can get away with this problem. I am scared to drive my Vue and scared for the next time the tranny fails that the extended warranty will be expired, this is our only vehicle, and alot of dealerships will not even take it as a trade because of all the Vti problems.
We are stuck paying off our Vue, and wondering when we are going to be left stopped on the road again. I always bragged about my Saturn, however GM really needs to step up and take care of saturn owners. Why are they able to get billions in government money, yet leave the consumers with such a bad and unsafe transmission. Saturn Vti vehicles need to be recalled before there is loss of life because one fails on the highway and causes a chain reaction crash. Safety should be a huge concern, instead this Vti transmission nightmare is being kept in the dark.

when i called to make an appointment the mechanic i spoke to was very rude.i try to explain that i had a knocking in my car and i would need an appointment for the next day i explain to him that my wife drives this vechile and need it for work .he than inturn told me that he only had two men. i have a warranty on car . saturn vue 2008.he than told me do whatever i want with it he only have a friday appointmet mind you today is monday. where he told me to take it was miles away from where i live.i could have a bad accident bringing the car far away .why did i take out a warrenty if i cant use it ?

I bought a brand new, top of the line, 2003 Vue, took care of it, loved it, fed it, watered it, forked out thousands of dollars to dear ole Saturn because of intermittent problems that could not be duplicated in the shop.
In Sept of 2008, on a road trip back to LA after evacuating from Hurricane Gustav, the engine blew! Only 5 yrs old!I was roped over the barrel by the Saturn gods into buying another NEW Saturn, (their way of helping me was to give me a certificate good only on a NEW SATURN).
This time, I opted for bottom of the line Saturn Vue.Well, my friend, needless-to-say, that piece of crap has been in and out of the shop on an average of ONCE A MONTH since I bought it with guess what... intermittent problems that cannot be duplicated in the shop!... It was the door handle on the passenger side...the door APPEARED to be closed, but after I would drive & turn the corner, the door would come open!!!
After taking it back to the shop for the 3rd time because of this problem I demanded my money back because I had only had the damn thing for 3 weeks!...Well, they got off their ass & told me not to worry they were going to just replace the door handle...but they were all FAULTY and I had to ***** and complain before they finally replaced all 4.
Then, the driver-side seat stopped sliding back and forth!
I had to take it to the shop 3 different times before they finally just had to replace the seat!
Now it is the AIR CONDITIONER!
The AC went out in it when I was on a road trip from South Carolina to Louisiana back in May 2009.
I took it back to the shop where they kept it for 3-4 days.
The so-called mechanics took turns calling me...one would say, "We cannot find the problm, you can come and get your Vue"...10 minutes later, another one would call and say , "We are going to keep it another day"...
Finally, I was told they found a valve sticking, they made some repairs & "set it back to factory setting"...( how did it get off of factory settings?)
By the time I went to pick it up, their paperwork stated NO REPAIRS WERE MADE, COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM!!!
Then, coming back again from South Carolina in July, the AC went out again!!!The repair shop at Saturn of Baton Rouge had my car from July 16, thru August 12th without so much as a phone call to me with what was going on with it.
The last service invoice was incorrect...had the wrong milage and they had to pen & ink some changes & said they were going to fix the invoice & send it to me...they never did!Now everytime I call to see about getting copies of all my service records, they say the service dept. manager has my reccords, we will have him call you back...BUT HE NEVER DOES!!!
My son went in there on 19 Aug to pick them up in person...they told him the service manager has my reccords in his office & he is gone for the day...
I filed a complaint with BBB on 30 July. I told them I want them to buy back the car,
The BBB is waiting on me to send them all the service invoices, but Saturn won't give them to me!
GM wants to give me anywhere from $750 - $1000 as a compensation, BUT said they do not want me to send anymore info to the BBB!
I DONT THINK SO!!! THIS IS NOT OVER!!!!

I purchased my Saturn Vue 2008 one year ago. The transmission went out after 16000 miles. It is currently being repaired. The dealership has been great and my warranty covers it; however, I am afraid this is the beginning of more pblms. I hope not because I love, love this car.

Let me tell you my 90 Honda Civic was in tip top condition when I sold it in 2005! Never had to replace the clutch, freon, suspension anything except for the timing belt and the water pump naturally. I also have a 2000 Honda Civic in great shape without problems. I will learn from this, stick to your Japanese cars. Why can't we make a reliable car? Is it no surprise that they are in bankrupcy? Now to be owned by the government?

About a month after I got my 2008 Saturn Vue, I have problems starting it. It never starts the first time. The ignition keeps cranking until it either stalls or starts. When the engine is warm, it will start the first time. I was told by Saturn this is normal. My best friend has a Saturn Vue and her car starts normal. I am tired of everyone asking me what is wrong with my car. It is not the dealership's fault because they contacted Saturn and they said it was normal. I can't wait until my lease is up. I will not buy another Saturn again!

I was left on the side of the road because my 2006 Saturn Vue, 5 speed manual transmission, shifter cable and ends failed. Everyone from the dealer and Saturn Corporate customer service acted all surprised, as if they have never heard of this before. Yet I found numerous reports on internet auto blog sites about this very issue. The part itself appears to be a bad design and failure is almost guaranteed. Dealer and Saturn of Mentor refused to offer any replacement help but Saturn gave free parts. Still, this type of failure on a 3year old car is unacceptable for a company such as Saturn that has built its reputation on quality! Final bill was $400.00 and that was with Saturn giving me the parts for free! It's not known how long this fix will be good for.

We have to take our 2008 Saturn Vue back 5 times for the same problem, and it has not been fixed. There have been numerous other warranty issues which have taken up lots of our time.

My 2002 Saturn Vue horn was randomly going off. I brought the car to Saturn and they diagnosed the problem to be under the horn pad. They said I would need a new horn pad and the cost total would be $900.00. I waited a few months and just drove the car locally without the horn fuse in. When I decided to have the car fixed, I brought it to STS Firestone in Westfield (walking distance to my home and could pay off the $900.00 in three months). Firestone ordered the horn pad from Saturn of Union and installed it.
I drove home and the horn went off randomly again. I brought the car back to Firestone and had the horn pad removed. I wanted my money back. Firestone said they couldn't send the horn pad back, I would have to take it back. I contacted Saturn of Union and they said I needed the sales receipt from Firestone. I eventually got the sales receipt and brought the horn pad back to Saturn. They took the horn pad and reinstalled it into my car and sent me on my way. I told them that wouldn't fix the problem.
Sure enough the horn went off again randomly. I brought the car back to Saturn and they kept it for two weeks. I did receive a loaner car and was never contacted in the two weeks about what was being done about my car. I was always the one reaching out to Saturn for an update. I was told that several individuals were driving my car trying to pinpoint where the problem was.
After two weeks I called Saturn and got a man by the name of J. Barchuk (Service manager above Adam) involved. He took my car out and pinpointed the problem right away. The problem was a loose wire tapping on metal above the gear shift housing. They tied down the loose wire and the problem was solved. I was never charged for the work, although John said he paid his technician for three hours to fix the problem. I wanted to know why I still had the new horn pad in and I was told that my old horn pad had a short in it.
I don't believe that and if that was the case, when they put the new horn pad in, it would have shortened out also because the horn randomly going off continued when the new horn pad was installed. I asked how much tying down a loose wire cost and nobody knew the answer to that. Adam did inform me that STS Firestone overcharged me for the new horn pad. They said they charged Firestone $570.00 and Firestone charged me $770.00. When I got home, I called Adam and asked for him to send me back the sales slip they vehemently needed from me to reimburse me for the horn pad (which they never did). He said he would mail it to me.
I've been waiting three weeks for the receipt. I contacted Saturn through their webpage and got little help from them. They told me they contacted Adam and he said if they were to bill me for the work they did on my car (drove it 20 miles in 12 working days) and taped down a loose wire, it would have cost me $1,100.00 dollars. Now they have a price on this job?
The only thing I want from Adam B. is my sales receipt back. I've called three times and so has A. Pico (from the Saturn webpage) once and both of us have gotten nowhere. I'm not asking for money, just MY sales receipt back. I have gone through STS Firestone about the accusations Adam made about over billing and they said they have done nothing wrong. IF I had the sales receipt I could verify who is lying...Saturn or Firestone. This has consumed my life for the last two months.

I purchased a used 2004 Saturn Vue with the 2.2 liter 4 cylander moter and automatic transmission with 22000 miles on it. At 93000 miles the transmission went out. I paid $987.00 for the repair which was 25% of the total bill covered under the class action suit for the VTI trans. When the Vue was returned to me it had an extreme rattle in the engine compartment.
I returned the car to the dealship thinking they missed tightening something. They have informed me that the problem is the timing chain and the cost of the repair is $1200. I had no problems with the Vue prior to the Trans issue. When asked if the 2 problems are related, they informed me that it is impossible for the trans problem to have caused the timing chain problem. Hence the $1200 repair estiment. I have informed them that they are not to touch my car until I contact them again. I am an independant contractor and my vehicle is my livlihood. I am at my wits end. Any suggestions?

This car has been recalled 3 times that I know of its ridiculous yes they fix it for free but it is a inconvinience to come in and then when there is another problem it cost you so much money in this economy and there screw ups with the car why do we as loyal consumers have to deal with it. What they should do is take money off our loan, give us money or a fair trade in that is updated so we won't have to go through this I loved my vue but now I wish I had researched it more when I do purchase another car it will not be with saturn

I purchased a pre-certified saturn vue hybrid 3 wks after i brought the vehicle my wife had to bring it because it would stall or shut-off and cut it self back on finally the hybrid battery had to be replace. Since then my wife has had to constantly bring this vehicle in because it was stalling or the vehicle wouldn't go into hybrid on friday may 8th all the lights came on and my wife made it time to the repair shop before it completely shut down.
We were told it was the battery and it would cost 242.00 after agreeing to pay for this they put the battery in and it still wouldn't work my wife did receive a rental but it really ruin her mothers day weekend.
No one contact us on friday to tell us anything so my wife contact them on Saturday she was told that is the starter. But when we go to pick up the vehicle she was told that is was the generator/alternator/SGC module and the battery. Well about 5:45 the light is on again and I have tried to work with Saturn and Saturn of sebring

I bought my 2006 Saturn Vue, believing that 150,000 miles was a possibility. It had good safety ratings (important with my child on the way) and better gas mileage than other GM products of similar size.
At 19,000 miles I had a transmission leak - fixed on warranty. 3K later, another. 6K later, a headgasket leak, and before 36,000 was up both front struts had failed, including the mounts.
I complained to Saturn, demanded the extended warranty, and got it. Fast forward to 57,000 miles, I've had the front passenger window seal addressed twice (still not fixed), a catastrophic leak in all 4 hoses in the sunroof, and the catalytic converter parts arrived today.
I began calling Saturn Corp over a week ago, and I'm nowhere as of yet. The "owner rep" of my service claim doesn't return my phone calls, and the district service rep was CLEARLY doing four other things while I was explaining that I have my 2yo daughter in the car 90% of the time, and that an extended warranty is of scant value with a broken car, and a cold and terrified toddler on the side of a Michigan freeway during any one of our 7 months of winter.
I bought this vehicle when I was married and pregnant. I refinanced this vehicle in order to keep it after I divorced; because I believed it was a good product. Because I had faith in the Saturn name. Because I had been reading and hearing for a decade about Saturn's commitment to their "family" of customers at any length.

