I first called this dealership and spoke to Kris, a salesman, explained my situation and what I was looking to do. I was upfront with him about my entire situation including the fact that I wanted to be dealt with honestly. I told him that I did not want to waste my time or his. He said that he thought it would be worth my coming in to see what could be done.
Upon my arrival there he took a credit application from me and my husband. I was looking to trade my current vehicle which I knew was going to have a lot of negative equity. After speaking to the finace officer Kris came back and told me that there would not be anything that they could do unless I wasn't trading that vehicle. He said that if we were to just purchase a vehicle we would be ok. I left that day.
A couple of weeks later I called kris and told him that I was now interested in not trading my current vehicle and wanted to know if it were still possible to obtain a new vehicle. He said yes he thought so, that my husband and I needed to fill out new application as too much time had passed inbetween now and when we had done the first ones. We made another appointment. I turned in new applications to Kris, he went back to the finance office for them to run another credit check. He came out and said looks like we will be able to do something, he said let's go pick a vehicle.
I picked what I wanted and we went back in to write it up. After being there for an hour and a half I had to leave for an appointment. Kris told me to call him in a few hours and it should be wrapped up. Upon calling him he said he had not heard. I asked him if there was a problem and he said no, they just needed to get special approval come Monday (this was saturday).
I called Monday late morning and was told he still didn't have information. i called early evening and was told that kris was gone for the day. I asked if he was going to be in the next day and upon the person checking, I was told that kris would be in the next day. I called on Tuesday and was told that it was Kris's scheduled day off. I asked to speak to someone else and was connected to an Eric in the Finance dept. He told me that he would check into it and he would call me back. hours later I had not heard from him so I called, Eric told me that there didn't look like it was going to go through.
We discussed the possibility of my son qualifiying for this loan. He said he would have to see my son's information. We agreed that my son would call him with all the information that he needed. My son did that and later that evening I called and was told that had not gotten an answer. I called Wednesday and Eric was off, I was connected to paul also from the finance dept who said to let him check into it and he would get back to me. i spoke to both paul and kris a couple of times throughout Wednesday.
Wednesday evening at about 7:25pm Kris called me and said "congratulations, we found someone to approve your loan" he told me that all I had to do was to be interviewed by the bank. He told me not to make sure that I did not say anything during the interview about my current auto loan with Toyota (where the vehicle that I origionally was going to trade is financed from). i said no problem, do you know when they will be calliing and he said no, he wasn't sure if it would be that night or the next day. I didn't hear from the bank that night.
I called for paul on thursday and he was off for the day, I then spoke to kris and he said that when the bank interview us we told them that we were giving back our vehicle to toyota so the declined to carry the new loan. I told kris that neither me nor my husband had spoken to anybody. He insisted that we caused the problem with the bank financing the new vehicle because of the interview that we gave. I was so furious that I left work and drove to the dealership.
I spoke to Kris, who gave me attitude, he repeated to me again his story that there was a problem with the interview that we had given to the bank. I told him that either him or the bank was not telling the truth because neither myself or my husband had spoken to anyone. I asked him when supposidly that happened and he said I think a few days ago. I asked him how that would be possible because a few days ago I was told there had not been an answer yet and that he had just called me the night before telling me that they obtained a approval and that we needed to do an interview. He looked at me and said well, i don't know.
I asked to speak to Paul or Eric, I was taken to another building and Mr. Brian G., the general manager or the dealership came out, took me to an office, asked me what was going on. I told him my story, he told me he would get to the bottom of it, told me not to worry, that they would get the deal done. Told me he would call me in an hour (which he did not).
I called Thursday evening and was told they didn't have an answer, I called Friday and was told the same thing. I called Saturday morning and was told by mr. G. that he would check on it and asked me to hold the line. Someone picked up the phone and said to me that mr. gates was on the phone with hyundai and they were going to pick up all 9 deals (of which min and was one)and to call them back in 15-20 minutes.
When I called back 45 minutes later i spoke to a Thomas who said sorry we don't have an approval and it doesn't look like there is anything else we can do. I hung up. i then called back and wanted to make arrangements to pick up the small deposit that I had left the week before. I spoke to both kris and thomas asking if I could come in today and pick up my deposit. Both said yes, i said I would be there at like 2:15pm, they said ok. I arrived at 2:05pm, waited, Kris told me he would be right with me. at 2:35 I was told that a check would be cut on Monday. Now mind you i had already called to find out what I needed to do and if coming there at this day and time was ok.
I belive I have been treated very unfairly, I believe I was frauded. They still can't answer me as to why I was told I had an approval and then a story was made up about my supposid interview with the bank. One mind you that never happend. it's totaly ridiculous that a dealership can get away with this type of business practice. I understand that salesman are supposed to stay positive and on the upswing when financing is pending but what happened with me goes way way beyong that.
