Sure, they look tough. But underneath that brawny exterior, there are lots of delicate little parts. The most disastrous common problem is low oil pressure, leading to engine failure. Although this is happening like clockwork, DaimlerChrysler is refusing to accept responsibility.

Not only that, the Durango tends to go through ball joints like a dog through a pound of hamburger. This is not only expensive but can -- and does -- cause serious accidents, as many of our readers will tell you. The feds have finally put the arm on DaimlerChrysler to do a recall but there's some debate over whether the recall covers all of the affected models.

I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 which has 78,873 miles on it which are all highway miles - no towing or offroad. Last weekend my family and I were driving and suddenly heard a big pop only to find that the tranmission would no longer engage. The truck had to be towed to a local Dodge dealership. The transmission had to be taken out and the torque converter had to be replaced (simply a bandaid as really the tranmission should have been replaced). I was told that this was very surprising considering the fact that my truck is three years old and has relatively low mileage etc. Unfortunatley, the power train warranty expired at 70,000 - too bad so sad.

Seems that I have joined a long and distinguished list of 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 transmission problems . Went looking around google to find any info on the symptoms and found several similar complaints. We have experienced the EXACT same issues all have outlined and had no choice but to going to the dealer for repairs...in these times, no cars selling...the only way they can make any money is in the Service Center. I would like not only for others to see the magnitude of the issue but also to find out what type of recourse I have in getting reimbursed for the expenses for repair and rental cars etc.

It is a travesty that Dodge has not stood by their problems. I have been a loyal Dodge owner for nearly ten years and before this occurred toyed with purchasing a new Dodge for my wife - CLEARLY scared off by the repair and reliability issues...pretty funny today! Please complain to the NHTSA...the more people who bring the issue to light the better chance Dodge might actually own up to their design issues and help their customers!

Repairs: 1225.00 Car rental: 500.00 Towing expense: 150.00 Cab Fare to dealership: 40.00

Our 2006 Dodge Durango burst into flames under the dash after experiencing some problems with the dome lights not turning off. The dome lights would not turn off, draining the battery. We put the battery on a charger, only to experience fliggering and instrument panel problems. We took the vehicle to our nearest mechanic, whereupon it burst into flames under the hood on their premises. We were so glad this did not happen at our home, and glad that the garage put out the flames quickly, but now have a not quite 3 yr old vehicle that is ruined, in our opinion.

This happened 4 days ago and at this time, our insurance company will not cover it fully, and Dodge is reviewing the incident. This comes 5 months after our son was killed in a rollover accident of a Dodge Ram Truck on wet pavement. We have been dedicated Chrysler buyers, but are feeling tragically let down at the moment.

the rotors on my dodge durango went out because the piece that holds the caliper was not parallel with the rotors, and the transmission will not shift out of park. there has been a recall on the 01-02 ignition switch because of the shifter. i crushed 3 disks in my neck changing these parts because the dodge dealer said i would have to pay for these replacements. i have had surgery to replace the discs.

cannot work, cannot have sex, and have been tormented with pain

I bought a Brand new 2008 dodge ram 1500 5.7L HEMI 4x4 quad cab in sept 08. I started to notice a noise coming from my engine/ exhaust so i brought it in around the end of jan, beging of feb. Well the first time it was at the shop for 2 days and they said they pin pointed the noise. So i had to bring it back a week or two later, well it sat there for a week and a half they said they did valve spring work to it, but it dont take that long. Well after that it still made the noise.

A week or two after thaat i brought it to a different dealer for a second opoion, it was there for two days and they couldnt fixed it. The place were i bought the truck from  blew me off, gave me some answer. I was told by the dealer that a factory rep said that 50% of those trucks MAY make the noise and its the heads and how they circulate exhaust. They are not going to replace them cause it will do the same thing. Well the other 50% dont make a noise so i asked if it was a defect, i was told it was how the truck is. And the heads dont recirculate exhaust, the catalitic converter does i think that might be the problem. I told them i want a new truck that dont make noise or my money back. They said no to both

I guess this problem is common for the 2000 Dodge Durango. I have the 2000 Dodge Durango R/T and just yesterday it wasn't shifting out of 2nd gear till about 3000 rpm's. I got it home shut if off and went inside. 30 minutes later went back outside to start it and it wouldn't start. I was able to start the car in neutral but not in park. I read the complaint about the TRS going bad and replaced it with a new one. It still won't start in park and it still doesn't shift out of 2nd gear until about 3000 rpm's! I don't have money to take it to the repair shop. What can I do? I hope it doesn't become a reoccuring problem once I get it fixed if I can get it fixed.

Don't have money to take it to the shop. Have to send my kids to my parents every morning before work and pick them up after work.
