Inside Jiffy Lube

Jeff of St. Peters MO (03/31/09)
I had my oil changed, transmission serviced and tires rotated. Upon leaving the the center, I drive across the highway bridge make a left turn onto the west-bound hwy 70 ramp and heard a loud rumbling-banging sound from the rear orf my vehicle. I immediately pull off to the right shoulder, got out of the car and inspected the rear wheels only ro find that none of the lug nuts were tightened down.

I immediately called the store and they sent a person over to use my jack and tighten the lug nuts that they should have tightened in the shop. There is no excuse for this kind of oversite. This could have caused and accident or even death. I will never use this company again.

Devrah of Allston, MA March 27, 2009

Devrah of Allston MA (03/27/09)
On January 26 between the hours of 3pm and 5pm I got an oil change at Jiffy Lube in Watertown, MA. Before this I had been to their branch in Weymouth. The Weymouth, MA branch had not touched my car and said that they couldnt perform my oil change because they needed a certain kind of wrench in order to do it. I called the Watertown, MA branch and inquired as to whether they had the equipment and training necessary to perform the oil change on my vehicle. They said they could. So I drove over to Watertown, MA and got the oil change there.

A couple days ago on Sunday, March, 22, I noticed that the car was running louder than usual and it seemed there were exhaust fumes leaking into the cab of my vehicle. I called my local Volks Wagon dealership in Watertown, MA and scheduled an appointment for Wednesday, March, 25th at 7am. I suspected it was a simple exhaust leak. The technicians found that it was a much larger problem. The bolts that mounted my motor to the engine mount were stripped and fell out. This caused my engine to come out of place, it was sagging about 4 to 5 inches from where it was supposed to be and the only thing holding it in place was the plastic splash guard underneath it. The exhaust broke after some time of driving it in this condition. The displaced engine would torch and move while the flex pipe to the catalytic converter and exhaust pipe would remain fixed causing them eventually to break apart and cause the noise I thought to be an exhaust leak.

The technicians seemed to imply that whoever was last doing work to my car had caused the damage to the bolts and therefore caused the engine to sag and the exhaust system to break. I have only taken the vehicle to two places since I purchased it in May, 2008. The first place is the Volks Wagon dealership. They performed a 100 point inspection in May, 2008 when I first brought the car into them. I also had taken the car to the same Volks Wagon dealership again in June and July for unrelated issues having to do with the convertible top motor. Each time there had been no reports of such a problem or anything indicative of this problem. The only other place I brought my vehicle to was Jiffy Lube for the oil change on January 26, 2009.

The techs at the Volks Wagon dealership said that the damage was caused recently within the past couple of months. This leads me to believe that since I had not been to the dealership since July, 2008 and everything was running fine on my vehicle before I brought it to Jiffy Lube in January, 2009 which was only a couple months ago that Jiffy Lube somehow stripped the motor mount bolts when they were changing the oil in my vehicle and therefore are directly responsible for the damage.

The damages that resulted from the stripping of the motor mount bolts came to a grand total of 1519.00. The motor mount, the motor mount bolts, the catalytic converter, the muffler and exhaust pipe all had to be replaced as a result of the negligence of Jiffy Lubes actions. I would like to know if there is anything I can do to seek compensation from Jiffy Lube as I am an honest hardworking 26 year old with little money to spare for such unwarranted circumstances.

I took my 2002 Volkswagon Passat to Jiffy Lube, store # 2263 on 10/16/08. They changed the oil and replaced a air filter that the other place I had been getting my oil changed said only the dealer can do. When I got home I noticed later that afternoon that my car had a major leak.. I did not have a leak until Jiffy Lube changed the oil because I live in a new house and I had no leaks or spots in my driveway.. I had the leak fixed a couple of weeks later, but it was to late because the leak had damage other belts and caused major damage...

I took it to the dealer to fix and it cost me 1000.00 on top of money I had paid to fix leak and another 1000.00 that I need done on work that was caused by damages... I took the car back to Jiffy Lube store # 2263 in Nashville, TN several times and they gave me the run around and talked very dirty to me...

I called the headquarters and talked with a man that's in charge of complaints and he talked very dirty and told me to have the dealer that did repairs on my car to fax invoice to him... I never got a call back after leaving several messages. Finally I got in touch with him and he talked very rude and dirty to me and told me he don't see how the repairs that was done had anything to do with the oil change... I know my car was fine when I pulled into Jiffy Lube store # 2263 on 10/16/08.. I think it's terrible that a company can cause a person so much hardship and get away with it..

I change my oil every 3000 miles at this Jiffy Lube place. The last time I came in the change oil they asked me if I want to change my fluid on my transfer case on my 2003 Highlander, and I agreed. After 5 minutes they came and told me that they can't do it because of something. After about 2500 miles later my transfer case was total destroy because there is no fluid in the transfer case. I call them back and explain the problem, they totally denied it. What can I do? The total cost is 4800.

Adriana of Durham NC (03/24/09)
I went to change oil and filter at jiffy lube on HWY 55 Durham NC and they fefuse to do it because there was a leak and something damageand they send me to jiffy lube on HWY 54 because by them if was done there. When i got to HWY 54 they look it up the the system and it was done on 55 store #2733, they printed the paper with the store number and they send me back to HWY 55 and they told me that it was there mistake and they need to fit it. When i got there one of the employee (an older guy) was rude, told me in front of everyone i was a liar because i was confuse and i wasn't sure when it was done. Per Jiffy lube on HWY 54 they need to fix the problem because it was there mistake (HWY 55).

Because of the leak another piece of the car got broke and i cost 100. to get fix.
