NTB - Tire Quality

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I went in for oil change on my Chevy Impala 2003. It only has 36M miles. The service tech came in and had a flyer with different color circles. The first was coolant (it was fine), next was battery(bad) and then brakes (bad). They said that I needed to have the brake fluid drained and fluid replaced. I told him we're not going that route. I told him that I was pretty sure I had the battery replaced in 2011 and we would go out to the car and I would check. Sure enough, I had replaced it on April 2011. His remark was, "Well, let me check again. Oh, I must have hooked it up wrong." I told him, "Don't try to cheat a senior citizen because it will come back to bite you." Now, the crowning was my car takes 4.5 quarts of oil. Most I have ever paid for is 5 qt. They charged me for 6 qt. Needless to say, I will never return to that shop in Raymore, MO.

Brought my 2004 Mazda RX8 into a NBT store located in Manassas, VA to have my four existing wheels removed and replaced with 4 new Boss 304 Chrome after market wheels I had recently purchased. The store manager, I believe his name is Will gave me a very hard time about doing the install and insisted I sign a waiver in case one of his installers happened to damage or scratch the chrome finish. As I was leaving the store, one of the part-time installers named Josh or Jason assured me that his experience and expertise with mounting these kind of wheels could be completed by him without scratching the wheels.

So, I went back into the store and conveyed the conversation I had with Jason/Josh and he finally agreed to do the install only after I signed the waiver.

First, the install took nearly five hours! I had to wait while they all ate pizza. Jason walked around the shop, took his time and finally started the install after about an an hour of waiting. No problem, I am a patient customer. Finally after five hours and no apparent scratches, the job was completed and I was a happy camper.

The next morning, when I went to get into my RX8, I noticed both right side tires were flat. I inflated the tires and took the car back to NTB in Manassas. They removed the wheels and discover the TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system valve was leaking air around mit base where to fits into the wheel. After trying 2 different TPMS rebuid kits, they were still unsuccessful in stopping the leak and finally had to resort to using regular tire valve stems. The leaks were stopped but now I have anew problem. The manager never did a thing to help rectify the situation, never tried to help, never offered to obtain another type of TPMS, or anything. In fact he ignored me and the situation.

Yesterday, I noticed my front left tire is now going flat and from spraying bit of soapy water around the valve, I could see bubbles forming which indicates another leaky TPMS valve. The results after going to NBT was three leaky tires and a team of so-called experienced, professional wheel/tire installers and a disengaged manager unable to fix the issue or even make any attempt to fix the problem. I suggested, he contact the wheel manufacturer but he flat refused. He could have call a Mazda dealer but would not. All he wanted to do was get me out of the door as quickly as possible with three leaky tires, unsafe to say the least and I could have had a flat on the highway and done real damage to my new wheels, my car and perhaps even my self.

NBT agreed to install these wheels and fortunately they didn't scratch anything. However, my tires all leak and now I have to go to another tire place and pay them to correct this issue. I don't believe I should have to pay NBT for what they did since my tires are in worse condition now than when I brought my car in. My tires didn't leak before. I feel Will could have done a bit of research, made some calls and made the effort a real manager who cares about delivering excellent customer services would do.

Instead he couldn't care less about me, my car, my wheels or the situation at hand. I think I should have a refund since I am afraid to take my car back there. They are not professionals and now I am left with three leaky tires. The tires are Yokohama and very expensive low-profile tires.

This store's workmanship was sub-par to say the least. The manager was disengaged and did absolutely nothing to assist me or his installers to find a solution to the problem. As a result, my car does not function as it is supposed to. My tire pressure monitoring system light stay on. They told me to put black tape over it. That TPMS systems were nothing but a "pain in the **. "

I would caution any unsuspecting consumer to think twice before bringing their car to this NBT store in Manassas, VA. They run the risk of leaving with their car or truck in worse condition than when they started.

Very poor customer service. Although the installers had positive attitudes, they were inexperienced and unable to troubleshoot the problem. Rather than find a solution, they did what they could to get rid of me. Oh, they did take my money! I want my money back, I full refund to which I believe I am fully entitled since they didn't complete the job. Thank you very much.

I paid $332 for repair to tie rod and 4 wheel alignment services. The alignment was done incorrectly. I returned for repairs and was told that the required scanner was no longer available. NTB was unable to correctly align the car and will not return the money paid.

It was almost closing time when we got there, but my daughter's tire was completely flat and had special tire locks on them. I could not change the tire. So we drove to the closest tire store, NTB Tires on Joppa Road.

We were told (by the salesperson) it was almost closing but could leave the car there overnight (Saturday, July 23) and they would work on it the following day (Sunday, July 24). (I should also add that on the way to NTB, the tire actually blew out.) I would be paying the total cost of four tires, tire disposal fee, MD Tire Recycling Fee, etc. on their credit card yet they still needed both our names separately. I signed the invoice for the total bill of $658.12.

When they rang up our bill, there was a problem with the computer (and printer) that the sales person could not figure out. The manager came out, joggled wires, and struggled with the computer. Finally he moved something on the underside of the computer and got it working.

