It's said that a thing of beauty is a joy forever. In the case of Jaguar, this is true only if no one is in a hurry to go anywhere. Jags are and always have been among the most beautiful creations in all of motordom, but they are hardly known for being hale and hearty beasts of burden.

Our advice: If you have time and money to burn and another couple of cars in your garage, indulge yourself! Buy as many Jags as you want. If you're looking for a daily driver, we'd recommend something along the lines of Lexus, Infiniti, Lincoln and so forth.

Herea are a few of the more recent complaints:

I purchased new from this dealer a Jaguar/S Type R September 2006 a 2007 model. Car has 14,700 miles now and has developed a loid noise from the front wheels. I thought it was wheel bearings. Took to the dealer and was told allignment was wrong causing the inner edge of the tire to wear excessively. Problem not covered as car had over 10,000 miles. Cost to repair 1,000.00.

I then searched the internet and found that Jaguar issued a technical service bulliten (#S204-12) describing the exact problem on my model car which was caused by improper allingment (tow in). The dealer looked up the TSB and although it did say my car model had this problemt, they told me the vin number on my car was not covered. I think this is called the good old run around, can you help? Jennifer Rector I am trying to contact Jaguar direct about this issue but not been able to find customer service contact numbers.

Cost to repair 1,000.00. Unknown if resale value is damaged.

I am writing to share my dissatisfaction with Jaguar Credit. In January, 09 I contacted Jaguar to inquire if they would be willing to work with me for three months to reduce my lease option payment from 1,599.00 to 1,099.00 due to me being on Long Term disability (with 21 months remaining on my lease agreement) and my income going from 100% to 66 2/3 with soaring medical bills and other house expenses. If possible I wanted to see if they would work with me to reduce my lease payment by 500.00 for three months (tacking the 1,500.00 at the end of my lease or spreading it over the remaining payments).

I was planning on purchasing this vehicle at lease termination. When I inquired on this possibility I was told Jaguar did not have this provision in their lease program and there was nothing they could do to assist me in this matter. This was very upsetting for me because I had purchased 4 other Jaguars from the Jaguar Corporation and I thought I was valued as a loyal customer. I was not asking for a handout, but a help to help me to be able to keep my car. After all I had paid (on time) on this vehicle since April of 2006.

As a result of their inability to work with me, I turned in my car (voluntarily) on January 21, 2009. As a result of returning in my car to the dealership where it was purchased , I have experienced more medical problems, sleep depravation and stress. Not to mention I have lost more than 2 years of payments for this vehicle totaling over 41,574.00 with nothing to show for it.

My S-type Jaguar had a puncture and I called Jaguar Assistance. The technician could not remove the locking wheel nut so inserted more air in the tyre, suggested I went to the local tyre centre and promptly left. I visited two centres, neither of which could solve my problem so I had to call for assistance again. This time my vehicle was recovered to the Hull centre. They could not remove the nut so cut the whole unit off and sent it to specialists to grind off the wheel.

My car was finally ready for collection on the Wednesday evening following the incident which happened first thing on the previous Friday. I received a bill for 1,092 for what was basically a flat tyre.

This is yet another problem I have had with this car. Previous problems included a faulty turbo which was finally replaced after about five visits. The symptoms have now manifested themselves again but jaguar tell me that it is a different problem and want about 800 to fix it.

I have my own business so, when my vehicle is unavailable, it impinges on that. The economic damage from the last incident is that a punctured tyre cost me 1092 and to be without the vehicle for a week.

Thank you guys so much for posting your stories. Let me start by saying reading this tonight may very well have saved me from the same troubles that you all have encountered. After saving up for more then a year, I've was ready to walk into the dealership tommaro to buy a 2005 Jaguar S-type. Anxiously awaiting, I was browsing on random websites to see how other people feel about this car. I think it was a sign from god! After reading all of your stories, I would never ever buy a Jaguar. It has been my dream car since I was 7 years old. Funny how one night can change the last 15 years. I've been told that the Jaguar encounters occasional problems, but never thought twice about it. And today I learned the true meaning of American made autos. I think I'm going to stick with a Toyota or a Honda. Maybe even a Lexus. Any suggestions?
