Joan of Tampa FL (05/21/08) I went to Jiffy Lube for an oil change on my 2001 VW Golf and sometime later my car was out of oil. my husband thought I might have a crack in th pan or a gasket problem. So he filled it up and it happened again. I went to the Kuhn VW service department basically because I had a screw in a tire. I asked them to check the oil pan. My oil pan whole where the screw goes was stripped because the Jiffy Lube service quy put the wrong screw in it. VW cars have metric numbers on all parts. The screw that the service advisor showed said one half inch.
Because of this mistake I had to buy a new oil pan which cost me almost 500.00. I have the damanged oil pan, the wrong screw and the sticker that Jiffy Lube puts at the top of the windshield. I know that my husband and I am in their computer system. I want my money back. Mike of Indianapolis, IN May 21, 2008
Mike of Indianapolis IN (05/21/08) I went in for an oil change and for them to look for a leak coming from the bottom of my car. They found a leak from the water pump and recommended I replace it, the manager Cassidy was completely ignorant of any type of car maintenance and left off my radiator and reservoir caps. A few days later my car overheated cracking the heads causing severe damage to my car. He came to my residence ADMITTED FAULT and told me that I had no reason to suspect internal damage, but that I probably had a loose motormount. He later denied everything in court.
Massive internal damage to my engine. I went to small claims court and was torn apart by the lies of Cassidy and thier attourney. I had 2 witness statements in which I did not know I could not use, I intend to file an appeal but want an attourney to represent me and want my witnesses to appear or provide certified statements that will be accepted by the courts. One witness was there to hear him say he was the one to cause the damage, the other witness is my auto mechanic...he owns the business and has a spotless record with the BBB, Jiffy lube on the other hand averages a complaint per month. Karen of Sacramento, CA May 19, 2008
Karen of Sacramento CA (05/19/08) Took car in on 5-16-08 for oil change and tire rotation. As soon as I pulled away the check engine light came on. I went back to Jiffy Lube and told them the light came on. They hooked the car up to a computer reader for the error code and told me there was a loose sensor on the air filter and that they fixed the problem. I left only to go to use my car later to find the check engine light on again. By that time Jiffy Lube was closed so I had to wait until the next day to deal with it. The next day I took the car back to Jiffy Lube and the same manager that fixed the problem was there. I told him the light came on again. It took 4 technicians and a manager to look at the car for about 45 minutes just to tell me that the error code that is coming up they don't know what it is and I need to take it to the dealership. At that time I called my mechanic and asked him what the code was for he said it was the mass air flow sensor. I then asked the manager at JL to show me on the car where the mass air flow sensor was. He said he isn't a mechanic and doesn't know that part. By that time we were on the phone with the general manager demanding someone fix our car. They sent us to their mechanic. Once their mechanice opened the hood and showed us where the mass air flow sensor was we saw immediately that the wires going to the part were ripped out. Mind you at least 4 technicians and the manager had looked at it at least two times now in so many days and couldn't see the problem. This part is the part they take off when they pull out your air filter to show you. We went back to jiffy lube and without any help were left to go to our mechanice to get the car fixed so we could drive home. Apparently, Jiffy Lube requires an investigation of the problem before they will aurthorize repair. At this time we are still waiting for a call back on the investigation but have already paid for the repair. In the mean time we discovered an oil leak and our mechanics says the pan bolt is stripped. We now have to take off from work early to get to Jiffy lube before they close to have the oil drained and a new bolt put in because they wouldn't authorize my mechanic to do the work even though my car was already there and I wouldn't need to leave work early if they could do the work. We also have at leasat 5 lug nut caps missing since the tire rotation.
Spent 6 hours on Saturday trying to resolve problem Jiffy lube caused and now have to take time off work and hope nothing else goes wrong. The oil change and tire rotation cost 57.00 so far the mechanic fees are 152.00. Bill of Kalama, WA May 19, 2008
Bill of Kalama WA (05/19/08) I went to this Jiffy Lube location to get a simple oil change as I was simply feeling too lazy to do it myself as I usually do. They tried to inform me that my windshield wiper blades were badly damaged and I could have vision problems if it rained again. That seemed a little odd to me as I had just put them on 2 weeks ago and they worked perfectly fine the previous night during a heavy downpour. Not only that, but they didn't do any of the signature service.
On the receipt it says that I declined to have my windows washed and floor vacuumed. It says that they filled my windshield washer fluid but when I checked the next day it was only 1/4 full. Now here is the kicker, as I was standing there near the end I watched some little old lady drive in in a brand new looking Toyota Camry, they told her that she needed this that and the other and if she didn't her car would break down before long. I didn't say anything but I should have, that simply isn't right.
Patricia of Seabrook, NH May 17, 2008
Patricia of Seabrook NH (05/17/08) On May 2, 2008, I took my Volkswagen Beetle in for an oil change. I was offered a free car wash, 50% off my next oil change, and used a 10 coupon off. I have been going to this store since 2004 because it is close to my home. I am a single parent and sole support of two children, and drive alot for work, from Seabrook to Dover 5 days a week. On May 8th the temperature light came on, and my children noticed there was no coolant and filled it up. On May 9th, after a 40 minute drive to work, I smelled smoke from the vehicle. That night I added 2 quarts of oil. On the way home, at 2am at the Hampton tollbooth on Route 95, the engine seized.
I took the car to a mechanic and he said that Jiffylube never put any oil in it. I went back to the store to complain and there was no manager there, but a worker who laughed at me. I was jeered at while leaving the store. I have called the 800 number to request a complete list of the service dates for this car. I asked who the owner was of the Seabrook store and was told that this was one of the few stores that is owned by the company. I am in the process of writing a letter to the company, the attorney general's office, and the better business bureau.
engine seized, cost of new engine 5,000. Car had 6,000 left for payments. Needed to ask for 10,000 from a friend to pay for balance of seized car and make a down payment on a new beetle. Frank of Tucson, AZ May 17, 2008