I later received a bill from NTB saying I owe $1,212.77. I immediately went to the store to question them about this figure. They checked the computer records and verified my bill. They asked me if I had come twice in the same day and made an additional purchase! You gotta be kidding! I didn't charge $554.65. I have my signed bill as proof of my purchase. I did charge $658.12 for tires for my daughter's car. This (overcharge) problem was checked out at the store level and was verified. I was then handed the phone to talk to someone at NTB Credit at the store.

Is this an example of their professionalism? The woman I talked to asked me if the manager knew how to correct this problem; I gave him the phone back, he said no, he did not know, then handed the phone back to me. Professionalism? She suggested that I pay the minimum amount due ($25) and then give them a call when I get the next statement. (I have paid the minimum payment due as she suggested.)

This is so ludicrous of how this problem is being handled! I will be paying $658.12 (original bill, which I signed for and the Joppa Road store also has in their records) minus the minimum of $25 with the bill I received.

I definitely assure you that this is the last time I will deal in any way with NTB.

Question: If I have been approved for $1,000 credit, how can I be allowed to charge $1,212.77?

Last week, I have received a letter regarding my account. They claim it will take up to 60 days, yet all the proof they need is in the computer at the Joppa Road store. Also, I do not understand why my credit score/report should be involved when it is your mistake, especially since I am paying my bill. You have created the mess, I would appreciate its prompt settlement. If this is not handled properly, other methods will have to be used.

Very distasteful customer service and very surprising given by the service manager.

On Friday, July 29, 2011, my daughter experienced the back passenger driver side tire was very low and stopped at the NW Frwy location. The employee stated a new tire, which was purchased and no other option was discussed. The tire that was replaced was part of a set of new tires I purchased in June from another name brand tire company. The replaced tire's cost was $50. No receipt of warranty was given, neither a copy of the paperwork nor the information was entered into NTB database to identify the make-model-year of my car, and the service manager made light of my concern.

Last November, I purchased two tires with the road hazard insurance. Last week, I picked up a nail. Naturally, I took the tire back to NTB. Even though the nail was more than half an inch from the side wall, they couldn't plug it. They wanted to sell me a new tire at almost the same price I originally paid for the tire.

Brought my truck in @ 630pm to get a nail removed from my left rear tire. The attendant told me it would be 1 1/2hr. 2 hours later my truck was pulled into the shop. My truck sat for an 1/2 hour, I ask the clerk why in an 1/2 hour the wheel has not been at lease taken off. On e she went to the back someone5mon later started working on it. Now os 9:16 pm and im still waiting 2hrs 45min later.

I had my car serviced by NTB in Owings Mills, MD. I'm unsatisfied with the new tire they put on my truck that was flat days later without me driving the vehicle. I checked my oil on 04/23/2011. It was low but I have no apparent leaks. I just had an oil change by this company a few weeks earlier. My tire was taken in to be fixed and was flat the following day. I felt the tire should be replaced. It was not, and I'm still with a tire that goes flat.

I took my car in on 1/21/11 for two new tires since one of my tires was really losing air and the tread was bad, and for oil change and brake pads. The cost was estimated at $335.00, but they called and said that the brakes were fine and that the power steering needed to be flushed, raising the cost to $630. First of all, the tire light, indicating a low tire, did not go off, so I took it back and they said that the air was low in one of the front tires. The light went out for a time but was back on in one day. They did not fill up the window washer fluid that I thought was part of the oil change.

One week later, I took my car in for inspection and the brakes failed. I feel they just wanted to bilk the money and did a terrible job. I will not be going back to them.

The tire was put on incorrectly, resulting in the tires completely wearing out by 1000 miles. They would not take responsibility. Besides the cost of the tires, I was unaware of the rapid wear and spun out in a light rain. I just avoided a very serious accident.

I saw your tire sale and the tires you carried online so I made an appointment. Jim, an employee at the Kingshighway location, went on his terminal and told us he had no promo tires for '97 Saturn SC1 and no other location as well. He said that he only had non-promo tires, brand unknown to me, only 40,000 miles. He would not call or try to order a promo tire with known brand and mileage. This big tire store had only one non-promo tire and no resource or inclination to anything else so he lost the sale.

Fortunately, for both of us, I called your Watson store and spoke with a very personable and knowledgeable employee named Norman. He went on his terminal and found a promo cooper tire with 60,000 miles in inventory. I made an appointment and made the sale. Norman always was concerned with every customer and followed through with all of them even during high volume. You got high customer service and Norman should be highly commended for his service. Norman will keep you in business and Jim could learn a lot from Norman.

This is just an FYI. I have worked on cars for 25+ years. 2 of them at NTW, as they sold out to that sears owned group. I have always been fair with my customers. I.E. not lied about what the vehicle needed to increase the sale. I've been fired for this too.

NTW was the most aggressive about fixing customer complaints than any auto repair co. I ever worked for. Ever! One woman ran an obvious scam on my store and got two new tires in the end. She used a transparent line of lies to trade in her 2 old bald tires for 2 new ones she ultimately got them!

I have seen, first hand, that NTB does just the opposite. Apparently "customer service" is not part of their operations. A friend bought 2 new tires for her car. They are 3/8" out of round. Thus the car shimmys constantly, at all speeds. This symptom was noticed the morning after the new tires were put on. But the belligerent Mgr. woman, in the store at 7734 Richmond hwy. says it can't be the new tires, it is the car.