2002 Saturn Vue timing chain broke @ 68,000 miles. Saturn/GM knows of the faulty timing chain oiler mechanisms from multitudes of other owners or 01 & 02 Saturn Vues. I am a very dissatisfied Saturn owner. I have been without my car for 2 months! I notified the recall dept of Saturn to no satisfaction.

Purchsed 2006 Vue Brand new it has been towed and diagnosed 17 times. Last night it stopped dead while driving. They do not want to replace vehicle. Offered $3000. Death Trap

Purchsed 2006 Vue Brand new it has been towed and diagnosed 17 times. Last night it stopped dead while driving. They do not want to replace vehicle. Offered $3000. Death Trap. I am currently being treated for an illness which i need to get back and forth to NYC

This 2003 Saturn Vue is the second Saturn I've owned. The first was a compact 4 door sedan. It was satisfactory. My Vue is far superior, It has only 4 cylinders, but climbs mountains beautifully. My complaint is that the 2009 Vue has a too small trunk. I need the room of my square shape back. If they stay round, I wouldn't be able to get a new one.

I purshased my 2002 Saturn Vue in the year 2007, right after a tornodo went through Prattville, Alabama (and I lost everything including my then Honda). I begain to have problems with it less than 2 months later. I was told that the wearing on the throudebody was the problem. It was supposed to have been fixed after taking it to the Saturn shop, but one month later I had to put my car back into the shop (after I had been told the problem had been fixed).
Additionally, my young daughter was driving the car in a high traffic area when it just cut off (without any warning) while other cars were passing by. This could have been a fatal accident. I am a single parent; I have one child who just recently graduated and one more to graduate within the next year. Thus, I dont have money to throw away because Saturn refuses to make vehicles that will be both cost and product efficent to people who trust in their produts.
I was told that sense they found the real problem (the entire wire harness needed to be replaced- as opposed to their intial findings), and that I needed to put my car back into the shop for a third time within a year. This would cost me an additional $810.00 dollars. Someone needS to help everyone who owns a Saturn to be reimbursed for the hardships we are experiencing.

Its hard for me to provide a state or province because my circumstances are different. I bought my first Saturn in North Carolina May 2003 (Saturn Vue). It pretty much started falling apart the first winter I had it. The windsheild wash spray thing had to be replaced right away. All the plastic in the wheel wells disintergrated and other little things. Then I had real problems with it. I was driving on the highway and it just died, that cost me over $2000.00.
The second winter I had the engine light came on and the GM dealer here wouldn't even put it on their machine to see if was drivable, they had to be forced to do it by the head of warranty dept. at Saturn but they absolutely would not do any work on it. It had to be taken 5hrs to the nearest dealer. When I took it to the dealership in Edmonton they weren't even going to honor the warranty on it because it was a US vehicle, I understood that was where they all came from. I was told by the dealer that I bought it from that this was a non issue as it was North American.
They weren't even going to do the recall work. I lost the wheel bearing on one side and had to have it replaced here in Canada, Over $400.00 for one wheel bearing! This from a company that tell you that all part are north american made so they are cheaper. The interesting thing is that just a few months later I had the other wheel bearing changed in Arizona and it only cost me a little over $400.00 with the labour! Then the only way I could get rid of it was trade it for another Saturn because nobody else wanted it. (The dealer that traded me for it is now upset because he has this vehicle that is worthless really, can't even get rid of it at auction).
A saturn Ion 2003, I had it just one day short of 3 mos; went to start it up and the key wouldn't turn in the ignition; the warranty was still valid but there was no where here in town to get the work done. I had to put the car on a flatbed and get it hauled to the dealership ($700.00 later). Well it runs for now but I still have to tap the key to get it to turn over at times. The beep is on all the time as soon as the door is open even when the key is not in the ignition and the lights are off. I have had to get the car boosted because that beep is on all the time so the lights were left on. The trunk button doesn't work any more. You can't lock the doors from the inside with the lock button.
They had it for amost three months and I got it back from the dealership with a big hole in the bumper and the tires full of mud. It cost me almost $400.00 to get it fixed after it came back from the dealer mechanic. I have tried to tell them that it isn't fixed but they tell me now the warranty has run out. I am so tired of talking to these people. That last time I talked to customer service to complain they tried to sell me another vehicle seeing as how I was having so much trouble with this one.

My 2002 Saturn VUE w/68000 miles is in the shop because of faulty timing chain. I'm now concerned because of all the complaints that I'm hearing, that the engine may be more damaged than my mechanic is aware of. The timing chain broke on 3/03/09 and it is still in the shop today, 4/05/09! I have been afoot for over a month. First had it towed to The only Saturn Dealership in Austin, TX (far north) and paid them $54 for a diagnostic test. Their suggestion was $3800 for a new engine & $1600 to install it. They did not even mention timing chain, just no compression in 2 & 3 cylinders.
I then had it towed to a mechanic that was recommended by a friend and he treated it just like a regular timing chain replacement to the tune of $2500. He had the head magnafluxed (?) replaced the timing chain w/new oil mechanism and when it was all reassembled detected a noise in the bottom of the engine. With further inspection found a bent rod (duh)and began pretty much completely REoverhauling my engine. Finally has it back together as of Friday and now it has Reduced Power issues. I am worried at how much more $$$ he is going to want for this job. Is there anything that Saturn is liable for at this point? I feel like I am caught in a twilight zone episode!
A month without my car that otherwise was running just great before the timing chain left me and my daughter stranded. Please let know what options you know of....like maybe having Saturn replace my vehicle! Now I'm stuck with this mechanic & his issues. Of course the Saturn service department here has never heard about the class action lawsuit regarding the faulty timing chains. How can I get on board with that?
I am so frustrated w/Saturn for not taking care of this problem long ago. And I was always a loyal Saturn fan. I even had an SCII and loved it so much I replaced the transmission in it. Now I hear they all had transmission problems that Saturn also never addressed. I feel like I've been duped TWICE by Saturn. Please HELP! Thanks for all you do, Still Saturn Stranded in Austin!
2 Towings Major inconvenience of being w/out my car. Not sure how much mechanic is going to charge now. Lost my job the day after the breakdown, hard to job search afoot. I'll stop short of crying here.

I purchased my Saturn Vue with 60000 miles and within one month my VTI transmission went totally out. It was fixed by the Saturn dealer. A year later just short of the warranty running out because I drove for my job so I had high mileage. The transmission went out again. I spoke with Corporate and they had a bad attitude and told me they couldn't help me my warranty was already up. I was out of 4000 dollars. When I bought the car it always sounded like my window was down and now I was told that noise is related to my differential.
Now I have major problems that need to be fixed with the differential. I can't believe they wouldn't recall this piece of a car. I drive for my job and don't trust the car anymore. I went to get a new honda pilot for dependeiability and now have 2 car notes still owing two years left on this piece of Saturn because it is not worth anything.
I got the proposed law suit papers and didn't know if it went through but iA would love to try to get my 75% back from the second time my transmission out and I had to pay out of pocket last summer 4000.

In 2003, I purchased a 2003 Vue. I was very excited to have my first SUV. Soon after the purchase, the fuel pump went. Then, the second fuel pump went. Then they both went again. Then, the Transmission blew and had to be replaced, and the heat shield. I couldn't rely on this vehicle so I decided I would trade it in a get a different vehicle. I took it to Dodge, and they wouldn't take it. They said it would just sit there. I didn't know what to do so I went back to Saturn who made me a deal of a life time to take the 2003 back and sell me a 2006.
Here I am with my new 2006 VUE, hoping that things got better. Well they didn't. My passenger window always sounds like it is open and it leaks when it rains. The steering column had to be replaced because my key would get stuck in the ignition. The check engine light would go on for no reason. Saturn of Smithtown couldn't figure out why and my VUE was in there two sepparate times for the same issue. The icing on the cake was driving to PA to take care of my mother in law who has cancer and getting stuck while going to pick up milk at the store for her. I had to have my car towed by roadside because it would just die after starting it and if I could get it to run, it would malfunction ie: no power steering or the lights would just come on, door locks would lock and keyless entry wouldn't work.
Because I was in PA and the nearest Saturn dealership was in Pompton Plains New Jersey they had to store my vehicle over night and tow it to new jersey the next day. This delayed me getting home. I called corporate to explain my difficulties and they were less than sympathetic. As a matter of fact, the manager Christine got on the phone and was down right nasty. All I want is to get out of this! I pay $361.00/month and I can't even rely on my vehicle. I had to rent a car, drive from PA to my house on Long Island and then drive back to Jersey to pick up my vehicle and drive back all in the same day! This is rediculous. I just want to get out of this Smart Buy ASAP! Wasn't very smart was it?
Economic - losing a couple of days pay to deal with driving back and forth for my car. Not having a vehicle to take my mother in law in if she needed it.

We purchased a used 2004 Saturn Vue, AWD, 4 cylinder from a local dealership in PA with 50,000 miles on it. we bought it with this mileage because we could actually afford it then, and it had side curtain airbags. we have a new little baby and were thrilled at the prospects of having such a safe car. 10,000 miles later, wham, the lovely VTI transmission just goes out, like that. running fine to boom. blown transmission. turns out saturn will cover 75% of this because of a class action lawsuit against them regarding this VTI transmission. They will only cover 75% because we are not the original owners (if we were it would be 100%) they tell us. The transmission is deemed faulty - by the lawsuit - but saturn won't recall this car. I've read online some customers have had multiple failures out of this transmission, even after a full replacement, and many at low mileage. I contacted Saturn corporation directly (i guess its technically GM) and spoke to a rep and filed a complaint.
Saturn basically told me oh well. at least we're covering something and no we wont' cover 100%. i expressed my concerns that i'm getting a new transmission but its still the faulty one, which is a ticking time bomb! nothing from them. i will have to fork out around $1,500 by the time i pay for the transmission, labor, and having the thing towed all over southeast pa. sigh. thank heavens i won't foot the full bill of 5000. once the car passes 100,000 miles, saturn only covers 30%, and after 125,000 - nothing. but i have serious serious doubts this car will be making it to 100,000 anyway! and if it does, i sure won't be the owner. I'm really disappointed. I insisted on buying american to support OUR economy, do the right thing, etc. and now wish i'd gone toyota or honda. lesson learned unfortunately - the hard way.

