Auto Mall
C.P. of Frederick, MD writes: In March 21, 1998 I went to buy a 1998 Champagne-colored Chevy Lumina from Fitzgerald Auto Mall. I signed all the papers for the car and when I went to see the car it was not the one I picked out. It was a White Chevy Lumina with more miles. I have had nothing but problems with this car. It has been in the shop a least seven times already. The problems consist of squeaking in the front, knocking in the front, and the car doesn't hold a front end alignment. The mechanics tell me if they can't hear it they can't fix it. But they replaced the rotors, brake pads, and the bearings to the brakes. Every time I took the car to the shop they treated me like I didn't know what the hell I was talking about and that all of the problems with my car were in my head. I think if I should have to pay that much for a vehicle the best it could do is run. I have this car in the shop more than i drive it. at least it seems. Well, those noises are what are generally called the "American car noise" -- random squeaks, signs, grunts and rattles. And not holding a front end alignment is also fairly normal for front-wheel-drive cars. But the significant point is that Ms. P says this is not the car specified in her sales contract. If that's true, Ms. P's next stop should be the courthouse.