This is a methodology used by the unscrupulous to do other expensive repairs to your car first. After they have (effectively) ** you (financially) they finally replace the tires that were the problem in the first place. This is a favorite scam of the car repair industry that they make huge amounts of money doing! It is like a carnival scam. You have to know how it works to see it coming. I am familiar with a few carnival scams that make lots of money. She totally discounts that the problem appeared the morn after the tires were installed!

Sunday, October 31, 2010, had flat tire in Burleson, TX at 4:45Ppm. My son tried to contact a local NTB but no one answered. I changed the tire and found a Firestone store open. I got there at 4:45 and they closed at 5pm but they stayed and put the new tire on my car. They said the tire has a large screw in it and the screw had ruined the tire. My wife and I were afraid to drive home on the donut spare (approx. 50 miles) so I bought a new tire. I have road hazard warranty on the tire, so I took it back to the NTB in Grapevine, where I bought the tires. The tire had 8000+ miles on it.

The person at Grapevine (about 4pm on 11/1) told me that there was nothing I he could do since I had not brought the tire back to them. If I had brought the flat tire back then he could exchange it for installation only. I tried to explain that I was out on the road and there was no way I could have brought it back. I asked for credit on the tire and he refused saying again I had not brought the tire back for repair. The argument got heated quickly and then I left, leaving the tire.

I took 2003 conversion van to have oil changed and tires rotated. I left it all day. I came back a couple of days later when my wife drove it, the hub cap fell off and the other 3 all the plastic caps were stripped. They are the only ones that change my tires and rotate them. I feel that they charged me $64.00 to replace the missing hub and the 24 plastic caps is ridiculous. They stripped them and should have replaced them at their cost.

On April 15, 2010 I took a tire in for repair. The tire was one of four tires purchased in November of 2007. I was told by both managers that the tire could not be repaired, and a new tire needed to be purchased. The new tire, after being prorated, would cost $70 on the rim, and out the door. The amount prorated from the new tire would be $53.00, which would make the cost of the tire $123.00. Even though the tires were purchased in November of 2007, I only put 10,000 miles (approximately) on them.

The manager said, if the damage was done in the first year, I would have received a new tire, at no cost, due to the low mileage. I feel I should be given a new tire at little or no cost. $70.00 is too much. I have more than one vehicles, which enabled me to keep a low mileage on this set of tires. When I purchased this set of tires, I also purchased the roadside warranty for the life of the tire (60,000 miles).

I had a tire with less than 5,000 miles on it. Two weeks ago, I had my car in for alignment and to check air pressure. I was driving down the highway and the tire came apart. NTB would not honor the warranty as I had a nail in my tire and they said I had driven with low air pressure. I had them check their records which showed I had just been in there and was told I only had to drive 20 miles with the nail to cause the problem. When I asked what I was supposed to do since I was on the highway when my tire blew up. I was told it was not their problem and I had to pay $180 for a new tire. I went to Sears and replaced the tire for $110. This is the last time I'm going to NTB.

I experienced the following today but it was the same as with every visit:

I brought my VW Jetta in around 8:30 am on Sunday for 4 tires because of an advertised special. The advertised specials are conveniently not in stock and the next cheapest tire is $30 per tire more. I am so desperate for tires that I agree to a more expensive tire. They pressure me to get an alignment even after I tell them I just had one. I told them no. I leave the car and get a call 6 hours later to tell me that they are working on the car and found that my tires are out of alignment. I tell them no again to the alignment.

I show up 20 minutes before closing (9 hours after dropping it off) and find that they hadn't even started work yet. I have to wait another hour for them to put the tires on. I am charged almost $40 per tire for tire disposals and tire installations. I turned down the additional $15 per tire road hazard protection. It cost me $600 for 4 tires for a compact car when I only wanted the cheapest tires possible.

I had two new Michelin tires installed on my vehicle on January 13, 2009. My son Jeremy who worked at NTB at that time arranged this deal and obtained a written warranty for 45,000 miles from the manager at that time, Thomas **. Now the tires are almost worn out after only a year and NTB will not honor their written warranty at all. They did not even offer replacement tires at a prorated price. I have never been treated this way in my 40+ years of purchasing tires. I paid almost $300 for these tires and I feel spited. I will never do business again with NTB and warn others about NTB's poor business practices. I will have to go out and replace these two Michelin tires for $300 to $400.

In August of 2007 I purchased a set of Yoko tires from NTB. They were to last for 60,000 miles. After about 30,000 miles two of the tires are bald. The store gave me $87.40 off of two tires, but only $30.00 off of the other two. I was told that NTB no longer sells Yoko tires because of the trouble they have caused. Because of defective tires, I'm forced to buy 4 tires but only get a real adjustment on two. I think this is wrong and bad business. I ended up paying $553.04 for tires after only having 30,000 miles usage. Looking forward to your response.

I want my tire price matched. I purchased a set of Yoko (4) tires. Mr. Tire has the special "buy 3 get one free". The manager at Catonsville NTB told me, "You must present the quote at the time of purchase", after I already purchased the tires. This is not what they advertise. He gave me 1/2 the money for one tire, not the full price. After he told me over the phone that he would match the deal with Mr, Tire when he thought I was buying a new set of tires. And not price matching the set I already purchased.