My 2003 Saturn VUE with the CVT transmition over-reved going up a mountain pass. I was slowing down even though my foot was on the floor. Problem is, it was only one time. I have another complaint about the seat. I am going to have to get it replaced because the pad is flat on the springs.

Issues with my Saturn VUE, Transmission, Gear Shift linkage, Suspension, hazardous button breaking off in dash, Overall quality and safety issues. 3 year old car is worth less than $4000 and so far repair cost are at $2500.00 and counting. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle and I can't get rid of it because it is worth so little.
I have a car that I still ower two years on and is worth very little. Have paid over $2500.00 for 2 major repairs that should NEVER happen on a modern car. There are other major issue sthat have not been repaired yet because of the cost. Car is worth almost nothing on a trade and so I can not get rid of it.

My husband and I purchased this Saturn Vue 2002 from his mother almost 2 years ago. She had the maintenance done through the dealer and is methodical about up keep on her vehicles. A new battery was installed and the 50000 mile check was done. We figured we were buying a very reliable car, boy were we wrong. We have had all the maintenance done since through our mechanic.
First problem we had was the fuel pumps had to be replaced 1800 dollars now the throttle body needs replacing . My mechanic said he couldn't get the parts from saturn till mid march I found this hard to believe so he towed it up to saturn for me to see what they could do. They said the same thing and that it needs a new battery, pos terminal bolt throttle bodyJ5490, engine wiring harness and to recall the PCM about 2200.
I start reading on line how many people have had similar issues with their Vue's, it's a lot. I spoke to some one at a chevy dealership and asked why would a part be back order on a 2002 my understanding is that a reserve of parts are kept for cars for 10years. he said that was standard if the parts are depleted that it could be a problem. so i called corporate and Terry passed me off to Crytsal in financial assistance She basically told me that that was normal wear and tear on a perfectly maintained car with 68000 miles on it.
My husband then spoke to Jennifer at sales, since we don't have a car what would we get if we traded it. My husband said that he did'nt want another Saturn she came back with a 2500.offer and said that since 2003 the problems with the Vue's have been worked out. Funny Mike in the repairs department said that there are no problems and we are lucky that another customer has been waiting 6 months for a part. I have owned several used cars with 2 or even 3X's the mileage and never had these kinds of issues or service.

I have A 2003 Saturn Vue. It currently has appro. 80,000 miles. At about 50,000 miles i had to replace the transmission. It was making noises and would not go when car was hot. I Would get a service engine light and a reduced power light.
Now 30,000 miles later the problem is reoccurring. So now i have to replace the transmission again and drop another 3000 to 6000 dollars on a car that will only mess up again.

I bought a used saturn Vue from the Saturn dealership and asked if the car had been in any accidents and the sales women told me it had not been. That was my first clue they were lieing to me. I did a carfax history report and found thatit had been. The convinced me they looked the vehicle over and everything was fine. Within the 2000 mile I had to return the car to the dealer to get it repaired because of a shaking in the front end and the rear wipper motor was blown. I had paid about $2500 for an extended warrenty that I was informed I would be able to use back in New York. After they had suposidly fixed it on my way home (1.5 hrs away) I noticed the shaking getting worse than before. They had told me the shaking was thr rotors just needed to be shaved down.
I comlained right away and attempted to find someone around me that would accept the extended warrenty I had baught for the vehicle. No one woudl honor it. Event he Saturn dealer that is closer to me told me I woudl have to pay for the repair up front first plus a $95 fee for just looking at the vehicle. I complained and took my vehicle back to the original dealer to talk to the manager about the supposed extended warrenty I paid for not being good anywhere but at this dealership. The dealer said that he would meet me half way and bring me a loaner car until my car could be fixed. That never happened. Do to weather and the manager supposidly being sick my car broke down and the transmission went out. I was told by the dealer to have it brought back and if it wasunder 75000 mile which it was at 74684 miles that the dealer woudl pay for the tow bill and replace my transmission for no charge.
Well, I had to pay for they tow bill and I am still waiting for my $388.80 to be reimbursed as promised. After they had my Vue for w week and replaced not only the trnasmission they also replaced the computer that broke down as wll. I was not charged at that time for it. When I had it towed to the dealer the shifter was reading properly, but when I got it back after supposidly being fixed I noticed that whenthe vehicle was in drive the shifter had to be between the N and the D. I took it back and also told them of the sluggish response fromt the transmission and the noise that I noticed again on my way home with the continual shaking I complained about before. They told me it was the weels that needed to be balanced. WRONG AGAIN. When I called then to figure out when I woudl be receiveing my car back they told me that the transmission cable needed to be replaced and it was not covered under my extended warrenty that I had purchased and that they should not have fixed my transmission before, becuase it was their mistake the warrenty only covered the original owner not the new owner. Mind you I have had this car less than three month and it has been in the shop 4 times, 2 times for a week at a time.
I now have to take off work again and drive 1.5 hour down to the dealer to pick up my car and pay the $100 for the deductiable for the repair of the bearings that they now say were bad from the beggining. I also had to replace the break pads on my own after they shaved the rotors in order to pass the NY state inspection. I could not afford to have the transmission cable fixed at this time, but they say it will cost about $392.00 for labor to replace it, plus the delivery charge for the part and other fees. Now if I bought the best extended warrenty and it does cover the transmission why is the cable not covered?????? If the cable is a requires part to make the transmission operate why is it not covered? Also, I was promissed by the manager several times to be given a list of shops closer to my residence tha will honor the warenty I paid for, but I have yet to recieve that list. I was lied to and promised alot of things before I about this vehicle and I have yet to have a week where something did not go wrong with it. This supposed warrenty I paid over $2500 for is unseless and I bought it so I would not have to drive an hour and half each way to ge to the dealership.
I am not longer happy with my vue and want to trade it in, but I am stuck becuse the value has dropped to half of what I paid for it since I bought it 3 month ago. I paid under what the blue book value was and not it is half that sicne th economic crisis and the inability for GM to manage things correctly. I used to love Saturns, but not anymore. Now I dispise them. I will never own one after this one for as long as I live. Gm to me now joins the ranks of Chrysler in my book for not backing up thier product and shafting the consumer with lemons.

My wife purchased a 2003 Saturn Vue. She is the only owner of the vehicle and it was paid off last year. The car has been absolutely nothing but trouble. We have taken the car into Saturn to have transmission fixed 3 times. The latest was at 121,000 miles. Now Saturn has extended their warranty regarding transmissions on the vue to 75% up too 125,000 miles. However, the transmission is so expensive to fix that even at 25% of the bill it still cost you $2,000 to fix after the tow bill to get it there (which they will not cover) and the rental car for 3 days normal people have to have to continuing working (which they will not cover either).
So basically, you end up paying what it would cost you to fix a normal transmission on a good vehicle. Its so obvious why GM is tanking as a business and it has a lot more to do with their products and service, than it does with their retirement checks and union bills. Americans would 10:1 rather buy an american made car they Honda or Toyota, but we simply can't afford too anymore!

I own a 2003 Saturn vue v6 all wheel drive, it have 45,000 miles on it when the timing belt broke and the motor was stop running. They told me to replace the motor would be $4500for a used motor with 70,000 miles and warrty for 6 months. I call sautr but got no satiefaction.
I felt I lose about $7,000 for the vue have a lot of extras and in good shape with new tire. I junk the car for $500

My [2004 Saturn Vue] car used to occasionally do the reported jerk when putting it in reverse, but not all the time. Now I have the issue with it not wanting to shift into the higher gears opon acceleration and can only anticipate that I will soon find myself on the side of the road. I can't believe that Saturn will not issue a recall and offer to fix a known issue. This really upsets me when we as taxpayers are bailing out GM with MILLIONS of dollars, and I soon will have no reliable transportation.
I cannot afford to replace the horrificly expensive transmission ($5-6000) and don't think that I should have to with 78K miles. I sold a Honda Accord a few years ago with 170K miles on it and only 1 costly repair...a $500 water pump replacement which pales in comparison to this. I really hate to do this, but I guess I will be buying an import once again on the next go around if they do not resolve this issue!

I am a single mom with twosmall kids trieng to make ends meet. I have a 2004 saturn vue the transmission was barely working i took it to the dealer to get the trasmission fluid checked you cant check it yourself. Bottom line iwas desparate and in need of help.Herr is what help i got from them. After driving 30 miles with a car that i didnt know if i could make it home. There service dept wonderful people that they are Charged me 58 dollars to check the fluid level, and then to tell me it would cost over 5000 dollars for them to fix the transmission, no other offers just that. I left there not knowing if i could make it home. The saturn people were so good to work with. I dont know what i am going to do, you can be sure it wont involve SATURNNNNNNNNNn.
I have to try to find a viehicle to get to work

We have a 2003 Saturn Vue that has the timing chain problem as noted in the NHTSA complaints. The engine stopped while driving. We nearly avoided a head on collision as the car died while turning against oncoming traffic. The car died leaving us stranded. We had to have it towed. The reported problem is a broken timing chain that ruined the engine. New engine is gooing to cost $4,000. We do not have the money to pay for the needless repair so the car sits in our driveway.
we have not been able to drive the car for over 2 years. Our Saturn dealer where we bought the car in not willing to do anything about it. This has left us without needed transportation as we still owe a loan.

