I went to trade in my 2005 chrysler 300 today and the dealer brought back a carfax showing my car had been totaled while i owned it! WHAT? this is completly absurd! I called my insurance company to let the delaer verify it and they did, tried to get a copy of the police report from Prince William County which they (police) told me they didn't have, and went to my local DMV and they have no record of it either!!!! I am still paying for this car and i have gap insurance so don't you think if it had been totaled that it would have been paid off? OF COURSE IT WOULD HAVE AND IT WOULD HAVE HAD A SALVAGE TITLE!!!

I am EXTREMELY upset at carfax and when i got in touch with them they just told me that they would "look into it" LOOK INTO IT!? are you kidding? now because they have a false report on my car it is worth NOTHING to the dealer! if it isn't fixed quick I am going to see a lawyer and let them take care of it plus compensation for my aggravation of having to do their job for them! THIS COMPANY IS A FRAUD!

I Have a car CRV 2006,and never had a accident.I was moving out of california and trying to seel my crv to a honda dealer and came out on the system that my car have a accident last year and me and my wife where suprised of this innacurate info. of CARFAX of my Car,i send all the info. for this to be fix and CARFAX has no tel. no so all have to be fax or email they been asking me to provide a police report of my car that had a accident spo they can fix it but i keep telling them that what am i gonna give you i dnt have a police report becaused i never had a accident on this car over and over im telling them,but they keep insisting the police report that i dnt even have.Im so prostrated of this kind of service CARFAX,why they do that putting wrong info. of people car i been so delayed of my moving the money and tie to wait and trying to fix this with them.

I PULLED A CARFAX ON MY 2003 JAGUAR XJ8 AND IT SAID IT WAS perfect a great car. so i bought it. when i got it home i went through the glove box and found service records for a wreck that cost over 10k to fix. this is the second time this happened to me. the first time was in 2003 w/a 98 nissan pathfinder same thing happened. but i got the money back for the carfax report. however i think i should have gotten the money i lost for buying the car. but i didnt even bother cause i know i wont get anything.

My Car was involved in an accident with a very minor hole on the rear bumper. The dealer said this could not be repaired and has to be replaced with new one. So the replace was done and the other parties insurance paid for the repair.

This happended on dec 22nd 2008. Now I am selling my car and one of the potential buyer said carfax reported an accident. That is fine. But the way it is reported is no details are provided and the report is misguiding and scaring away all the buyers. I am leaving to India in one 30th Aug 2009 and till now I am unable to sell my car because of the misguiding carfax report which has marked my car as a alert involved in an accident with no details at all. I have heard from many buyers that my car was involved in a major accident which is not true.

I have all the documents required to carfax.com about the repair and the phone numbers of the dealers. They dont have any contact number and they have not responded to my e-mail

I put this car on e-bay, I didn't get any bids near it's value. I later found that Carfax reported it had failed emission test in NC. This car has never failed emission test however the inspection expired after I lost the keys and time elapsed before I could get some made. Unable to sell vehicle. loss of fees to promote on ebay aprox 50.

I pulled a carfax report on 7/25/08 for a 2003 Acura TL Type-S, which showed no accidents in the history. It basically appeared "clean", so to speak. There were no recordings that sparked suspicion. I have had this car 1 year and now can afford the car I really want, so I prepared to put it for sale. I pulled another carfax right before I planned to list the car. It shows an "Accident Warning" with a notation that the car was in an accident 3/24/07 in Manhattan, KS with Functional Damage.

It also notes that Carfax reported this accident on 3/18/09, nearly 2 years after the accident occured, and over 6 months after I purchased what appeared to be an accident-free car. It is unfair that because this was not noted in a timely fashion that I was not given the benefit of this information before I purchased this car, but whoever buys it after me will. I expect to loose a significant amount of money on this vehicle. I'm not sure what the point of Carfax is. They do not appear to provide the service they claim to provide.

I had a false report made to carfax about my vehicle. I went to trade my vehicle in and was told there was strucural/frame damage done. My ins. adjuster went back and looked at the claim and no mention of frame damage. Now that is on my vehicle history report and it is a big red flag!! Nobody knows who reported it, nice!

I have a 1998 Mazda B2500 pickup that I am trying sell. The CarFax report on the vehicle says that it was involved in an accident in 2002 and sustained heavy damage to the front end and that the airbags deployed! My son bumped into the back of another car and dented the bumper and that's it! There was very minor damage and the airbags DID NOT deploy! Now no one wants to buy the truck because of the CarFax report! I have tried to contact CarFax and simply received an email that they will look into it.

I cannot believe that they get away with this kind of thing. Now I'm stuck with a truck that is in perfect condition after the front bumper was replaced, (NO damage underneath), and CarFax couldn't care less. This company needs to be sued and made to provide a way for car owner's to dispute false information. They should be required to investigate claims and correct false data in a reasonable amount of time. Looking at all of the complaints on the Internet confirms that this is a HUGE problem for a LOT of people and CarFax should be held liable for damages.

I purchased car in Jan 2007 and verified carfax report thoroughly. It was a clean title that time and I purchased the car. In 2008, when I get a chance to look carfax for my car, I got surprised to see an Accident record with previous owner. In 2009, when I try to sell car to a dealer and surprised again to hear that my car has Inconsistent Odometer reading. After a detailed investigation on report, I could find that This was caused due to wronly enter Odometer reading from the purchase I made in Jan 2007 as Odometer reading on "Jan 2006". Just a single digit in Year caused so much problems to sell my car. I am still looking some one to take my car. There is no proper support from Carfax to correct it. CARFAX is playing with people's money. ITS SCAM. Please stop this and try to close this carfax company.

I saw her add on craiglist. Contacted her and we met after couple of days. It was about 2001 Audi S4 - nice looking car. The price was set to 18000. The car had 35 436 miles on it. This is happening back in July of 2007. I liked the car very much and drove it for couple of miles. Got the VIN number and checked the car the same night on Carfax - payed with a credit card, which should be easily proved. Carfax report did not show anything wrong with the car - "perferct record".

Called her again on the phone and set the price for 18000, including set of winter tires and wheels for a total of 500. When the Audi dealers ran the report on the car several times i went there, they told me that the car was being total, which i did not believe. Now, i want to trade the car and the dealer tells me that the car was being salvage.

The worst thing is that the report shows that the car was being salvage during the time i have the car (the second owner), which is myself. I got the car in July 2007 and the report says it was salvaged in December of 2007. I have not had any accident, even a simple one with this car - this can be checked.

When asked the previous owner if there was any accidents, she lied to me. She did not tell me anything. Because of the fact that i did not know what was the accident that happened to the car, myself could have made a accident that could lead to myself ending up somewhere. Why carfax did not show the correct report.

I would not have bought the car in this case or haggle over the price to be dropped down with couple of thousands less. (most likely would not buy it) I don't care how often Carfax updates their database - i want accurate data. And now i cannot trade the car with a dealership, because of this. Where are the consumer rights here?