I purchased 4 tires from NTB for my Honda Accord several years ago. (I took the car in because it was "vibrating" and a store associate told me my tires were bad and recommended one of their brands. I didn't have time to research tires so I went with their recommendation.) That same winter I was unable to make turns in the snow. Also, one tire blew. I went back to NTB and told them about the problem. A store associate told me that the tires I purchased "...did not perform well on snow and ice." I live in the Midwest (Chicago area) and winters have been horrendous. Why would they sell me poor performing tires? I ended up buying TWO MORE tires for the front so that I could make turns on snowy streets.

The next winter (last winter) I was traveling on snow and after slowly accelerating from a stop, my "old" rear tires swung out and created enough momentum to swing my car into a tree. (I could not have been traveling any slower.) $3,000+ damage to my car and a record on my insurance....my first. The following Spring, another "old" rear tire appeared to be defective and needed to be replaced. I wrote a letter to NTB and the regional manager, Ken Linburg, and (after multiple phone calls) he verbally agreed to replace my rear tires with the same tires that are on the front. I called the NTB store in Vernon Hills to arrange for a day/time and after about one month of unreturned calls to Francisco, the store manager, I was able to set up a date. I arrived to have the problem fixed and Francisco told me that he would have to charge me about $100 to have the tires replaced. He also told me that I should have received a discount when I purchased the two new tires, but no one gave me one.

I suggested he apply the discount to the new tires, and he refused. He said it was "too late". I then wrote another letter to the president of NTB as well as Ken's manager, Samir. Another frustrating week of telephone tag and Samir agreed to have the tires replaced "at no extra charge". He said he would contact the store in Vernon Hills to let them know. I went back to the Vernon Hills store and Francisco was not aware of the agreement, but apparently accepted my story and replaced the tires. I also had a coupon for a free oil change and asked them to honor it. Francisco said it was an old coupon (even though it didn't have an expiration date) and refused to give me the oil change. I went home and called Samir.

After a few attempts (again), I was able to tell him about his store manager's refusal to honor a coupon that was given to me when I purchased my less-than-adequate tires. Samir told me he would mail me coupons and that I should take my car to NTB in another suburb. It's been several weeks and so far, no coupon. And....to top it off, I recently received my copy of "Consumer Reports" and the tires that are on the car? They are at the bottom of the list regarding performance on "snow and ice"! I have a 16 year old daughter learning to drive and I am not at all confident of our safety this winter!

On Saturday, October 10, 2009 I discovered a large bolt in my right front tire. It was late afternoon and the only place I could find to have it repaired was NTB. I happened to park my car so that the bolt was visible just by looking at the tire. I explained to the worker at the counter that I had a bolt in my right front tire. We walked out to the car so that I could point it out to him. He took down my information and wrote on the paperwork "right front." I sat in the waiting room and watched as my car went up and then came down from the lift.

I paid my $30 for the tire repair and walked back out to my car... only to see the bolt still sticking out of my right front tire. I was incensed. I walked back in and said to the clerk, "there's still a bolt in my right front tire!" He brought out the technician who had worked on my car, and we walked back out to the car. The technician's response was that he was told it was the left front tire. When I inquired if he had found a bolt in that tire, he said no. When I asked what he had done to charge me $30, he said that there was a small leak in the rim (I have a low tire pressure indicator on my 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan, so I knew he was incorrect). I walked back in and demanded that they refund the money I was charged. As a result of wasting the time at NTB not getting my tire fixed, my other options (like Just Tires) were already closed by the time I left. I ended up with a flat tire when the bolt fell out of the tire on my way home, stranding me with my two-year-old and requiring me to change a tire on a dark, country-ish road.

Went to NTB to have four new tires fitted. I bought the tires from an online store and just needed them to be fitted. During the following week I noticed horrible vibrations at highway speeds coming through the steering wheel. It felt like I was using a lawn mower. Suspecting a tire balancing issue (wheels had been aligned a month ago)I returned to NTB for help. The tires are an all-terrain suv tire with a semi-aggressive tread pattern`so the know it all staff used this an an excuse and told me that was normal.

I have used far more aggressive tires in the past and never had anything like this before, so I pressed the issue and asked for the balancing to be checked. They were very reluctant to do this and point blank argued that 'offroad' tires will always cause vibrations. They finally agreed to check the balance and said that they will not do this again for the life of the tire. During the checking I stood over the tech and watched the entire process. All four tires were well out of balance, in fact they were more out of balance after their first attempt than they were before balancing. I watched them accurately fix the balancing and guess what? Now they don't vibrate any more.

How could these tires become so out of balance in one week? Answer - they can't. They were not done properly in the first place. Now, if the staff at NTB had simply acknowledged that there might actually be a problem, checked and fixed it, everything would have been fine. But the fact that they argued, were hostile and treated me like an inconvenience has left me angry and disappointed. There are plenty of other tire place around who will now get my future business instead.

