Tischer Nissan

Laurel, MD

Chris of Odenton, MD August 20, 2009

In June, we took our Quest into Tischer Acura Nissan in Laurel because it ws smoking and we were concerned that there was an oil leak. This was before our warrenty went out. We were told that there was no leak and they could not see a problem. Following a family vacation on the 11th of August, the engine started making noises when accelarating.

Wednesday the 12th, we had it towed to Tischer Nissan in Laurel. Once they looked at it, they called and the first question they asked was when the last oil change was. We had just had the oil changed on 9 August. They said there was no oil in the vehicle and the engine was ruined. (confirming our hunch that there might be a leak). Now we are being told that Nissan will not cover the new engine cost and Tischer is refusing resposibility even though they looked at it just in June and told us there was no problem. Obviously there was a problem.

After all this, I called consumer affairs Sunday the 16th of August. I recieved a voicemail from the regional manager on Monday and have left several voicemails since then to today. This morning, after calling the consumer affairs line and speaking with someone else, the manager called while I was on the phone giving a status to my spouse. I left several messages since and have not recieved a call back.

The main point is, when we had the van in before the warrenty ran out in June because it was smoking and possibly leaking oil, something should have been done then, but we took the word of the "professionals". My van is out of commision leaving me to search for a way to get children to school and back unless I leave my work so my spouse has a vehicle. If I pay the 4400 they are asking for the engine costs, I will not be able to make my monthly payments.
