Code 4 Towing

San Bernardino, CA

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

If you are a responsible person willing to accept your consequences for your actions but looking to be verbally assaulted and misinformed, Code 4 Towing is your place to go. No person should feel threatened, trapped, or at the mercy of an unprofessional employee yelling and slamming windows because the questions asked made them uncomfortable. Perhaps they have something to hide. Stating one price for your vehicle to be released over the phone then demanding a different, higher price once at the yard is completely scandalous. The expletives and quick to anger nature of the employees should warrant every person dealing with this company to have the police on hand. It is one thing to pay for your consequences, another to be financially raped, because the employee behind the counter deems that you pay the astronomical price or you won't get your vehicle.

Complaints to the city of which your vehicle was towed needs to be made against this company. It's a matter of principle. No one is saying the reason for towing wasn't justified. But the actions of these employees and the way they treat customers or those retrieving their vehicle are insulting to the professional towing companies out there. If you are reading this, I hope you never do or have to do business with Code 4 Towing, nor ever come across their path. In addition, Jeff and Gary claim there is not a manager because they are a corporation. This is the most ridiculous excuse for not providing information. Below are the key contacts: Jason Keeth (President/Vice President), Marcie ** (office manager), Stephanie **, and Richard **.

I parked my truck in front of a friend's garage to unload a few items being taken out of storage. In under 10 minutes code 4 had stolen my truck. My registration papers were in the truck and when they requested for it, I instructed the scumbag to do his job and find them. Upon retrieving my truck, I noticed a crack had appeared out of a chip in the windshield. Also, upon driving, it was apparent my alignment is now in need of adjustment after their handling of my truck. These people are thieves and need to be dealt with as thieves are in third world countries.

I visit my daughter in the ** complex located at **. Code 4 towing has towed me twice. The first time, I complained to the manager, explaining to her that the lease agreement did not correlate with the posted signs. The lease agreement said that visitors were to park on the premises for not more than a three day period. The signs or the lease agreement did not disclose anything about parking passes. I paid $398.00 to retrieve my car.

After going to the Housing Authorities, the management soon changed there signs. On August 18, 2011, I had a parking pass that expired on the 18th of August and one that expired on 8-30-2011 in my car. I had one in the front window and one in the rear. Never to say the least, they towed me. There was another close call I had with them. I was returning my grandson to my daughter. Soon as I went upstairs, they began to hook my car up to the tow truck.

This company is a bunch of crooks. I've seen people that have jobs in that Apartment complex that had passes that expired on a particular date but can't get another pass because of the hours of the office. They call the office and leave a message for someone to get them a pass. Their calls go unanswered and their car is towed. My car is parked in that parking lot 3 days a week, at least. My car is not strange to them.

This towing company sits and waits at apartments, they are predators. I parked my car outside my friend's apartment, while grabbing a few things to put in my car and when I walked back out only a few minutes later, my car was gone. It was a horrible experience. Their reason I parked in front of the red fire zone. If I had known they were towing companies that can take your car that fast, I would have thought twice.

Also my friend that lives in this apartment complex, her parents are visiting from out of town so she let them use her parking space. The apartment complex has very little parking spaces and the spaces that are available for visitors are not marked. This towing company knows they can make a lot of money there so they sneak around the apartments all the time.

They took my friends car on a Thursday 4/22/10 and only had it for a few hours. When she went to go get it, they charged her $391.00! Her dad from out of state had to loan her the money. If you look this company up on the internet, they have numerous bad complaints about not only stealing your car but taking a huge amount of money from your pocket. I think someone really needs to investigate these guys!

On 3/3/10 at approximately 00:28 I arrived at the Arrowhead Estates located in Fontana Ca. I parked directly in front of mobile home, my sister's residence. I was picking up a jacket with my work badge in it. I left residence in 2 minutes maximum and walked out and was standing in front of my car when I heard a loud roaring noise which startled me because I didn't know who it was. All I heard next was skidding noises and noticed a big truck was backing up at a dangerous speed and I started to scream as loud as I could and waved my arms and hands like a maniac to get the drivers attention. He was coming toward me like a bat out of hell.

The driver kept coming and did not stop and almost ran me down with some equipment. I jumped out of the way to prevent myself from getting severely injured and made it to the right side of my car. I was shaking and scared to death and then I realized it was a tow truck. The driver bashed into my car with his equipment at high speed, hooked my car up then jacked it up at maximum height and then got out of the truck. I was so upset I yelled and cursed at him and stated "didn't you see me standing in front of my car and hear me yelling?"Then I stated "you tried to run me over just to get my car". The driver responded coldly "didn't you see the sign?"

The next thing I did was apologize for cursing at him because he was very angry, cold, and silent all I noticed that he was breathing fast and hard and I really thought we would get in some sort of physical altercation so I remained quiet. The driver then said I can give you a drop. I asked what is a drop. The driver then stated "for $152.00 I will give you your car". I agreed because I had no choice. I would have been stranded with no car, no purse or car keys because they were in my car. The driver continued to be cold blooded towards me and disregarded my safety again. I had to request that he lower my car so I could get my driver's license, registration and my purse with my bankcard in it. The driver did with an attitude maybe a notch.

I still had difficulty getting to the items the driver requested because my car was so high in the air. Then when the driver completed the transaction I started to get upset again because he took a picture and it looked like my personal information my bankcard. I asked the driver for his name 4 times and he ignored me. The driver then unhooked my car slamming it real hard to the ground and left the area. When I got in my car my emergency lights went on and off several times while my car was still in the off position. I then left area drove to the gas station and then to the Fontana police department to report the driver for trying to assault me because I parked in the fire lane for 2 minutes. The officer took my complaint in the parking lot of the police station then called Code 4 towing to see what their version of the story was.

The officer told me that they said I was parked for 20 minutes and that the manager called. This was false because I contacted my sister on the following afternoon who knows the manager very well and called him and the manager denied calling the tow truck Co. The manager had no knowledge of what happened and said he was going to call the company to investigate. I told the officer I believed the tow truck driver was in the park already waiting in the dark for a chance to tow a car to make money. The tow truck Co. also refused to give the officer the name of the driver they identified him as driver #8 only. I have 2 receipts conflicting with the times the tow truck driver put on the copy of the tow receipt indicating what time I came and how long I parked.

I also called Code 4 to speak with a supervisor on the following afternoon a lady answered and identified herself as the supervisor and said her name was Marcy. I stated "I want to file a complaint on the driver that tried to run me down" and I need his name. I explained some of the events and all she said was you shouldn't have been standing in front of the tow truck and I said I was already in front of my car and I wasn't hooked yet. I also asked Marcy if it was standard protocol for my bankcard and personal identification to be photographed her did not respond to that question.

Marcy the supervisor took my name and telephone number and said she would talk to the tow truck driver to see what happened and call me back. Marcy never returned my call of course. I am currently seeking outside action to file a complaint against the driver. I do have witnesses who saw the driver's horrible actions. Several of my family members viewed a part or the whole incident because of my screaming.