I bought a tire at this location late December 2008. I paid for balancing the tire and a 50,000 mile warranty was noted on the receipt. 18,000 miles later, the fabric on the middle of the tire was showing. The tire had worn down rapidly beyond what is reasonably expected from a $100.00 tire. I brought the car back to NTB and brought up the incredible wear and the warranty. Nope, warranty doesn't cover this, and they wouldn't stand behind their work or the tire they sold. Unacceptable! No discount on a new tire, nothing. Lousy product and service.

On 9/21/08 I purchased 4 brand new, Michelin, Primacy, MXV4 tires for $624.98. On 4/29/09 one of the brand new tires had a "flat". When I went to change the tire, the side of the tire had split open and was separated.

I went back to NTB in Bloomingdale, IL where I purchased these tires for $624.98 and was told these tires are not warranteed unless I purchase a separate warranty for $26.99 each. I spent $624.98 for tires and of NO FAULT OF MINE I cannot get a replacement for free? These tires are less than 7 months old and they fall apart? This tire is CLEARLY a tire defect.

This is ABSOLUTE HORRIBLE customer service and a disgrace. I want to be compensated for the cost of a NEW tire which was $173.86. I had to purchase a new tire (to match the others I purchased in September), which cost me $173.86

NTB sold and installed four Yokohama tires on my 2003 Audi, replacing the original equipment tires which had 48,000 on them. The Yokohama was a high performance tire rated to go 60,000 miles. It was rated next to Michelin in quality and performance which is why I bought them. I also purchased a lifetime balance and rotation contract and hazard insurance.

I recently took the Audi in for servicing. Al, the manager, called me to say my Yokohama tires needed to be replaced. I couldn't believe it. When I asked Al how many miles he thought the tires had on them, he estimated it to be 30,000 miles. I then showed him the sales receipt which showed that it had only been 12,000 miles since the new Yokohama tires had been installed. Only 12,000 miles! He said he would speak to the Yokohama representative about compensating me for the poorly performing tires I had purchased.

Several days later, Al called me to say that Yokohama would allow me 50% of the purchase price toward a new set of tires. I asked Al if this offer applied to any brand, not just Yokohama. Al said it would apply to any brand of tire. In the meantime, I called the Audi dealership to find out what tires they recommended. Audi told me they use Toyo, Bridgestone and Continental. I called Al to find out if NTB carried these brands. Continental was the only brand they could get and they would have to order them through Tire Rack. In addition, I would have to pay $20 a tire for shipping and handling from Tire Rack. I agreed to do it.

The next day Al called me and, contrary to what he told me earlier, he said Yokohama would only agree to giving me 50% of the purchase price toward Yokohama tires not other brands. I asked Al why I would want to pay anything for a tire that would only last 12,000 miles. I intend to hold on to this car for a long time. He said he had no control over Yokohama, yet his and all NTB stores carry this brand. He also said that NTB has no way of knowing what tires will wear the best for different kinds of vehicles. Oh, really! I thought NTB was in the tire business. I also learned that this Yokohama tire has NO MILEAGE WARRANTY! In fact, there are many tires that manufacturers only offer workmanship warranties. Of course, the sales people never let on that the 60,000 mile tire you're buying is not warranted for 60,000 miles.

From the consumer complaints and government actions I've read on the Internet about Yokohama and its practices, I am not surprised that they consistently behave poorly toward their customers when it comes to premature tire wear issues. This is clearly a case of BUYER BEWARE!

I was sold tires on 5/12/07 had one tire that went bad. Went to store 513 on 1/25/09 they said all my tires were bad only after 9,000 miles was only gave me credit for 160.00 dollars. I think I was ripped off.

Purchased 4 new Yokahoma tires from NTB with 50K warrenty 5-11-06 along with alignment, balance, rotation etc. that goes with making sure my tires last. Return to NTB the very next day with complaints that ride was no longer smooth but bouncy, noisy, and pulling to left side. I was not happy with the tire replacement and my instinct told me they sold me crappy tires, so I asked for the tires to be replaced. They stated they just needed to recheck the alignment, balance & rotation.

They assured me nothing was wrong with the tires and I fell for it. I returned to NTB repeatedly complaining that something was wrong and each time they assured me I was mistaken. The last gentlemen even tried to convince me that they could not get the alignment/rotation/balance right because it was a Toyota. I tired of returning and spending hours off from work waiting only to get pacified and dismissed.

Then during one of my routine state car inspections I was informed that I had a bad tire that appeared to have abnormal belt edge wear, tread cracking and when I told them that the tire was less than 2yrs old, they advised it was a defective tire. I immediately called NTB and met with the manager George the very next day so he could inspect the tire. I looked at it and agreed that the wear was not normal and the tire appeared defective, then he looked at the other 3 tires and stated they had abnormal cracking also. He called Yokahoma and then informed me that because I had 37k miles on the tires they would only give me prorated discount on replacement all 4 tires. It's not NTB's fault that the tires are defective, and it's not Yokahoma's fault that they were not replaced sooner, but it is also not my fault that I was sold a defective product and no one would help me sooner. All three of us should bear some responsibility for this unfortunate circumstance.

