M.P. of Shirley, NY writes: Vehicle had a sticker price of $24,910.00. A rebate of $1,500.00 was advertised by the manufacturer and was reiterated by the salesman. On the contract $1500.00 was added to the price, the tax calculated, and then $1500.00 deducted at the end. I was therefore charged a tax on the price of the car, charged an additional tax on an additional $1500.00 before this $1500.00 was removed. The result is that I not only paid a tax on an extra $1500.00, but to add insult to injury, the rebate was never passed on. To compound this situation, I was financed at
a high interest rate, even with my excellent credit, when Chrysler, the
manufacturer, was offering a much lower interest rate and this information was
deliberately withheld fom me when I inquired. Follow-up: This gentleman has filed a Small Claims Court action against the dealer. We are waiting to learn the outcome. |