My 2003 Vue Cooling system, water pump was replaced 12/18/07,my extended warranty cover some of the cost(total bill $509.22),my out of pocket was $197.56. Not once did Saturn notified me of the problem that DexCool may have cause this problem I only had 45,469 miles on the Vue at that time and Saturn put Dexcool back in the cooling system when they fix my Vue in Dec. 2007 and to time Dexcool is still in my cooling system. I was not inform of this class action against Dexcool.
As I'm writing this email,my Vue have develop cooling problem again. I contact Saturn on Friday(12/5/08),they want to charge me $120.00 to check my Vue for this problem. I took my Vue to Autozone and had the test done for free that when I was told by one of Autozone staff about the Dexcool class action.according to the diagnotic test my three things was a probable cause, coolant level(okay),thermostat, and engine coolant temperature sensor defective.
I'm very concern that Saturn was not careful when they replace Dexcool in my Vue when they knew the problem it was reported to have cause to other automotives.
I plan to contact Saturn tomorrow(12/8/08) for service and I wish to have service done without cost to me. I plan to contact customer service and file a complaint. I'm also concern that they charging an unreasonable price for basic maintance serves($457.06).

I usually get a rental car every week to take me to my place of work in Wisconsin - and this past week, I rented a Saturn Vue - a 2008 model with around 3,000 miles on the odometer. Yesterday morning, I was driving the Saturn the half mile from the hotel I stay at to work - and I was running a little late. I braked to turn into the parking lot, though didn't come to a full stop - and at around 15 - 20mph, the side airbags suddenly deployed. I parked the car, and checked all around the vehicle (since it was a rental car, I took video with my iphone to ensure that nobody had damaged the car either around the vehicle or underneath) - and there was NO SIGN of any damage ANYWHERE. I know I hadn't hit anything - so what made the airbags suddenly deploy ?
Currently, GM is investigating the vehicle with the rental car company. I've read some of the articles on this website about how airbags are deploying - and in this case, the Saturn Vue certainly seems to have a fault where sudden de-accelerations will trigger an airbag deployment. Luckily, the front airbags didn't deploy (otherwise there might have been an injury) - but in this case, I was on my own and except for the loud bang, I didn't suffer any damage. I don't personally purchase Saturn or any GM vehicles - and certainly this is a very bad sign to me of the quality of their product. I certainly wouldn't want the airbags to deploy unless I actually hit something.

I have a 2004 Saturn Vue with 82K miles on it and the timing belt went. Less than 10K miles out from the warranty.
I am a single mother with two small children also trying to go to college and the very last thing I can afford right now is a new engine in my vehicle at 80-some thousand miles, particularly 6 weeks before Christmas.

I have had my Sarurn Vue for 3 years now and have had to had the wheel bearings replaced 3 times. Just this week I was driving late one night and my axle went on the off ramp of a major highway and the police were called and AAA as well.I was stuck in a dangerous spot until the police arrived. The officer was kind enough to push me out of harms way. I had the Vechile towed to the Saturn dealer and they told me that the axle went and the the ignition cylinder is going to lock-up on me.
My extended warranty just ran out last month and I am going to have to pay 731.25 dollars for the axle job and another 357.00 for the iginition cylinder repairs.

My Saturn Vue is a 2005 model, with 67,000 miles on it. The timing chain has malfuntioned. It's costing us 2 weeks pay to have it replaced. Not happy at all. I've had cars with twice the mileage, and no problems with the timing.
I was on my lunch break, stranded, which required my husband to drive the 30 miles in his vehicle to get me, the $99 tow, and now 2 weeks paycheck, ($1400)

I purchased a 2005 Saturn Vue June of 2008. I just had the key get stuck in the ignition and will not budge. I called AAA and a locksmith told me that he has so many complaints regarding the Vue's ignition that he keeps parts in his truck. The AAA Locksmith said Saturn uses an ignition that is for a lawn mower. Good luck to all of us

I purchased a vehicle less than two years ago, A 2005 Satrun VUE. I took the car back shortly after I purchased it for noise that sounded like it was coming from transmission. Saturn assured me that it was okay well 11 months later my transmission is completely not working. I contacted Saturn corp that informed me that the transmission was replaced before I purchased and there was an extended warranty that the dealership failed to inform me about. The warranty was for up to 75k miles and now that Im at 81k miles Im not sure if I will get assistance.
Per Saturn this special transmission is going to cost me $4500 plus labor and we all know in this day in time that is not something people have just laying around. I am upset and feel the dealership withheld information that could have possible helped me and maybe this situation could have been avoided. I am currently waiting for Saturn to check my vehicle after I have paid two other shops and this has become a huge pain and Im not even sure if Saturn will help with this matter.

I purchased a new 2008 Saturn Vue in Auagus 2008. Had not had the car 2 weeks when check engine light came on. It has been To Slidell Saturn almost every 2 weeks with the check engine light on. They have replace numerous parts saying each is related to something else. I made my first payment on Sept 21 and my car was still in the shop. Had I known that I could have gotten a new replacement before I had 1500 on it, I would have. But I took it on a trip to show if off and passed that mark. I have been in constant touch with customer service with Saturn reps somewhere in this world. All they do is type all my complaints in their computer for review, but have not found out who does the reviewing or can't find a body of management to talk to. As I write this, my car is in Slidell and they are working on it. Slidell is 45 minutes each way from Gulfport.

204 Saturn VUE AWD 6 cylinder, so far we have had the differential replaced twice, less than 25,000 miles, under warranty. It had to go back once cause the ham heads at OWINGS MILLS HERITAGE saturn screwed up the gasket and the fluid leaked out. Now the torque convertor is shot. The morons at the ELICOTT City HERITAGE saturn couldn't find the problem, they said it was the old tires.
I took it to a GMC dealer and the techs there found the problem after one test drive, and they found the tech service bulletin from Saturn stating there was a problem with the converter. The wonderful poeple at saturn customer service said they couldn't depend on the GMC dealers results and I had to take the car to a reputable saturn dealer, hard to find. Seems saturns can be part ofGMC when it fulfills their interests. I am going to try and have them pony up at least some of the cost of the repair, since the torque converter seems to be on national back order, wonder why. I poor piece of work, the car, the service and the customer relations. NEVER buy a saturn, new or used.
Missed hours and days at work driving the car and a chase car to and from dealers. **** poor excuses from glad handing service writers who are taking lessons from sleazy salesman.

I purchased a Saturn Vue with a VTI engine. The SUV is a 2003. I was very excited to have a SUV that I thought was of superior quality. Howver, since purchasing the Vue and taking it to the above dealership, I have experience repair after repair. I am alarmed that every time I take my car to get it fix for one thing, something else always appear to occur a week or a month later. I took my car in for an oil change only, when I was informed i had a transmission problem. I had to borrow money to get a $5200 transmission replaced. I need my car as this was my only means of transpotation.
I received my car after repair. I and my pregnant daughter smelled gas and we noticed that my car was leaking gas on the passenger's side. I return my car to the same Saturn dealership and I was informed nowout of the blue that I have a crack in the gas tank. Explain to me how i didn't have this problem before I got my transmission fix, now I have a crack in my car that was leaking gas the entire time that i and my pregnant daughter was in. I am so grateful to God that no one was smoking and threw a lighted cigareette or match under iur car. We would be DEAD NOW. I have had over twelve major , costly repairs to this Saturn Vue since I had it.
Altogether, I have paid just as much money in repairs as I have for the purchase of this vehicle. My friends ask me as a professional would I purchase another Saturn. My answer is negative. I ask about the recall on the VTI transmission and i was informed even though the VTI engine may be to large to accommodate the Saturn and I am over 100,000 miles by 30,000. I do not qualify for a partial reimbursement. I do not like the fact that the management at saturn treat me as a woman as an ignorant one. I have been the owner of several cars. Never have I repaired, replaced, or paid out so much money for one car before.I am being charged as of today an additional $682.00 for a crack that was never present during several oil changes and previous repairs by the dealership. To have someone tell you thatthe crack was always there. Is untrue. Someone either put thecrack there by accident or on purpose.
I am upset because this type of negligenc e could of cost my life,my daughter's life ( 7months)pregnant and her unborn child's life. I can't imagine doing business with Saturn again and I am definitely afraid to bring my car to the dealership for a simple oil change. Who knows it may be my last drive home.

Received a third blowout of a tire of the Saturn Vue Green Line which is only 17 months old. The car was not provided with a spare as the company is quick to point out that the cars have no need for a spare since the tires do not blow out. Since that time, I have not received the car and have been greatly inconvenienced by the entire situation. I had to pay for the towing of the car once the situation happened despite Saturn Roadside Assistance saying that they are available 24/7.
Damage to tire, to rim potentially, to side of car when another car scratched it when I was on the side of the road. Loss of work monies from appointments missed with clients. I have not had a car, my only means of transportation for the past five days.

I was dirving my 2003 saturn vue on 9-15-08 whet someone ran a red light ang we collided and my air bags did not deploy. The whole front end was mangled and smoking after the accident.I was so scared for my children that were riding with me that I did not notice that they did not deploy until the police arrived on the scene.
My vue was totaled and it left me a little shaken that the bags did not deploy like they were supposed to. I thought saturn's were supposed to be very safe cars. My children that were riding with me are now very reluctant to drive with me because they think something bad is going to happen because i got hurt in the accident.

My 2004 Saturn Vue transmission went out, after countless numbers transmission condition treatments.
I have 2 years left before it is paid off.

I drive a 2004 Saturn Vue. I am now on my 4th transmission and this one is going out as well. Something has to be done. A class action lawsuit against Saturn for providing such a poor transmission and customer service. I have had nothing but issues with this vehicle. Can't trade it because no one wants it! Not to mention the amount of money I am out due to repairs. I don't advise ANYONE to purchase a Saturn. Too costly! And what's even worse is that you can't find a mechanic that will touch a Vue because of the transmissions so you are left to take it to a Saturn dealership who charges more than what the work is worthl

I purchased a 2005 Saturn Vue and would like to add my name to the hundreds of others, complaining about ignition problems in Saturn vehicles. Sure hope this issue gets resolved soon before someone dies.
500.00 plus in repair charges

4 months after i bought the 2003 saturn vue i was working as a travel nurse in florida. I was driving the car home from work one night and i was going around 35-40 mph and it just stopped. i heard a clunk and i thought i had run over something and the tranny just died. i was on a back road, alone, with little cell phone access. it cost me 150.00 to tow it and 250.00 for saturn to look at it. they then told me it would cost 6-7000 to fix it and they were VERY rude.
I TIRED TO TRADE IT IN, THEY WOULDNT EVEN TAKE THEIR OWN VEHICLE! I found a small repair shop to fix it for 2500.00, why couldnt saturn fix it for that? it lasted me 12000 miles and has again died. saturn again tells me it is 6000.00 to fix it and 250.00 to look it. my finace co told me the best they could do is allow me to do a voluntary surrender. It will destroy my credit. Im a single mom, how do I get to work? I bought this car because I trusted the saturn name, they left me out to dry.
my credit is about to be destroyed.