I paid $409.53 and they will replace them at $394.92. Somehow that does not seem fair. I have to replace the tires sooner than expected, and had they replaced the tires the day after I purchased them and requested new tires, I would not be in this fix. NTB should have replaced the tires when I asked them to and not pacify me and try to deceive and convince me that there was nothing wrong with the tires. For this role they should not charge me for installation, mounting, balance of the 4 new tires, Yokahoma should pro-rate 3 of the tires, and the 4th that is showing wire should be a free replacement. This way all everyone is equally and fairly paying for their role.

I feel like everyone is placing blame on me and I am paying fully for everyone's role. NTB will not budge and needless to say, I will never do business with them again. They do not take into consideration the safety of their customers as they sell them faulty equipment and allow them to daily put their lives, their families lives, and others in danger. They will do anything to make a buck and anything to save a buck and customer safety and satisfaction are not important. They saw a female sucker and took advantage of my lack of knowledge about tires and now I have to bear it.

had 2 flat tires with pin holes in sidewalls on michilin tires within one week on same side ot toyota truck. ntb replaced with installation fees since i had road hazard at first i thought someone punctured sidewalls but these holes were so small you could not feel or see tire had to be placed in water to locate air escape

I bought a new set of tires back in February from the NTB in Humble, TX. Back in August I got a large nail in the driver back tire probably due to new freeway construction in my area. I took my truck to the nearest NTB in Porter. I asked them for a tire repair and a rotation. I was informed it would be a while, so I had my boyfriend come pick me up so I could leave my truck for the service. An hour or so later I went back to pick up truck. I asked the gentleman behind the counter if the tires were rotated and he said yes. He went through the process of printing out a receipt and checking me out. Before signed I AGAIN asked him if the tires were rotated, and again, he said yes.

A few days later I noticed a piece of rubber sticking out of the tread of the driver back tire. I realized it was the plug that was used to repair the tire. It ****** me off to find that it was in the SAME place that it was before. If the tires were rotated like I was told they were, then why was the tire in the same place as before???

Angry, I called the NTB in Porter where I had taken my truck for the repair and was placed on hold. I hung up and called back and again, placed on hold. Again, I hung up and again, was placed on hold. Even more ******, I hung up and drove 2 blocks to the NTB to confront them in person...can't be placed on hold then, now can I? They had no choice but to deal with me.

I explained to the manager what happened and was immediately taken care of with in 20 minutes. Still angry and unsatisfied with the service I left.

Recently I noticed my low tire pressure light on in my truck, got out to see and noticed that the front the driver tire was a little low. I stopped and put some air in it and went on my way. A few days later, same thing. After airing it up 3 times I decided to take my truck back in....reluctantly I took it back to NTB (only because I still had warranty on the tires). This time I took it to the one in Humble hoping for better service. I shouldn't have held my breath.

Unfortunately the service there was just as bad. I went in and explained to the gentleman that I've had to repeatedly put air in my tire and that I had a slow leak. They took it back, looked the tire over and put in the dunk tank twice...I was told they couldn't find anything wrong with the tire. They told me they would check all the other tires to make sure, even though I explained to them that the driver front tire was the one that was low. After 2 hours of waiting I was told that they couldn't find anything wrong with the tires. They pulled my truck around for me to leave, and as I approach my truck I noticed the same tire was still LOW! I went in and asked the guy about it and he checked the pressure and told me it was low...angry, I mentioned why they didn't even bother putting air in the tire...it was obvious it was LOW!

****** of and AGAIN unsatisfied with the horrible service of NTB I left, just to return 2 days later with the SAME problem.

This time I asked for the manager, and explained myself about the service from the people in porter and the current service I've gotten from them. He assured me he would have it checked again immediately. They pulled it around and quickly found the problem with tire, can you guess what it was??? You guessed it...the tire that had been plugged from the people in Porter sprung a leak where it was plugged. Go figure.

I demanded the tire be replaced because it was under warranty. Still unhappy and unsatisfied, I left with the intention of never going back to any NTB location again.

wife took car in for an oil change, as part of the service they rotated her tires, a week later her car was violently shaking. she stopped and noticed that two lugnuts were missing from the passenger front tire. She called NTB and they told her to come in. she drove there and they took a lug nut from each of her back tires and put them in the front tire. i was annoyed enough to go there and they blamed a bad gun, but of course they got new equip one week ago, so that shouldn't be a problem anymore. they didn't have the lugnut by 3pm the next day either, i went across the street from the business and bought two lugnuts, still awaiting my check for the two lugnuts (12dollars and some change).

funny, when i got in the place an old man was saying that he was told that he needed brakes, they were metal on metal, he went and found out that his brakes were almost brand new and the employee was mistaken (grossly mistaken). the old man said he was going to report the store to corporate for trying to fool the old man into something that he clearly didn't need. never ever go there, there is no quality control and without some quality control, anything dealing with tires and such is dangerous.

took the car into a my normal mechanic to see if there is damage due to the lugnuts not being on the car the night before. the funny thing is that i told the manager that if their negligence caused damage to the car, that they were going to have to pay for it to get fixed and his response is that he would not pay anything, but would fix any damage (the nerve, he must have been smoking crack if he thought that I'd ever let him touch my wife's car again). he mentioned that he couldn't get the lug nuts until the next day, i told him since it was gross negligence they should have given my wife a rental until the lugnuts came in (that would have put a fire under them to get moving like they had purpose).

