I bought a 1998 Chevy Camaro in March of 2000 from Sullivan Chevrolet. Troubles began two days after I bought it - I had to have it have towed in for a transmission leak. The nightmare continued through the next year, to include a completely rebuilt driveline, rear end, window motors, etc., totalling 12 repairs. Having bought a diamond warranty, at one time they told me the axle wasn't covered and that they wouldn't repair it. I read the warranty and told them they were wrong. They were SO wrong they didn't charge me the $50 deductible for repairs nor the cost of repair. (I had paid $50 deductible every time it went in). It took several weeks, but I got a replacement vehicle in March 2001. In the process of financing, I advised I would go through Household Finance, my current finance company because I didn't want more inquiries on my credit report. I knew Household would finance my new purchase, which they did. I made this VERY clear to the salesman.
Since that purchase, I have received five rejection letters from finance companies which tells me these inquiries would be on my credit report and lo and behold, they are! I am sick of these people treating me like an idiot and violating my consumer rights. I thought the nightmare would end on returning the Camaro (I wanted a replacement vehicle, not to have to pay a down payment due to them selling me a lemon). They wouldn't sell me a car without a $500 down (that figure had earlier been $3500 down with the Camaro trade-in) but I stood my ground and said I was going to walk out and call Consumer Affairs if they didn't lower that. When I told them I wanted to forget the deal and to give me my Camaro back, they indicated they had pulled the transmission out of it (I didn't authorize any repairs whatsoever)and it would take time to get it repaired! I want my contract checked out by Consumer Affairs to ensure I didn't get shafted in the deal. I will provide all paperwork you need.
I have been through extensive down time without a car because I had to pay for the rental cars while my car was being repaired. There has been much emotional stress due to the fact that I thought I was stuck with a complete lemon and would have to pay for repairs myself. Last but not least, I've been blessed with lots of lost time at work to deal with the car.
