I bought a Honda Odyssey in April 2000, with a lot of options like CD Player, Central alarm, carpets, etc. I didn't choose these options because the car was available at the dealership from another customer who had some credit problems.
After having bought the car, it appeared that the Radio system and CD player, sold for $597, was of very low quality, and when I checked the price of car CD-players on the internet, it appeared that for this price, you really can get a high-quality audio system.
So I went back to the dealership, asking them what they could do about what I was considering a rip-off. They laughed at me, saying that I was not the only person asking that, but that they couldn't do anything. Worst, they told me that if I really wanted to change my sound system, they could take it back for a "fair" price of $60.
I don't know if there is anything I can do about my $597, but at least, I hope a lot of people will read this story, and never order a car's sound system from the car dealer any more. I have paid $597 a car CD-player that is worth nothing, and the dealer laughed at me when I told him that I felt like I was being taken advantage of. Now, each time I'm driving my car, I feel like someone is still laughing at me.