very annoyed, moral of the story, find a good mechanic that you can trust and stick with him even if it's an inconvenience , it could at some point in your driving career save you more time and money than you would looking for better deals and driving shorter distances to the shop. take care, fair warning to all about ntb

tires purchased several years ago, with follow up trips to have tires rotated, balanced and front end alignment. last trip there for rotate and balance(which is a free service with tire purchase) I watched them rotate two of the tires and put two tires on the balance machine-not the same two tires...? there was still a shimmying afterward(that I had reported to them)so I took the vehicle to another shop with the same complaint and their report was that the tires were out of balance, had no weights on them AND out of round, which I had ask about also. So they outright lied about services performed and questions that I asked.use of vehicle was decreased by several more days due to their incompetence. Tires are out of round now and need to be replaced.

I paid for a TBC Tempest Touring Plus TR today for $83.41. It was near the close of business and when I went to my car, it was dark and I could not see very clearly, but I said to my daughter that it did not look like a new tire; that was about 7pm. At 11 pm my husband was going somewhere and came back in the house very furious saying that I did not get a new tire, it was the same old tire and that it was flat.

Well, at this time the store is closed and we have not spoken with management. However, I am just awed at the fact that they would do such a thing and now my family and I have to be inconvenienced because of their dishonesty.

On Nov. 1, 2006 my daughter and son-in-law were returning home from a trip using my vehicle and had the right front tire blow out on I-70 near St. Peters, MO. They called a tow truck and had the assistance of a St. Peter's police officer to remove the vehicle off I-70 as quickly as possible. My vehicle was towed to your NTB store # 682. Once there my daughter and son-in-law had decided to purchase a replacement tire instead of using the donut spare tire because they were approximately 2 hours away from home. Your sales representative told them that they would have to replace 2 tires because they could not run the vehicle with different treads on the same axel.

My daughter tried to explain to the rep that they were just wanting to get home and just wanted to get the tire replaced. So, not knowing any different they purchased two tires. Your sales rep also told them they needed to also purchase the warranty. When picking out a tire your sales rep did not inform my daughter that the tires she was purchasing is sold exclusively to NTB stores. I took my vehicle to my local service station where I have my vehicle serviced to see what kind of tire was purchased and they could not even find they type of tire is was on the tire. I decided to replace all 4 tires and since I could NOT get that tire locally I called your store. I spoke with your store manager there and explained to him that I could not get that tire locally and lived 2 hours away and did NOT want to have tires on my vehicle with the place of warranty being 2 hours away.

I also feel they deceived my daughter into making her purchase 2 tires and the warranty. Why would I replace my tires with a company that is 2 hours away. The manager of store # 682 told me there was nothing he could do for me and directed me to Brian ****. When I tried to explain the situation to Mr. **** and told him that I did not want these tires he told me I had a 30 day money back guarantee. So I told Mr. **** that I felt like my daughter was deceived into purchasing 2 tires when 1 would have gotten them home and that I did not want to have warranty on tires 2 hours away and tires that I could not get locally. I also told Mr. **** that I would be bringing the tires back to his store as soon as I got replacement tires locally.

On Friday, Nov. 10th my daughter and I drove the tires back to the St. Peters store. When we got there the manager told us there was nothing he could do. So I once again spoke with Mr. ****. I feel Mr. **** was rude and condescending. He tried to make me make a purchase that I did not want to make. After speaking with Mr. **** for several minutes and getting no where I finally became too frustrated to deal with him and told him to tell his store manager what he was going to do to resolve this matter. The store manager then proceeded to refund my daughter the purchase price of one tire and half of the warranty and labor costs. I just want to let you know that I think your sales representative that sold my daughter the tires mislead her. She did not have to purchase two tires and he should have told her they were tires that are sold exclusively at NTB stores.

And I also feel that Mr. **** was not trying to resolve the situation. He was just trying to make me have to keep the tires that my daughter purchased even though I tried to explain to him that we live two hours away and could not get those tires locally. The only person I found to be helpful in that store was a representative named Damien. He was nice and courteous. Now my daughter has purchased a tire that I have no use for. I feel she should be refunded the full amount of the purchase not just for one tire and half of the labor and warranty. I will surely not recommend your company to anyone and have thought about contacting the Better Business Bureau regarding this matter. If you would like to contact me, please feel free to call 660-***-****. I would like to speak with someone regarding this matter.

Sincerely, Cynthia ****

I had 2 tires replaced 1/22/06. On the way home the lug cap come off. I cannot find it. They agreed to replace it at no cost. I went out to wash the truck today 1/29/06 and realized that one of the tires they replace is bigger/wider than they other tires. I call to let them know. They advised me that I can come in and they will take care of it right away.

Once I arrived it took 20 minutes for the sales person to get to me. Once he did he said they would get to me in a few minutes and it should not take long. Well it took just under 2 hours for them to fix a problem they created. That was longer than it took me to have 2 tires and an alignment done the 1st time. All Keith could do was apologize and offer up excuses of only having 2 mechanics on hand.

