Sure, they look tough. But underneath that brawny exterior, there are lots of delicate little parts. The most disastrous common problem is low oil pressure, leading to engine failure. Although this is happening like clockwork, DaimlerChrysler is refusing to accept responsibility.

Not only that, the Durango tends to go through ball joints like a dog through a pound of hamburger. This is not only expensive but can -- and does -- cause serious accidents, as many of our readers will tell you. The feds have finally put the arm on DaimlerChrysler to do a recall but there's some debate over whether the recall covers all of the affected models.

i purchased a 99 dodge durango a few years ago and in the last year and a half all i've had is trouble out of the transmission. the day after the warranty went off it started slipping. it's like they plan it that way. now i have to pay 1500.00 to replace the darn thing

I bought a 2006 Dodge Durango from them in August 2006. July 2007 my engine light came on & my car started cutting out and would just die while driving down the road. I took it in and they replaced the cam shaft sensor. In September 2007, the same thing happened. Again they fixed it. But exactly 2 weeks after I got it out of the shop, the same thing happened. This has happened 3 times in less than 3 months. I have lost pay from missing work, had the expense of gas to drive my car 50 miles to the dealer I bought it from because the local Dodge Dealer said I would have to take it back to were I bought it, not to mention, I have had my car just shut down while I'm driving, losing power steering, which could have caused a wreck. I'm taking it back to the shop today and hopefully, they can fix it properly.

I was driving around in my 1999 dodge durango and the oil pressure gauge began to jump. THe truck was still riding the same way it just started to make a small whining sound. The hand on the oil pressure gauge on the dashboard began to jump from the middle of the gauge all the way down to 0 when I'd push on the brakes and it would jump back up after I would accelerate again back to the middle of the gauge. The next day the whining sound was really loud and the hand on the gauge was at 0. Shortly after errand running the engine locked up and the truck shut down. I just purchased the truck in january of 2007. The truck went down in september. It was a used vehicle when I bought it but I had work done to it to keep it up to snuff so to speak. That truck is my family vehicle and also my boyfriends primary way of doing his motor delivery route so we kept tabs on what was wrong with the truck because we couldn't afford to do without it. Now I'm working trying to save up enough money to buy a new engine for my truck so that my family can get back on track. It's just really hard because my boyfriend lost his motor delivery route and has to stay at home with the kids because we have no way of transporting our five(5) children back and forth to the babysitters without our truck. My truck was paid for and now I feel like that 5000 went completly down the drain.

i have had my durago fixed 2 times for the same problem the ball joints.once by the warrity and the next time by the recall by the company.now my 2003 durago is doing the same thing again pulling and shaking in the front.i am really afraid to drive it when i have kids in my car.now i don't know what to do if i have to replace these ball joints every 20,000 miles it is a shame.why can't they fix the problem with better parts.

i have a 2003 ram 2500. i had an leak on the valve cover at 45,000 miles. took it to the dealer and they said that they fixed it. it still leaks. now, at 64,000 miles, i have a leak in the rear end i haven't found yet, and either my clutch or trans. is bad. either of which will cost me more than i have. with this many problems on a heavy duty truck, and the service i've been given, it has helped me decide when i get a new truck in about 6 months, forget the 4 dodge trucks i've owned, get anything but another dodge.