2005 Saturn Vue, only 63000 miles on it. Saga started when I had to replace brakes w/relatively low miles on the car. They used aftermarket parts, the pads ended up warped and I had to pay for labor for them to replace w/mfr brake pads. Car in the shop again around 50k miles w/an All Wheel Drive bearing that'd gone bad, they couldn't explain why. Several hundred dollars for that repair.
Now I'm back 6 months later at 63k miles with transmission issues. They quoted me 901.00 for the part alone, no labor. After reading all the transmission problems with Saturn vehicles on the internet I'm not feeling too reassured. Guess I should have bought a Honda. I will tell everyone I know - DON'T BY A SATURN!!!
I am sure my transmission will eventually fail, and I will end up having to pay between 3000 and 6000 to fix it.

I have a 2003 Saturn Vue which we purchased in March 2003. It has about 67,500 miles on it. On Tuesday, August 5, the transmission died on my way home from work. I live about 30 miles from the nearest Saturn dealership. I just got off the phone with Saturn customer service, complaint #71-652519808. I explained the situation, and asked what could be done, since I am less than 6 months beyond the 5 years, and well under the 75,000 miles. The car is undrivable. All they will say is that I must bring the car to a Saturn dealer before they will do what is right.
I have had the car evaluated locally, it is the transmission. It will cost me several hundred dollars to have it towed to a Saturn dealer, and I do not have reason to be confident in the service department after past experiences. All I have asked before I go to the expense of bringing the car to them is that they extend the warranty to cover the additional few months. They will not give me that, they will only tell me that they will do what they can once it is there. I will not go to the expense without something to indicate they truly are going to make this right. HELP!

My 2004 Saturn just experienced timing chain failure. Luckily I was in my driveway when I heard the ticking sound and then stalled. Having only 46,000 mi I was shocked! When I called my local Saturn dealer they said Saturn's aren't known for timing chain failure! Guess he didn't get the recall notice that went into affect in Jan. I sure hope the NHTA expands this to the Vue model as it has the same 2.2L 4 cyl engine.

Purchased new 2008 Saturn Vue in October and from April thru June, the car was in for service 8 times. Fuel pump and system in trunk part of car failed and has been replaced. I meet the criteria for South Carolina Lemon Laws. Saturn Corporation told me they would buy back this defective Vue if I would put approximately $3000 out of pocket. They want me to pay to buy back a car that they admittedly say is defective enough that it won't be put back on a lot. It is impossible to break thru the corporate network to talk to a manager. The local dealer was willing to waive some local fees to help - but corporate won't budget. I am to pay $3000 for a 2008 car when I bought the car in good faith that it would work.

I enjoyed the 1998 Sturn L2 sedan I had originally. It had better highway gas mileage than most of the "best" new cars. (35 hwy). In 2002, I traded that sedan in for a brand new Vue. I have had more problems with this Vue than I have ever had with any other car, even though I regulary get the recommended service, every 3000 miles. Starting in the summer of 2003, the air conditioner was leaking on the front seat passenger's feet. I was told it was condensation. Shortly after that the air conditioner ceased cooling. I paid hundreds of dollars to replace the parts.
Shortly after that, I received the first of two recall notices on the 2002 Vue: regarding rear suspension and wear during turns. I had the recall work completed. Shortly after that, the hatch door wouldn't shut. It had become locked in while open and would not unlock so that it could latch with the door shut. I had this repaired. Shortly after that, the car began to lose considerable power whenever the air conditioner was in use. Shortly after that, the battery was empty and I had to have it replaced. At this time, the car is not even five years old. The power window motor on the driver's door sometimes sticks. The replacement of this will cost several hundred dollars.
Most recently, I have a problem exactly like Dorian of Austin TX (01/22/07). Upon locking the car with the remote on Friday night, the horn blared and did not stop. I unhooked the battery and waited for AAA, who said that the horn was stuck and got the horn to stop by wiggling the horn button on the steering wheel. An hour later, the horn startied blaring again and the car had been sitting outside untouched. Again I unhooked the battery. (Saturn in Bakersfield is not open on weekends). The car sat all weekend with the battery unhooked.
Monday morning, the next AAA person unhooked the horn and I drove to Saturn. Mondays are busy days at Saturn so I made an appointment for Tuesday morning. Tuesday morning, I brough the Vue to Saturn to be repaired. Diagnosis? The horn activator button is built into the airbag module. The only way to repair the horn activator button is to replace the airbag module, for $866.49. I was surprised and cynically not surprised at the same time when I found the exact same problem mentioned by Dorian of Austin TX (01/22/07). Even the repair costs are freakishly close. If I don't have this problem fixed, I will not have use of the horn, therefore, the "service" light on the dashboard will stay lit, therefore, next time I hav ethe car smog checked, it will not pass unless the horn is reactivated. (after the $866.49 repair).
I have lost faith in Saturn Company. I will not buy another Saturn vehicle and I will be certain to share my disappointing experiences with any other new car customer who may be considering a Saturn. On a final note, I remember Saturn commercials from the 1990's which claimed that tthe computers at all Saturn Dealerships were networked so I could have work done at two or more different dealerships and they would know everything they need to know about my Saturn car. Well, Bakersfield doesn't seem to be on that network.

On July 6th, while on vacation in Virginia, I had a wild turkey fly into the windshield of my brand new 2008 Saturn VUE. I had it taken to the dealership in Richmond, Virginia because I didn't know what else to do at the time. Fortunately, I was on my way there (Richmond) to visit my mother. I called first thing the next morning (July 7th) and was told that no 2008 parts were on hand and a new windshield would have to be ordered and it would be Friday (July 10th) before it would be in and they could fix my car. I was planning on leaving on Friday to head back home to Arkansas anyway, so this was no problem.
On Friday morning I received a phone call from Freedom Glass (who was doing the actual replacement of my windshield), the dealership got the windshield in but ordered the wrong one. Now, it would be Tuesday before they got the right windsheild in (possibly Wednesday). The dealership found one in Maryland and they would drive up on Monday to get the right windshield. Question: Why not drive up Friday?? Problem: I was due back at work on Monday.
I did get my car back later in the day on Monday and made it back to Arkansas late Wednesday afternoon. I asked about some sort of compensation for my lost time at work and got the run around. By not getting back to work until actually, Thursday (July 17) I lost three days of pay at a rate of $12.42/hr. In these times there is no one who can afford that. I really can't because I have a small child getting ready to go back to school and a husband who is currently unemployed.

We purchased a 2008 Saturn Vue in May of 2008. So far the only thing I have to say good about it is good gas mileage. The seats are terrible. In fact as I get out of the car I have to be careful for the side of my bottom right under my leg hurts so bad it is hard to stand up right away. Would never purchase another one. We have owned GM Cars and both worked there and retired from there but, this is the worse car we have ever owned. All due to the drivers side seat. Would not have another one.

I have a 2005 Saturn VUE with a manual transmission. The clutch pedel went to the floor and the car would not shift or stay started. I took it in to my local deal, Saturn of Elmhurst (Elmhurst, IL). I described the problem and was told 30 minutes later that it was a Slave Unit in the transmission that is probally bad. I did some research on the internet and found that this is a common problem with Saturn since the 90's. I felt when the service rep told me what the problem is that they already new without looking at the car. This tells me that they have a lot of experience with this issue.
The research shows that Saturn has been using bad transmissions for many years without as much as a recall. I have been driving manual transmissions for over 20 years and I NEVER had any issues with one until this car.
i was told that it would cost $500 just to look at the transmission and was given an estimated cost of $1200 - $1500.00 to repair. This is caused a lot of problems since I had to take a load with a large interest rate to pay this repair and I just started working again after being laid off. I don't have that kind of money around laying around and I certainly can't afford a high loan payment.

My 2003 Saturn Vue broke down on the interstate at 88,000 miles with no previous warning. Saturn of VA Beach tells me it's the transmission, and cost of replacing it will run $6000 plus labor. I took it to AAMCO, who gave an estimate just over $4000. After researching Saturn on the web, I now see nothing but problems with transmissions. Saturn was completely unhelpful and refused to acknowledge that they had sold me a lemon. Horrible experience, I will never buy Saturn or GM vehicles again.

With no prior warning, my 2004 Saturn Vue left me by the rode, failed transmission. I still owe seven more payments, financed for 5 years. I had it towed to Saturn of Florence where they told us the transmission was shot and it would cost $6000.00 to replace it. They said nothing to us about a history of failure with these transmissions. Expecting a transmission replacement to be no more than $2500.00, we started to inquire and found out on the phone with Saturn Corp that this specialized transmission cost so much because they don't make them anymore or use them anymore in their new cars.
My car had 86,000 miles, so they offered no assistance. Not only that, their repair estimate was higer than AAMCO, who had to buy the transmission from them and repair it for us, showing they actually will make money on our repair. I felt since they knew the transmissions were faulty since 2002, they should have replaced it at cost, offering their customers as much assistance as possible, but they repeatedly turned me down, and their last email even said they would not reply on my request again.
We paid AAMCO almost $5,700 to repair it, and they offered AAMCO only 12,000 miles warranty on it. Just long enough
to finish paying for it, and we are without warranty again.
I learned of a Class Action Suit Against Saturn Vue and Ion transmissions by owners from twelve different states recently, started in California, October 2007. The only hope I have is that the federal judge will require Saturn/GMAC to reemburse the working people for repairs so we recover from this burden. My husband retired this year and this was a burden on us. I will never trust Saturn again or GMAC.

I own a 2003 Saturn Vue, my complaint is that the alarm system kept going off randomly and the door locks kept locking and unlocking (whether the car was on or not). We took it into the Saturn dealer at the West location in Wichita and were told it was the BCM (which is one of the main computers). It is 462.00 to replace and it affects most of the electrical components in the car.
We were told by the service manager that the computer in the car was like buying a home computer, sometimes you get a good one and sometimes you don't. I took this as if you buy a Saturn, you are taking a chance. We bought the car brand new and have never had an accident. There is only 51,000 miles on the car. The customer rep at Saturn's 1-800-553-6000 number agreed it should have lasted longer but would only agree to take $100.00 off of the bill.

i purchased a 2003 saturn vue in august 2007 from a local dealership. just a few months later i find out that the transmission is bad and it is a common problem in the vues.

