A Salesman Responds

Brian of Mattoon IL writes (8/25/04):
Stephanie Moore's article about how to not buy a car is absolutely absurd. I used to sell cars and my customers loved the way I treated them and their individual needs.

Obviously stephanie never treated her customers in such a professional manner, and there are many situations that I have incurred that apparently she did not. Has she ever had customers that thought highly enough to invite her to their home for dinner? How about being invited to their kids' high school graduation as well as basketball games or other events that are important to these people?

Speak for yourself if you were a crooked salesperson. I treated my people like they were family and my customers returned that feeling to me.

How could you come to such conclusions in 2 days? If you figured out all there is to know about the car business in 2 days or even 2 years you should write a book about it. I would buy it.

There are circumstances that are out of your control as a salesperson but the initiative is to fulfill a need in a way that best fits the customer's wishes and that's how I got where I did. Obviously Stephanie's customers thought no more highly of her than she does of the industry. I thank God that I don't have the problems that she speaks of.
