When leasing a new 2002 Saturn, I was contacted 15 days later by letter, then a phone call, that I needed to return the car. I couldn't understand what was going on. I read the letter, which stated that the dealership had the right of recission up to ten days after I left the dealership with the car, and it referred me to paragraph K on the back of the SALES contract. I didn't have a SALES contract, it was a lease, and I also had a co-signor for the lease. I contacted the dealership more than once, and asked for an explanation. They said that they would get back to me, and that I would either have to return the car, pay $500 more dollars (because MY credit wasn't sufficient), or pay $1,000 more to be able to keep the car. There is no paragraph K, with an explanation of rights of recission on any of the paperwork that I had signed (though a friend of mine has that on the back of a SALES contract that he had from BUYING a car), and the 10 days they were talking about had long since passed before they even bothered to send a letter. Now, am I being scammed here or what? Is this legit, or is it just a way to make a fast buck that they can pocket by hoping that I will defer to intimidation?
I am really upset, and my school and health are suffering because of this. I just recently lost my father, and was put through the ringer by another dealership when I tried to return a car that he had just bought three weeks before he passed. This is really a horrible situation, and I don't appreciate the fact that the dealership is treating me this way after being so freindly and helpful when I was there to draw up the lease.
