Karin of New Milford CT (6/14/04):
My Saturn 2002 SL2 was lost in an engine fire. At the time I thought it was due to the oil filter change I had just received, but my Insurance Comapny and the Fire Marshall (of my town) both looked at it and deemed it an electrical fire. I was the only one in the car at the time of the fire and luckily I pulled into a nearby shopping center to call 911 and watch my car go up in flames!

Anyway, I went back and forth with everyone about the car and still am. Saturn found a crack in the engine, and won't give me documentation that they believed it came from the oil change. They will put down that it wasn't electrical, but are hiding their findings about the crack. Also, no one else found this crack but them, so is it a defect? I told Saturn that if they backed me with the oil information I would go after the oil co that did the change and use their documentation for legal purposes. But, they refused to put that conclusion in writing.

The only conclusion I can come up with is that Saturn truly doesn't know what happened to cause this fire and is afraid to point fingers. I have 2 experts stating electrical fire and Saturn stating nothing. I also took out a huge warranty on the car and no one cares about it. Saturn is completely dismissing me and I am left without a car and no way to get a new one. Where's my picnic?

My car was a complete loss, along with any personal items in it at the time. I have lost out on the monies I placed into the car and have no monies for a down payment on a new one.