I have a 2003 saturn vue. After twice in the first 20 months of having the trans worked on, now with my car being over 5 years old and 69,000 miles I had to have the entire transmission replaced. It cost $5000 and the dealer split the cost with me, so I still had to pay $2500. I am scared about this VTI transmission, and that even the new one will fail and cause me more problems and money. I am already working with the Lakin law firm on the issue.

I purchased a used 2003 Saturn Vue in July 06. In February 07 the transmission was winding out and not changing gears. Within 3 weeks Saturn serviced the transmission and replaced it 3 times. The last time they had it for 7 days and gave me a rental for the last 2 after I asked for one. It is 13 monthe later and the transmission is again bad. I took it to Saturn on Thursday 4/3/08. They called and said it was ready. I picked the car up at 7:30 am on Friday 4/4/08, drove it to work. By 12:30 lunch the car would not go over 5 mph.
Saturn towed my car from and gave me another rental. During the course of the day I called the corpret office twice. When they called me back at 5 pm, the woman I spoke with told me because I am past the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty, and past the 5 year /75,000 mile warranty on that particular transmission that since Saturn is replacing it for free I should not be angry.
They made me feel like they were doing me a favor when in fact if the transmission was not bad to begin with, they would not have had to add the extended warranty. She said they stand by their cars 100% and they are reliable. I don't think a vehicle needing several transmissions within 20,000 miles usage is not reliable.
I think people should be aware of the shady way Saturn conducts business because the problem with the transmission was never even made public. At least not to my knowledge so other people who are covered by lemon law may not even know about this . They also told me since it wasn't costing me so I should be happy but I had to add a bumper to bumper warranty on it that cost $2,000.
I have lost time and money and clearly my respect.
I drive a car that can not be trusted and from what I've read thus far there have been a lot of dissatisfied customers.

I purchased a used '03 Saturn Vue with preferred protection plan on 9-10-07 From Saturn of Arlington. On 3-17-08 a squeaking noised started coming from the steering wheel. My wife took it to Saturn of Houston for repair and was told that it was the intermediate shaft and would not be covered under my warranty. My warranty clearly states that the steering is covered under my warranty plan. I called Saturn of Arlington and the sales manager acknowledged this was a common GM problem and that it should be covered but he could not help me since I now live in Houston and Saturn dealers are privately owned. My wife was charged $95.00 just for diagnosing this issue.
I called the Saturn Corporation and they said that because it was not a new Saturn that they could not help me because Saturn Dealers are privately owned and the warranty I purchased was third party. I then called Saturn and told them to refund my warranty. They then said that they would fax me the paperwork to cancel the warranty but after three requests I still have not received the papers to do so.
I am out $95.00 and still have a problem that I paid $2000 to warranty against.

i purchased a used saturn vue 2003 from them in june of 2006. i started to have problem with the rear. i brought the car back to them and they repaired the damage and charged me $100.00 and the balance of the repairs went on my warranty. i noticed on saturns recall page that this was a recall repair. why was i charged $100.00 for something that was recalled?http://www.consumeraffairs.com/recalls04/vue_recall.html i have now stoppped useing danbury chevrolet and now only take my car to saturn dealer.
i am out $100.00 for something that wasnt my fault.

After reading all the reports from people I'm not suprised by my situation in the least. I bought a 5 speed manual 2000 Saturn Vue in March of 2006, used from a Kia dealership, with around 40,000 miles on it. It now has around 80,000 and I can't shift into 2nd, 4th, or reverse gears. If I make the mistake of parking in a parking space that I have to revers from (not thinking about it) I have to shift it into reverse, get under the hood, and manually put the gear box into reverse. Otherwise all I hear is grinding and then it slips out of gear. I have to shift from 1st, 3rd, to 5th while driving. I'm glad I read these reports before the entire transmission went out.
Now i actually have time to get another car and stay away from saturns. I was really happy with it up until now and I thought they were good cars until I heard about all the problems.
It stands to cause great economical damage if i can't get a new car before the transmission totally goes out on me. I use my car for work and I have to drive to client locations all over the metroplex area. If I don't have a car, I can't work.

This is not a complaint about the cars themselves, but about the company. In November, Saturn announced their hybird VUE (a crossover) would be available by Christmas, so we put $500 down toward one. Christmas came, and the cars were not delievered. They did arrive in January, but in small numbers and not in the colors we requested. Now it is March, and Saturn has just told me that the VUE hybrids will not be available until MAY. This is infuriating. I really want a hybrid, and I really want a minivan--but there ARE no hybrid minivans in the U.S. My wife really wants an American car, so we're forced toward the Ford Escape, which is painful for me to enter, because of my arthritic hip. And American automobile companies wonder why their sales are so low.

I purchased a 2008 VUE the last week of Nov and the cd player did not work the first week I purchased it. In February when I went to New Mexico the first time my daughter used the DVD player in the back it did not work and just yesterday, a eng light went on in my car that had approx 3650 miles and had only a few miles when I purchased it and I was told today it is a cylinder head in the Engine that needs to be replaced.
I am not a mechanic but it sounds pretty serious to me, I said that I wanted a new car and under the uniform commercial code Section 2-601 the gal who sold me the car said, I can tell you right now you are not getting a new car. MMM, is this a violation of the law??? I think so. There is more to the story, but I think everyone gets the gist that my car is a lemon and I do not want it repaired because once that warranty expires, it is my expense. Ugh!

I am the original owner of a 2003 Saturn VUE. My timing chain went without warning. Fortunately, it was parked in my driveway. I had the car towed to Midas up the road and they quoted me $8400 for a new engine. I had the car towed again at my own cost and expense (AAA would not tow twice) to Saturn of Route 31. I did not need a new battery but the timing chain had popped off and done damage to valves, etc. I am stuck with a repair bill that was both unexpected and unaffordable.
tow cost $123.00, repair bill $1600 plus. Fortunately, Midas did not have the nerve to bill me!!

My wife was on her way home from work and the saturn 2003 vue rolled to a stop.I had to tow the suv back to my home because,I no it was out of warrarty. It only was 90,197 of the miles, but I think it souldn't have happen this soon because it is 100,000 miles before you service the transmission. There was no warning to the transmission problems no service lights came on,I was never informed about the faulty transmission.
Saturn was aware of the problems with the VTI tramsmission and that is why it is no longer used. Now my truck is at the dealership because it is undrivable. The service representitive told me it something that went out in the transmission, and it cost to much for the repairs, that not customer service to me. Saturn told me thy will pay for the parts and was to pay for the labor.
Now am stuck with a vehicle that will no run.

The slave cylinder in the hydraulic clutch of my 2005 Saturn VUE went last night when I was in my way home from work - actually while coasting up to the EZPass lane to exit the NJ Turnpike! Talk about dangerous! I power-shifted the last few miles home and immediately took it to the nearest Saturn dealership. Lori from Saturn of Bordentown called me first thing the next morning to say that they had diagnosed the problem: fluid was leaking from the slave cylinder bell housing and that it will cost more than $1500 to repair because the transmission has to be removed from the engine to do it!
And, to top it off, my 3 year (the car is only 2.5 years old)/ 36,000 mile warranty will not cover it because I have 43,000 miles on the vehicle! Will somebody please tell me how an impeccably-drived standard transmission goes in under 50,000 miles?! Every other car I have owned went well past 100,000 on its first clutch, so I feel certain that my driving (all highway, by the way) has nothing to do with this problem. So I guess I am going to be left holding the bag for Saturn's costly design choices and for what I believe is a faulty part?! Thanks, GM. You really make it hard to buy American!

My 2003 Saturn VUE has had a series of problems. Bad rotor bearing, bad steering column, bad alarm system, and now (2 weeks after the warranty expired) the speedometer is stuck, which calls for a $650 replacement of the instrument panel. A friend bought my old SL2 and it is going strong, but I'll definitely go elsewhere for my next SUV.

I purchased my Saturn Vue brand new in 2003. I have had the security chip in the computer malfunction, the main pipe welded to the catalytic converter snap off while slowly crossing a set of railroad tracks that were rough. The car was rocking back and forth due to the road surface. In getting the pipe welded back on it was discovered that my transmission supports were all loose with no boots. I had driven the car for approximately 21/2 years with that problem.
Now the crowning glory, with 79,000 miles my timing chain broke. This is the very first brand new car I have ever owned and in any of my previous cars I have never had this problem. I have been told that the engine is destroyed. The transmission is not shifting correctly and to make this a totally enjoyable nightmare my warranty expired 75000 miles.
I researched buying this car for 1/1/2 years before finally purchasing. I wanted to support the American product. Not anymore. Saturn states their products are dependable, reliable, etc. WHO are they kidding. As far as I am concern this is a new way of spelling Vega.

Saturn Vue - transmission 'went up'. When driving it would 'chug' (which we had told them before but they could not replicate and said nothing was wrong.) It kept chugging intermittently over a year, then finally chugged itself right down to nothing. Left me on the side of the road. Towed it to Saturn who said the transmission had gone up and it needed to be replaced - to the tune of 6500.00. Had it back about 3 months and had the EXACT same problem. Took it back, they said - 'some transmissions have had defects'. They did put in a new one (supposedly) at no cost, and said the manifold needed to be replaced which we declined at the time. Drove it off the lost and the car cut off on the way home. Family member felt like maybe the 'timing' or idle was set too low. Drove it another day - it cut off three times in traffic. DANGEROUS! Called Saturn and their reply was - we DID tell you the manifold needed to be replaced. Um, no - don't think thats it. Just FIX the car right. After a 6500.00 dollar repair its unlikely I can afford anything else. VERY disappointed to say the least.

Out of the blue the VTI transmission on my 2003 Saturn Vue blew. I was informend that I can't rebuild the transmission. There are no parts availavle because Saturn does not use the VTI transmission anymore becuase of all the problems it had. There was no warning to the transmission problem- no service lights came on, and I was never informed about the faulty transmission. Saturn was aware of the problems with the VTI transmissions and that is why it is no longer used. Now my car is at the dealership becuase it is undrivable. The service representitive could not tell me if my car was safe to drive- he said it was in bad shape.

I am not complaining about the Saturn dealership, as they have been supportive, and indicated ignition should be recalled.
2006 VUE has been in the shop 4 times for key getting stuck in ignition or key will not turn. Ignition has been replaced, along with the housing. I am going to look into the lemon law. A lifetime warranty on the ignition is not the answer. The answer is a car that is dependable.
This is our fourth Saturn, but will NEVER buy another one.
I have been stuck in my car in 100 plus degree temperature because they key would not turn. I have also been stuck in my car as they key would not release after I parked.

