I have a 2003 Pontiac Grand AM GT with 20,000 miles. Several times when the trying to start the car the dash lights will display but the engine will not start. This has happened with both keys. Many times if you leave the key in and wait 10 minutes or so the ignition will recognize the key and start but it did have to be towed once.

The latest time this happened I took the car to Woodworth Motors, a local GM Dealer and Service Center. They are replacing the ignition at a cost of over 500.00.

On July 16 I parked my car, applied the hand brake and it rolled off of the driveway into a tree causing body, engine and undercarriage damage. The dealer could not find a cause and escalated it to the Parts and Resolution Center as a part failure. On July 30th, I was told since no one could figure out why the brake failed and I did not have the brake adjusted at 15,000 miles, that I was not covered by the warranty.

However, if the lack of brake adjustment was the cause, it would have been identified by the mechanics or there would have been signs at some point. I have contacted a lawyer. The vehicle's transmission had to be replace, body and undercarriage repaired. The driveway's drainage cover was crushed by the weight of the car and the tree it hit had to be wrapped until the bark heals.

I have a 2006 Pontiac Solstice which came with a 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty. I have had the car in the shop with many different things such as differential leaks, sensors going out and other nuisances. The car went out of warranty in March (it is now August) and in June I had to replace a sensor (250.00) and now last week, the water pump went out. The car only has 27,000 miles on it!

I took the car to the dealer and their service writer told me the water pump failed prematurely and gave me the number to a GM representative that he said I could speak to so that I could see if GM would pay for the repairs. I opened up a case and it was referred to W. Galloway. I was told by the service writer that GM called him and he told them that the water pump failed prematurely out of no fault of mine (ie..abuse). Mr. Galloway said he reviewed the case and kept just saying to me that it was out of warranty and they would not cover the repairs. That's all he could say. What instances do they make exceptions to the warranty if they don't do it for faulty parts as admitted by their own employee!

When I asked if I could speak to W.'s boss he told me that his decision was final and his supervisor would tell me the same thing. I said I still want to speak to your supervisor, he told me he wasn't available and I said then I want to speak to your supervisor's supervisor and he said basically he was as high as I could go. He would not give me his supervisors extension (said he could not do that) but said he would leave a message for him.

I have not heard from him yet but I am so upset because these repairs are going to cost around 800.00. Why should I have to pay 800.00 for their use of a defective part? I have been on line looking for the life expectancy on water pumps and the general concensus is 100,000 which this one missed by about 70,000 miles. Unbelievable and I am unbelievably frustrated.

I have been without my vehicle for 4 days and I cannot continue to get to work without it. I am going to have to pay the 800 to repair the vehicle and then I don't know what I am going to do. I am so disappointed. These American dealerships are barely surviving and I can see why. They turn out a substandard product and then don't stand behind it. They have the shortest warranty of any car companies and the worst customer service!

I have a 2008 Ponitac Solstice and the truck has not been working correctly since I purchased it. It has been in the shop 4 times, out of the 2 of the 4 times the service department (Pontiac) has keep the car from 4 days to a week. When it rains the inside of the truck get wet, which make the car smell. I just don't know what to do at this point. With the truck still not functioning properly it doesn't close all the way on the passenger side, and when it rains water get in and leave a bad smell.

I bought a (2 year old) 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix quite a few years ago. It had about 20,000 miles on it at the time. My husband went to start the car about a week week ago and the engine exploded! The thing caught fire. There's quite a bit of damage. He says the problem started with a manifold which is blown apart. The wiring is damaged. There is only 70,000 miles on the car and it's been very well maintained.

Tammy of Hollywood, CA July 9, 2009

My 2000 Pontiac Grand AM is leaking coolant, and I've been told it is because of my manifold intake valve. I know 9 years seems like a long time but it has only 83,000 miles on it with only one previous owner. I've been on Workman's Comp for the last 3 years and the likelihood of me ever being able to work is very slim. If fixing this problem, which is clearly a manufacturing issue is going to cost me close to 1000 I don't know what I'm going to do. GM should clearly be recalling this part in order to protect the safety of it's consumers. Ironically I have another faulty part within my car, the switch that regulates my blinkers and emergency lights is intermittent and this has been recalled. Seems GM is cutting corners and isn't willing to admit it.

I have a 1996 Pontiac Trans Am I replaced spark plugs at 55,500 miles and wires for 1 plug boot was burnt and cracked went on a 600 mile trip and on my way back check engine light came on and scanned and code for multipal cyclinder misfire came up. So I talked to friends and said probably needs a new distribator cap and rotor ( dealer 350.oo) (napa 190.oo) and now doing or trying to replace m y self you would not belive the BSand the damper will not come off and also says to remove the water pump!!!! WHO THE HELL DEVELOPED THIS JUNK??

Daniel of Chicago, IL June 12, 2009

I own a Pontiac Grand Prix, which had an engine fire due to the manufacturer. My car was totaled, and when I contacted G.M. I was told I would not be getting blue book value and that I would receive 1700.00 and so I signed the waiver. I should have never signed it. well anyway, now I find out I will not even be receiving the 1700.00 since they have filed bankruptsy. I don't know what to do next, I just don't see how they can get away with this. I would appreciate any help with this matter.
