Denise of Romeo, MI August 4, 2009

I had a false report made to carfax about my vehicle. I went to trade my vehicle in and was told there was strucural/frame damage done. My ins. adjuster went back and looked at the claim and no mention of frame damage. Now that is on my vehicle history report and it is a big red flag!! Nobody knows who reported it, nice!

Rob of Acworth, GA July 30, 2009

I have a 1998 Mazda B2500 pickup that I am trying sell. The CarFax report on the vehicle says that it was involved in an accident in 2002 and sustained heavy damage to the front end and that the airbags deployed! My son bumped into the back of another car and dented the bumper and that's it! There was very minor damage and the airbags DID NOT deploy! Now no one wants to buy the truck because of the CarFax report! I have tried to contact CarFax and simply received an email that they will look into it.

I cannot believe that they get away with this kind of thing. Now I'm stuck with a truck that is in perfect condition after the front bumper was replaced, (NO damage underneath), and CarFax couldn't care less. This company needs to be sued and made to provide a way for car owner's to dispute false information. They should be required to investigate claims and correct false data in a reasonable amount of time. Looking at all of the complaints on the Internet confirms that this is a HUGE problem for a LOT of people and CarFax should be held liable for damages.

Srinivas of Morrisville, NC July 10, 2009

I purchased car in Jan 2007 and verified carfax report thoroughly. It was a clean title that time and I purchased the car. In 2008, when I get a chance to look carfax for my car, I got surprised to see an Accident record with previous owner. In 2009, when I try to sell car to a dealer and surprised again to hear that my car has Inconsistent Odometer reading. After a detailed investigation on report, I could find that This was caused due to wronly enter Odometer reading from the purchase I made in Jan 2007 as Odometer reading on "Jan 2006". Just a single digit in Year caused so much problems to sell my car. I am still looking some one to take my car. There is no proper support from Carfax to correct it. CARFAX is playing with people's money. ITS SCAM. Please stop this and try to close this carfax company.

Alexander of Villa Park, IL July 4, 2009

I saw her add on craiglist. Contacted her and we met after couple of days. It was about 2001 Audi S4 - nice looking car. The price was set to 18000. The car had 35 436 miles on it. This is happening back in July of 2007. I liked the car very much and drove it for couple of miles. Got the VIN number and checked the car the same night on Carfax - payed with a credit card, which should be easily proved. Carfax report did not show anything wrong with the car - "perferct record".

Called her again on the phone and set the price for 18000, including set of winter tires and wheels for a total of 500. When the Audi dealers ran the report on the car several times i went there, they told me that the car was being total, which i did not believe. Now, i want to trade the car and the dealer tells me that the car was being salvage.

The worst thing is that the report shows that the car was being salvage during the time i have the car (the second owner), which is myself. I got the car in July 2007 and the report says it was salvaged in December of 2007. I have not had any accident, even a simple one with this car - this can be checked.

When asked the previous owner if there was any accidents, she lied to me. She did not tell me anything. Because of the fact that i did not know what was the accident that happened to the car, myself could have made a accident that could lead to myself ending up somewhere. Why carfax did not show the correct report.

I would not have bought the car in this case or haggle over the price to be dropped down with couple of thousands less. (most likely would not buy it) I don't care how often Carfax updates their database - i want accurate data. And now i cannot trade the car with a dealership, because of this. Where are the consumer rights here?

Manuel of Downey, CA July 1, 2009

I requested a vehicle history of used car i recently purchased and online application asked all your personal infromation and credit card # but it doesn'rt show any results, but they already cahrged my account

LYDIA of PRAIRIEVILLE, LA June 17, 2009

I purchased 3 vehicles using information that I received from 3 Carfax reports. The Carfax reports reported that the vehicles had clear titles. Once the purchases were made the titles read salvage title. I did purchase the buyback insurance. I have been able to get nothing from Carfax in regards to the automobiles that I purchased. There is no telephone numbers from Carfax. I have been trying to resolve this matter since I made the purchase of the vehicles with no success. The jaguar has had recalls that I can not have done because of the salvage title. I purchased 85,000 in automobiles that are worth nothing.

Samir of SCOTTSDALE, AZ June 4, 2009

I purchased my car, in part relying on their report. When selling it their updated report showed an accident date prior to the original report I received. No recourse as they've cleverly hidden behind electronic communications and corporate umbrella.

Robert of murray, UT May 30, 2009

I have been trying to sell my car for several months. I own a very desirable car for my community. I drive a 2004 Mazda3 with every option possible. I am selling my car 800 below fair market value. I have showed my car several times and each potential buyer seems to fade and lose interest just prior to purchasing the car. I have now learned that information on my Carfax report indicates odometer fraud. This is absurd.

I am the second owner and I bought the car from a close friend that was getting married. I know every detail about this car and I have never had any problems, and most certainly, never rolled back my odometer.

Everett of Ashford, AL May 28, 2009

Carfax report saying vehicle qualifies for buy back guarantee , showed no problem and now we are trying to sell and a potential buyer does a report and now it shows a wreck prior to us owning. I complained as soon as we received the vehicle and got no help. Now i get a response from Kevin at carfax basically I'll quote: (Because we do not inspect vehicles, we recommend that a vehicle inspection by a qualified professional be performed for making better decisions about used cars on every CARFAX report.) So I interpret this as - I wasted my money on a CARFAX report.

anthony of vancouver, WA May 28, 2009

i have a vehical that carfax says has a rebuilt or salvaged tittle yet i have a clean none branded tittle for the car from the dmv. I think there must be an error with carfax and need to know how to fix it. I hope carfax can contact me with an answer People dont want to pay full price for car even with the clean tittle in hand