We own a 2003 Saturn Vue that has had transmission problems from the get go. At 45'000 miles we broke down & took the vehicle to Saturn where we were told that the transmissions in our vehicle is faulty . They ended up completely rebuilding the transmission. Now at over 85'000 miles, on Christmas night in the middle of a busy lane of traffic, we completely broke down with our 2 year old in the car. This was a terrifying experience that I never would have expected from a vehicle with our mileage. We just had the transmission serviced 2 months ago as per Saturns recommendation.
Now after our ordeal Saturn has (ha-ha) offered to pay for 25% of the repair costs which leaves our cost @ $3,200 or they are willing to give us $1000 as a trade in for our vehicle which is in perfect condition aside from their faulty transmission. This is all to fix a vehicle that we are still financing and I will not be able to drive my family in any more because it is unreliable. After seeing the multitude of complaints on-line about this same issue it seems as if Saturn would want to try and rectify this problem before it costs them outrageous amounts of money in law suits and lost business. Luckily no-one was physically hurt in our situation as a result of breaking down like we did but it is only a matter of time. We just got lucky in that respect because we were inches away from being hit numerous times.

I own a 2005 saturan vue that has a shifting defect. the vehicle has 59,000 miles on it and a smzll nylon bushing on the shifter broke, needless to say the extended warranty is no godd i was told. I attempted to buy the bushing from saturan in boise Idaho and was told the only way to fix the breakdown was to purcase a whole shifter assembly for 260.00 dollors when i know the bushing could have been replaced in 3 minuets. I looked on the internet and found numerous people that have had the same problems and saturan has a very poor customer service. I feel the manufacture should be made to have a recall for this reocurring problem with the hard to shift transmission.

I have to tell you how disappointed I am with Saturn cars and customer service, I have owned my Saturn Vue for just under 4 years. I recently needed to purchase an engine (bits of timing chain in the oil pain) (my car only had 38,000 miles on it) I did purchase the extended warranty but due to lack of maintenance on my end it was not covered. I have had my car back 4 weeks .. its been in the shop 5X in this time period 2x for engine light on and the rest a hose keeps popping off... I AM DONE with SATURN.. I want mine fixed so I can sell it.. The worst part is I bought the car because it was reliable.

I have three complaints after the purchase of our Saturn Vue in September 2007 from the Saturn dealership in Des Moines, Iowa. This was our second new Saturn Vue from them.
Complaint #1) We purchased a new 2008 Saturn Vue. Our driveway is under an oak tree. Within 10 days the Saturn had over 27 hail type dents from dropping acorns. Our other car, a 1997 Malibu, has been in this driveway for 1.5 years and has only one or two similar dents over that time. I am very concerned that this new Saturn sheetmetal is so thin that it will always dent way too easily. Took the car to your dealership for an estimate. They estimated over $2000 to repair dents and paint the fender, hood, and roof. After anguish from my wife that her new car would have to be painted, we took the car 1 block away from that dealership to Dent Eliminators, a paintless dent removal shop. They had numerous Saturn vehicles from the same dealership in their shop for repair. They repaired all dents perfectly in .5 day with NO painting for a total of $350. There was absolutely no need for paint repair. I was shaken and dismayed by the dealership's $1650 difference in estimate for the same repair and, to be honest, suspicious that it would have been done at Dent Eliminators anyway with the dealership picking up a 400% profit at the customer's expense.
Complaint #2) At time of purchase, we were sold a protection called Saturn Guard for the paint, seats, etc. We were told it covered everything if we had a seat or carpet stain or stain problem with the paint. When I asked to see the actual verbiage of the warranty, it was not available but we were convincingly promised it covers everything. Unwisely, I purchased it for $495. Later I again asked for the actual verbiage on the warranty since the brochure states Limited. They said they had to order it. Three weeks later I came out and they finally had it. In reading that verbiage, it is not covered as presented. In fact, just about any normal issue or problem could be denied within the warranty verbiage. Even the floor mats are disclaimed. We spoke to dealer (Joe) about this. He said not to worry as he would cover any problems. This was verbal. He said he would write something up. We have not received any such thing from him or Saturn.
Complaint #3) We sat and supplied all the info when we bought the vehicle as they typed it into the computer. We specifically gave them the name and address of our lien holder on the vehicle. We also asked them specifically to spell my wife's name correctly as it is often misspelled. Six weeks later the lien holder called us and said our insurance did not list a lien holder. Then two weeks later the lien holder said they had not received the title. We then received the title from Saturn directly to us rather than the lien holder. They had misspelled my wife's name, listed the vehicle color as Unknown, and checked No Lien Holder on the title. We had to correct the title at the court house and at the insurance company to straighten it all out.
We called and wrote to the Saturn dealership on the first two complaints. They emailed back that they would present the complaint to the manager and respond quickly. It has been over 60 days with no response. We will no longer buy from them.

Help!! I am having serious issues with my 2006 Saturn Vue. About one week ago I noticed I was having problems with the car alarm and thought maybe the battery on the key chain needed replacing- but that was not the case. I guess it was a sign of more to come. The car refused to start and was not registering gas, nor would the vehicle turn off lights after they had bee turned on. No one could determine what was wrong so the vehicle was subsequently towed to Saturn.
The customer service was absolutely horrible and demeaning. While the battery was replaced under warranty they made me feel like an idiot- telling me I had left a light on in the vehicle. I explained that no light had been left on and how I had turned on the dome light just to see what was working and then was not able to turn it off. I do not know about cars but told them how it seemed the battery was being drained by something else. They disagreed then told me that it was odd that three other Saturn Vues had come in with the same problem. Come on now- we don't have to be mechanics to understand something is definitely wrong. I've had the car back in my possession for thee days and the battery is not staying charged - again.... I can't find anything online about this problem, but am really concerned that Saturn is not taking this seriously.

My Saturn Vue began making a slight tapping sound which became increasingly louder within a range of about 15 miles before the engine died and would no longer start. I took the car in to determine the cause of the problem and found out that the timing chain tentioner screws had backed themselves out and caused the valves to bend in the motor.
This car had a lower end motor replaced 2 months prior to my purchasing the vehicle and without any subsequent disclosure to me. I had the car for 1 day and found that the engine was slipping and took it in for service. At that time the transmission was repaired extensively. Now 30,000 miles later, I have a blown up motor. I have tried to get Saturn's customer service dept to help me with this however they are unwilling to fully replace what I feel is a lemon motor. Every mechanic that I have talked to concerning this matter has assured me, that this should not have happened. Even Saturn technicians themselves!!

I had a creaky noise in the front of my 2005 Saturn Vue. The dealership said the front stabilizer links needed to be replaced. The car was in service for about two and one half years. It had 39,371 miles on it so the repair was not covered under warranty.

We purchased a new Hybrid Vue June 1 2007. The Traction Control light came on 6/10/07 and I took the car into Saturn of Gwinnett on 6/12/07. Some other things weren't quite right 5th gear took a long time to engage around the 70mph mark and gas mileage was way less than advertised. The light of course went out by the time I got it to the dealership according to their computer nothing was wrong.
Second trip in was 7/10/07 until 07/12/07. Traction control light had come on again and the doors would not always unlock when key was removed from ignition. Of course nothing was wrong- and I was told to keep a log of mileage and receipts of gas purchased. My husband took the car back to the Cary dealership in NC at the beginning of August with receipts. They kept the car for 6 days, but nothing was wrong.
We were informed that the engine takes a while to break in and somewhere around 50,000 miles we would get the advertised mileage. The check engine light came on 9/13 car was taken back to Saturn of Gwinnett on 9/15 and a recall part was replaced. My husband picked the car up that day, went next door to the gas station, when he turned the car back on the check engine light was back on. Service had already gone for the day so he had to leave the car.
Saturday we were told a part had to be ordered and would be there Monday. The part finally came in on 15th of October, unfortunately it did not fix the problem. We contacted Saturn corporate and started a file on 9/18/07. We get continued conflicting information from Jessica at corporate and the service team at Saturn of Gwinnett.
On 9/22/07 we were told by the service team that it would be probably 6 to 8 weeks before our first part arrived.
On 9/25 Jessica said that was ridiculous the piece would be there within the week. When we received her call on 10/12 that the part was still not in, we then informed her that we planned on exercising our lemon law rights and would be mailing that letter later that day. Amazingly 20 minutes later she called to inform me that the part came in. A call to the service department the following day revealed that to be false. We are currently waiting on a new hybrid battery. I was told by the service department that noone could give them an estimated ship date on the part, of course Jessica continues to say it will be here either the end of the week or the beginning of next week depending on what day it is we are speaking to each other.
Bottom line is we still don't have the car and they of course can't give us any idea when we might get it back. However, they really only have 6 days left to get it fixed before lemon laws kick in.
I had to get a rental car and take it up to my husband - he lives in North Carolina, I'm in Georgia (a work transfer) and we haven't had our car since 9/15.

2007 Saturn Hybrid VUE did not get the mpg as adverised (27-32)--I only got an average of 23 mpg....and then a recall was issued to help correct this situation by installing a harness (electrical related).; however in the meantime the side effects of not having this procedure happened.
My car shut off going around a curve and then all of a sudden sped up and one night 9/27/07 as I was parking my car in our garage the car suddenly accelerated without me pushing down on the accelerator and the brakes would not work. I was scared beyond belief and more scared because once it hit the drywall inside the garage it finally came to a stop and I put it in reverse only to experienece the same acceleration only in the opposite direction until I finally got it to stop.
The front bumper area of my car was damaged and parts of it should be replaced. My garage drywall and closet on the other side need to be replaced and a Giant mountain bike needs to be replaced. I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle and it is still at Saturn of Lancaster and they are letting me drive a rental car at their expense.

2003 vue 4 cyl. all the gears were stripped in the rack and pinion steering. had to be replaced as there was no steering at all. i wanted to go one way, it wanted to go another.

