Inside Jiffy Lube

Ben of Yuma AZ (08/11/08)
I am currently deployed to Iraq and found out that store #2780 preyed on my wife like a pack of vultures. I am filing a complaint with the manager, filing this complaint here and with the Better Business Bureau and Attorney General. My wife went in for a regular oil change in which she was appropriately charged for (28.99). Then one worker came to her and asked her about replacing the air filter since we had denied it the last two times, she said yes. Another worker came up and mentioned another filter and she said she'd have to ask me first and he left. He did not completely explain which filter and did not get authorization for it. Apparently they ran out of some filter and ran across the street to the Ford dealership to purchase a filter, came back and installed them.

She asked them why they opened the gas tank fill port and they said they always do that for the filter. The fuel filter is not in the tank, so why would they open the fill port? She was not specifically asked if she wanted the fuel filter changed and NEVER authorized it. She authorized only for the AIR FILTER to be changed. The vehicle is still under factory warranty and if it required the fuel filter we would take it to FORD to be changed or I would personally change it when I return in a couple of months.

She was charged 48.99 for an air filter and the 10 minutes of labor to install it. The air filter is 20.00 at most parts stores and I know because I replaced it before I deployed. 91.00 is way too much for a 30 oil change with the air filter being roughly 20 and another 30 in labor?

When my wife (and two young children sitting in the hot vehicle waiting) tried to start the vehicle it wouldn't start. They mentioned it was because there was no fuel in the lines. This is what triggered her to the fact that they did something that she did not authorize and immediately told me via a text message. My wife is not a mechanic and was mislead by the maintenance workers at a store that you have authorized under your corporate name.

When I called at 1:30 in the afternoon (local time) I was told the manager, Robert, would not be in until 4 pm. What kind of manager does not come in during the busiest part of the day? I have made a couple of professional requests for Jiffy Lube to make amends. I await their reply to my requests. If they do not comply with a simple audit and disciplining the manager then I will notify the BBB and Attorney General.

No actual damage except misrepresentation, hounding my wife and other ilegal sale practices.

I drive my 2000 Nissan Maxima 110 miles everyday five days a week. So, I pulls my car every 35 days to Jiffy Lube shop for changing oil and filter. In the past 3 years, I made more than 30 visits and each time I paid 34.99 for the PZl 5W30 oil.

This morning Aug 4th, I went to store No 872 in Falls Church and the Mechanic asked me whether I want the same oil & filter used in the past. I replied yes please. Upon check out he run my credit card for 46.16. I asked him that I always paid 35.82 (34.99+.83 tax), I asked him to view my last month 6/11 record and he would not pull it. He said some stores belong to Jiffy Lube Corp and some are not and our prices are different. I told him that I went to different stores in the past three years and they all charged me 34.99. He called another guy, Brian and both moved to another computer and the cashier flicked his eye to Brian and Brian repeated the same answer.

I have receipts from the past 4 visits and all of them have the same type of oil for 34.99, except this store ripped me off for 46.16. I was embarraced in front of other people who were waiting in line at 8am and he pulled an addition 10.34 from my pocket. I am very upset and I will inform Jiffy Lube Corp Office.

late last year i went to jiffy lube for an oil change. i was advised that i was required to buy special high mileage oil since my vehicle was over a certain mileage. when i got home i discovered that the person there did not read my odometer correctly & overstated my mileage by over 10000. miles. i complained and was given the run around, was talked to rudely and baited until i was yelling at them.

i do not like being tricked and cheated. i wound up paying about twice as much for a simple oil change. i verified that with both goodyear and firestone who offer oil change services in merced, and they told me special oil is never needed, especially on high mileage vehicles because it makes little difference. jiffy lube over charged me between 10 and 15 dollars, & many hours of trouble trying to get a refund, which was refused.

The oil change worker that I presented my 19.99 coupon to charged me 49.70 for an oil change. He asked if I would like to upgrade to a synthetic oil that would last 5-6K miles and it would only be 26.99. So I said ok. He then told me that he changed the filters and still knocked off 13 bringing the total to nearly 50 after I continually told him NO to all other services since right now is not a good time for me financially and I would come back later.

i sent my wife to get an oil change for our 2007 mitsubishi outlander, and i had said to her i just wanted a regular oil , and they kept on pushing her specialty 4x4 oil which is not needed for that car according to the manufacturer. and cafter she had said no to the specialty oil, they did it anyway. just to charge her more.

they charged twice as much for it, after they were told not to. THEY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF WOMEN