Replaced 2 front tires on December 4, 2005--began hearing rubbing noise on driver side January 2nd, which increased. Drove locally at low speeds. Drove at highway speed 7 miles on January 5 -- vibration, excess noise, worried a wheel bearing was going bad. On return from work before driving home, took off wheel cover, lugs were so loose I could turn by hand! NTB had not tightened down the lug nuts with a tool!

I have to investigate further for this---my main beef is that this could have caused a serious or fatal accident if wheel came off. I had a first cousin whose wheel came off after NTW service about 10 years ago who broke his neck in the ensuing crash.

Bought tires at National tire and battery store #541. On 12- 31-05 took vehicle in for tire rotation. Notice they didn't check the air in the tires. When asked why not?? They replied that they didn't do it unless requested. They also said they had prior experiences with customers complaints with not putting enough/or too much air in their tires. Thats why they don't do it anymore.

He also said "How am I suppose to know how much air you put in your tires". They have the responsibility to check the air in all four tires and make sure they're safe. Theres a sticker inside the door that tells anybody what the recommended pressure is for you tires. It also says on the tire itself. How much trouble or time does it take to put air in four tires?

I purchased a set of tires from NTB on 3/14/2000. After 21,397 miles the tread separated from the tire. On 4/03/2002 the tire was replaced and prorated with a less expensive tire. I was told that NTB did not sell the tire that failed any longer. My prorated price for the tire was $30.41.

During replacement of the failed tire I asked to have the remaining three tires broken down and inspected both inside and out. The tires were reinstalled and the manager stated that the inspected tires were O.K. My receipt shows tread depth at 10/32 when new. After 9000 miles the tread separated on another tire while traveling on the interstate. This time my truck was damaged from the separation. Before returning home, another tire started to separate. Tread wear is now 6/32. The pro-rated price of the new replacement tire will be $54.32 for a tire that list price for $44 plus tax and balancing.

Because the tires were suspected since the first tread separation I offered to pay the same price as I did for the replacement tire, $30.41 each. These tires are defective from the manufacturer. I have had 3 out of 4 tires fail with the same type of failure within 9000 miles. These tires are DANGEROUS! And I want them off of my truck.

My loses are minimal since these are "economy" tires. The damage to the truck is to the lower part of the fender and bumper. But it is an old truck used mainly to shuttle me to the airport and back. Less than 10,000 miles per year. Is there any other alternative venue for me to follow? All that I am searching for is a REASONABLE solution. Mr. Hooks has rejected my offer and will not stand behind the products he sells.

Tim should file suit in Small Claims Court seeking the full replacement price of all four tires plus damages to his truck and any other expenses he incurred.

We purchased a set of Yokohoma tires on March 15, 2001 with 109,255 miles on our car. These tires had a 50,000 mile warranty. Since purchase, we took the car back for regular rotation and balance. When we recently brought it in for routine rotation and balance, we were told that the tires were worn out, that in fact, three of them showed metal. The mileage on our car was 133,750. Because these tires had a 50,000 mile warranty and we had gone less than half those miles, we wanted our warranty honored. We were told that Yokahoma would have to make a decision regarding warranty.

The man at NTB called Yokahoma and was told that all people who could make that decision were in a seminar. I waited for over an hour for the fellow at NTB to call Yokohoma back which he did and got the same story. I was offered me a set of Douglas tires with virtually no warranty as replacement for my Yokahoma, which was totally unacceptable. Because NTB could not and obviously would not honor our tire warranty, we went elsewhere to get tires.

We paid $305.22 for these bad Yokahoma tires that wore out at less than half the warranty guarantee, we expect NTB to reimburse us for half the price we paid for the tires as we have only gotten half the life of what we paid for. We have been trading with NTW/NTB for over 25 years and are very disappointed.

We wrote NTB and got absolutely no response, then wrote Yokohama who responded promptly that they would, indeed honor the warranty. Needless to say, we will not return to NTB for any reason.

I replaced one tire on my vehicle and no less than 5 days later it blew out while driving on the highway and they are only offering a "mileage warranty". I was told that they couldn't fully replace the tire. It seems awfully suspect that a new tire should blow out less than a week of having it.

NTB sold me a set of tires that are falling apart prematurely. They have yet to do anything about it. During simple tire rotations, they have caused damage to my rim. And too, they have sent me on my way after performing rotations without putting all of the lug nuts on the tires; I would get home and notice that I'm missing lug nuts on my tires. Of course I contact the manager "Bill" and he says that I came in missing lugs on my tires. If so, then why wouldn't they tell me that I'm missing a tre lug? You (a tire expert) would knowingly send let someone drive off without telling them that they are missing parts; you would let your customer put themselves in danger like that? It makes no sense!

NTB does all of my tire work; therefor if I'm missing something (especially lug nuts) it's because they neglected to put them back on after they removed them. Of course the manager "Bill" says that he'll order me new lug nuts and he'll call me when they're in (although he tried to pin the blame on me first - I guess it's my responsibility ot to put the lug nuts on after they changed the tire). So far its been 4 days and I've not received a call.

These tires are falling apart and causing a lot of extremely loud vibration during the ride. I don't feel safe with these tires. Since NTB is doing NOTHING to help me I'm going to get a second opinion about my tires. If it does turn out that these tires are defective or they are damaged due to NTB's negligence, I will take them to court.