I owned a new 2003 Saturn Vue (automatic transmission, 4 cylinder engine). I was forced to part with this vehicle a few months ago after numerous transmission problems. These breakdowns are widespread in Vues that used to be equipped with CVT transmissions.
My problems began at approximately 70K miles (i.e., stalling, power-loss, gear-slippage, and odd noises from the drive-train). Interestingly, I had (a few months before) received a letter from Saturn informing me that they were extending the factory warranty on the CVT transmission to 75K miles. I didn't think much about it at the time, but saved the letter anyway. Thankfully, my Vue fell under this mileage cap and I was able to have the transmission replaced at no cost (a job estimated to run between $5k-$6K). I drove the car with the rebuilt tranny for approximately one year, then the same problems started to pop up again.
I brought the car back to the dealer and was advised that my best course of action was to get rid of it before the rebuilt transmission failed (I did this, trading the car in for a used Toyota..no more Saturns for me!). The basic problem with the CVT transmission was that it was just too small for the Vue. The same transmission was (and still may be) used in Saturn's Ion. After a certain number of miles, it simply burns out. Unfortunately, the rebuilt transmission won't last more than 30K miles. My advice to anyone suffering this problem is to ask about the extended transmission warranty (assuming your Vue has less than 75K miles), or dump the car ASAP.
Thankfully, I was able to get rid of mine before suffering a catastrophic failure. I've read numerous online posts from people who've had hairy experiences with Vues stopping in the middle of highway traffic, etc.
I was discouraged about having to get rid of the car, as I was only three months from paying it off. In addition, the problem with this Vue model must be well-known in the auto industry, because it's difficult to get decent trade-in value. Nevertheless, I feel much better driving a more reliable car. I've bought several cars from my Saturn dealership, and feel they dealt with me fairly in a tough situation.

Bought a 2003 Saturn vue with 53000 miles onit. I was told that 53000 was nothing on that type of vehicle. I pay 12000 for it.1 week after buying it, the tranny was acting up, making noises, shifting hard. Icalled, they looked at it, told me it was just the way these vihicles shifted. Two weeks later I called back and askare you sure???? something just isnt right I was told again oh its nothing mam, your just used to a different kind of tranny. So I have been driving it for 6 months, and my warranty is expired, I was not offered another extended warranty and idnt bother to fight further on it...now I wish I had. I am a traveling nurse Im from PA but I drove down to Fl to work for a year. The other night I was driving to work and the car just stopped. DEAD. In the middle of no where, In a town, state where I know no one. Alone. It cost me $150.00 to tow, $50.00 for a taxi and then $100.00 for Saturn to look at it. It is the tranny, I was right. Its gone. I was told atleast 2500.00-6000.They are not sure yet. Here I am in another state, I owe 11000 on the vehicle. And Saturn will not lift one finger to help any of us out of this jam.I could have been another statistic sitting along that desolate highway so men before you go and buy your wife think of this.....it does happen to alot of saturn owners. And this multi million dollar company will do NOTHING to help. So now I am renting a car to get to work...out of my own pocket and I have a car that I dont know what to do with. If I trade it, I will lose a ton of money. IF I let them repo it, there goes my credit. And Im a single mom, $6000.00 just isnt in my budeget. DONT buy from Saturn. Your better off with Japenese cars.

I signed a lease on a brand new 2004 Saturn Vue in June of 2004. The first few months with the car were fine. Soon I hear of a massive recall on the vehicle where supposedly the rear axle was unsafe Soon I was contacted by Saturn to come in for a complimentary repair of this problem. Fine, whatever, recalls happen.
At this point, I beleive all is well and safe. Within the first year (under 10K miles) I am driving down the road and the horn begins to sound without being touched. Scares the ever living heck out of me and continues until I made it home (amongst many akward stares) and was able to turn off vehicle. My husband removed the fuse for the horn (which also deactivates the air bags (as per instruction of Saturn Service of Route 23) until they were able to replace the whole assembly. Okay, its just a horn.
Next I am driving my vehicle along when as I make right hand turns a VERY load grinding noise occurs. (under 20k miles) I immidiately call the service department and bring the car in (every trip is 1 and 1/2 hours round trip pick up and drop off which is 3 total hours per incident). Again this problem is repaired.
So upon picking my vehicle up once again, and driving the car 45 minutes home from the dealer with three children in the car, I get home and turn off the vehicle. I realise I forgot milk on my way home and restart the vehicle. To my surprise, the gas pedal drops to the floor. I immediately call my husband and turn off the ignition. Upon inspection, we realize that the slave cylinder has EXPLODED on to my driveway. I caall service (where I just ppicked up my car 45 minutes earlier) and they ask me to bring the car down. I then ask how exactly they suggest I drive a manual vehicle with NO SLAVE CYLINDER. Okay, I am angry now.
A few hours later, the road side assistance shows up and tows my car to Saturn of Route 23. problem is confirmed and they replace the slave cylinder and tell me that they must also now replace the clutch because they are concerned that the fluid from the slave cylinder may have come in contact with the clutch. So I give the okay, as it is all under warrenty.
Igo 4 days later to pick up the vehicle and look at the repair sheet to see that ONLY the slave cylinder has been replaced and not the clutch. The continue to say that that repair was not necessary .
Get the car home drives fine for a few months. Driving down the road and my Decreased engine power, and service engine soon lights come on. I loose acceleration down to a crawl.
I again bring in car , they tell me that the break pedal assembly has shorted and needs to be replaced and is not on hand so will take a few days to order.
I pick up vehicle, again. Next week the problem happens again. I bring vehicle in, leave it again for 3 days and they said that a wire was loose and all was well
Next, while driving the car begins to hum. Bring car in, wheel berrings are shot and need to be replaced, and passenger window control needs repair.
They tell me that my warranty has expired (even though I purchased the extended warranty). They say they have no record of my warranty. I present them with the receipt from the original date of sale and magically the extended warranty appears in their files and the finally register it (3 years after purchase). I am charged 100 dollars plus tax as a deductable and go on my way (AGAIN)
A few days later I have the car lights(service engine soon, and reduced engine power)come on and loose engine power again. This time in the middle of nowhere. I call and get the hassle about the warranty again and need a tow. The road side assistance has no record of my extended warranty and tell me i will be charged for the tow. I then have them call Saturn of Route 23 and confirm the warranty and RELUCTANTLY assign me a tow. They call me (a few days later) and tell me that my ECM (Engine Control Module)has shorted and that it is covered under a nationally funded emissions warranty. Yeha, fix it I say.
Pick up car (another 1 and 1/2 hour drive) get home. Next day go to work (20 minute ride) go to leave work and lights come on AGAIN. I call and the service guy (who now recognises my voice) tells me it just be that it wasnt reset, although iI insist that the lights were not on when I left the lot last night. So on my way to bringing the car in AGAIN in, the lights pop on and engine dies (i know how this one is gonna end, something shorted). So I bring it in, get a ride to come pick me up as the last 4 times they have not had loaner cars INCLUDED In my warranty, and leave the vehicle
Few days later (5 to be exact) they call and tell me they contacted the head quarters and they have been advised to rewire vehicle end to end. Okay fine WHATEVER< DO IT.
So you can see the anger.
Go to pick up car, open hood to see replaced wires to see raw wires loose in engine compartment wrapped occassionally with electrical tape (also loose in spots in engine compartment). Confront only manager at Saturn of Route 23 to tell us well I cant say it is the best repair, but it should be safe.....what do ya want me to tell you.....all I can do is stand here and shake my head WHAT
Whatever, maybe problem is solved, I am just gonna hand this LEMON back in 10 months. Next day, driving down the road and go to change radio stations and radio shutts off. If I want to change stations without shutting off radio,,,,,well I haven't figured out how yet. So we call. They tell us bring it on down I REFUSE!!! I am so fed up. If anyone know s what I can do, please help. I am out THOUSANDS of dollars here. I bought a new car so it would be dependable. NOw what

My 2003 Saturn VUE is experiencing regular transmission problems. For the past six months, I have encountered the following: the vehicle dropping out of gear while traveling (stops and starts), inability to shift into higher gear (high RPM with reduced speed and loud whirring noises), inability to back up or advance forward.
After having the car checked (I should note that it was not at my local Saturn dealership because I have encountered faulty service and over-inflated costs), I paid approximately $1,000 in transmission issues (cracked module, axle leak, transmission fluid replacement) and the problems persist. At the time that I bought this car (2004), I did extensive research into the vehicle, but it was only after purchasing the vehicle that I began to see reports of extensive transmission issues. Saturn has yet to recall the transmission but stopped using that particular piece in future vehicles - but drivers of this model are stuck with lemons.
I have repeatedly experienced sudden speed drops in busy traffic and have twice had to pull over on the side of busy highways to try to restart my vehicle because the car would not shift. This has almost resulted in accidents, has left me with high repair bills and otherwise made me nervous about driving my car.

I have a 2003 Saturn Vue with the same problem described by so many others. If the steering wheel is in the locked position the key will not turn. We have to jiggle the steering wheel while applying steady pressure to the key to get it to turn. My wife can't get it to turn at all. We switched to the back-up key which has never been used and it does not make a difference. I called and was told write away that it was a $450 repair.
I have already had to drive out to where my wife and 2 year old are on two occassions to bail her out. It is truly dissapointing when it is obvious that a company is putting dollars in front of customers. I am in the market for two new cars before the end of the year and I can guarantee that I will not be buying another Saturn.

I have a 2007 Vue that seems to be having steering problems. The steering locks up, twice while being driven and several times when I get in and try to start it. After I had it in the shop at Saturn from having it lock up while driving and having to have it towed, I had a incident with it locking up on me doing 75 on an interstae while hyroplaning and ended up spinning several times and ending up in a creek. Have reported it to my Saturn dealership and they seem to not believe me. Wondering if anyone has had same or similar problems with this vehicle and what I should do about it before I get killed.

I have a 2003 Saturn Vue. I have been hearing clicking noises under the vehicle since 2004 but Saturn says nothing is wrong with it. A few months back I noticed you could use any key to start my vehicle. I also can take my key out of the ignitin while it is in the park position, and my Vue is still running. I called Honolulu Satrn today to make an appointment. We will see what they say tomorrow, however she told me it's not under warranty so it is the owners responsibility to cover costs. With all the complaints I have read online, you would think Saturn would initiate a recall of some sort.

I bought a 2003 Saturn Vue from a local used car dealer. It ran fine on my initial checkout, but when I got homw the transmission was making a loud noise. There was no warranty so I took it to several transmission shops and no one knew how to work on it. It is a different kind of transmission. Simpler, with belts and pulleys. The Saturn dealer quoted $4000 to replace the trans with a new one. I took it to Aamco and they said $1595 labor plus parts. and with a 12 month warranty. I thought, how much could the parts cost?
It turns out the total cost to rebuilt the transmission is $4500. Good grief! That's almost as much as I paid for the whole car. If I say no, then they will put the car back together and still charge me the $1595 labor. I wish that I had never bought a Saturn vue, and that I never went to Aamco.
